Disgusting company
Disgusting company. I'm payin almost $1500 a month for an old basement apartment in City Park Court, with no full-sized windows, no control over the heat in the winter, and no A/C. The apartment has swarms of ants comin in through the walls, mice infestations, and spiders everywhere. The sink spews out black, foul smellin gunk from the apartments above us. No parking. Slum lord owners. Don't rent through Cornerstone.
This place is run by corporate slumlords, and it's contaminated with black mold
This place is run by corporate slumlords, and it's contaminated with black mold. We had to report it. We also got evicted as retaliation, based on circumstantial evidence, after a property manager started an argument. He didn't even do his basic job of getting a smoke detector. Then, Alley, another property manager, mocked her tenant. We have it all on film. These people treat their tenants poorly, even though most tenants make more money than them. They are the most unprofessional group of people I've ever seen. It takes weeks to get anything fixed. Once, a tenant left and they claimed the tenant left the water running. This tenant was a teacher for *** Public schools and didn't do such a thing. The water ran for over a week, causing hundreds of gallons of water to spill into the apartment walls. The property managers, *** and Ally, did nothing but paint over the water damage. Now, black mold is seeping through the walls and water is still bubbling up. I called two places about it, and one will come to test the mold in this building. I don't recommend renting from these people unless you want to rent from inexperienced individuals who can't handle themselves or manage properties properly.

This morning, my maintenance guy came into my apartment without asking
This morning, my maintenance guy came into my apartment without asking. I was really surprised and caught off guard. I asked him if he had permission to come in, and he said it was because of a maintenance request form that was submitted last night. The request was made under my name, but I didn't make it. The new manager, *** Yttrberg, confirmed with me this morning that he put the request under my name without me knowing about it. This is a big problem because I have a dog, and it's a serious safety issue to allow someone to enter without telling the tenants. This is just one of the many issues I'm having. It's not only putting me at risk, but also the staff, which is ridiculous. When I confronted *** about it, he couldn't handle being in the wrong, so he hung up on me. He really doesn't act professionally.
So, I had this recent thing happen at Cornerstone Apartment Services, Inc
So, I had this recent thing happen at Cornerstone Apartment Services, Inc. It all started on 7/21 when this new tenant moved in above me. Let me tell you, they were totally breaking the lease agreement and causing a lot of trouble. Their dog was left alone for a whopping 8 hours every day, and that little furball just wouldn't stop barking. I mean, it was barking all day long, even at night and in the early morning.
Now, here's the kicker. This isn't the first time I've had to deal with this nonsense at this place on 9th and *** (I won't say the full name, you know). I've had to go through this whole ordeal three times already. So, I reached out to the property managers, hoping they would do something about it. But guess what? They didn't enforce the lease, and they didn't even let me talk to someone higher up in the corporate ladder. Talk about frustrating!
Because of all this, I had no choice but to leave. My mental health was suffering, my sleep quality was going down the drain, and it was affecting my work. I just couldn't handle living with such inconsiderate neighbors and property managers who didn't care. But here's the real kicker: they made me pay a lease break fee! Can you believe it? They're making me follow the lease, but other tenants with dogs get away with breaking the rules.
Overall, my experience with Cornerstone Apartment Services, Inc. has been a real headache. I wouldn't recommend it to anyone who values their peace of mind and fair treatment.
The landlord at this place (been working for about 3 months) has been misusing her power in the building
The landlord at this place (been working for about 3 months) has been misusing her power in the building. People haven't been able to park in their assigned spots since this landlord started. There are many cars from outside in the parking lot with no consequences, while residents' cars are being moved. When residents complain, she responds with extreme hostility and lies, saying they were never assigned a parking spot in the first place. Recently, she locked the laundry room because she thinks someone stole her laundry from there, and she won't let residents use it until the issue is resolved. Most of us have been living here for years without any problems, but it's starting to feel like a scary place to live. Unfortunately, moving isn't an option for us due to financial and physical reasons. Please, please help us find a solution so we can all live peacefully and not fear any retaliation when we have legitimate concerns.

Don't apply!
Don't apply! They'll keep your deposit for stating you falsified information on your application! I applied and was told I would be placed back on the waiting list until my former landlord replied with my rental history with whether or not I owed a balance or got an eviction. Instead of being placed on a waiting list, I received an email stating I was denied due to unverified information. Why would anyone lie on an application and be willing to lose $250!? *** who works in the office told me I'd be placed on a waiting list until further notice but instead denied me, and she never received a definite answer from my previous landlord. People work hard for their money, and $250 is way too much money to just throw in the trash. I'm so glad this didn't work out in my favor because I can only imagine how horrible it must be to actually rent here if they are stealing money from people who are looking for a place to stay.
Moved in September 2022
Moved in September 2022. I put in a service request to fix my bedroom window on 9/2/22. They still haven't fixed it, even though the management company keeps closing out my maintenance requests without actually doing anything. I had to submit 4 service requests and call the property manager directly to get my dishwasher fixed, which I requested on December 15th. It took them two months to finally repair it, even though they were installing new dishwashers in other units they were renovating. The elevators have been broken for over a month now, but Cornerstone is still going full steam ahead with their renovations. Many of my neighbors have complained too, but nothing has been done. I can provide a PDF of the maintenance requests that were never addressed if necessary. It's time to call this management company what they really are - Cornerstone Slumlords. And good luck trying to sue me for defamation, because I have all the evidence to prove that my complaint is valid and supported by a clear electronic "paper trail" that can't be denied.
Cornerstone Apartment Services took over management of our apartment complex in 2021
Cornerstone Apartment Services took over management of our apartment complex in 2021. Before, the place was called "Beacon Hill Apartments," but now it's called "The ***." They started renovating the building and fixing up the apartments around 09/21. The noise from the construction is unbearable, and it's impossible to work from home. They also keep shutting off the water for repairs almost every week. It's been happening so much that we've gone without water for over 60 hours since September. I tried talking to the project manager and the apartment manager, but they didn't help at all. They said we wouldn't get any compensation for the inconveniences and that we should find somewhere else to work if it's too loud. I asked Cornerstone to give all residents a small discount for the two months of construction and to acknowledge the inconvenience they caused, but they said no. On top of that, they're raising the rent for all apartments in our building by around ***+ per month. It seems like they're trying to make living here as uncomfortable as possible so they can get new tenants faster.
Cornerstone is about to displace me from my residence AGAIN through no fault of my own
Cornerstone is about to displace me from my residence AGAIN through no fault of my own. I was told when I lived at *** court that after being targeted and victimized by a tenant with mental issues, I had to leave at the end of the lease because the portfolio manager took the really crazy tenant's word without even speaking to me first. The worst part is they submitted this to the lawyers, and the portfolio manager did not want to be caught up for their mistake. I had mounds of proof and evidence that I was the one being targeted and constantly harassed by this crazy person. The crazy person, however, had zero proof of anything she stated I did and was asked to move also. I still had to move anyway because it was already set in motion by attorneys. This was on my dime, all because the mistake was never acknowledged. Anyway, skip forward a few years and boom, along comes Cornerstone to take over the management of the building I live in (doing a terrible job at it too). Cornerstone won't renew my lease now because they want to freely price *** some other poor shmuck from out of state. This marks the second time Cornerstone has displaced me from the place I call home. I've got ten apartments that will be vacant at the end of the contract. People in this building will back me. This new portfolio manager is mean and full of spite and retaliation. I hate dealing with this person; they really make me uneasy and uncomfortable.
I live in an undisclosed location
I live in an undisclosed location. I don't have anything good today about management here aside from the fact that they are responsive, which sadly isn't indicative of their efficiency. I moved in last spring and faced consistent power outages for almost 3 months due to improper wiring. Two units were connected to a single 20amp breaker. After numerous complaints and months of waiting, electricians partially fixed it. Despite assurances from the leasing agent, I've been battling roaches nightly since my arrival. Pest control treatments are ineffective and short-lived, and the management won't seek a better solution. I'm highly allergic to pest droppings, which are scattered throughout my cabinets. Additionally, I discovered my unit lacked proper ventilation, leading to mold accumulation. Although a hidden fan was eventually found and replaced, mold persists due to poor sealing around the shower. My allergies to mold are severe, and despite raising this issue, the building manager has shown no concern, even though local regulations take mold seriously. Cornerstone apartments have repeatedly violated the warranty of habitability and remain unchecked.

On November 28th, I was at my girlfriend's place in the city flats, located at 854 North Main st. We were having dinner when suddenly we heard rapid gunfire outside. I quickly got up, put on my shoes, and grabbed her gun (we bought it because of all the theft, vandalism, and homeless people doing drugs in the parking area). When I went to the parking area, I saw two cops. To my surprise, my car, which was parked in the handicapped area with proper tags displayed in the mirror, had been shot multiple times. I informed the cops that it was my car, and they asked about the gun I had. Unfortunately, they promptly arrested me for it. The next morning, without any warning, the property manager, Mr. Ytterburg, had my car towed. They didn't even give my girlfriend enough time to come down to the jail, retrieve my keys, and move it. My girlfriend emailed and complained, but his response was dismissive, saying it was probably a drug deal gone wrong. As if that wasn't enough, he also gave her a ten-day notice to pay or quit, falsely accusing her of letting me live there, which is not true. After I was released from jail, I went to Wyatts Tow Yard, the predatory tow company that Cornerstone hired, and they told me the tow bill was ridiculously high. When I asked why my car was towed, they said the authorization form mentioned 'possibly abandonment,' but it was more like 'possibly stolen.' They never bothered to ask my girlfriend if she could move it. Inside the car, there was approximately a significant amount of new merchandise, not to mention the car itself was worth around 10 or eleven thousand dollars. Now, I'm inconvenienced without a car. I have had a lot of traumatic brain injuries (TBI), and I'm trying to get around to make doctors' appointments and get the treatment I need to get my life back on track. Unfortunately, because of Mr. Ytterburg's actions, my life is worse off than ever before. I do have receipts for everything of value that was in the car. I just wish I had my car so I could get around. This setback has left me with little hope of recovering at this point.
I pay my lease, around $1450 a month
I pay my lease, around $1450 a month. They give me an apartment. This deal includes a lease, which has a provision that gives me privacy in my unit. For example, it says that the agent can enter the premises at any reasonable time for inspection, repairs, showing the place to others, or any other necessary purpose. They can also enter without notice in certain situations. This doesn't mean they can evict me or that they are responsible for any inconvenience or discomfort. The rent doesn't stop during their reentry. They can even deny access to the premises if there's a court order against a resident.
They use this provision to conduct random unit inspections over the next 30 days between 9am and 5pm. They choose the units randomly. I don't have to be home during this time, but if I am, the inspection will only take 10 minutes. They consider this as a 24-hour written notice.
I think a 30-day window for entry without notice is not fair. Why not give a 180-day notice for no apparent reason (entry at their discretion, but I should at least get a reason when possible) and just ignore paragraph 24 completely? I've told them my concerns, but it hasn't made any difference.

Cornerstone is my property management company
Cornerstone is my property management company. In less than 3 weeks I have had 2 bats enter my apartment unit. We are unaware of how the bats are getting into the apartment. Cornerstone has done very little to remedy the issue, especially since their first attempt had failed and we had another bat get in. By mandate of Denver animal control, my roommate, her sister and I were instructed to receive post exposure rabies shots, and Cornerstone is refusing to cover the medical expenses associated with our potential exposure to rabies. We believe this is a violation of our lease agreement. I now have reason to believe that there is a larger bat colony living within the infrastructure of the apartment building and have video proof of it. Cornerstone has done nothing to address the bats living in the building or in the chimneys. If there is a bat infestation inside the walls, there is potentially bat guano as well which becomes a hazmat issue. Cornerstone is not offering me any solution to addressing this. I no longer feel safe in my apartment and are not being helpful in regards to moving us to a new apartment.

I applied for an apartment on July 8 at approximately 7:00 pm
I applied for an apartment on July 8 at approximately 7:00 pm. It cost $50 to apply and $150 for them to hold the apartment for 5 days ($30/day) to account for their lost revenue if they were to hold it for 5 days. I called them back on July 9 at 10:00 am and spoke with ***, who told me she just got started on my application. I asked her to cancel it and asked if she could refund me my fair share, which I believe would be about $120 to account for 4 days (at $30/day) that I didn't have them hold the apartment. She said she would check and see. I checked their website and the particular apartment I applied for was put back on the market, so I thought they might refund me as I didn't have them hold it for 5 days to account for the $150 ($30/day). I called her back on July 10 at 11:30 am and asked if she was able to refund it and she said no. She said I was approved, which was either a lie or she continued with my application even though I asked her to stop. She said company policy was to not refund me. This is an especially inconsiderate move during the COVID-19 pandemic. Money is hard to come by right now and they took a lot of money from me. One could dispute whether or not I was owed the money back and not, but this company does not have integrity. When you own a business, there are gestures of good will and this company does not do gestures of good will. You never know when something out of your control can happen, and one should want to work with a company that has integrity and can do the right thing, even if it means going against a technicality in a contract. I did not have them take the apartment off the market for more than half a day, and they took a 5 day deposit as if it was nothing.
