I wish I would have seen this website Before purchasing my I thought were Savannag cats from Taran Nolan at Domestic wildcat. For the amount I paid $1, 900 a cat I could have purchased a real Savannah cat. The cats I purchase from her had tons of health issues and one cat had to be returned and replaced with another cat she offered which also had Heath issues ! And my replace cat a boy, he is extremely small. Taran Nolan said our cats would grow to 25 pounds ! Our cats are not even half that! I could understand paying maybe 500 a piece for these questionable cats but she completely ripped us off.
There are complaints abt this person and her husband on the following website as well: http://www.savannahcatchat.com/threads/domestic-wildcats-.
I have owned F1 and F2 Savannah Cats for about 10 years. I have had all my cats genetically tested at UC Davis to ensure their lineage. I purchased a beautiful melanistic ALC cub from Taran Nolan and found the entire experience of working with her and her cattery to be very pleasant and professional. This post is disturbing for the following reasons: claims a “fake” cat was sold, claims for $1, 900 a “real” Savannah cat could have been purchased, the cat’s health issues were not identified to be genetic or due to lack of care by new owner, insinuates Savannah cats are not “small”, placed a dollar amount on a pet. For these reasons I highly recommend any reader completely disregard this complaint.
We bought our Snow White kitten from Taran Domestic Wildcats they been great we got the Snow White kitten to give our Bengal a friend and now we are buying a Second Kitten from Taran they just been great are kitten had a cold they told us to take her to the vet and told us to let them Reimburse us we told them we didn’t want them to reimburse us but they asked how much it cost we told them 110 dollars they sent us a PayPal for 200 dollars they didn’t have to do that. I purchased a supposed Savannah cat from Taran Nolan in 2017. Taran state’s the kitten would grow to be 20-25 pounds and would be full grown by three years. Well, she’s three in April and is small as can be, very short legs and much smaller than my Siamese and bengal.
On top of that, our kitten was sick very shortly after purchasing her. She was diagnosed with Giardia and spread it to our other days which ended up costing us additional unexpected money.
Taran would only meet in a public parking lot, most catteries allow onsite visits. Red flag. Do not purchase from Taran Nolan.
Ok here’s the deal. These cats are amazing but not pure F2 bread Savannah cats. I have a 4 year old boy who’s looks are only matched by his outgoing personality. However they aren’t pure bread F2 or F2.5 Savannahs as she told me. They have other wild bloodlines mixed into their breed. I am sure my cat is part lynx. However this breeder makes the most unique looking cats I have ever seen. My boy looks way cooler than a typical F2 Savannah and is smart as a whip. Every single person that sees my cat is obsessed with his polydactyl feet, insane coloring, and outgoing personality. I think she needs to rebrand her cats as a unique hybrid cause these aren’t normal Savannah cats. In my opinion they are better and more rare. However if you want a pure bread Savannah with just serval and bengal mixed into the breed this isn’t that. This has something extra
I adopted a hybrid savannah cat from them as well. I used to call him Banana Cat (lol) because I knew he is not a papered savannah cat, though I did pay the amount of a registered F3 Savannah cat for a mutt.
I wasn’t even sure if he really had “serval” blood in him. I still love him and he is AMAZING whatsoever. My lil expensive mutty boy who doesnt even look like savannah 💕 However, I had DNA test on him and amazingly he had savannah blood as well!
He is very smart and loving. He is my life, and I am so blessed to have him in my life.
Just make sure to know Taran is not a registered breeder and none of her kittens are considered as pure, yet they are all lovely!
Here I am again. I still love seeing their kittens and their unique appearance; however, it’s sad to say - I can’t encourage adopting from them.
Main reason is too many kittens are born all year long in such small property. Not saying she lives in apartment as you can see they have pool and catio + no one gets a chance to visit their home. However, I don’t see acre houses in the city.
If you check with registered/ethical breeders, you don’t see available kittens all year long. Sadly this is like kitten mills. Of course, I can’t assume 100% but not common to see with ethical breeders.
I still love them and their kittens but I won’t adopt from them anymore.
We have bought our f3 hybrid from Taran and Jimmy May of 2020. Our hybrid turns a year old on Tues. She has had no health problems. Jimmy and Taran were very thorough on feeding instructions, not allowing her to get overheated, what to do if she doesn't eat, what to feed her. They were great. We would buy from them again. They are going through a awful family tragedy. Please keep them in your prayers.
Our healthy F3 hybrid from Taran and Jimmy
I bought an F2 Savannah/jungle cat mix from the Nolan’s in 2018. The cat has been amazing in every way. The Nolan’s are good, caring people and do not deserve to have their name denigrated online by the malcontent that posted about their cat having health issues or not growing to be as large as Tar/Jimmy said it would it be. They were always upfront about my cat not being a pure blooded Savannah. For people to say that the Nolan’s are trying to dupe people is just plan wrong.
I purchased a melanistic Savannah/Linx hybrid from Taran. Bagherra was a beautiful loving little boy, obviously very loved and handled before I got him. He was not scared after having been in a crate on a plane next to a huge Makaw for several hours! At 4 months he started showing signs of being sick, UC Davis drs said it was a rare disease contracted from nursing and there is NO way to test for the disease, only rule out other things and conclude what he had. It traveled very fast so nothing could be done and I had to let him pass over the rainbow bridge . I called Taran to tell her about it, we traced it to a wet nurse cat they brought in because the biomom didn’t want to nurse. UC Davis dr even confirmed there was no way for the Breeder to know. Taran was very upset on the phone. Taran’s husband called me immediately after I spoke to Taran …. They were both very upset, as a parent would be about their own child. 2 weeks later they followed up with me to check on me and again profess their sadness over the loss and said when I was ready I could pick any cat I wanted. I didn’t think I could do it but got on their site, and immediately fell in love with picked Picasso (that was his name they used ) He is a polydactyl Savannah/jungle/domestic hybrid….. he is gorgeous and such a stud! He is F3 by breed but his wild blood count shows higher wild cat than an F3…. They were very honest with me about him, told me he would be a little bigger than a normal cat, 20 lbs maybe. He is very healthy, weighs in at 27 pounds, tall and 2 times the size of a regular size cat. He, has only been to the vet for routine care/shots and one illness that was self inflicted, Charlie and Ms Kitty apparently love Ant spray! (I now only use vinegar!). Taran’s youngest had just been born when I got Charlie and she and I would exchange pictures of our “babies” . She was so excited to get pictures of Charlie! I absolutely love this breeder/family and my King Charles aka Charlie Manson (because he LOVES to hunt and leave me my share on my patio! His Chatter is sooo loud and his growl is pure wild jungle cat ). I am obsessed with his polydactyl paws, they are huge next to my hand (see pics below) I would DEFINITELY buy from them again. Unfortunately, Charlie is a spoiled brat and only loves his adopted mom, Ms. kitty, a bengal mix, and will NOT let kittens or dogs in our home! (He attacked my 110 lb German Shepard ! My heartfelt Prayers continue to the family for their tragic loss of their sweet baby girl. I hope the family has been reunited in California and are continuing to heal after their accident. Much love to you Taran and family! I hope Taran sees these pics and ignores the negative nancies.
