Great when it works
Mostly my dog loves to watch this but I get tired of having to reset because of the app freezing up. Today it's unusable because after I keep resetting it, it plays the same two minutes of video and freezes again. Can't leave it on at home for the dogs either because it does the same on the Apple TV. So I always come home to a frozen screen that has been stuck for who knows how long and then I have to worry about burn in on my new OLED TV. I recommend this app to a lot of people and now they tell me they have the same issue. Also, they play too much stuff my dog gets bored with like light shows. They want to see animals, not kaleidoscopes. Will be canceling my subscription when it expires.
Making it impossible to continue
I love DOGTV however I’m extremely frustrated I got an email saying to upgrade to annual billing and go from $9.99 a month to $59.99 annually so I clicked the box then there is no way to switch that on the Amazon site so I call Amazon customer service the guy says there’s not even any way he can do it so he say he’ll cancel my DOGTV subscription and then I can reapply and choose annual so I say great but then I go to the DOGTV app and there’s no way to do that either it says go to Amazon and do it so I’m about at my wits end my dogs like the channel but you guys need to figure your crap out and call me with a solution or your going to lose a good customer and advocate for your product
Very annoyed,
James
Buyer beware! Terrible customer service and possible scam
Last year I bought a year subscription from their Black Friday special through the DogTV site. Here is their scam. After ordering I immediately canceled to not get further charges. That prevented me from watching even though the year was already paid for. Contacted support who re-activated my account and also re-activated auto renewal against my explicit email message. Fast forward a year to find a $80 charge from Vinmo pending. I immediately cancel my subscription and contact support to refund my money. Day goes by, send another message. Next day a email direct to their support. Nothing. I had to call my credit card company to dispute this charge. Tv for dogs is a cute idea, but stay away from this group.
If no stars were an option
I honestly don’t want to give 1 star bc I can’t say anything about the product itself as I only got so far as entering payment information and then suddenly my session expired. After trying (unsuccessfully) to log back in MULTIPLE TIMES, I decided to double check my account just to make sure no money was taken out... the session may have expired but not before they ran a hold and credit on the account. Now I can’t even log on to cancel and putting a stop pay on it will cost me much more than this was ever supposed to. This means, I’m paying for a service I cannot access nor use no matter what bc after the trial period runs out they’ll charge me if I don’t stop pay.
What a terrible first impression to make!
Horrible Customer Service/ Steals Money
I have never heard of this app before until T-Mobile offered a free 3 month subscription. The instructions were to download it and choose the free 3 month trial. I downloaded it but there was only an option for a free week trial. So I set up the free week trial up yesterday and contacted them in regards about the free trial that was being offered by T-Mobile for more info. Haven’t heard from them on that yet. Then I cancelled the subscription so I wouldn’t forget and get charged. Then this morning I got an email receipt stating I got charged for the first month! Checked my bank account and sure enough, they already had charged me! Had to send another email for a refund but I’m sure they aren’t going to respond to that either.
I will probably not use this app ever again
Hey so I will not use this app again because this should be free this is for our dogs you know how many dogs are suffering out there right now soap water dogs dogs are amazing but you know how many can suffer with out dog TV so I really think it should be free no subscription no in app purchases I think there should be like an in app purchase for one thing no ads because a person and a dog can live with ads some people that got this we’re really excited but then they realize there was a subscription like I did and turns out they don’t have any money because they used it to buy other things like dog food bands money food for themselves dog toys other things that are more important than an app for the dogs I’m not saying this is a bad app it needs to be free so When it is free I will use it
My dog loves it! Scientifically supported
I don’t understand why people are rating this poorly because of the cost or issues they had with an offer from T Mobile Tuesdays. I used the 3 month promotional offer, too, and didn’t have issues; I also made sure to go through Apple/iTunes and not the company directly, as I do with most of my personal subscriptions for clarity of billing cycles even though you might pay more with taxes. You have to be careful when you sign up, go slow and read, then there should be no issues, otherwise I could see how you might easily do the 7 day trial instead by mistake (just don’t rush).
The program itself is phenomenal. I think it’s wonderful they did research as to the coloring, the sounds, and even the movement. I like that it avoids sudden startling noises. But more importantly, my dog is GLUED to the TV! If it’s pup approved, it’s an easy 5 stars from me. :)
Doesn’t work for my dog
I’m sure they put a lot of time and effort in to the program, but after following all of there directions and having it for a while I find it doesn’t do anything for my dog. While that in itself is not a reason for a low rating, I find it near impossible to cancel my subscription. My credit card is billed by DOGTV monthly yet when I try to cancel they keep directing me to Apple Pay or amazon and I don’t have an active subscription with either company. ♂️. Don’t sign up because it is EXTREMELY difficult to cancel once you do.
Edit: after cancelling my monthly subscription, they continued to charge my card under a different name. Up until November all charges were under DOGTV.CLEENG. After cancellation it came in as OTT.VIMEO for November and then December was OTT*DOGTV. Lucky for me I kept the cancel email and was able to successfully charge back the charges.
I HATE IT
Don’t even bother buying it because it either times out crashes or you have to pay for it so let’s start with the time outs please disable the timer I would be working from home and turn dog TV on but after 2-3 hours it turns off and my dog starts whining and I have to stop my zoom to turn it back on next is the crashing I also have it on my phone and iPad when we go on road trips the app crashes CONSTANTLY and it is so annoying please fix this and lastly is YOU FREAKING HAVE TO PAY FOR THE APP to watch live tv which my dog LOVES you have to pay and that’s just really annoying because I just want to play live tv because it’s my dog favorite but I CANT DO THAT WITHOUT PAYING and some kids might want to use this app but they have to pay and that’s just inconvenient over all I think paying is the worst problem please make it 100% free if you change these problems thank you so much bless your soul
Saves My Dogs from Boredom
Besides a login issue on Apple TV only, the rest of the apps I’ve used on web and iOS have been great. [Update: The new versions just released in September are much slicker, with web-based TV device activation akin to YouTube, etc. No more false password issues!]
People can say what they will about whether it works or not, but I see a clear difference in my dogs’ indoor behavior when the DOGTV is on. The live stream is generally great for keeping their attention while they’re lying in their beds, but I love the ability to tune to channels specifically for stimulation or relaxation.
One improvement I’d like to see (or maybe easier access to, if I just haven’t found it) is live streams for the specific purposes like relaxation. I try not to ever leave for more than a few hours at a time, but sometimes it will happen; when the video ends, the app returns to the menu instead of auto-playing the next one.
Thanks!
It works.while it’s playing
I subscribed to DogTV to help my pup sleep in the living room at night or occupy him while i work from home. I use their app on Roku and it has helped tremendously with getting him. He loves it. The problem however is it appears the DogTV app on Roku has times out after a couple of hours, causing my pup to whine in the middle of the night. I don’t know if it’s done on purpose or if there’s a glitch with Roku or the DogTV app, but for now I’ll assume the latter because I know many apps time-out after no activity. This is a problem for me. DogTV is supposed to calm or keep pets occupied when we’re away or sleeping, why would you make an automatic timer, and one so sort? I think the timer, if there is one, needs to be disabled. Otherwise i will most likely cancel the subscription when it’s time to start working in the office again. Don’t see the logic of buying a service if it times out 2-3 hours after I leave home. If Roku’s the reason the app is closing I will revise my review to 5 stars.
Separation Anxiety Relief
We really wanted to believe this was a gimmick but we cannot deny that it helps our Daisy! Our 11 year old dog has suffered from separation anxiety since we got her at 3 months old. Shoes, pillows, remotes, basically anything we left out would be chewed up when we got home. We had learned not to leave anything out we didn’t want destroyed. Recently she started drinking water excessively while we were gone which led to her being unable to control her bladder. We almost hated to leave home in the evenings because of the mess we would come home to. After using DOGTV for a few months we can say without a doubt it has soothed her separation anxiety. She has only had one accident since we started leaving the DOGTV on for her. She doesn’t really “watch” but the sounds are soothing to her. If we had any question at all, on NYE the sound of fireworks got her pretty upset and within 2 minutes of turning on the DOGTV she settled down. If your dog has separation anxiety related issues we highly recommend DOGTV!
Bait & Switch
We are longtime users. It used to be great. Not anymore...
After the most recent update the app no longer works on my Apple TV. My subscription is up to date. However the app wants me to restore my current subscription and then It gives me an ITunes connection error.
After an hour on the phone with Apple support they referred me to DOGTV support.
Here is the reply I got:
There seems to be a connectivity issue with our Apple subscriptions on the DOGTV App and we are currently working to resolve this. In the meantime, it may be best to cancel your DOGTV Apple subscription and subscribe through Dogtv
They gave me instructions to cancel my ITunes subscription and subscribe directly from them. But this costs TWO dollars more a month then my current Apple subscription.
This appears to be BAiT & SWITCH.
I am very disappointed in how both Apple and DOGTV have been unable to get this resolved. I am stuck with Apple but will no longer do business with DOGTV.
So now my dogs are enjoying watching birds and squirrels on YouTube. Very entertaining and no subscription or billing hassles.
Simple App to Soothe Dogs While Gone
This app does exactly what it says - it allows you to stream DogTV on your iPad, as long as you have an internet connection.
Other reviewers might be missing the point of the app - there is no need for other "channels" or "functions", or for anything other than a live feed - the content is for your dog, not you. A dog doesn't care if they are watching a particular show. Whatever is on, as long as it caters to their vision and interest, it will do - and the DogTV content is great for dogs.
My puppy watches while I'm away, and I've put it on while at home to see how much she does watch - and I have to say, it really does keep her attention.
Airplay works great to my Apple TV, just turn it on from the iOS7 control panel. If you're not able to do this, you might want to look up how... Because it works GREAT.
The soft music is calming, the images vary between interesting and instructive (for dogs), and it seems like an effective way to expose her to stimulus in a controlled manner.
Simple, easy to use, effective app. It does require a subscription to DogTV.com, so make sure you have that before downloading.
This is a MUST HAVE!
My puppy struggled with separation anxiety terribly until having stumbled upon this app. Surprisingly, there’s really not a lot of apps for dogs at all in the 21st century. SO, figured I’d give this a go. After just a few days of leaving this on when I leave for work, my pup has very little, if NO separation anxiety at all anymore. Maybe it’s just my dog and I got lucky? I don’t think so. My friends started using it too and have seen wonderful benefits. Whenever I sneak a few peeks in on my home security cameras, I catch him watching it as well! He relaxes, sometimes prances, and better yet, he plays around with his toys way more than he did before I got the app. He will nap for a couple hours all while this is on. I feel so much better leaving him home now when i go to work or run some errands. AND, no more whimpering! I was so worried about this living in an apartment complex. Behavior outside the app has even improved. He’s getting used to the sounds that are played on the programming and walks have even gotten better. I don’t know why anyone wouldn’t want this for their dog. I wish this had been around sooner. Thanks so much to everyone at DOGTV!
Horrible app and customer service
If I could give zero stars I would. The app is horrible and crashes constantly or times out and turns off. Yes, I have checked the settings in my TV and that’s not what the problem is. It is definitely the app. As soon as I signed up for the one year subscription and immediately had the problems, I reached out to customer service via email and no one responded for weeks. Their response was that it had been too long since I had had the service and they refused to give me my money back for the year subscription. I wrote back complaining about the obvious technical issues that others I discovered had been having with the app and that I felt duped and scammed. Several weeks later they sent me an email with some recommended fixes, which I tried but they also failed and the app continued to freeze constantly or turn off. Then I went on their own website and discovered that they themselves say they are not compatible with smart TVs, although you can try to use it with a smart TV, they don’t recommend it. What age are we living in? This app is on my TV, and is made for having on the TV screen for the dogs. Where else are we supposed to put the app so that it is helpful for our pets? I’m confused about how they are getting away with charging people at all when their app is not even recommended for smart TVs? Do you research, read reviews and make your own decision. But unfortunately if you go online where they cannot control the reviews, you will see that many people have nothing but problems with the app crashing and with the lack of customer support And the refusal of them to refund peoples money when the app does not work.
New Updates = Missing Content and Other Probs
My service dog is crazy about DogTV, but the new app updates to iOS and Roku are messed up and ruin the experience for us both.
— All the Relaxation OTG videos are now about an hour instead of FOUR hours (stimulation OTG is still four hours). One of the relaxation videos #4 is gone and has now been replaced by a sample (stimulation has all four videos from before the updates).
— I also have auto continue playback on yet only one video plays, even on my playlist.
— I don’t understand why it takes two unnecessary clicks for the live TV and any other videos to play when they are not new to me. I don’t need to see the descriptions every time.
— I don’t know why the live content stops playing after four hours on my Roku. Never tried on iOS. There needs to be a setting to bypass this if I want my videos to play for an unlimited amount of time. There should be a setting where users get to choose the number of playback hours too.
— I would love to be able to shuffle videos in my playlist to mix things up for my dog.
— All the videos are not listed in chronological order in each category as one would expect.
— I wish I could decide what shows up on my home screen. Some people have no interest in DogStar or the other shows meant for people while other enjoy it — give us a choice to set up the home page the way we prefer.
On the plus side, there is now a fifth bedtime video. I am hoping to see more content.
For a paid subscription, this update is really disappointing, and I hope the issues will be fixed quickly as they appear to be cross platform. I was hoping to see an update soon after the new release that would iron out the issues — please do it soon.
I would also like to see free subscriptions offered for service dogs. I know you have to make money, but please pay it forward for these dogs that work tirelessly day and night to keep disabled/ill handlers safe and independent. I use DogTV most when I’m not feeling well and need to be in bed for long hours. It’s very difficult for people who are sick and can’t go out during the pandemic because your content fills a void and provides needed stimulation to our dogs. Many of us are on fixed incomes or have no incomes and depend on others. It also costs far more to have a service dog as compared with a pet. Please consider the possibility and help provide something very important for these special dogs. @MashaT22 (Twitter)
Dog TV
I have to say I look around for a lot of different videos, audio, music, sounds etc etc for all of our dogs since our pride and joy The Beautiful Gurlee gave birth to her well should say (My) LOL! babies and now all 9 1yr and 3 month (15 month) old and yes they are all still her babies even though all 9 boys and girls included have been bigger than her since they were about 5 months old but I have always just went to you tube and looked up music/videos to put puppies asleep, to calm/relax mom and puppy with sounds etc etc. and they have loved it but all have been just relax and sleep really and that’s great for sometimes but other times you want more for them and not to just sleep all day long so when I found (DOG TV) I was excited since I read it on the play store and it has not let me or them down not one bit, and love how it has some for me and dad and some for the
fur kiddos, and every video is labeled which is for who, How to start your dogs new found love, energy, joy, happiness, stress free, safe lives with us home or not with (DOG TV) and know they and there room of course will be better than (just fine) until we get back, Now we are not hoping and praying they will be happy and content until we get back but now with (DOG TV) were not away from home worrying about them and stressing ourselves out, and not being focused on the task and/or adventure we left the house in the first place for so were cheating ourselves and each other out of so many carefree & special memories that we’ve made for past 12 yrs and cherish so much, The whole process of planning a romantic surprise date, or our once a week since forever now (every Friday evening) date and movie night just for (US) but it’s been since before the puppies were born just worrying about our pregnant baby gurl (Our Gurlee Gurl) we just stopped doing it all and then having her then 9 newborns and now still 5 total with Mommy Gurlee included we just couldn’t we felt like, maybe run up to the grocery store only if we had a few things to get but that also started being me or him so we lost (US) in so many words, I’m so glad the love never got lost in everything so that is very much so still there and more and more everyday as always but now that we have (DOG TV) we both get that fun quality time just the two of us as an engaged couple and not regret leaving, feeling guilty or sad/bad because they just (might) be bored, anxious, stressed of always having at least one of us then not anyone for any amount of time at all. So myself (Brenda) & fiancé (Ty) are very grateful and appreciate everyone who thought of (DOG TV), produced/created it as such an easy to download and convenient android/iOS app or login through your internet browser no matter where you are or when it is 24/7 and it’s for everyone not only adult owners but kids, grandparents etc. I have told everyone already I even went on and made an account for my mother with info so all she has to do is login wherever and boom there it is for her and her grandpuppies and YES it is that easy. So In short form/ in other words (DOWNLOAD ASAP YOU WILL LOVE IT AND YOU WILL DEFINITELY BE EXCITED EVERY SINGLE DAY TO SEE THEM HAPPY ALL DAY EVERYDAY BUT IT’S EDUCATIONAL/ INFORMATIVE FOR YOU AT THE SAME TIME CAN’T BEAT IT.
”And that’s what you call having fun while educating yourself on a topic that you already love unconditionally and make sure you give them the best life ever YES (YOUR FUR BABY/ KING /QUEEN/ BEST-FRIEND) so it won’t feel like school or studying ever LOL..”. It’s a win win for all
Thanks Again & Everyone Have A Great Rest Of Your Day...
sorry so long but I just had too wouldn’t feel right if not and this is my 1st review ever on an app

Price
I wanted to do the free trial for my dog with a broken leg for relaxation but when I saw the price for the free trial... no way my parents won’t let me. I recommend the free trial FREE NOT 10 DOLLARS.

How do I cancel?
This app should have a page to manage your payments, because it is impossible for me to cancel my subscription. I have tried the log in your website and it doesn’t even let me log in to cancel my subscription.

SCAM
Be very careful. DOGTV goes into a UI error loop (not allowing you to sign in unless you pay or restore your iTunes purchase, then giving you an error) and then charges you anyway. They are refusing to return my money. Buyer beware.

Wanted to like it
I wanted to like it but couldn’t get it to work. I purchased the subscription in my iPhone but then could not sign in on my Apple TV. I sent messages to Dog TV support for help and never got any response. So, I gave up and cancelled.

Both dogs ignore it
What is left to say, other than I am periodically prompted to subscribe when I already have a subscription. I now have to check to see whether I have been charged twice for this subscription. Hopefully you have better luck than I did.

Ughhh
Used to work great! Now it’s like my iTunes acct & this app won’t connect. I try to restore - error. I try to log in? Doesn’t recognize it. I try to change my password...go around in circles. Meanwhile, I’m still being charged. Annoying af

Terrible and you can’t cancel
You CANNOT cancel this. I have been trying and it is literally impossible. I tried logging in to their website to cancel my subscription, but it says my email / account does not exist, yet they still charge me every month. DO NOT DOWNLOAD.

App refuses to let me watch on any platform
It didn’t have any problem taking my first payment but now it asks me to login, I click restore from iTunes, it says it can’t find the account, I click buy for $9.99, then it gives me an error that I already have this subscription. Great, so why the hell cant I watch anything?

Great App for our furry friends.when it works
After about a year continue to run into the most basic log in issues where the app for whatever reason logs me out and is unable to recover my purchase.
Please don’t ask me to do homework and contact your support; y’all know the issue, it’s plastered all over the reviews.
Please do respond when the issue is fixed and I will renew my subscription which I just cancelled.
The complaint has been investigated and resolved to the customer’s satisfaction.
Misleading
When you go to the apps webpage, not on your AppStore app, it claims you get the first MONTH free and additional months are $7.99. When you try to sign up it then tells you that it’s 14 days free and $9.99 a month.
I work from home, was hoping to try this out to keep our puppy occupied while I’m on calls but now I’m turned off from using them. I’ll just find videos on YouTube. She loves watching Caesar which is free on our other apps.

Does not work
I just downloaded that app, signed up for the free trial and it does not work on my AppleTV. Extremely frustrating because it shows that I am subscribed, but every time I try to use the app, it asks me to buy the monthly membership (which says I already have a current subscription) or restore subscription (which fails every time). Yes, I have restarted my AppleTV, deleted and reinstalled the app and nothing works. I’m beyond annoyed and irritated! Do not waste your time.

Terrible Customer Service & Website
I’ve had issues with redeeming a gift card and the rep was not helpful at all. The website is buggy and then redirects to another company that processes payment and video for them. Still have not recurved a helpful response and the links shown do not work, esp with gift cards. Do not purchase a gift card for anyone. So far the video content is ok but a lot of it is repeated clips over and over. I am getting better treatment for our pups with nature channels for free online.

Used to love this
This app used to work for me but I had to delete it because every time I opened it on my Apple TV it said I needed to subscribe even though I was already subscribed and logged in. Tried deleting the app and downloading it again and nothing worked. Needless to say I had to get it through direct tv and that’s the only way I can put it on for my dog to watch. Please fix this issue because I do love the app if I could use it. I contacted dog tv directly and they said it was the app developer issue.
The complaint has been investigated and resolved to the customer’s satisfaction.
Doesn’t work
When I heard about this app I downloaded it immediately because I thought it would be awesome. I wanted to give the trial a run but it won’t even work. The videos crash or never load and there are hardly any videos to choose from. I don’t know what the full version is like but I certainly won’t be paying for it considering the app doesn’t even work. This is disappointing as I was really looking forward to using it with my dog. Also, I’m sorry but $9.99 a month seems like of high. I was hoping more for like $5.99.
