dhl did not hand deliver package in nyc
A box sent to our office to my attention never arrived. The tracking receipt shows "LD LOF" in the signed for area which we are told means that it was left by the front door. Ours is a small building with lots of security and every messenger knows that it is strictly forbidden to leave any packages unattended in front of any office doors. Additionally, there was no reason to leave the box by the door because our office was open for business at 10:13am on the day of the "supposed" delivery. Our request to talk to the actual messenger who delivered the package have gone ignored. We have reason to believe the messenger lost the package and have no clue where it is...

I called DHL to reschedule a delivery---the DHL rep kept me on hold 34 minutes and was very rude. I emailed the corporate office and confirm that my package will be redelivered 2/1/08 AM *but no guarantee it will be early morning. The corporate rep suggested that I call that morning to check the status of my package. Once I called I was informed that per my "request" it was changed to PM delivery by the same rep I complained the prior day -- but It was not a personal issue. Also that their phone calls at the "station" are not recorded in order to review my "request". At the end I had DHL send the package back to the retailer **if not God only knew when I would get this package. The rep would have continue to change the delivery day & time.
Package was suppose to arrive 10-13-08 still have not got it. Dhl said it was last scanned at waco, tx. Customer service *** like *** still have not located package out 140.00 for package to be lost and no one gives a ***. Have been advised package would be deliver the next day guess what nothing. Please do not use this fake *** company for nothing. customer always supposed to be first this is incorrect with company, they don't give a ***. Was advised they have 95% delivery rate but hard to convince someone who hasn't got their package. Please stay away from dhl!

My Aunt send me a courier through DHL on 11th August. untill now i did not recieve anything, when i contacted with the Airbill no# they said it's been delivered already. to find this thing i spent money & my time but i couldn't find any records that they delivered to my working place. but finally i found out that they delivered to another person. my concern is how they can submit such a important courier to another person coz in the courier clearly mentioned all details. i need your kind attention on this subject & i need my courier as soon as possible.it is very urgent for me.

I orderd a package from Hong kong, On the 9th of july Dhl left me a unsuccessful delivery attempt, I than went online and requested Dhl if i can pick up my parcel from one of their office I waited a week for a response and didnt get one, This morning i called Dhl and they just told me that some by the name of Kayla C has signed for my package and it was left at the reception, the thing is I dont have a reception and how can Dhl be so careless and give my parcel to just anyone, can some one please help me please and tell me what to do next.

If you called customer service and were as irrational as you are in this post, its no wonder nobody could assist you. But I will try.
It sounds like you were supposed to receive a package on Oct 13, 2008. The last scan shows it arrived at the Waco TX truck hub. When you called customer service the rep should have been able to initiate a dock search and email the hub. The rep should have then called you back by end of day or sometime the next day with the result of the search.
Unfortunately, there are good and bad people everywhere. If you call ANY customer service office and are dissatisfied with the answer, hang up and call again. Chances are you will get a competent rep who will work for you and tell you the truth.

The customer service rep should not have been rude, nor should you have been put on hold for any length of time for a request of redelivering a package. That is poor customer service in any light. However, as you stated, it was a RE-delivery. In a business where time is of the essence, and time guarantees are made, you must understand that an am redelivery is not an option. All courier services have am delivery guarantees for next day services. If they start scheduling re-delivery request during those hours, they will not be able to meet the commitments of those guaranteed deliveries. If your package was legitimately attemtped during the guaranteed time frame on the scheduled date, then after that time, any re-attempt comes after the next days guaranteed commitments are met. YOu always have the option of picking your package up at the service center in most cases.
Also, when you call customer service you are getting just that, a customer service office. It is not the local service center, as they are not manned to handle phone calls. Their job is to take care of the packages, customer service takes care of the customers. The customer serivce rep has no control over the delivery of the package. THey simply send the request and the rest falls to the hands of the service center. Unfortunately, sometimes agents( at both levels) are not completely upfront and do not provide complete accurate information to the customer. This is what leads to problems. What I can reccommend is that you obtain the name( first and last-preferably at the beginning of your call- as well as what call center and the time of day you called, so you have a record to fall back on in the event that you are provided poor information. Unfortunately, the only way to get it through the heads of corporate that there needs to be accountability is that customers need to stand up and take action. Maybe if enough people stand up and voice their opinion regarding the problem at hand then they will start to realize that they way they are looking at the whole customer service issue is wrong and the focus must be on quality service to the customer and resolving their issues, and agents need to be held accountable for the information they provide to the customers.

DHL driver was specified to ring (noted on the package). He didn't bother. He didn't bother to request a signature either.

Checking online about status, today (13/12/2013) at 8:00 am, seems that my parcel is still on the road... . When I phoned DHL to make a complaint, I've been told it's been weather condition's fault and therefore I am not entitled to submit a complaint. Now, my question is: why should I trust such a huge company as DHL to deliver promptly my correspondence (and, not least, pay the fee for express delivery), if an unpredictable factor can delay a parcel because 'there is only one flight per day'? My parcel was on hold for a whole day, because of the weather. What about commitment?

I purchased an item from an e-tailer. They shipped package on January 10 from Tennessee. I reached DHL's Riverside, CA warehouse on the 13. A total of four days for 2000 miles. DHL moved package to Los Angeles warehouse on the 14th. Then on the 15th, they either moved it to another Los Angeles warehouse or shifted the package within the same warehouse. Finally on the evening of the 15th, they claim the package is ready for delivery. I assume this means it will be put on a truck for delivery on the 16th. The last 60 miles took three days. My package sat around their warehouse for no apparent reason for over 24 hours.
i know how you feel my package is seemingly lost in transit. no ones giving me a straight answer. dhl said they would call me in an 2 hours to tell were my package is . they called and said it was just leaving colorado. i said the web site said it was in riverside california. she checked then agreed with me. now i believe they have lost my 130lb package. poof vanished!

dhl non delivery and theft!
I contacted O2 about upgrading my contract on my mobile phone and getting a new phone after being with O2 for several years. I upgraded and was to receive a new O2 XDA pda phone in the post the following day. I received several E mails from O2 confirming the dispatch of the phone to DHL. I was given a tracking number to track the delivery and thus checked as to when this would delivered. I am a teacher so i requested the phone be delivered to the school where i could be summonsed by the Office staff to sign for my new phone. Upon looking at the tracking I found it telling me the item had been delivered and signed for by a Mr Taylor. I looked in the office and asked the office staff if anyone had seen or signed for a parcel from DHL. No one had. The head teacher of the school is Mr K Taylor. and this is written on the school sign however On the day of the delivery Mr Taylor was absent after an operation. The courier DHL told me it had been signed for by Mr Taylor and they had his signature, something impossible as he was not in school and had not be once I had spoken to him. DHL say they are investigating but cannot do much now hey have a signature. This is a joke as O2 May not replace the phone on the strength that it was signed for. What a rip off. If you want a new phone, do yourself a favor and avoid delivery, go t a shop.
I'm a US citizen in Germany and needed to renew my passport. US Consulate Frankfurt requires a DHL express envelope for returning the passport. I did everything as instructed and tracked my passport coming back to me. DHL courier says he delivered the envelope today at 11:30 am. NO DELIVERY. NEVER ARRIVED. The DHL courier STOLE my PASSPORT! He was never here and entered false information saying he delivered the envelope. ( DHL is doing nothing about it. I now need to go to the police, travel 5 hours to the embassy in Berlin and wait 4 weeks for another. I have a flight in 2 weeks I must cancel. I also cannot pay for a hotel until another passport comes 4-6 weeks.
I had a package sent to my home from India. The company paid for the shipping and delivery. I got a notice on my phone a day before they said they were going to return it if I did not send $700.00 dollars for import tax and delivery. They did not say what the package was or where it was from but as I was not expecting anything else I knew what it was but did not know how to get in touch with them. THen i faxed my claim form to their claim department. No response AT ALL.
SO I call the claim department. Very funny, they told me without the TRACKING NUMBER, they will just throw away my claim form.
WTF, then I explain this whole thing again.
But the guy is like a machine and repeating:"i am sorry, without a waybill number, theres nothing i can do. Please contact our costumer service".

I work for DHL customer service and I have a few comments about this.
When you ship, there is a waybill attached to the package.
If it is in 3 layers, you as the shipper keep the top copy.
If its just a label, then you need to write down the tracking number.
The tracking # might also be referred to as the awb or waybill #.
As the shipper you do have some responsibility for knowing how the process works. If you have a question, call DHL customer service and ask before you ship. Or take the package to a nearby shipping center.
If you call customer service without the tracking #, the rep will attempt to locate the # using the "zip to zip search". Using the zip of the sender (you) and the zip of the receiver. Also need to give the date of shipment.
Or, if it is less than 7 days since the pickup, we can look up the pickup. After that the system doesn't keep a record.
If DHL didn't pick it up, then its not in the system and so won't honor a loss claim.
I don't know what to tell you about the driver. They don't nec have to give you anything, because you have already noted the tracking # as mentioned above. Did you leave the package at the front door for pickup, or did the driver knock at your door?
Did you witness the driver picking up the guitar? Did the driver use the scanner at pickup? If left at your front door, Is it possible it was stolen by some passer-by?
I'm sorry you lost your guitar, I would be angry too. I see you post is pretty old; I just wanted to give you an idea of how it works from my side.

I ordered an I phone yesterday through ATT and they express shipped via DHL. I have never received the package although they say they have delivered it. ATT will not send me a new phone. DHL will cover up to $100 for loss or damage of an item. If you package is $400 and not covered by DHL's shipper protection, you should still be covered for the $100.

I am having a horrible problem with DHL at the moment. I am talking with all kinds of DHL representatives in two countries, but my box is sitiing in custom office without any movement for a 30 days. All problem is that some clerk just don't do their job. I spent 100's dollars for telephone and shipment and still are at point zero. Can anybody tell me how to find executives from DHL? I need to talk with someone who can do a job.
As for this lost iPhone, this is obviously not the fault of AT&T. Did you get a copy of the shipment summary from AT&T? Make sure that you have obtained this so that you can present it to higher management at DHL and verify that the item had in fact shipped and the status of the final destination. Also contact AT&T about having not insured the package. The best thing I'd say you can do is COMPLAIN, COMPLAIN, COMPLAIN to DHL. Do not stop until you've come to a resolution. I know I've been able to recover cost of packages lost through UPS by this method.. I hope that maybe this can help you!

DHL is a joke as a delivery service. I ordered a camera for my daughter from Kodak (Memphis,TN). This was shipped overnight on December 22nd. Today it is December 27th and I still have no camera. It has been sitting in their facility since December 24th, it was scanned in at 7:10 am. They put on the tracking info that I requested it be held there waiting for me to pick it up. That is the first lie of many that this company has told in regard to this delivery, or should I say non-delivery. I've been told high volume over the holidays (hello... it's Christmas), bad weather (hello... it's December in the Northwest... it snows here), two delivery drivers quit... two hours later 4 drivers quit... It has been lie after lie. Joe from customer service (wow... he is in the wrong department) was rude and arrogant - he told me it will be delivered by Friday! All I can say is don't let your packages be delivered by this pathetic company. Stick with UPS or Fed-Ex, they have delivery services not excuses! - Monica.
To the original poster... Are you serious? You ship something overnight on A SATURDAY before christmas. DHL (and UPS and FedEx) do not pick up or process most locations on Saturdays, and definately not on Sundays. Monday, December 24 was Christmas Eve, and chances are there was limited movement on that day since it is like one of the absolute BUSIEST days for shipping companies, and wonder why it is still there on Dec. 26. UPS, DHL, and FedEx all put disclaimers out that shipping IS NOT guaranteed during the last week before and the week following Christmas.
Next year, ship earlier. It is late because you procrastinated.
I am having the same problem!I had some inventory coming in from Italy that was guaranteed to arrive by Monday, Mar 31.
It shows the package aarived in Charlottesville at 7:32 am on Monday, and it has been sitting there ever since. It is now Wednesday, APril 2.
What is mindboggling is that noone can explain why it has not been delivered!
I have never had this kind of problem with FEDEX. I told them I expect a refund and they admitted they owe it, but lets see if I get it.

Overnight package send via DHL on dec10 as of dec22 can not even get an answer at DHL. When you finally wade through the automated messages. You are informed the hold time is greater than 15 minutes and call back during business hours. Well my wife and myself both have called since the 12th and still no package. This has to be the worse customer service not to mention delivery in the world.

I have been forced to use DHL on three occasions by ordering online from a website and the website sending through DHL only and I have had nothing but HORRIBLE service from DHL every time. The most recent this week! I paid $160 extra for next business day delivery and the company sent it through DHL and I have waited three days now and was just told by DHL that they don't "guarantee" next business day after the 16th of December! They don't care if I paid extra or not!
I asked if I could drive down to the distribution center and pick it up myself and was told NO that they were not going to go look on the pallet for my order and that I had to wait until an "attempt" to deliver the package had been made before I could "try" to pick up the package the following day from the distribution center. We are talking about thousands of dollars worth of computer equipment!
The last delivery before this one from DHL showed up 4 days late and the delivery driver was rude and obnoxious from the moment I opened the door. He was dressed in ripped jeans and he smelled like alcohol! Is THAT really the image they are trying to portray? They don't even ring the doorbell. You have to listen to hear a truck pull up then RUN to the door and open it or they just sneak up and tape an "attempted delivery" sticker on your door.
I actually caught the guy trying to do it the last time! He hadn't even taken my package out of his truck! He just snick up to the door with the sticker and when I opened the door on him he was reaching to post the sticker on it and was surprised! I had to actually ASK him to get my package out of the truck. He said "I wasn't expecting anyone to be here!" So you don't even bother to ring the doorbell or knock?

I have been using DHL for over 5 years, I have to admit that their non US service is great, once packages leave the US they get delivered on time. I recently discovered a billing error where DHL surcharged me over $1000.00 to ship a large package to Saudi Arabia. Luckily I had my DHL quote and package information recorded. I created a billing dispute and DHL refused to correct the issue, I started the process back in February and I realize that I was dealing with complete idiots! They refused to recognize that their were billing me for package dimensions that exceeded manufacturer packaging specs, it is almost if the package grew within DHL sort system. After multiple emails and certified letters, DHL continues to call me on weekly basis looking for payment and I have to tell them every time that the invoice is not over due, it is in dispute, all I asked them to do is correct their mistake. But hold on, it is a mistake or an opportunity to enhance revenue?
In talking with other EX DHL customers, I realized that DHL has a long history of padding the invoices. So buyer be aware, audit your invoices and do not give them your credit card.

Still remember I called many times at 4 o'clock in the afternoon, nobody answered.Well, I thought they were off already.
Again I called on another day morning at half past 9, still, amazingly, nobody picked the phone up. They wouldn't like picking up income calls, then why they have their meaningless phones installed!
An urgent email was sent to DHL in the morning, while its relpy was received in the late afternoon!
We needed clearing customs in time, can this manner be of any help?

been waiting for passport,original marrage licencse,and bith certificate(original) from canada passport office processing center.sent on dec. 18,2007 arrived at area hub on dec.19 according to tracking number checked on jan.7,2008. we're truck drivers and we had it sent to our terminal not knowing when it would be in or when we would be in our terminal,so we waited and waited till we realised the package should definitely be there by now.calling canada passport we got tracking number, saw it on computer it was last in the area hub the 19th, dhl said it was in the hub and we could come pick it up, we said they could deliver it since we were in salt lake city,ut., about 2074 miles away,and thats what they were paid to do.they said they where going to deliver it the next day! next day they said they couldn't find package. we made some phone calls got to supervisor on jan 9,2008 he said he'll look into it,the 10th we get a phone call recorded from dhl (recorded message) that our package was delivered on the 19th of dec..now until this time nothing of the sort showed on the tracking for deliver now we look on the tracking and thank you for miracles there it was,23 days later, with the name of the person who had signed for our package before... amazing how that stuff works.the person said she did not sign for it and she knew the importannce of this package and would call us as soon as it came in.now we need a letter from dhl to say the passport was lost,so we can give that to passport canada so they can issue us a new passprt, this should prove to be interesting since there computers are now say it was delivered...ain't corperate the best!
left expensive electronics outside in weather
Dell uses DHL shipping company to send electronics when purchased online. I purchased a very expensive piece of electronics and it was shipped by DHL out of California. I used the ability to track shipment online and saw they would attempt delivery on the 13th which is the day I was out of state on business. When I inquired, I was told Dell requires signatures on their electronics and they would attempt delivery and when I wasn't there, they would leave directions on my door how to pick up my delivery in person at their closest location. Dell also indicated signature required on my order. Just to make sure, I left a HUGE note on my door with a magnet clip telling the delivery person not to leave a package but to leave directions how I could pick it up next day (Friday) at their nearest location. when I returned home very late at night the 13th, there was the package, out in the weather, in plain sight on my doorstep. the note was still on my door, also in plain sight. when I complained to DHL, they sent back a canned email note "sorry we didn't meet your expectations". Dell has not responded. I won't buy from Dell again if they continue to use this shipper. I do not live in an area where electronics or other expensive items should be left in plain sight. I was so very lucky it wasn't stolen or badly damaged by weather. DHL is not a good shipping experience.
UPDATE: Dell responded and gave me a 15.00 credit for my inconvenience and were very responsive in their email reply. GREAT SERVICE from Dell. I just hope they don't use DHL in the future.

A little over a month ago I bought a laptop from Dell. The laptop was assembled in Nashville TN and shipped to me in Louisville KY (if you don't know where those two cities are, I invite you to use any of the online map services).
Dell of course shipped the laptop via DHL -- to turned a one day drive from Nashville to Louisville into a week-long odyssey while they bounced my laptop around two different facilities in Ohio and faked an "attempted delivery" before I finally got my laptop.
After I complained loudly to both DHL and Dell, I received both email and telephone assurances from Dell that I could get future orders without having them shipped via DHL.
In May, I ordered another Dell laptop and a mouse. Dell decided they would ship the mouse separately, with a projected ship date more than a week earlier than the laptop.
The ship date for the mouse came -- and Dell "delayed" the shipment giving a new projected ship date a week later (but still earlier than the laptop).
Today I checked the status on line and it said the order was "changed" (with no explanation of what was changed). The website gave a 800 number to call to find out what "changed" so I called the number. After wading through several layers of voice prompt menus I finally got someone in customer service (obviously overseas despite a fake American name) who first told me that the order was cancelled, not changed. Then told me that orders are never cancelled without notifying the customer; but that her system showed that my order was cancelled and did not show anything about anyone attempting to contact me. Her system also showed that my mouse had been cancelled for "incompatible configuration" meaning that the mouse I ordered (from Dell's website) was not compatible with the laptop I ordered (it was the mouse that Dell sells for this laptop when you order it online). After more than a half hour on the phone to get this much information, the girl offered to find the part number for the right mouse so I could reorder. Fifteen minutes later she had figured out that the part number for a wireless laptop mouse for a Dell Vostro laptop was the same number that they had just cancelled. She then transferred me to "Sales" for them to fix the problem.
At Sales I got someone who finally admitted that the order for the mouse had been cancelled because the shipping instructions were "Not DHL" and that wasn't allowed. (Keep in mind that Dell had had the order for over a week, had delayed it once, and had now cancelled it - all without bothering to contact the customer; and all without also canceling the order for the laptop itself which was also listed the same way "Not DHL")
I asked the Sales guy for his supervisor, so he transferred me to Dell's so-called Customer Care (not his supervisor), we went through the same nonsense all over again (now the third time) before the "Customer Care" lady passed me to her supervisor -- who assured me that no one could do anything about it because the computers are shipped by "Manufacturing" and "Customer Care" wasn't allowed to talk with Manufacturing.
His best (HA!) idea was that he could annotate the order for Customer Care to keep track of the order and keep track of the shipment so they would know where my package was at all times. When I pointed out that this did not give them any control over the shipment he eventually admitted that it was really just the same tracking information that any customer would have available on the DHL website (the same way that I had watched my previous laptop bounced between two DHL facilities in Ohio and watched when DHL said that they had "attempted delivery" while we were home).
By then I had been on the phone with Dell for one hour and twenty minutes and I had to leave for a meeting. The so-called "Customer Care" so-called "supervisor" was supposed to find out who had authority to do something and call me back -- of course he never did call back.

I have ordered 2 bottle of medication from U.S to be shipped to Canada by DHL. It was quite good at first since I could tracked the package status online. When it arrived to Ottawa, I tried to call them an arrange an delivery on Tuesday when I will be home. I spent my whole day home and waited for them. Noo one showed up. I continue to make myself available on Wed, I am absolutely sure I am at home at the time they came but they kept letting the notice that they missed me at the door. Finally, I was so upset when I checked the status online because I suspect something wrong, and that status said that they came on Thu. When I call the customer service center, it said that is the final delivery attempt but customer was not home. In fact, there was no notice at all on the door and I am absolutely made my self and my phone available all day on Thu. It means if I did not call the customers service, I would not know that I should pick up my package. The package is only available 5 days at the delivery center, and after that I will not know where my package is and I am sure they will said that is my fault. This is so annoying and I suggested not to use DHL ever even it is a little cheaper than other courier, it's just not worth wasting your time.

I just used DHL Services to send a suitcase from Paris to my friends in Barcelona who were leaving for a cruise. They needed their suitcase with their clothes. DHL promised the suitcase would be there and could be picked up by Friday, the 19th of October. I sent the suitcase on the 15th. It took me a whole day trying to get the phone number and the address of where the suitcase could be picked up. It was promised for Friday. People on the phone in Madrid were extremely rude, and refused to deliver any information about their Barcelona office, saying that they were not to answer any international phone calls. The people in France had no address for their Barcelona office. A dozen e-mails were exchanged, always automatic, please call the same number in Spain. Many times they hung in my face. Finally when my friends went to pick up their suitcase in Barcelona, DHL was closed during their office hours. When the Cruiser's concierge tried to have the suitcase delivered on the boat, after a three hour negotiation DHL flatly refused and hung up in their face. My friends were forced to go on the cruise without their suitcase. After paying 211€ for a failed service and extremely rude communication, I think I should be reimbursed.

I had DHL ship a painting to my home in India (I am a british expat). It was shipped in a very sturdy container. The painting cost me 700 USD , a price which is well documented. The DHL delivery person delivered the painting exposed, on a motorbike while it was raining heavily. It was ruined.
After a very long and stressful process of emails not being responded to and attempts to fob me off completely, they have admitted their failings and offered 100 USD compensation. This despite the fact that they deviated completely from their own standard practices and failed absolutely to deliver as per the standards they set themselves and promise to us as customers. This is, to anybody with even a faint grasp of ethics, is totally unacceptable.
Their response sadly shows how utterly irrelevant we are as customers to these huge faceless companies. If I was responsible for damaging a customers goods through woeful neglect and complete deviation from the quality of service I had promised to that customer, I would have the decency to pay them for the damage my actions had caused. Not so DHL.
The sad thing is that the stress of having your shipment destroyed through incompetence is small compared to the stress of trying to be compensated or even recognized by the company that did it. The response simply adds insult to Injury. This is an awful company to be done wrong by.

I never use DHL unless it is the only option, as with Dell - I really wish they would change providers. Besides the fact that DHL's customer service is lacking, such as an obvious absence of care, and a rude demeanor, their actual delivery people are ridiculously lazy. We have the same delivery driver at my apartment building for all DHL deliveries. That being the case, you would think he would understand the intercom system that is used to get to any of the apartments. Yet every time I have a DHL delivery, I look up the tracking number to see that the driver claimed that "Consignee premises closed. Will attempt again next business day." I was here, all day, just like every other time they claim I am not here. When calling customer service to explain, yet again, that I should not have to call to cause a stink every time I have a DHL delivery, I was informed that I should "put the driver on the spot and ask him why he cannot figure out how to deliver to me." Way to throw off any responsibility there.

I hate DHL too! My husband's company does a lot of shipping through DHL, and on more than one occasion he shipped materials/supplies to a close associate, who requested that the delivery person put the boxes inside the gate of a residence (gate is never locked), due their weight and to secure them. The delivery person has yet to even attempt to open the gate. Moreover, an over-night letter was to be delivered at the door and the they tossed it over the gate.
Now whenever I use a delivery company, I will pay more to have UPS or Federal Express to ship it.

The package was sent out on December 11. Was supposed to be delivered in 2-3 days. A week later, it still wasn't here. I got a call on a Saturday from DHL. They said they had a package for me with a incorrect addrress on it. Thinking the sender just made a mistake (as all people do!) I gave the DHL rep my correct address. She ASSURED me it would be delivered on Monday. Monday came, then Monday afternoon, then Monday evening...still not delivered. I went online to the DHL site and looked up the tracking number. It said the box was delivered on December 12 to the address 12030. My address was 12184. I called DHL to find out what the deal was. They told me to call back the next day since their computer system was down. Next day (Tues.) I check the website again. Still says the same thing! I call DHL again, they told me they had the right address (12184) and it would arrive that day! Tuesday eveng came and went, but the package never came! I called again! Again, this time, they told me the driver was unable to find the address. They ASSURED me (again) the package would DEFFINATELY arrive on Wednesday. It didn't! At 5:00 in the eve, I called them AGAIN, They told me they were still unable to locate my address! They also told me that I could go to their terminal (over 20 miles away!) to get it. Said it was waiting for me.
ANGRY and frusterared, I gave up and had to drive down there to get it.
As it turned out, the sender did put the correct address on the box. Someone at DHL misread the address and placed a DHL shipping label with the incorrect address over it so it was covered!
I've NEVER had problems with FedEx, UPS or the postal service!

I have received goods from abroad via DHL for the last year as unfortunately they are the preferred carrier for our suppliers. All barring one occasion DHL have sent an invoice which has been duly paid using their bank transmission slips that accompany each invoice. Problem is their own payment system takes weeks and weeks to clear through their maze of departments and each and every time I receive threatening letters from them, once I have had the credit line stopped and have been threatened with the same every other time. When you get hold of someone to complain they give the same apology and promise to investigate and nothing more is heard and they remove the credit block. They then tell you that it is better to use a debit card to pay the bills as their own forms take too long to clear. They are a joke but it is not so funny when they ruin your credit history through their sheer incompetence.
I got notice from an overseas company in China that my shipment left on Tuesday evening - and I received tracking
Then I tracked and tracked - to my utter shock and happiness, it was in American by Thursday evening! I was so excited!
I told my mother to stay at her home on Friday since it was being delivered there. And somehow, no on ever rang the doorbell or knocked loudly enough for someone to hear
So my husband called DHL and spoke with a rep - the rep said we could come pick up the package between 6 and 7 pm. HOWEVER, their hub is over an hour away and I don't get home from work until 6:40 pm. So we called again and spoke with a lady who said she could probably get it on a truck out that evening since their driver made the mistake. We would get a phone call from a manager called "Richard" within an hour.
An hour passes and no Richard calls. So once again, we call DHL - and we have to track Richard down. Low and behold - all the drivers have gone home. "so sorry - blah blah blah"
Then, he promises we are the FIRST delivery for Monday. I check the tracking all weekend and all morning today, Monday. I call my husband and tell him to contact DHL since there has been no update since the one from Friday saying "recipient not home". So he calls their customer service again. This time he spend 1.75 hours on the phone with some women who HALFWAY through, updates the website. Literally, right in front my eyes - while I'm at work I refresh the tracking page and one minute the latest news was:
18 Delivery attempted; recipient not home Houston, TX - USA 11:00
Then, three minutes later it says:
19 Awaiting collection by recipient as requested Houston, TX - USA 18:50
And then NOTHING else -
Today, they tell us that someone told them to hold my package instead of deliver it. WTF?!?! So at 2 pm we tell them to get it on a truck and deliver it now. Apparently that's out of the question... but why would the lady from Friday suggest putting it on a truck at 7pm on Friday, but it's out of the question at 2pm on Monday?
So now they tell me AGAIN, that we will be the first delivery tomorrow.
My main question is, why does it only take 2 days for a package to get from China to Houston, unharmed and no problem? And why does it take more than 2 days for a package to be delivered WITHIN Houston?
From now on, I will ALWAYS choose either UPS or FedEx - and the companies I buy from will offer those options
OR I'll just take my business elsewhere

Following parcel number [protected] a tv from dixons was to be delivered on 27th august. Took a day off work and constantly tracked their online service. At 4.30 to my shock it said delivery attempted but no-one was in and card left. This is not true as i was in all day and no card was left. Tried to get in touch with dhl customer service but as far as i know this is non-existent as no-one answered the call just kept playing boring music for over an hour and was then cut off. Got in touch with dixons who had a word with dhl and had it rebooked for the Friday. Rang dixons on friday afternoon to find out that this was not booked and logged by themselves. And was promised redelivery for Following Monday. Phoned Monday afternoon at dixons for them to say that the delivery guy from dhl left without taking the parcel an absolute joke, Now they do not know when they will redeliver. Would never use dixons or any company that use dhl for their delivery method. It seems from the thread that there are very similar complaints about false attempted delivery from dhl.

A package was being sent to me from Austin (about 4 hours away). We live in a very rural area, DHL delivers in this area only on Tues. and Thurs. (btw.. UPS delivers daily, except Sun.). On Tuesday, 8/7/07 the driver was given delivery instructions by our Post Master (she even offered to call me). Instead of waiting for her to call me, the driver said that was OK and left. Not attempting at all to deliver the package, he returned to San Antonio. On THURS I called and gave the "customer service" additional instructions... but had "missed the truck". I called to complain and was routed to a supervisor. They had the driver call and offer to meet me 40 miles away.. oh, and he said our Post Master did not give him directions... but that we are located outside of his route anyway!?

About 2:30 pm EST August 9, 2007, my wife heard our dogs barking outside and then one screamed. She ran outside to find a yellow DHL Truck and a driver with a "who me, what, I didn't do nothing" look on his face. She went to our little black and white Rat Terrier "Harley" who was howling in pain on the side of the drive. She ran inside to get keys and purse to drive her to the Vet's returning outside she found Harley was still and upon picking her up found blood on the other side. There was nothing to do now. We have talked to DHL Express who said "accidents happen every day". The DHL Truck and driver belong to another company, Jordanaire, I believe, but I still need to get the spelling. I received a voice mail apology from the contractors boss. DHL admitted that if their driver had hit our house and done property damage they would not be responsible.
I Googled "DHL Driver complaints" while waiting to talk to the Sub Contractor and found another dog killed complaint against DHL from May in Colorado. So I searched Driver complaints against FedEx and UPS who deliver to us all the time. None found.
DHL is not responsible to you while on your property and is sheltered all the while driving in yellow DHL trucks.
I know this is off the hitting an animal topic, but yesterday dhl was delivering a package to me... and drops it out of the truck in clear view of me... i was like, what the heck, luckily it wasn't anything breakable but seriously come on now... I've never once witness the fedex or ups guy drop something while bring it up to the house.
I know this is unfortunate, however no one ever mentioned where was the dog? was the dog in the road? Do you realize that if you allow your animal to run lose into the street and someone hits it, the driver is NOT responsible for the animal, HOWEVER the owner of the animal is responsible for the damage if any to the vehicle that hit it!
I also have 3 dogs that I consider part of my family but understand MY responsibility to keep them under control at all time.

I had the misfortune to have to deal with this crappy service. I had some transcripts overnighted to me and after two days the packaged never showed. I contacted the sender and got the tracking number. It turns out they tried to deliver but never left a signature card so how was I to know. I contacted DHL and they assured me it would be delivered on the third day, so I had someone waiting all day. DHL never made an attempt to deliver. The first lie. So, on Saturday they tell me it will be delivered before noon. The second lie. I made over six phone calls to DHL and not once would they allow me to talk to a supervisor. They shouldn't be allowed to do business.

actually, LD LOF means that your company has a standing letter on file that states that DHL can leave packages without obtaining a signature. These are not normally left outside but rather on a front counter. I would check to see who authorized such. You can ask DHL to provide you a copy of such document. It should be on file at the locat service center. If it is on file and you want it removed they can do that for you as well. As for speaking to the courier, you need to request to speak to the local service center if customer service is unable to get the service center to comply. They can not provide you with a direct #, however they can transfer you to the local service center office. If all else fails, request to speak to the agents manager.
