I have been visiting a friend for 16 days... in that time, Comfort Keepers has pelaced his representative 3 times. My friend is 43, paralyzed and requires daily care for mundane household taks. One of my friend's biggest issues is alcoholism, and the last "care giver" not only bought and provided alcohol to my friend, but also consumed alcohol "on-site" that was not his own (Theft) and also drove to and from my friend's home under the influence. This same rep asked to borrow money from me for a personal issue, and on the 4th of July got pulled over for DWP and DUI, leaving his wife and two teen daughters stranded at my friend's house, after eating half the food in the house (for the family)... Had this been an isolated event, I's chalk it up to a bad actor, and tough circumstances, but the rep BEFORE this guy drove back to her home during her "care hours" to bring my friend beer, which she shared, and then when the social worker arrived, she went to a local bar, only to return to close out her shift, half in the bag. DO NOT ENLIST THE HELP OF THIS COMPANY to help care for a loved-one.
The complaint has been investigated and resolved to the customer’s satisfaction.
You are right on! As former care giver for this company you have only reached the tip of the ice berg.
Please remember that each "Comfort Keeper" franchise is "independently owned" and shoudl uphold certain guidlines to adhere to the standards of the corporate office. Such a complaint should go to the head office, you can find it on www.comfortkeepers.com
They are not all the same, nor is every caregiver! Please do your research, before blasting a branded name! Thanks!
sorry you had a bad experience and what you went through was terrible. caregivers like that (aide) should have been reported. you cant blame the company it is the aide. all aides are not the same and this one gives us a bad name!

Why didn't you call the police for theft?
If he drove FROM your friend's house, how did you know he was drunk?
"This same rep asked to borrow money from me for a personal issue, and on the 4th of July got pulled over for DWP and DUI, leaving his wife and two teen daughters stranded at my friend's house, after eating half the food in the house (for the family)"
What kind of friend lets anyone do this without reporting all of this to the police?

What does 'Chalk it up to a bad actor" mean, and does that mean the theft would have been 'forgivable', if the last rep wasn't bringing your friend beer?
If the first rep was drinking on the job, why didn't you report it, immediately?
I'm not saying this didn't happen. However, there are a lot of questions raised from your story, that seem like there's an underlying story that is being left unsaid. I dunno. I'm smelling a lot of fish from this complaint.
I agree with the comment. I am an ex employee. Comfort Keepers is the worst company to ever ever work for. They pay you a regular pay rate even if you are a Certified Nursing Assistant. They do not pay drive time. They hire anyone just to make the money and not to provide quality care for the clients. It doesn't mater who it is as long as they are willing to work. They don't check on the employee's on how they are doing, they don't even give the employee's a drug test. I take pride in being a Certified Nursing Assistant and I provide only the best quality care with love. If Comfort Keepers would treat and pay their employees the right way, they would have quality employee's to care for people like the comment listed above. SHAME SHAME ON YOU COMFORT KEEPERS
To the person who complained of Mark and Kelley. I to had numerous issues with being bullied. I may contact a lawyer. Are you interested in talking?
I have to agree that this Company shouldn't be trusted. They do hire anyone to cover shifts (even people who can't even spell) and then they don't check up with them to see how they are doing. The turnover in this Company is ridiculous, both with the office staff as well as the caregivers. They aren't looking out for the person being cared for, they are only looking out for how much money they can bring in. Yes, they hire people with a criminal background and No, they do not do drug testing. They have figured out a technical way to not pay their employees overtime and if you have a complaint, their attitude is pretty much a "How dare you question us?!" sort of feel. I would just encourage anyone considering working for and hiring this company that they look at ALL options available before hiring them.
I am a CNA that worked for this company and in the many, many years I have worked in healthcare, I have found this particular office to have been my worst employer ever. They sent an untrained worker to stay with a client that required total care; "caregiver" left the client in a bed full of dried diarrhea. This was not an isolated incident; many clients had complaints about communication with office staff, caregivers not showing up, several caregivers being scheduled at the same time, and unskilled workers that actually told family members that they had expected them to care for the patient (then why were they paying an agency to provide staff?). It is unfortunate that the owner cares more about her vacations to Mexico than caring for the clients who pay her mortgage. Shop around before accepting a position with this franchise office or hiring them to provide care to a loved one. I recommend only utilizing an agency that hires licensed caregivers instead of just people off the street willing to work for low wages. I was burned but learned a lot.
November 17, 2013 CK staff doesn't have qualified staff for dealing with family in a death situation, when to call the family, or Hospice.
on 6/29/13 my Dad passed, he had 2 sitters, one from 8:30 am -6:30, second 6:30 -10:00pm, was suppose to have 12 hr. shift over night. My Dad had the Death Rattle all day, CK never called any of our family, or Hospice for comfort measures in his last hours. I wasn't suppose to be back until 6/30/13 at 8:30. Thank God he was telling me to go see my Dad, I got there at 10:00, I asked the sitter if he had Death Rattle, she just looked at me, my husband said Yes. I hugged my Dad, told him I Loved Him, he looked at me and drew his last breath. My Dad had small cell Carcinoma, left lung & right clavicle, diagnosed at 91 yrs. old I will never forget how he struggled to breathe. We used their services for 7 months, I have written a letter to Alan Hutchins, CK, Ringgold, Ga., which he has never had the courtesy of replying to my letter on 9/10/13. I would never recommend CK.
Strange FO Ga.
sitters have.
This company is committing
fraud in my opion. You go to clients house take care of 2 clients and get paid for 1.I have all the documentation to prove this and have called several goverment offices to report on this. They do not do good business. They treat their employee's badly and can't keep help. They hire people from craigs list because they can't keep help.Just thought people should know. They also have office employee's
.fill out on-line reviews to make it seem like it is a good place to work and for future clients, to make them think they are a good company
Comfort keepers will hire anyone that can barely pass a background check. Denver and Grand Junction perform their own drug test that are very sketchy. The caregivers are usually of the street or have very little experience. They are not fully informed about the clients and their needs. It is very sad that these people make all of these promises and use the Comfort Keepers and Sodexo brand that they will provide excellent care. The fact of the matter is the clients are just that! If they are lucky they have someone in the office that takes the time to make a good fit and ensure the care and safety of the client. If Owners and other "Pseudo owners management" That only see numbers and black white get to involved the clients suffer because they are $$$ to them and are not taken care of properly
I've got the "barely pass a background check" thing beat: I worked for Comfort Keepers briefly (2 weeks), and they ignored the part of my application wherein I admitted to having a 2-year-old Traffic violation. They apparently liked me from the interview and began immediately sent me on assignments with no training whatsoever (I am a newcomer to caregiving), then terminated me after learning of my Traffic violation from my background check. IT WAS ON THE APPLICATION in BLACK & WHITE! I felt bad for their clients for having an inexperienced but well-intentioned caregiver, and they also paid me a lower hourly rate than they had promised.
Comfort Keepers is one of the most disorganized, unprofessional companies I've ever worked for. Don't hire them!
Compaint of Comforters report to bkcrose97@aol.com, a class action is started we need alot of people instead of complainf of this very fraudulent company report over and over afain BBB FRANCHISE AND E-MAIL MYSELF BKCROSE97@AOL.COM so people wont be mislead on this very fraud of a company...
My family utilized Comfort Keepers and were completely satisfied. The assistance for my Dad was respectful and considerate. My research showed that the care taker was background checked and trained. She had been there for 4 years.
To address the others, you take a job at a paid rate then complain about it? don't take the position. The background check indicates you are not appropriate to work and you get irritated because you are let go. Probably easier to keep you then to let you go after expenses paid for background check and training. Kudos for letting you go and someone's grandma is in a safe car.
I have respect for the Heath care businesses that take care of our elderly. Looking form the outside, it must be a tough business.
Nampa Idaho Business owner.
We in Indiana have had several aids from Comfort Keepers and they have the lowest quality of staff I have ever encountered. We've had the following bad experiences to date, one aid smoked pot in my home, another left her thong panites hanging on a dining chair and two have stolen from my home. One stole money from a piggy bank. The staff at Comfort Keepers, including the owner, couldn't be more unprofessional. They just don't care!

I agree. Former caregiver for them. I don't understand how they forbid even Advil and Tylenol, OTC dispensation but allow alcohol dosing. WTH, Comfort Keepers!
I need someone from corporate to contact me.
We never received services from comfort keepers as my grandmother was transferred to hospice care the day after our consultation
With comfort keepers. However I've called corporate several times because we have been charged for over $1000.
My employer had been making me work in a home that has bedbugs. Since September, I've been getting bit all over my body and no matter how much I complained, they refused to get me out and give me a new client. I asked for my job back and they only agree if I go back to the bed bug house. How is this ok? The client is a horrible person also. Help!
Please contact me for specifics and court case files.
