We bought a car from this company back in May of 2008. We were having credit problems and they seemed like they could help. All of their cars were the same price! We paid $14, 999 for a 2003 Nissan Altima with 89, 000 miles! We signed the paperwork and then found out it has the payment device! We were not pleased! We have had nothing but problems with this device even when the payments were on time. A month after getting the vehicle it wouldn't start and when it was running the transmission was messed up, it is an automatic and wouldn't shift from first gear, etc! Finally got them to come get it and put a new transmission in it! We got it back about six weeks later and had to make the payments of course without a car to drive! We got behind a few months later because my husbands work got cut back to 3 days a week! We were caught up until last week when my husband was off work a week. The payment is nine days late and they are threatening to come after the vehicle! They don't want to work with us saying that this is our last chance at financing etc! I understand that but nine days late and they are going to repo! We are going to make a payment in a week if they haven't come after the car, I guess we are stuck with it but this place is horrible and rude and would not ever go back there again! Would walk first!
The complaint has been investigated and resolved to the customer’s satisfaction.
I went to express after watching the commercial on tv and the guy said as little as 100 dollars down with credit problems I went in with 700 dollars and had to come up with 300 more for 1000. And my payments went up not down. I told my mother who was looking for a car not to go to exspress she did anyways and it was horrible experience, I've only bought one car and if it is like express credit auto than I might just start riding a bike again
Ok totally changed mindset after reading all the post here.. and had to search for the real complaints alleged by actual customers. Just completed initial approval process and received confirmation email requesting contact to proceed. Certainly not happening now after this discovery. Thankful I am not yet in a desperate situation where I have no choice in the matter of doing business or not. While some poor past decisions, loss of employment and death of a family member find me in a place where I do need to rebuild my credit score for future fulfillment. I do not want to play a role in a nightmare by getting involved with a business like is discussed here . Thank you for expressing your experiences with Auto Credit Express aka Credit Auto Express and who knows how many other sub entities and I deeply hope your situations have improved for the better. Thanks again ONE CHANGED MIND RUNNING OUT THE DOOR !
I never used ECA. I thought I'd check some reviews after watching parts of ECA's hour long infomercial.. which includes a narrator reading an excerpt from a perfect "5 star review" about a stress free buying experience, etc. I was not surprised to find 100% negative reviews. PEOPLE- if you see an infomercial that spends all its time trying to convince you to do something, don't do it. If they weren't trying to gain a major unfair advantage over you when you buy their products, they wouldn't have to convince you.. The product would speak for itself by word of mouth. The infomercial says $1000 minimum on any trade in... What if they always add $2-3000 to the reasonable price of every car? Then your $200 crappy car looks like it made you $1000, but you already lost cause they are just subtracting less than they ripped you off. Then some other sap will buy that crappy $200 car which will get partially fixed and the rest of the malfunctions or damage hidden away to boost the price back up to resell at another rip off price. I'll bet they want you to pay attention only to the monthly payments and not on that total price which is so much higher than blue book, nor the interest rate... So if I were buying a car, I'd go to craiglist, ebay, some kind of used auto site where the people are selling to other people. Why put your money into the hands of experts... at ripping you off?
beware of this car company or should I say car dealer mafia at least that what my whole experience with eca has been for starters they pressure you into buying a car you don't want then your payment will be super high do not be short on your bi weekly payment or your car will be turned off dosent matter if your four dollars short and it's 20 degrees outside and your with your small children if you call to explain your just four dollars short and you have small children in car the account manager tells you it's not like their problem you can be 75 cent short and eca will turn your car off Don't have a job when you go buy a car from Eva cause you will lose it cause eca will turn your car off so much you will constantly be late or get fired When I talk to the account manager I have no way of getting to work can they work with me on the 75cents well I got fired thank you so much express credit auto this is how they will tray you after two years of on time payments I am so happy they repo the car my experience with express credit has been a nightmare
I purchased a 2008 Chevrolet Silverado with 115K miles on the odometer from ECA for $17, 995 from the Tulsa location. Salesman was very helpful and pleasant and explained everything in detail before I signed anything. I was fully aware to what I was committing to as he, ECA, AAF, knew my credit was... horrible. I will make no excuse for my credit situation, things happen in life, I made the choices. Before I even drove off the lot I encountered several people that were very informative who went over EVERYTHING with me.
Only issue I had with my vehicle was the TPMS sensor... which come to find out an individual from ECA removed the battery leads to reset the computer resulting in the system clearing the warning message. I do have access to scan tools to see this activity. An hour after purchase and the warning light was on... and since it was a bad sensor in the tires the ECA warranty did not cover it.
For 98% of the time during my "funding"with AAF I have made on time payments. When I did need help I called AAF before I needed it and they were more than willing to assist. There were a few rude people from time to time... but really... they deal with people that can't/don't want to pay their bills. It's the nature of the beast in regards to dealing with questionable credit individuals. But mostly my experience was okay, not outstanding, but just okay. Never did I encounter my vehicle disabled. In short, be responsible, pay your bills, establish that you are a good customer so when you do actually need help they are more inclined to see a positive history and help. Simply put... break the cycle, be an adult, and be responsible to what you have committed yourself to!
I'm literally 2 weeks till my vehicle is paid off and I OWN it, no I will not be going back to Express Credit Auto for another vehicle. Why? Because I can now use that monthly payment to continue my credit repair and payoff accounts. Because of ECA and my attention to improving my credit, my score has gone up almost 150 points within 3 years. Thanks ECA for taking a chance on me. Now traditional banks will consider me.
The bad:
Horrible interest rates!
Vehicles valued well above NADA and KBB.
Outrageous payments.
Very poor service! Express Credit Auto and the finance company that's advance of people with fair credit. They know they can screw people over with little to not other options! It's very sad. ECA buy garbage for two or three thousand and sell it for $10, 0000 not including tax & interest. People keep coming back and the dealership/finance company make a butt load in commission because people are desperate, in a bind, required to have a car to get to work! I will walk before I use ECA or any place like it. This is the worse place I've ever dealt with! I attempted to take the car back 10 hours after purchase, but they wouldn't have it because ECA knew they got over on selling a piece of junk for $12, 000.00 that was only worth maybe four to five thousand if that! I was a fool for signing up for a 2006 nearly two years ago, but at the time it was the only choice I had to get to work in the evenings and on the weekend! If it ran properly I could almost deal with the thousands of dollars wasted. To add to the fire the warranty dept cannot figure out what's going on with it! More than dissatisfied and I knew it was a mistake after I thought about it overnight, just a bad feeling! All I can do is pray That something can be worked out for reliable transportation. Hopefully I will not have to use ECA or a place like it again.
NEVER, EVER buy a car from this place. 9 times of out 10 your will regret it.
I did that mistake one time but will never do it again.
Whatever you do stay away from this place I just Purchased a Car August 3 2016 2 days after i purchased it i had to turn it into the warranty shop made my payments on time while it was in the shop for 3 weeks got it back with a whole list of repairs that had to be done which i dont understand why this car was on the lot in the first place with all the problems that were not fixed. After i got the car back in 3 weeks the car was still not running right so i called them and they told me to bring it back which i did and wanted to keep the car and didnt give me a lead time on how long so i asked for a loaner which they did give me so i refused to let me use so i had no choice but to keep the car so i had transportation to work. So 2 days ago i was driving to work and started to get a headache never thought about it being much until the next day i was driving to work and started to feel the same way so i pulled over to a mechanical shop and asked to have them take a look at my car and the guy said you have carbon monoxide leaking in your car. So i called the dealership back could not speak to a manager left my name and number called the number on the website site still could not reach a supervisor or manager they directed me to the finance department who i spoke the the most rudest woman who is a supervisor and who proceeded to tell me how it sounded like a personal problem. Lets just say i had to go to the hospital to make sure i did not have carbon monoxide poison. I have 2 baby's and these people do not care at all about your problems or anything once you purchase your car from them you are pretty much screwed so fair warning STAY AWAY.
I bought my car in 2014. I still have one more year til I get it paid off. My experience with the salesperson in OKC was great. He was very informative and I was out of there in no time with my car. A few things I did notice when taking my car was that one of the interior covers was missing, but other than that, no big deal. While test driving the car I noticed that it did have a low tire. They aired it up for me before I was on my way. Also, I was told that the keyfob, and the remote for the shutoff system were both in the glove box. I didn't think anything of it at the time, but neither were there. I live about 3 hours away and don't go to okc often, but after about 2 years of back and forth phone calls about the remote and keyfob I finally ended up going up there to get them. I was given a remote and a code to use for a 24 or 48 hour emergency delay for the shutoff. The code/remote have never worked, and no it was not the batteries. As far as the keyfob goes, no one knows anything about it and I am on my own as far as that goes. Anyways, back to the low tire. Upon leaving, and only making it a few blocks I was sitting on a flat. I limped back to the dealership, and they referred me to a tire shop up the street that does free patches. So, I go to the tire shop and about an hour later I am told that the hole is on the side wall, and there is no way to patch it. This also meant that they would not reattach the tire for safety reasons. I had to call the dealership and find out what they could do to help me since I had just gotten the car. It took about 2 hours of back and forth to finally get them to agree to come purchase a tire for me(I finally had to tell them I would just let them have the car back if I couldn't even get it home the day I purchased it). I had just used all of the money I had on the trip, and only had enough left for gas on the way back and through the week. After that, I did not have any problems for a few months. Then, I had the water pump go out. I am somewhat mechanical, a youtube mechanic if you will, and bought the part and replaced myself. No big deal. I figure if I can do the work and the parts are less than the $300 warranty fee then I might as well. No more downtime on the vehicle than it takes me to fix it. About a year later the battery and alternator both went out at the same time. Another replacement I did myself, and the alternator is lifetime guaranteed so I consider that a win. Shortly after I was interested in doing a trade in. I purchased a car, but had more need for a truck. I called to get info on it, and I was told that my car would have to be down to a balance of approx. $7000 before I could do a trade in. Doing the math on this, 20000 vehicle + almost another $8000 - $10000 in fees/interest on a 4 year note would allow me to do a trade in during my last year. Needless to say, after taking the money shaft for 3 years, I have no interest in restarting another note. I pay almost $650 a month and I was in no hurry to do it for another 4 years. So here I am now. My payments, honestly, are usually those 5 days late. My bills have the worst timing, and it happens. I have found that as long as I get my check right at 6am that I can pay with my card before the car is shut off. Unless of course I am at work and then I don't get out til 7 and the car is shut off by 6:30. I work within short walking distance to Walmart so cashing my check and loading money on it to have it turned on isn't too big of a deal. I have 3 complains that I want to lay out here:
1. The shutoff device is ridiculous. The company has zero leniency when it comes to late payments, and has the ability to leave you in a bind if you happen to go to the store or anywhere else and your car shuts off. This can lead to tows, car accidents, etc depending on when and where this happens to you. This has not happened to me, but I can only image. When Joe Shmoe is driving down the highway at 75mph and his car stalls out and the shutoff engages he is kinda screwed. Yes, if your car manages to stay on then you hear the noise telling you that the next time you turn the key it wont come back on. No matter under what conditions the car goes off(turn off key, stall out, etc)
2. Relating to number 1, the leniency. Be a little flexible with people being late. If I call you and ask for an extra few hours, or maybe even an extra day it should not be a big deal. The simple fact is that not only can you shut off the car, but you have gps built into your system as well so you know where it is. Hiding it wouldn't do any good anyways, so why even shut it off? I have read other complaints about people wanting to talk to a manager, etc. I have been told this as well. There are no managers to talk to. I am guessing the employees are told that they are to deny manager requests. On a side note to this, I had to change my payment date because it was screwed up in the beginning and the person I talked to had to go get approval to change it, so yes the fabled management does exist. They just will not talk to you directly.
3. The price, OMG! I know we are all a bunch of low credit shmucks, but give me a break. Yes, I read the info and signed the contract to take on this unbelievable debt. That's on me. I mention the price because I wouldn't wish these payments on anyone. I make pretty good money, and still struggle with all of my bills and this car payment.
So my advice to anyone reading this is simple. DONT GET A CAR FROM ECA! You will regret every second of it. The shutoff, and payments are my main reasons here. Mechanically, Ive been alright(Feel bad for you folks that got the lemons). If I could go back I would have found some $500 POS off of craigslist to get me around til I could get a decent down payment for a buy here pay here local used lot. I will never get another vehicle from them. I was crazy for even thinking about trading after 2 years, and I am thankful that I couldn't not or it would be even worse.
