Consumer Cellular Less Service and Doesn't Honor Warranty

Last year we had had Consumer Cellular for ten years, but then they dropped their contract with T-Mobile towers and then only used AT&T. We were forced to get a new sim card and then I discovered I now had only one bar and even though I tried working with them multiple times, they couldn't get more than one bar on my phone (that had been fine before) and then said I needed to buy a new phone (what guarantee would that be to have more bars on a new phone?).

In addition, the other phone (flip phone) couldn't get any bars and they again said I needed to buy a new phone. We bought a new Nokia flip phone (with no rebates from them) but in less than a year, the open/shut mechanism broke and falls shut. We had several flip phones before and never had a problem. It's labeled as a Nokia Consumer Cellular phone with a one-year warranty, but they refuse to honor the warranty and said we need to buy a new phone and we could an extended warranty and pay for that each month.

How many times do we have to buy a new phone? If I have to buy a new phone, it won't be with Consumer Cellular, as they can't provide more than one bar and drops calls.

Recommendation: I would no longer recommend Consumer Cellular to anyone because of poor coverage and failure to honor warranty.. There are other options out there on better networks.

Consumer Cellular Clowns and liars. Suggest you look elsewhere.

I have several years' experience with CC. They're an ATT reseller that has carved out a niche exploiting an older and presumably less savvy clientele. I bought my backup phone from them and used them for years, during which time the $20/mo plan came to be billed as $30.49/mo, guess it's that inflation I've heard about.

I used the phone infrequently, but would repeatedly find that the network was not available when I tried to make a call until I contacted support, when all would be made good again. Were they pooling resources for a number of infrequents like myself, only providing actual service when there was a complaint?

Today, the supervisor had no answers for me, not even the customary "I'll check for outages in your area". This time, she just noted that the phone was six years old, and I should probably buy a new phone from them.

Ha, not likely. Already have a newer phone, which I bought online, new and unlocked. I had intended to activate it with CC's "bring your own phone" program, but the CC rep said it was not really unlocked and could not be connected.

That was a lie. The phone was absolutely unlocked and was compatible with both ATT and Verizon networks, as well as others. The CC rep simply lied to my face, since I had not bought the phone from them. These people are clowns.

Verizon connected it with no problem. It remains with Verizon to this day. And Verizon's network is always up. Always.

I'm through with Consumer Cellular.

Recommendation: Get a real cellular connection, whether it be with ATT, Verizon, Tmobile, whomever. Don't waste your time with these clowns.

Consumer Cellular Beware of Dishonest Customer Service: My Experience with Consumer Cellular

I used Consumer Cellular for a while, but then they told me I needed 5G to keep using their service. So, I went and bought a 5G Android phone and gave them all the information they needed. They told me it would work with their service, so I switched the SIM card like they said. But, it didn't work! I couldn't even call them to ask for help. I went online and found out that I had to call a specific number to get help. How was I supposed to do that without a working phone?

When I finally got through to customer service, they were terrible! They messed up and I had to go to my sister's house to use her phone to call them. The first lady I talked to said that my phone wasn't 5G, even though I knew it was. Then, she changed her story and said that the person I talked to before shouldn't have told me that my new phone was compatible with their service. And, to make matters worse, they still wanted me to pay for the whole month even though my phone wouldn't work with them! I refused to pay for their mistake, which was almost $25.00.

Months went by and they kept billing me, even though I wasn't using their service. Today, I received a collection notice for $44.58. I called them, but all I could do was leave a message. I explained that I wasn't going to pay for a service that they lied about and that I had to subscribe to a different service that actually worked. I told them that this needed to be settled in court because I wasn't going to be screwed over on top of their lies.

This experience showed me that Consumer Cellular has very dishonest customer service. They were fine until something went wrong, and then they wanted me to pay for their mistake. It's all about greed with them! I switched to Mint Mobile and they have been excellent. My 5G phone worked right away and I even signed up for a year at $15 a month instead of the $25 month by month choice.

I want to warn people to pay attention to Consumer Cellular. They can be fine until something like this happens. Then, they want to get paid or they won't go away and accept what they did. It's all about greed with them!

Consumer Cellular Consumer Cellular: Untrustworthy Company with Poor Customer Service

I recently had an experience with Consumer Cellular that left me feeling quite disappointed. After experiencing poor coverage, I decided to port my two mobile phone numbers to another carrier and cancel my service with Consumer Cellular. However, despite cancelling one of the lines, I continued to receive bills for it due to a computer error on their end.

I attempted to contact their customer service department, but was met with a long wait time and unhelpful representatives. To make matters worse, there was no published email or address to write to them. It was clear to me that Consumer Cellular was not a trustworthy company and their customer service personnel were poorly trained.

Despite being aware of the error, they refused to correct the billing and continued to charge me for a service that was not provided. I refused to pay the bill and was subsequently charged a late fee. It wasn't until a month later that the incorrect charges were mysteriously corrected.

I eventually paid the correct prorated charges for the last month of service, but refused to pay the late fee as it was unjustified. However, I now receive monthly invoices with compounding late charges for not paying the previous month's late charge. It's beginning to feel like extortion and I'm not sure if there's any way to stop it other than to pay.

It's clear to me that Consumer Cellular cheats their customers and I wouldn't recommend them to anyone. It's a shame that a company would treat their customers in such a way.

Consumer Cellular Consumer Cellular: A Scam Ripoff - My Terrible Experience

So, I went to Consumer Cellular to switch my service over to them. I told the representative that I was willing to buy two new sim cards, but I didn't want to buy new phones. The rep said that they wouldn't make me buy new phones. After four and a half hours of trying to get me online and speaking on a three-way call with the rep, a supervisor from Consumer Cellular, and a rep from Verizon to make sure that the network and phone devices were unlocked, Verizon hung up. Now, it was just the cellular rep talking to the cellular supervisor on the phone. At that point, the supervisor from Consumer Cellular told the rep that I had to buy two new phones. I was really upset and said forget about it, reimburse me for the sim cards, and let me go. After I got reimbursed for the sim cards, I had no incoming or outgoing calls, and I didn't have my old cell number. The rep said the best thing to do was to go home and call Consumer Cellular on my computer. How could I do that if I didn't have phone access? At that point, I had to call the Bethlehem police to get involved. The incident number is PA2023-***. All I got was a shrug of the shoulders from the rep when I said I had no service. I'm a senior citizen who is still very active in my community. My mission now is to tell everyone about my experience with Consumer Cellular. I'm going to tell crowds, gatherings, church dinners, bingo, and supermarket cashiers that I'm friendly with. I'm going to be Consumer Cellular's worst form of advertisement to let everyone know about this treatment. Beware of this scam ripoff called Consumer Cellular. I've also reported this incident to the Better Business Bureau. Losing my phone number of 20 plus years and having to call numerous people and doctors to let them know my new number was not worth the minimal savings to switch carriers. I'm still in the process of notifying everyone. God bless Verizon and its professional workers.

Consumer Cellular Disappointing Customer Service Experience with Consumer Cellular

Customer service at Consumer Cellular has really gone downhill in the last few years. I recently purchased a new phone from them and had a terrible experience. When I told the representative that I wanted to order a new charger because the one I currently had might not fit, she sent me a cord without any way to plug it into the wall. I had to make a phone call to find out that I didn't have what I needed, and I had to order it myself through Amazon. To make matters worse, when I read the instructions, I discovered that I needed to insert a sim card, but none was included. I had to call again to find out that there was no physical sim card, only an e-sim, but nobody sent me the link to the QR code to activate it. I had to call yet again to have that sent out.

When I called to complain about how this was handled, I got a rude representative on the phone who talked down to me and told me that it was written on the box that there was no charger. But I didn't need to read it when I opened the box, I needed to know in advance that I had to order it. Finally, I called to register a complaint about all of this mess, and I got a supervisor who insisted that the person who set up my order told me what I needed to know. But she never told me that she was sending ONLY a cord, and not the piece it's inserted into it that plugs into the wall in order to actually charge your phone. The supervisor also spoke down to me, as if I was supposed to automatically understand what her employees were saying even though I had no idea what their verbiage meant.

To make matters worse, the supervisor offered to send me a different phone that had what I needed, even though I had already ordered the charging pieces from Amazon. If they had told me that to begin with, I could have placed the order immediately as soon as my phone was ordered. Instead, I was left feeling frustrated and upset. I told her that all she accomplished was upsetting me more, and now I'm going to call around and get pricing from other carriers. Goodbye!

Consumer Cellular Buyer Beware: My Experience with Consumer Cellular's "100% Risk Free" Return Policy and Phone Selection

Yo, listen up! I gotta tell you about my experience with Consumer Cellular. I've been with them for a hot minute, but when I needed a new phone, their selection was straight up whack. Either the phones were mad expensive or they were some third-rate garbage that had terrible reviews. I ended up getting one of the cheap phones and it was a straight up disappointment. So, I tried to return it, but finding their "100% Risk Free" return policy was like trying to find a needle in a haystack. Their advertising was all vague and confusing. I tried calling customer service, but I was on hold for like 45 minutes the first time and then 32 minutes the second time. Finally, after 40 minutes on hold the third time, I got through to a real person. But they basically told me that I was stuck with the phone. It was a bunch of double talk and it took forever to understand what they were saying.

So, if you're thinking about doing business with Consumer Cellular, you better be ready to do some digging. You gotta go to the bottom of their website where no one ever goes and click on "TERMS & CONDITIONS". It's a 30 page document, but whatever, you got time to read that, right? Just use the search function to find "100% Risk Free" and you'll get to the part that explains what they mean by that. But be careful, it's a minefield. If you're a new customer, you got 30 days from when you activate your service to return your phone, but you'll still be charged for any usage. If you're an existing customer, you only got 14 days to return your phone. And don't even think about leaving a fingerprint on it, or they'll say it's used and you won't get a refund.

So, yeah, buyer beware. Consumer Cellular might seem like a good deal, but they make it hard to return stuff and their phone selection is weak.

Consumer Cellular Consumer Cellular Review: Lies, Hidden Charges, and Poor Service - Avoid at All Costs

I recently tried out Consumer Cellular after seeing a promotion for a free month of service. I ordered a postpaid SIM card and was surprised when I received a bill for a tax that I was not aware of. Unfortunately, I did not see the bill on the opposite side at the time. When I called to inquire about the charge, I was told that they had checked my credit without my permission. I received an alert about this and called Consumer Cellular to ask if I wanted to file a complaint against the customer service agent. I said no, but in retrospect, I should have negated the deal right then and there.

To make matters worse, I later found out that they had lied to the FCC and there were many complaints about their service. Customers complained about being charged for data they did not use and being billed for services they did not sign up for. The fraud unit told me that there were thousands of complaints against Consumer Cellular on the free month offer alone. Many more complaints were made about other aspects of their service.

Despite all of this, I received two emails from corporate. The first one was a mistake, as I never signed up for their service. The second email confirmed that I had received my free month. However, I decided to cut their service short and install a Mint SIM card instead. I certainly had no need for two cellular companies at the same time.

I also found out that Consumer Cellular's data is the most expensive on the market, and there are many complaints about their service. They are a postpaid carrier, which means that they bill you after you use the service. This can lead to surprise charges and unexpected bills.

In my opinion, there is not one positive aspect of this carrier. There is a lot of competition in the market, and I would advise anyone to look elsewhere for their cellular service needs. Additionally, I would recommend getting a factory-unlocked cell phone and getting an unlock code for your cell if you are with a carrier. It's your right to do so, and it can save you a lot of trouble in the long run.

Overall, I was very disappointed with my experience with Consumer Cellular. They lied to the FCC, checked my credit without my permission, and billed me for services I did not sign up for. I will be filing complaints with the attorney general of my state, their state, and the Better Business Bureau. I used to work for a consumer union publication, and I know how important it is to hold companies accountable for their actions. I'm not letting them get away with bilking people, and I hope that others will take note of my experience and avoid this carrier.

Consumer Cellular Terrible Experience with Consumer Cellular: False Claims, Poor Customer Service, and Credit Score Impact

I had a terrible experience with Consumer Cellular. They claimed that my phone was compatible with their service, but when I received my SIM card and inserted it, I was unable to make phone calls or send text messages. I tried to contact their customer service through their chat feature, but I was disconnected multiple times for no reason. Some of the representatives couldn't even read properly, which made it difficult to communicate with them.

After several attempts, I finally got a customer service agent who suggested that I check my APN settings. However, when I asked which setting to use, he couldn't understand my question and kept telling me to use the one that said "ereseller." I explained to him that there were two settings with that name and asked him which one to use, but he still couldn't give me a clear answer. I even sent him a screenshot of my settings, but he didn't seem to understand it.

After five hours of trying to fix the issue, they finally told me that my phone wasn't compatible with their service. This was frustrating because their website and one of their customer service agents had assured me that my phone would work with them. They even checked my credit score, which ended up being affected for no reason. Now they're telling me that I have to buy a phone from them if I want to use their service.

I'm elderly and disabled, and I feel like they took advantage of me. I'm planning to contact the Attorney General of my state to report this scam. It's unacceptable to waste someone's time and impact their credit score just to sell them a phone. I'm extremely disappointed with Consumer Cellular and would not recommend them to anyone.

Consumer Cellular Consumer Cellular Review: Worst Roadside Assistance Experience Ever!

I gotta say, I've had some pretty rough experiences with Consumer Cellular. But let me tell you, yesterday's experience was the worst of them all. My car tire went flat about four days ago, and a kind stranger helped me put on the spare. Unfortunately, due to the pandemic, it took about five days for my tire to be shipped to the tire shop. So, yesterday, I came out of a department store only to find that my spare tire was also flat. I was in a real pickle, but luckily, I had roadside assistance with both Consumer Cellular and my insurance company, Progressive.

I decided to use Consumer Cellular's roadside service since I was already paying for it. But let me tell you, it was a nightmare. I was on hold for a whopping 55 minutes before I finally reached a representative. And what did they tell me? That I had to dial a different number and that I didn't even have roadside assistance on my account! I knew that wasn't true, so I pushed back. Eventually, the representative found my roadside assistance on my account.

But in the meantime, I told her that I was fed up with this little tire mishap and with Consumer Cellular in general. I mentioned that I was also waiting for my new phone from Apple using my Apple insurance, and that I was paying for three Consumer Cellular lines. I told her that I would be canceling all of them. I was so angry that I could have canceled them right then and there if it weren't for the inconvenient timing.

Let me tell you, this company is straight trash. All those TV commercials about them winning best customer service? It's a lie! When I called the second number, I reached a Puerto Rican guy who was extremely unprofessional and curt. He even hung up in my face after asking me to verify the type of car I had. I verified the car, but then I remembered that they never asked me what kind of car I had when I signed up for roadside service. So, I told him that they never registered what kind of car I had.

This smart-mouthed jerk said, "This is a cell phone company. Why would we ask you about the kind of car you drive? We deal with cell phones, not cars." I was so angry that I had to bite my tongue to keep from cursing him out. But before I could even say anything, he said, "Well, I guess you don't need roadside assistance. You have a nice day," and hung up in my face.

I was sitting in front of a department store, waiting for over an hour with both calls combined just to speak to someone. And this jerk just hung up in my face! This wasn't the first bad experience I've had with Consumer Cellular, and I'm starting to think that they allow their representatives to speak to customers however they want. I was livid when he hung up in my face. When I called back, I got a different representative, but by that time, I was so frustrated that I just hung up and called Progressive.

Let me tell you, Progressive got down to business. Someone answered the phone within two minutes, and I had a roadside assistance helper in front of me in 25 minutes. Consumer Cellular, you are straight trash, and I can't wait to get rid of you. I'm laying in my bed right now, waiting for 8 o'clock to come so I can get up and get my new tire put on. Then, I'm going to get my new phone from Apple Care and make sure everything is clear. After that, I'm going to call Consumer Cellular and tell them to kick rocks.

It was a mistake leaving my old company to go to Consumer Cellular. I truly believe that at some point, a company becomes ineffective for you. And that's when you have to hold for 55 minutes just to speak to an agent, and then the agent ends up being rude. So, if you're looking for a new cell service, look the other way because Consumer Cellular is not the one! Too many companies now are blaming their lack of good customer service on the pandemic, but that's just not an excuse.

Consumer Cellular Consumer Cellular Review: Unreliable Service and Poor Customer Support

I have been using Consumer Cellular for a while now, but I think it's time for me to switch to a different company. I have been having a lot of trouble with them lately, and it's been a real hassle. I have been fighting with them for four days now, and I even had to make a 60-mile round trip to a Target where they are located because they don't have a store. I did what I was told to do by 20 different people, and each one had a different solution to my problem. There is no consistency on what the problem is, and they won't make AT&T, who they have chosen for their provider, fix the issue. I left AT&T after 25 years because of their bad service and came to Consumer Cellular, but now they have let go of two of their tower providers and kept the worst one, AT&T. If you've ever had trouble with AT&T or are having trouble with them now, this is the reason why.

Consumer Cellular doesn't even have their webpage set up correctly. You can't get to chat, and you can barely get to your account to see it and pay it. They are just not worth the hassle or the money at this point. I have to repeat myself over and over, and then 5 minutes later, they ask me the same thing. They don't listen to you, and they think they know it all when they know very little. They are stubborn and hardheaded and refuse to keep after AT&T until they fix the problem. Their problem fixer is a master reset of your phone, and I don't know how many of you out there have ever had to have that done, but I have, and I lost all my information doing that, even after the phone being backed up to iCloud. They said that AT&T is requiring that, and I said no about 5 different times now just to this one person, and they refuse to keep putting in trouble reports until AT&T finally fixes this problem.

I am writing this hoping this will help some of you out there that are having problems. It is not only AT&T causing them, but the lack of Consumer Cellular helping you get AT&T to do something about it. I hope that they can fix their issues soon, but until then, I would recommend looking for a different provider.

Consumer Cellular Phone # [protected] not connected to the network. Not satisfactory consumer cellular’services

My name is Rosecleia Cummings. My Consumer Cellular phone number is [protected]. Since YESTERDAY, March/05/24, I HAVE NO CONNECTION. I had to bother someone else to use her phone to call Consumers Cellular and they put me on hold for several minutes, and no body came to talk to me. It is very FRUSTRATED and DISAPOINTED. I am UNABLE to make or receiving any calls. Now, is 07:02 in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, and am not able to be in touch with anybody to RESOLVE this problem.

Desired outcome: PLEASE, CONNECT MY PONE WITH THE NETWORK.

Consumer Cellular Switching to consumer cellular

IMO These people are incompetent. I switched from Verizon to Consumer Cellular and they completely botched the whole thing leaving me with no cell service.

They put my number on my wife's phone and could not fix it. They lied to me and told me my phone was not esim capable when I know for a fact that it is. They told me I could pick up a physical Sim card from a local store. This was at 9pm.

In the end I had to take a day off work to get my phones put back on the Verizon network and I was unable to keep the phone numbers my wife and I have had for nearly 5 years.

I would not recommend this provider to anyone.

Consumer Cellular Bill dispute

I was a loyal customer for years. My cellphone service was terrible. I finally decided to switch carriers. I contacted Consumer cellular and was informed that my sons and wives phone number would be locked. It took over a month for consumer cellular to UNLOCK our phones. I was billed by both carriers. I contacted CC corporate and they did nothing. I’m a senior citizen on disability.

Consumer Cellular Cannot access website because of cloudflare

I was trying to get some help with my husband’s phone, so I decided to go to consumer Cellular’s website to see if I could figure out why he keeps getting a message that he has no signal because he was dropped by the carrier.

I could not access the consumer cellular website because a page comes up asking me to verify I am human, but you click the box, and over and over it just keeps popping up that box. I use Duck Duck Go so I clicked off Privacy Protection to see if that changed anything, but no. I asked someone I called at Consumer Cellular, but she said no one was saying anything about having a problem, so maybe it was a glitch. Wait until tomorrow and try again. That’s when I went to see what cloudflare is. Apparently it replaces CAPCHA, but there are complaints all over about it not working! Consumer Cellular Billing

Today, Nov 4, 2023 I called to settle my past due bill of $290.57. My last bill was $172. 51. The last bill was for the billing period for September and October. On the aforementioned date, my bill is $290. and change. Another billling cycle was added to the bill for November. Being that my phone service was off as of 11/1/23, I needed a proration on the November bill.

I spoke with a CSR a Supervisor named Wesly and another Supervisor named Tyler, who gave me his badge number #73665. No one wanted to give me the prorated amount for my bill. Tyler, they just wanted to collect the bill. I was told that CC bills AFTER the service is use. Well, I haven't used any service, so why am I being asked to pay for a full month's of service.

I am still without service and was unable to pay my bill.

Claimed loss: Continued loss of service even though I called in to settle my account.

Desired outcome: Proration on the November charges of service. I called in on Nov. 24th, 2023 to settle September, October and November's bill. My service was was turned off on Nov. 1, 2023.

Consumer Cellular Cell phone

Jose at at the Consumer Cellular counter in Northridge was very unhelpful. He said he was the manager while the employee was more knoweldgeable and helpful. The employee let me know I had an active protection plan but was not able to reach anyone on the phone since it was a few minutes after hours and said I can come back another day. I went back today. That employee was not there. I spoke with Jose who only gave me a couple pamphlets and would not call and make the call like the employee. This manager Jose should not be the manager. Consumer Cellular can hire anyone to just hand out pamphlets.

Consumer Cellular Still be charged, after closing account.

On November 1, 2023, we paid our cell phone account in full. A little later on, that day, November 1, 2023, we changed our cell phone provider.

We're informed that the month we paid for, was for the month of October.

So on November 1, we're informed oh, you still have to pay for the whole month of November.

We've been loyal customers of Consumer Cellar since the year, 2008.

Now that really sucks, We're doing our best for our home.

Maybe you're not aware, of what's happening to seniors.

Can you please address this issue?

Consumer Cellular My service of making phone calls is NOT working!

Hello, I talked to one of your reps one evening, mentioning my phone calls can not be completed since Sept. 23 rd, 23! I was ok w/my Facebook and Messenger working, but now it's downright horrible that I cannot use the calling part of my phone! It's an UMIDIGI Smart phone. Your company had just sent me the new Sim card in early September...My son said the triangle on top of the phone does not show active, it's next to the WiFi symbol, he tried everything he could to make the phone work, also did the Updates, which I had not done. Ok, what is my option now? Go to Target and get another Sim card, the nearest Target store is over 30 miles away...

Consumer Cellular Wireless service billing

I closed my account in april. I canceled autopay. It's sept, I am still getting billed. I have called the rude customer service. They want me to set up a code. I told the the a account is closed. I have no codes. My lg in never worked.

They are charging me for a month I didn't use. Refuse to give a itemized bill.

Sent me emails after I blocked them. I tried to give another rude rep. The account number on he email. The guy hung up n me,

Consumer Cellular Customer service individual who was extremely rude

At approximately 3:30 PM on Thursday, September 7th, 2023, I called Consumer Cellular customer service for help with returning a cell phone I had purchased from them. The customer service woman I spoke with was extremely condscending and rude. She repeatedly interrupted me when I tried to ask questions and explain my concerns about the return of the phone. It was clear that she had no regard at all when it came to showing respect for a Consumer Cellular customer. My Consumer Cellular account number is: [protected].

Consumer Cellular Commercial is very insulting

I've seen the latest Consumer Cellular commercial, & it's extremely condescending. "Smart enough now?" it asks. Of course, one can't email the company to register one's displeasure with the condescending nature of the latest [censored]ic commercial, but I did call & got hung up on. Bottom line is I'd never use the company as it assumes that everyone is stupid if one doesn't use them for cellular service, & several of my friends (mostly seniors) absolutely agree. And AARP partners with them, so I'd never use AARP either - EVER. Stop treating us as if we were stupid - it's not a good look.

Consumer Cellular Defective Moto G play that can't be activated

I have been trying to get a MotoG play activated since last Friday. 3 C/C techs have verified that the phone is defective and cannot be activated. After 2 trips to Target over the weekend and a conference call with a supervisor (not a rep) I was assured by that supervisor she would get back to me within 24 hours. It is now Weds. afternoon and no response of any kind. I have talked to at least 4 people at C/C and not one has offered to help correct the situation. I am 79 years old and needed that phone as I am disabled and have health issues. I live alone and must have a phone. I had to purchase one from Target while I was there. Can't someone please help me? Consumer Cellular no service

I have been a customer of Consumer Cellular for 3 years. In the past 6 months my service has been very bad. I can make out going phone calls, but the party on the other end can never hear me. I have to either walk into the street in front of my home and walk about a block away for them to partially hear me. Then the other party says I sound like I'm "under water". This service has gotten progressively worse. I cannot even call the phone company! My family has two phones with Consumer Cellular and both phones have the same problem. My phone is less than 2 years old. The second phone is 7 months old.

Please help resolve, thank you.

Desired outcome: I would like full service, again.
