My husband and I had seen Eagle Shield on the Sacramento & Co. show back in February. Since we saw it on the show we assumed it was a legit product. They said that they could do an energy audit that would help determine if you would benefit from their product and save hundreds of dollars on your utility bills. Since my husband had not been working since November 2009, we thought that lowering our monthly utility bills would help ease a little of the stress that we were undergoing financially. We decided to call and they sent an Energy Consultant to come on February 5th, 2010. The actual presentation of the product is what sold us on the product. The Energy Consultants selling tactics were a bit annoying and desperate. But because of the product demo we were convinced that it would definitely help us out. The Energy Consultant said that he would be able to give us a discount if we signed the contract right then and there. But if he had to come back there would be no discount since he had to waste more time and gas to come out to our home. Being that we were tight on money we wanted to take advantage of any discount that we could get. He also said that we would qualify for a BIG rebate from PG & E and also 2009 Tax Credit. He also said that he would come back to our house during the hottest time in the summer because there was no better satisfaction for him to come into a customer’s home and be greeted by the VERY COOL air as he walks in from the heat. As of today he has not come back to see how supposedly good the product is working. He scheduled us for February 20, 2010 to have the Radiant Barrier installed. The installation was alright. One of the three installers that had us sign that their job was complete was over 30 minutes late and then had to audacity to tell me to only give them a good rating for their “job well done.” We were also told that they were going to put some of the radiant barrier on the water heater to help us save some more money. But of course the late worker said that the insulation that we had on our water heater was of the same quality as the radiant barrier. I don't know if he said that because he was just being lazy and didn't want to do it or he was being honest about their so called excellent product. The Energy Consultant also gave us some good advice as to what to do to help keep our house cool during the summer. One advice that he gave us was to open up our doors and windows early in the morning to get that cool breeze in the house and as soon as the temperature was starting to go up to close everything up so that house would stay cool because the Radiant Barrier would keep the cool air in. I did do that every day and also at night when it was nice and cold outside I would open everything up and I would get my house to 71-73 degrees in my house. I would notice that within 5-10 minutes of closing the windows and doors that the temperature would start to go up. That is exactly the opposite of what is supposed to happen if their product was working as they had stated it would. On February 22nd, I went online to fill out the rebate form for PG & E but came upon some questions that I was unsure as to how to answer them. I called Mike Stone, the Energy Consultant that sold us on the radiant barrier, to get the R Values for pre and post and he asked me to call him back on February 25th at 9 am so that he could fax the R values to me. So of course on 2/25/10 at 9am I called him and then he asked me to remind him who I was and then he said "Oh yes, actually you don't qualify for the PG & E rebates because your R values are R-11 pre and R-30 post." I was too upset and disgusted with him to say anything. I figured that at least I would be saving on my utility bills. I did not see an improvement in our utility bills but thought, “Well maybe I would really see the difference in the hot summer days.” Well, summer is over and if anything we have been paying more on our utilities. I have since gone online and have seen how others have complained about it all being a scam. I plan on contacting the manager/owner of Eagle Shield to demand a full refund and if it is not resolved I plan on seeking legal advice.

It is a great product. Keeps the house cooler and you do not get that surge of heat in the middle of the night as with regular insulation.

Me and my wife purchase this product 2 months ago, they told us that we would save up to 40 percent on our utilities. I was skeptical day 1 of the installation, and now 2 months have gone by and my utility bill is higher than it was without it. The representative told us that the installation would take 4 to 6 hours to install. The installers installed the product in 1 hour and 15 minutes. I was supposed to get a 6 year loan instead I got an 11 year loan. I have a l s and I have to leave this debt to my wife and there is nothing that I can do about it. Do not buy into this product or you well get robbed. I urge people to read the reviews. This product does not work it's a waste of money.

Eagle Shield is a scam
They said we would save 40% on utilities and like others our bills were higher and we have not saved anything. So now we have same bills and 5k debt. They did not return our calls and them called and said they would come remove everyrhing. No one called and no one came. DO NOT BUY THIS PRODUCT. we trusted the manager because he claimed to be a Christian with integrity and morals. So much for that!

We had eagle shield come and install radiant barrier insulation all throughout our attic and wrap the ducts as well. It cost a lot and now I'm hesitant and a little embarrassed to tell you just how much it was. What got me, was the slick blue suede shoe salesman, who had a lot of technical jargon that at first seemed credible. Then by the time I educated myself on radiant barrier isulation, it was true that NASA uses it on their satellites to reflect RADIANT energy from the sun in outer space. But when it comes to laying this aluminum sheeting behind a roof, hidden from direct sun, the material does not respond to RADIANT energy, but CONDUCTIVE heat from the sun hitting your roof, heading the inner surfaces of your attic. Because Radiant reflective barrier has NO R-VALUE, it will not insulate or inhibit head from your roof to pass thru this metallic, highly conductive material, which heats up your attic. I had not realized this until I saw that my energy bill stayed the same compared to the same summer months of last year.
I advise that you do not use this material as insulation but instead use what the Eagle Shield salesman calls "a spunge" - fiberglass batten insulation on the attic FLOOR. I'm just going to move on now and forget this huge financial mistake in trusting Eagle Shield at all.
