Citibank Costco Credit Card #[protected] (cancelled)
I have been a loyal Costco customer for almost 40 years. To my surprise I was charged 207 individual $49.99 unauthorized charges on June 23, 2023 for a total of over $10,000 on my Costco Citibank card. We called Citibank on June 23rd and told them that these are not our charges and cancelled that card.
It all started with our Citibank card being compromised which resulted in these 207 unauthorized transactions. We never gave our credit card to these so-called merchants. We don’t even know who they are. We have been working with Citibank but they are saying since we were scammed it’s our problem. Why isnt Citibank treating this as obvious unauthorized transactions and go after the guilty party. Citibank should deal with this, not us.
I loved the benefits that the Costco Citibank card gave us as an executive member, but now we had to cancel our Citibank card. Citibank customer service is a joke. We started with the fraud department, then disputes, then the security department and now we have no idea if they will put back in disputes. Any other credit card company would realize these charges aren’t ours and never put this burden on the customer. We are losing sleep over this issue. These charges should have never been allowed. What company’s security system would not have stopped these charges immediately? None that I know of.
I am hopeful that Costco can help to get this resolved. We did not authorize and we will not pay these charges or accrued interest. This is a Costco’s Citibank Visa problem, not ours.
Desired outcome: I want to restore my trust in Costco. I want this to go away. As I said, this is your credit card company’s problem, not ours.
