My rental apartment / consistent quiet enjoyment violation
My roommate and I moved into 950 Larrabee St, owned by DIICO, in August 2020. We were very forthcoming with the building manager at the time that we had major noise issues at our current apartments, and that one of us works under HIPAA and therefore required a unit that was relatively quiet with reasonably few noise disturbances. We were guaranteed by the manager at the time, Alan Broidy, that the insulation was strong and the upstairs neighbors were quiet. Two months into our lease we were being woken up every other night by unreasonably loud noise. We submitted a very specific list with time stamps and recordings of the unreasonably loud noises we were hearing. We were at first told by management that they didn't even know who was the unit above us, and that we had to take matters into our own hands. We left notes on two units we thought were directly above us, and we maintained contact with the unit we realized was directly above us. They became uncooperative and continued to disturb our legal right to reasonable quiet enjoyment. Our health became affected as we were woken up around 5:45am every morning and then disturbed by extremely loud noises throughout the day until around 9 or 10pm. Eventually management stopped responding to our phone calls, texts, and emails. We specifically asked four months into our lease to be let out early because our quiet enjoyment had been so violated so frequently, and we were not sleeping. Management, led by the building manager Alan Broidy, a disbarred attorney with a criminal record withheld from us, began to intimidate, harass, and threaten us into silence. We sought legal advice and asked once again to be released from the lease, and we even offered to pay more than 1 month's extra rent because management and landlords were being so aggressive and unreasonable. Upon offering over $3k to be let out early, we were once again threatened and told that they were randomly withdrawing their offer to let us out of the lease. We continue to struggle with 2 months left on our lease and have made several police reports after 10pm quiet hours and multiple emails, texts, and calls to the new building manager, DIICO management, and DIICO's own lawyer. They are the worst management company with whom we have ever worked/lived and we simply have wanted to live in reasonable quiet.
Desired outcome: Being let out of our lease with only 2 months left, or receiving monetary remuneration for the months of sleepless nights, negative health outcomes, and distress management has caused us.

[edited] not only discriminate their tenants including the disabled seniors but also attack & discriminate pets. These buildings are pet friendly and half of the tenants have cats or dogs. First they put up the gates (without discussing with tenants) to block the dogs from going to the buildings lawns. [edited] said to me that there will be a little opening for dogs, being a pathological liar [edited] that didn't happen. Now bully dromys have signs up on the front lawns not only discriminate neighbors dogs but also dogs that live in the buildings. I'm sorry any one who doesn't like animals and attack/discriminate against animals is EVIL! EVIL SLUMLORD! PETA please get involved!
I, Thu Hoang, was a resident of this property. These statements are in error, should not be posted, and I have requested they immediately be removed. I have no problem with Dromy International investment, 505, or any of their affiliated business entities.
