Dorrence found me by a manuscript that I sent in to be copyrighted. After they viewed my manuscript I was contacted by mail. They stated that they would like to publish my book. I was very excited immediately I sign on the dotted line. And sent in 500.00 dollars to get my book started.
They put me on a payment plan. They sent me the style of my book and the way it was going to look, and the needed my signature for my approval. And I signed it. Immediately after my first deposit I become unemployed and could not continue to make te payments I tried to contact some body in the finance department and let them know my situation. but every time I called I was giving to their voice mail.
I left several messages but never got a called back a few months later I received a letter stating that I owed a total of 7, ooo dollars. And that they were going to put my book on hold until a payment was made I felt that I was treated very unfairly considering that this is my first book that I dedicated to the devastating time of my life and I really wanted it to be heard it is about a women who fought long and hard for her children in the judicial system.
The complaint has been investigated and resolved to the customer’s satisfaction.
Dorrance Publishing accepted my manuscript, then at their first call they sent me a contract to pay $5, 000. upfront. I said goodbye, blocked them and added their emails to my SPAM folder. Run from them.
To date, today is July 10, 2020.
I have been told that my book has not may any sales. However, when asked for a report of book sales from Amazon - my request has been IGNORED.
Had I known, I could have uploaded my BOOK ON AMAZON MYSelf, and reap the 75 percent royalties with NO SPLITS WITH DORRANCE. Would like to see the historical SALES REPORT.

Dear Ms. Rodriguez,
If you wish to request early termination of the agreement, a letter to that effect can be sent to the following address:
Dorrance Publishing
Attn: Accounting
585 Alpha Dr, Ste 103
Pittsburgh PA 15238
Based on the information mentioned in your email below, I would also like to point out a few details. Please know that termination of the contract would mean that Dorrance is totally out of the picture, not selling or distributing the book in any way, including fulfilling orders to you. Also, it would be possible for you to simply take over the Amazon account. Dorrance would stop fulfilling orders to Amazon, but we cannot do anything to set up an account for you. You would need to make your own arrangements for selling through Amazon and set up your own seller's account. If you are producing the book elsewhere, you would need a new ISBN.

I would like to take over my Amazon Account and relinquish you guys. IT'S FREE TO EVERYONE and the royalties would not have to be shared with you guys.
Especially knowing that is the ONLY VENUE OF SELLING AUTHOR'S BOOK ASIDE FROM YOUR WEBSITE.

(DID YOU ALL GET THAT ..."You would need to make your own arrangements for selling through Amazon and set up your own seller's account. If you are producing the book elsewhere, you would need a new ISBN."
This is an IMPORTANT POINT, SO IN THE EVENT WHEN MY CONTRACT HAS MET IT'S OBLIGATION, would they when I go with Amazon on my own - would I need to get a NEW ISBN and get this I would not be PROVIDED WITH MY BOOKS?
Gee wouldn't it be nice if they would DISCLOSE THIS PRIOR TO ENTERING INTO CONTRACT WITH THEM.
My advise - PUBLISH YOUR OWN BOOK TO AVOID THIS WHAT SEEMS TO BE OFF THE CUFF BAD BUSINESS LIAISON.
To date Michael Knapp have PROVIDED ME A HISTORICAL SALES REPORT FROM AMAZON. I did not get one in Jan. 2019 (I don't care if it shows ZERO) - I am ENTITLE TO HAVE THIS REPORT. Michael interjected that they are only obligated to give it to me in Jan and JUly. I did not receive one in Jan 2019, and would conjecture that I would not see one in July 2020.
I SUSPECT FUNNY BUSINESS.
Anything that asks you to pay $$$$ up front is a SCAM period. You should sue them to recoup the $7, 000 you paid them and more for damages and libel.
A legitimate publisher would not ask you for any money. period.
