Coingecko must uphold principles of impartiality and equitability in their evaluation of projects,
The platform exhibits an excessive degree of centralization coupled with glaring favoritism. They assert an unearned authority in distinguishing the virtuous from the questionable within the crypto industry. Furthermore, their listing policies are replete with inconsistencies; they profess adherence to criteria that demand a project to have a commendable social engagement via exchange listings. Yet, it has come to our attention that certain projects presently featured on this platform display negligible trading activity, lack exchange listings, and possess feeble social media engagement.
Coingecko must uphold principles of impartiality and equitability in their evaluation of projects, adhering to uniform criteria applied judiciously across the spectrum of crypto projects, including those already present in their listings.
All cryptocurrency projects should be treated equitably, devoid of prejudice. The platform should refrain from assuming an authoritative role in determining what is deemed positive or negative. Instances of inaccuracies have been observed, wherein projects with questionable intent, such as Celsius, Luna, or FTX, have been included due to a lack of discernment.
Cryptocurrency epitomizes a paradigm shift, marking a profound evolution towards a more just and unbiased society. At its essence, it introduces an innovative means to equalize opportunities and redefine the very principles of fairness.
Coingecko's lack of impartiality and evident favoritism is a cause for concern. To rectify this issue, there is an urgent need to establish transparent evaluation processes that prioritize fairness and equality for all cryptocurrency projects. It's imperative to foster an environment where every project, regardless of size or influence, is given an equal opportunity to thrive and be accurately represented in the crypto landscape.
Recommendation: CoinMarketCap is much trustable
reward candies
none of their rewards candies actually work for anything. A year ago i purchased the premium membership and was to get a cg poap. the poap nft never works. now i just spent 300 candies on the cg 9th anniversary ellipal give away and received a code but no link or nothing on how to use this code. it says paste in the checkout page of stores website but ellipal says code invalid. CG’s twitter page is full of users asking the same question on why these rewards do not work but no one ever responds. CG scams you with these candies. i have over 20,000 but am now done. i’ll use cmc from now on. At least their reward program works.

Good app. Sees everything
I initially had CoinCap and liked the interface and colors and design, but didn’t see all the coins CoinGecko saw and didn’t show total return on investment like CoinGecko so I jumped. I don’t love the design and color scheme feels a bit garish. My biggest complaint is the “how do you feel about this coin today?” It’s this massive bar along the bottom and just feels kind of like a dumb little nerd kid. I clicked on it the first couple times hoping it would disappear but it won’t. It just stays there clogging the screen. I know they love it and will never move it but dang I’d love if they did. I’ll give them a 3. I do like it and it’s helpful.
Great application with minor flaws
The app version of coin gecko is user-friendlyAnd provides useful information about most currency is on the market. The profile page for each currency provides a plethora of links and supplemental information that gives an accurate summary of the coin. Another feature is the portfolio option which is super useful if you are in possession of multiple coins and would like to easily track their gains and losses as a group. The only flaw if found is how the portfolio feature maintains up-to-date pricing for each coin. There is delays in posting up-to-date information, but this is a very small bug it doesn’t take away from the value of the overall tool.
Way off and inaccurate prices
Why is your app 35%-40% lower for my crypto price than all the others? Thats real time and accurate as you boast? You show SafeMoon at .[protected] when on the exchange I bought it on and my portfolio one shows it at .[protected]. Thats a huge discrepancy. It’s not like a 2% difference... That’s understandable. But 35-40% difference? Your app almost gave me a heart attack seeing your way off price. I refreshed it over and over and still was 35% off. I have 5 figures invested in them and I was about to go nuts thinking I was down $29,000. That’s just wrong and no excuses. I erased your app immediately after seeing this. Disappointing to say the least.
Request change
Love the app! However one process improvement is to change the automatic “1” price conversion of a cryptocurrency. For example whenever I want to check the price of ONE , it automatically populates price of “1” eth. It’d be better if it was left empty. Reason is because the header already has the price of said cryptocurrency.
Suggestion: make the conversion of price of cryptocurrency empty and let user input a number.
Current process: I want to find out price of 17 ONE. Before I can input 18 quantity, I have to delete “1.00” and type in 18. It’s pretty tedious if I’m repeating that process multiple times for multiple cryptocurrencies.
Thank you for reading.
Great app some bugs tho
I love to app very user friendly. Easy to navigate. I can find about 95% of what I’m looking for in currencies all in one app. Incredible! But if you go into the settings and change it to pull up the “portfolio” by default when you open the app instead of “market” it only works when clicking on the app icon it’s self it does not work when clicking “portfolio” at the top of the widget it still takes you to the market page. I use the widget because I can just look and see the coins I’m currently looking into. A feature I would love to have on the app would be being able to rearrange the currency’s in my portfolio to what ever order I please. Keep up the great work with the app
New to it
I don’t have much experience with the app yet, but it seems to have potential. I like the idea of the candies and being able to get NFTs and such that way.
I’ve encountered one bug so far: I’m entering transactions into my ETH portfolio and every date I enter is showing up as the previous date in my transaction list. So if I made a transaction on, say, 4/27, I need to enter it as having been made on 4/28 in order for it to show up with the correct date in my transaction list. That’s a nuisance.
Other than that though, I haven’t encountered any problems yet, and I like the colorful and fun approach to crypto, with the gecko and the candies and all. I’ll definitely be exploring further!
@jjgisjjg ig
Solid for what it does, recommended to others, does lag sometimes and you have to restart, wish it had some more detailed things like the other companies but like Cg because they were indie when I was searching for a company that wasn’t swayed. I didn’t like how they took a jab at President Trump before, had to comment back because it’s two different worlds America anyways they are top 4 but have to a little more to become number 1.2 do use them a lot. Do wish they have more accurate info on prices and so on because other places will say different and be more accurate but they are getting there keep it up, honest opinion oh and I wish on the up you just had a section for the chart where it load up or get bigger instead of just the little one
Needs chart improvement
Detailed candle sticks with actual time stamp and date.
Timeframe parameters need to be created for 1min, 5min, 15min, 30min, 1hr, 2hr, 4hr, 6hr, 12hr. You already have the 24hr, 7D, 14D, 30D, 90D, 1Yr, MAX. It would also be nice seeing a 3yr for the older coins. Now look, I know this requires a lot of coding and programming but it should be easy to find template for some of the code. Start off by getting the 5min, 15min, 4hr added because those are the most important in my opinion, these time frames are used by more than 75% of traders and investors so you will see what they see (resistance/support levels).
Also when you click the chart, would be very nice to be able to see the time stamp, high of candle, low of candle, open, close, volume for that candle.
Cannot get a password reset sent from App
Been locked out for over 10 days. Still can’t get a password reset sent to me via the app. Although customer support sent me one that expired. 10 days I have been locked out of my data. Supposedly they’re sending me a password reset link but why I can’t send one from within the app is not solved. This would not be a problem except for every three weeks it decides to not accept my password for several days and then all the sudden it works again. This time it would not let me back in but also will not send a password reset link. However, when support emails me they sent a password reset that expired before I opened it. They send it to the same email that I’m trying to get the reset sent to from the app. It’s just that taking 10 days. It into an account that Holds important data is not acceptable. That’s too long to be locked out. Having said all that I absolutely love the app and it’s interface and enjoy using it for tracking my coins and hope I don’t have to switch to a different CoinTracker.
CoinGecko’s Like a Living Crypto Library
I use it as often as a contractor would use a measuring tape.
Makes it very easy to get an understanding of what any specific altcoin is about.
Also shows where each and every coin is sold, how long it’s been around, etc.
Throw it into your cryptocurrency tool bag, along with TradingView, LunarCrush, YouTube, your own market experience, and anything else that’ll help you.
A “gold standard” (*intended) tool for anyone even remotely intrigued by cryptos.
CoinGecco’s developers didn’t pay me to write this review (you think I’d try this hard to clearly convey why you should be already done downloading this app if I was a hired review writer?)—but in a way, they’ve paid me:
I’ve definitely made much, much more; and learned about specific cryptos much, much faster than I otherwise would have. I feel indebted to these devs.
I don’t like writing reviews, but I was also raised to give credit where credit’s due.
5 Stars + excited to see how this gem continues to grow.
One suggestion would be to host a “forum” or chat room for each coin. It’d be cool to be able to connect with other people, esp for some of the lesser-known projects that haven’t yet been widely discovered.
CoinGecko Complaints 18
After several months of issues goodbye
Started with crashing if you didn't have push notifications on. Now portfolio won’t load ever. They’ve set up some kind of block for vpn’s. Onwards and upwards to CoinMarketCap. The developer responses are all the same. They don’t care at all. This review is for the customers who wonder if they should come here or move along. Move along.

No pie chart?
Great app for crypto tracking overall. Two areas i think could use improvement: no portfolio pie chart, and no clear year to year breakdown. Implement those things and I’ll give it 5*
*editpie chart looks great, but now im not able to use decimals in some instances! Rating 1now because the tracking is wildly inaccure without use of decimal

So many shortcomings
I loved this app for months and then I realized it has been misrepresenting prices of several cryptocurrency‘s lately.
In addition to that, the alerting system is very rudimentary and does not allow you to track which alerts you previously set up or if any of them are even active.
This app has a long way to go, I’m trusting Coin market cap over this all day.

Failed to retrieve data messages
Doesn’t seem to work for crypto outside of the top 100. I get an error message: fail retrieve DATA! There is a retry button yet it’s not pulling information and I continue to get the error message: failed to retrieve data! I have uninstalled and reinstalled on several occasions over the last couple months with no cure. Maybe it’s my iPhone but it’s not an old one

False Reporting of Market Data
Do not use this as a trusted source for market data. It does not list all Cryptos properly. Case in point is HEX. It has a 30B MC (# 8 by market cap on Nomics . Com) and on Coin Gecko it lists a “?” For the MC. Clearly Gecko does not know how to pull market data from Etherscan. Likely not the only coin affected by terrible API. 1 star. Cannot be trusted until fixed.

Verifying account
Tried about 50 times to verify my account. Checked my @me.com email folder and it’s junk mail folder repeatedly after doing the captha over and over to verify photos of bicycles and motorcycles. Apparently they don’t want me to use their app and webpage. Sadly it seems like their is a problem and I can’t seem to find anyway to get them to send me an email verification

App organizes and categorizes well - portfolio is trash
If you’re using this partially to keep up with your trading statistics, it’s not worth the headache. Every day the app (on the portfolio tab) doesn’t work to the point I have to delete and re-download. Somehow all my data entries are still there after re-dl but I’m tired of deleting this app over and over. What is so complicated about having a basic app work correctly?

Deception
I was under the impression this was an app to purchase crypto mainly because it has a BUY/SELL option. I made what I thought was a life changing trade a one in a million home run only to find out it didn’t actually happen. I’ve sent two emails to them but received no response. This app is deceptive and pointless. I’ve had sleepless nights, anxiety, and depression since finding out this was a just a fake app.

Design Refresh Failed
They just did a little design makeover. It’s a little sleeker-looking, but they reduced the font size, now it’s much harder to use.
Bolder fonts have a less pronounced shape and are therefore harder to read.
Green text (for positive % increase) on a green-gray background is harder to read than on a neutral gray background. This is because contrast in hue affects readability just like contrast in brightness.

Won’t let me log in
I downloaded the app and got to the step where it forces you to enable notifications, so I click on open settings to enable the notifications then nothing happens. It won’t get passed that to log into the app. Today I opened the app to try again and I’m logged in for all of 5 seconds before it logged me out to enable notifications again. The few seconds I was in this app looked nice and I’d like to use it but this issue prevents that.

Someone in development broke the app
This was my favorite app. Switched from coin market cap’s app but now this app doesn’t work at all. It doesn’t show any prices. All it says is “failed to fetch data” with “retry” button underneath. Been clicking retry a few times throughout the day both on and off wifi all week but I keep getting this same message. Your app’s purpose is to show prices. Why aren’t you showing them. Fetch the data your app is becoming as disappointing as XRP

17 days and still cannot updated info for Archangel
Used to use there site regularly and downloaded this app on my iphone. Just deleted since it's pretty much useless to me. I own archangel token which migrated to a new contract 17 days ago. Since then, coingecko still has not updated the new archangel token info on their site, leading to countless numbers of their users purchasing tokens from the old contract. It's obviously they don't care about their users, so it's time for me to move on.

At first it was great
It was great at first. Everything I’ve come to expect from CoinGecko.
After using it for a bit, you come to realize that it’s the most in dependable app I’ve ever used. No matter where I am it routinely can’t connect or update info. I can be out in the parking lot w/ great reception and for some reason this one app can’t connect. Even at home it routinely happens. Other than that CoinGecko is great. I’m not sure what the issue with the app is.

Does not load
After reading other reviews, it seems I am not the only one who cannot open this app. If this is due to my declining the options for notifications and pushes... then this app has to go. And ... no I will not send an email to whomever to explain this issue. You can read the issues within these reviews. It is self evident by the comments. I have my notifications off. And if this app needs them on to function,... then I don’t need this app. It’s a great app otherwise.

Forces me to use a longer password
It’s not your job, nerdy developers, to tell me what password to enter in your silly app. It’s a portfolio tracker. There’s zero security concern. My password is 23 characters with case sensitive letters, numbers, and a symbol. It’s perfectly fine. But you refuse to let me register. So here’s a 1 star review, for being the typical coders who think they know better than everybody else, even though you’re just out of touch with reality and regular human beings. Learn a lesson.

iPad version need lots of improvements
I need all the trading view and candles same like on original website on iPad version. If it’s phone the display is smaller and we might need a compact version of CoinGecko, but iPads have bigger screens and can fit more information. It doesn’t make sense to have the same features as phone.
If you add those features, I will update my review to 5stars.
You can also divide this app in to two, like full version and lite version. Let the users decide which one they want. I’m positive most of the users prefer full versions on iPads.

Was my favorite before it started glitching; now it’s ruined
I literally switched to this app for the same reason I now plan to move on to another and never use this again: my portfolio is impossible to add to since the apps last update and many other pages within the app just glitch constantly. If you touch anywhere outside the fields or even when you correctly fill out fields it’ll just “scroll up” a grey screen covering everything and you have to exit the app to get it to go away. I’ve uninstalled the app, changed all settings, bunch of things. It’s literally useless now as nothing works properly.

Cannot sign up, frozen
Was looking forward to using this app but when I go to do the create account option after entering email clicking on the password/password confirmation boxes makes my phones keyboard go black then the app freezes and says “strong password” in yellow boxes where the passwords should be. And have to force close the app. I’ve tried everything. I have a newer iPhone with iOS 14.2 so it’s not a phone issue. Looked through the reviews and it’s been affecting iOS users with the same issue for over a year. Developer reply’s to reviews claiming “it was a bug and should be fixed” well it’s been over a year and you haven’t fixed it.
The complaint has been investigated and resolved to the customer’s satisfaction.
Basically robbed me of £27,000. Said they had put back in my account but haven't, then telling me it can take up to 8 weeks to sort out. This is so disgusting, I'm glad I never out in the 100k , always test with small amounts to see if the platforms have good ethics, this is totally unacceptable.
