Horrible service that cost me time & money
Horrible service that cost me time & money. Would not recommend anyone doing business with them.
Was with them for about 13 years
Was with them for about 13 years. They were a pretty decent bank until about 3 years ago. I can sum up the problem in one word. FEES. God do they love fees. Everywhere you turn your getting charged. ATM fees are insane, I did file a complaint with the OTC so they can review their fee schedule which has to be illegal.
This bank displays appalling customer service. In trying to resolve a credit dispute stemming from a failure of auto draft enrollment for an auto loan, of which I was not informed on any occassion and never received so much as a phone call or email indicated the process had failed, I was informed that First Citizens has no record of any of the FIVE autodraft enrollment attempts, or even a record that I had called into customer service to request the enrollment for three out of five. It is quite literally impossible to request this enrollment form in any other way but to call into customer service, where absolutely every customer interaction is required by company policy to be documented. They then asked ME to provide evidence that I had attempted to enroll, to which I could only provide the original docusign email requests for each of the five occasions. Apparently this is not satisfying evidence, and because of their own negligence there is no record of previous customer service interactions on their side. I'm now in a position, in calendar year 2021, to require MAIL to a PO box or FAX MACHINE to provide attestation to vindicate myself with utterly no hope that this will ever be resolved. I had been attempting to resolve this credit dispute in an effort to get a loan approved WITH THEM for a construction project on my home. Congratulations on costing yourselves several hundred thousand dollars worth of interest.
If their dependence on Mail and Fax is any indication of their internal security posture or ability to protect customer data, I advise never to trust this ancient fossil with any confidential information. In business 123 years? Seems to me like they're still using rock and chisel for documentation.
Absolutely appalling customer service. I will be closing my account at my earliest opportunity and never banking with this pile of archaic rubble again. What a total disaster of a bank. Good luck competing in the modern age. If there was option for 0 stars, I'd have chosen that. Completely unsurprising that their user rating is 1/5 stars. Also completely unsurprising that they have not even so much as attempted to become Complaintsboard.com accredited.
I have been trying for eight weeks to get my money from another investment group moved to my brokerage account at First Citizens Bank. I have been switched back and forth from two different branches with each of the persons I've talked with saying that they do not have the license to do what I need. I have called and left messages as well as emailed these people with no help and most of time time with no return calls. One of these people says she is the Financial Sales Manager and the other person is a branch manager. Now they cant seem to do anything to get my money transferred and they dont even seem to be able to send me to anyone that can. I am amazed that a bank the size of First Citizens cannot offer their customers any help in getting their money moved to Frist Citizens! You would thing=k that they would be glad that you want to deal with them alone. I have tried to contact the corporate office and an waiting on their call. I want to make this complaint in hopes that someone will see it and decide that it's not worth the time to deal with this bank. I have been a customer for many years and have my business and personal accounts with them. I am searching and as soon as I find another bank that I feel comfortable with, I will moving everything from Frist Citizens. I hope this will help someone.
Decided to open a separate bank account from the joint one I share with my wife and found out the hard way that not all banks value their customers the same. I went into this bank to set up an account and was never told that they will allow charges to go through on the account even if there is not any money in the bank. They are saying they do it for emergency purposes as if people would want to pay a $36 fee instead of using their credit card. Then they want to act like they didn't purposely hold off on transaction just to charge me a fee. Going to tell me after the fact I should have turned off the feature that allows them to let charges go through. No, you should have told me you turn on that feature without my permission. My first time every dealing with overdraft fees and my last time as well because I refuse to keep allowing this bank to steal my money.
They are the worst bank yet! Do not... I repeat do not bank with them. They scam people out of their money. They hold transactions to charge overdraft fees. We are in the middle of a pandemic and here we have banks stealing peoples money! I have no idea who the manager *** is but none of them care about the customer. I wish we never opened an account with them!

They are holding social security checks a day later, Their system is holding deposit funds to make it easy to give a person a overdraft fee, When you call to confront the situation they blame you and not their system. This needs to be investigated because they have been doing this way too long and they need to be stopped.
In the top five of worst banks. I banked with first citizen for 9 years. Unfortunately after Covid 19 I experienced some hardship and had to close my checking account in the negative. They harassed and threaten me about paying the amount back. I've tried to work with them but they tell me my return payment amounts are insufficient and want a larger percentage of the balance. Completely unprofessional.
Absolutely the worst bank I have ever had. They stole $300 dollars out of my checking account. When questioned about where my money went, no one seems to know anything. Was told by corporate tbat they would help me file a claim if I called back the next day. I called back and now they are telling me they can't file a claim. I will be getting an attorney involved and telling everyone I know about my experience. Stay away from this bank unless you want your money stolen from you with no explanation.
First citizen bank on *** in Charlotte, NC is a total wreck. It has been over 2 months and I still haven't received my business debit card. The first time she messed up my ssn which I understood and mistakes happen. We got it taken care of and supposedly it was shipped. I know mail is backed up but its not that terrible. I have since then opened another bank account and received my card in less than a week. This is unacceptable. I called the corporate number that's online which is a branch in Raleigh and doesn't have a corporate number to reach me at according to the supervisor. He got somebody that is a regional manager for my local area and offered to expedite the shipping for the card. I ended up speaking with *** at the local branch who did expedite the process. However, I did ask why I haven't received, this time the address wasn't on there correctly. Now this is ridiculous. I have never received such poor customer service or careless mistakes.
ZERO STARS! First Citizens Bank purchased the bank that I did business with over a year ago. Since that time, they've continued to send monthly statements @ $5 each. I call each month asking them to stop. I've tried to close the account in writing--they said my signature didn't match. My balance has gone to zero, and they had the nerve to charge an OVERDRAFT FEE! Once the charged the overdraft fee, they closed my account! (Which is fine because I've wanted to close it anyway) But I shouldn't have to pay $35 for this. THEY dwindled my account down to $0 and have the nerve to charge me! Customer service is unhelpful. They talk you in circles and in the end, rob you of your money through a $5 monthly statement fee that they make impossible to cancel

Our local branch is not as helpful to you once you actually open up an acct with them...Any time we have had issues, with our credit card machine, or check scanner or questioning certain charges they can never seem to help me...I have contacted the main number numerous of times trying to get things resolved and they always say to talk with the branch manager...They have avoided my calls or when I go into the branch they are "busy". When I do bring information in to try to get help or a resolution, I end up NOT hearing back from them after they say they will "look further into it". They definitely have their favorites as far as customers and tend to go over and beyond for them and keeping them informed of new things going on when I cant even get a call back. The owner of the business, just called and spoke to someone in the local office part of the bank and was treated very poorly and not willing to take the time to find out what we needed more assistance with...This bank has lots of hidden fees and I would not recommend them for a business acct or a personal acct for that matter. I know that myself and the business have made mistakes that have cost us, but this bank is not the one to help you if you do make a mistake during hard times. Think twice before using First Citizens Bank!

I've been banking with FC For over 20 years. My check goes in bank Friday morning at 3am. If I try to spend any money between 5 am and anytime on Friday it gives me a negative balance. Even though it says my money is available. They hit me with 32 dollar fee and always got a story to cover ***. They are a bunch of *** crooks who feed off the middle and low class. This bank is rearranging transactions in their benefit to make you overdraft. They have costed us over $200 in overdraft fees and have put my family and a TERRIBLE spot financially. We have been struggling to get by ever since, scrapping pennies just to have dinner at night. They will not fix where they have wronged us because getting overdraft fees refunded are only one time "curtesy" thing that we already had use once when *** double charged us in the same week. The bank tellers and the customer service line all have something different as to what put us in the negative, we see one thing, the tellers sees something different and customer service see something different. So tell me, how am I supposed to trust this bank and believe they aren't scamming people?

Moved to a new location and needed to do a wire transfer for closing, there were no local branches and FC does not do wire transfers over the phone. That is a dumb policy, if you don't have branches across the country why have a policy that makes it impossible for your customers to move their money. Whatever, dumb policy aside, that is not why I am leaving this review. I decided to find the closest branch and drive there to do the wire transfer in person. Tried using the branch locator on their website, it was useless. If you enter an address that is not within, idk, 25 miles of a branch, it just says "sorry, there are no locations near you, please modify your search and try again". So I decided to use Google Maps instead and it showed a branch that was 2 hours away. Just to make sure I called the main FC number to confirm that I could go to that branch to do a transfer and that it was one of their branches. The rep said it was definitely a FC branch that I could go and do my wire transfer from there. So two days later I drive two hours to this branch only to be told that they are a different First Citizens Bank and not associated with my First Citizens Bank. You can imagine my anger at this point given I called FC to confirm this was one of their branches. So I call FC again and after telling me their was nothing they could do, give me a different branch that is located five hours away from me. So I wasted half a day driving to a branch that they told me was theirs. Said sorry for the mistake, still can't help you with your wire transfer, you still need to show up in person at a branch, oh and this branch is over five hours away. Don't expect First Citizens Bank to help you or even give you accurate information when it's most important. There is a reason brick and mortar banks are going extinct. Find yourself a more customer focused bank, you will thank yourself later when you have a big life event and your bank actually does what a bank is meant to do.

Loans
4/5/23: Contacted CS to request a 10 day loan payoff letter with a per diem. Was told by representative that it would be emailed to me. 4/6/23: I had not received the loan payoff so I contacted CS again. The representative was extremely rude and informed me that emailing the payoff was not an option and that the letter had been mailed to me and I would have to wait 7-10 business days to get it. I requested a supervisor. She was every bit as rude as the representative and provided no help. 4/6/23: I also sent a secure message through the First Citizens app to request the payoff. 4/7/23: I’m not 100% sure about this date (it could have been 4/8/23) but I chose to reach out to CS again because I had received conflicting information. I spoke to a gentleman, who was very nice. He said he didn’t have the option to email the letter but he would reach out to the loan department. I told him I would just wait and see if I received the letter in the mail or if someone responded to my message on the app. 4/9/23: I received a response to my message on the app that read, “ Dear Whitney Smith, Thank you for your message. We appreciate the opportunity to respond to your inquiry. Our records indicate that you contacted us in regards to this inquiry. If you need further assistance, please do not hesitate to send us a message or call us toll free at 888-FC DIRECT [protected]). You can also contact us internationally at [protected]. Our representatives are available Monday - Friday 8:00am to 9:00pm EST, Saturday & Sunday 8:00am to 8:00pm EST. Thank you for contacting First Citizens Bank. We appreciate your business. Sincerely, Stefanie Customer Support Specialist 4/9/23: I responded to the message on the app. My response read, “ Yes, in fact, I have contacted more than once about this inquiry and I haven’t received a loan payoff as of yet. Every other bank I have ever dealt with has NEVER had a problem sending me the loan payoff. The last bank I dealt with, I was able to print off the loan payoff myself. Seems to me that First Citizens is mighty eager to collect that $7.25 per day in interest, which is exactly why no one will send me the payoff so that I can have this loan transferred to a company that I actually trust and enjoy working with. I have never dealt with more difficult people, or such awful customer service than I have with First Citizens Bank. I look forward to paying this loan off and moving on from this company.” 4/10/23: I received another response on the app that read, “ Dear Whitney Smith, Thank you for your message. We appreciate the opportunity to respond to your inquiry. Our records indicate your loan payoff request was mailed on 04/06/2023 to the mailing address we have on file. Please allow up to 10 business days for this to arrive at your location. Sincerely, Sheeka Customer Support Specialist 4/18/23: I still had not received the loan payoff letter that was supposed to have been mailed on 4/6/23. I contacted CS again and spoke to a very nice girl. She apologized for the frustrations and explained that they could email me the loan payoff but told me I would have to make the request from the email account on file and include my name and loan number. She provided me with the email address of [protected]@firstcitizens.com. She informed me the request would take 24-48 hours to receive a response. 4/18/23: I emailed the provided address @ 4:09pm 4/18/23: I also sent another message on the app that read, “ Good afternoon: First of all, your customer service leaves a lot to be desired. It is extremely sad that you and other representatives are either uninformed, or misinformed about the options for requesting a loan payoff. I first requested a loan payoff on 4/5/23 through customer service. All you can tell me is that it was mailed on 4/6/23. I have not received that letter yet. Mail is delivered on Saturdays, so that is 11 days since you say it was mailed, which is absolutely unacceptable. Letters do not take that long to be delivered. Fortunately, the girl that I spoke with today was able to simply give me an email address so that I could make the request to have the payoff emailed to me, which is what I’ve been asking for since 4/5/23. She seems to be the only person who knows how to do her job, which is really sad for your company. Please keep responding with your generic, unhelpful responses though, I love the confirmation that I’m doing the right thing!” 4/20/23: I received a response on the app that read, “ Dear Whitney Smith, Thank you for your message. We appreciate the opportunity to respond to your inquiry. We apologize for the frustration this may have caused. A complaint has been filed on your behalf; your case number is CMPLT202373943. 4/20/23: I still had not received either the mailed letter or an email with the loan payoff information. I contacted CS again and spoke with another nice lady. She apologized again for the frustrations and contacted the loan department for me. She informed me that the loan department told her that the requests usually do take 24-48 hours for a response but they had an overload of requests and it could take up to 72 hours. I was advised to wait another day and if I did not receipt to contact them again but hopefully that wouldn’t be the case. 4/21/23: I still had not received either the mailed letter or the email with the loan payoff information. I contacted CS again and spoke to a nice lady but she told me again that the payoff could not be emailed to me. A supervisor told me the same thing. According to the supervisor, she didn’t see that the letter had been mailed on 4/6/23. She said she saw that the letter was mailed on 4/19/23 after they received an email request on 4/18/23. She was absolutely no help at all. I STILL do not have anything more than a verbal payoff and per diem from this financial institution and I am waiting to finish a refinance with another company.
Desired outcome: Email or overnight my requested loan payoff letter!
Our ATM card is constantly being breached
Our ATM card is constantly being breached. They wont' ever return the full amount. Their fraud dept. investigates but & won't refund what's taken. In the past year my ATM card has been breached and money has been taken from our account. It's happened more than 5 times in six months. We have been assigned 4-5 new cards in the last 6 months. First Citizens fraud dept. always contacts us indicating a breach, questioning if we made purchases, we tell them we haven't made the purchases, the bank investigates, says we were hacked, but often denies refunding our account the full amount taken. It is happening so often, that we are fearful it may be a bank practice. We currently depositing 6000+ per month and are constantly being breached. We have been assigned 5 new ATM cards in the past 6 months due to breaches. This isn't a substantial amount of money to many people, but it is to me and my family. The bank spends 5-7 working days investigating fraud on your account and once fraud is determined the bank disputes the amount they will return to you account. We have not been in the best financial position in the past 4-5 years and these breach occurrences are causing more problems for my family - bill payment delays, discovering a breach when dining with family at a restaurant, not being able to pick-up a car in the shop for repair while awaiting an investigation, having to call to make payment arrangements, etc.
The complaint has been investigated and resolved to the customer’s satisfaction.
I opened a First Citizens Bank checking and Savings account in Late May. On June 21, 2022 I noticed I no longer have access to my login. I called the support line and the automated systems kept giving me errors even though I entered in information correctly. When reaching a phone representative, they could not give me any information on my account. They only gave me a phone number of [protected]. When calling this number, it was for a completely different company and couldn't give me answers since they were a different company.
In April I contacted the bank about 11 overdraft fees. 11 fees that were not supposed to be charged because I signed up for no transactions to process unless funds were available. When I called they told me I did not sign up for that which was a lie because I did. They informed me I would be set up for that going forward and no more overdraft charges would be charged to my account. Starting june 16 2022 i was charged 6 more overdrafts over a 5 day period. When I contacted the bank they informed I was not signed up for no overdraft and zero notes in the system requesting it. They refused to return the fees and told me I could apply to not have them in the future. This company has lied to be several times now and charged $612.00 in overdraft fees. They have robbed me blind and they need to answer for this blatant theft.

I sent in my auto draft "coupon" roughly 8 weeks ago at the beginning of October along with the first payment on my new vehicle. I never heard anymore about it and this bank does not have the option for online banking so I couldn't check on it. Then 11/30 at 4:46 PM I receive a call from First Citizens collections department that I was past due for my November payment. I was understandably upset as I had assumed this was set up months ago as my October payment was taken out of my bank account around 10/14 and I sent them in the same envelope. After a 17 minute phone the representative stated they found where I sent in the auto draft request and it was never processed but I would have to call customer service to fix the late charges and payments for November and now December. I called customer 12/1 and spoke to 3 difficult individuals all stating there was no record of this 11/30 call despite me having the call log nor did they have record of me sending in an auto draft request 8 weeks prior. The 3rd supervisor *** opened a ticket but told me fees would only be waived if they found proof of error on their part. I want fees to be removed as the rep from 11/30 call stated she found where I sent in the request and they dropped the ball. I also want the auto draft set up as they are playing with an almost 55k auto loan and I do not appreciate a bank poorly handling my money to the point it could effect my credit score

This bank stole $33 from me and is trying to justify a bogus fee. Honestly, they are not trying to get a resolution and they do not care about their customers.
I asked several times for first citizens bank to stop charging me overdraft fees they have not. I have been charged 2 or 3 times since I've made the request. One issue is that they have items pending longer than should and they aren't properly doing cheques and balances. I've had several issues concerning this matter with this particular bank. I am asking that you help to resolve this matter. Please and thank you

I bought a computer but faced order and shipping issues
I bought a computer from a well-known manufacturer. They informed me shipping wouldn't occur until July 9. After ordering online, I noticed a major error. Despite sending the correct model link to the sales rep, he ordered the wrong PC model. I tried contacting them the next day to no avail. After leaving multiple messages and emails without a response, I canceled the order and got a confirmation on the 19th. Later, the sales rep apologized for his absence, assuming I had my computer. Then, an 'order shipped' notification arrived. I disputed the charge with my bank and planned to refuse delivery. The bank removed the pending transaction. I informed the manufacturer and gave them the dispute ID, suggesting they intercept the shipment to save costs, but they didn't. The delivery attempt on 6/27 was refused by me, and I have tracking evidence. The computer was sent back on 6/29, yet I was charged $1611. First Citizen Bank is not helping with the charge removal. I've shown proof of refusal and informed them the charge is unauthorized since the order was canceled before shipping. First Citizens Bank must rectify this unauthorized transaction immediately. The product in question is a computer from the manufacturer.

I called the bank on 4/26/22 and asked the agent to close my account as I am not using it at the moment as I moved. Agent was very nice and proceeded to close the account and said I would receive a check with the amount it was in my account which was $7.77 I am calling today after a month and the agent said first that the check was mailed out. I replied I had not received, she put me on hold ain and then informed me that by the State of *** law there is a mailing closeout fee of $10. I informed her that I was never told that and she said that they are unaware of that fee, that they just pass the information to a department that is not in contact with the customers. I told her that if I would had known they were going to take my money, I would kept and continue funding the account, I asked how to escalate and after a hold period she said that the customer incident team could not help me , but that she could help me by creating herself a claim note indicating that I do not know the state law. Not that I am fighting by principle on this robbery, but blaming that I don't know the state law. I would like to receive a check for $7.77 or escalate this further. thank you
I had a negative balance and have been sick with covid and couldn't get inside the bank in person to request they keep the account open til I paid it off and made it right. I sent messages via app and also called. Instead, they closed my account and wrote off the balance to my credit score and didn't give me the extra time I requested. I've never not paid anything I owe and never had any health issues to where I was physically bed ridden. I'm please just trying to get the bank account and card reactivated so I can pay off the balance and have the extra time as I requested. 20 days is all I ask and this write off to be off my credit.
My car loan was refinanced from First Citizens Bank to another credit union
I had a car loan with First Citizens Bank that was refinanced with a different Credit Union. On July 14th, 2022, I contacted First Citizens Loan Processing center to request the 10-day loan payoff amount while at the office of the loan processing manager at the new Credit Union. The call was on speakerphone, and we were provided with the payoff amount. A check for this amount was sent from the new Credit Union to First Citizens on July 15th and received by them on July 19th. However, First Citizens also drafted a payment from my account on July 15th for a payment that was due before they processed the payoff check. I've now received a letter from First Citizens claiming I owe an additional $615.00 due to the payoff being short. Despite multiple attempts to resolve the issue due to their initial misquote, I've only encountered delays and excuses. I've been trying to address this for three weeks and believe I shouldn't be responsible for the remaining balance. I was promised a review of the initial call, but I've yet to receive a clear response regarding its status. I would appreciate any help in resolving this situation.

On 4/24 I had a balance of 0.25 in my account I woke up to my account being overdrawn by 8.57. I deposited $10.00 into my account which brought my account up to $1.68. I monitor my account daily so I know what's in my account. First citizens like to tell you the online and mobile banking doesn't show the same thing. Then why have mobile banking? I woke up my paycheck was deposited and I was charged $36.00 NSF for the overdraft that was on 4/24. There was no NSF in my account on 4/25 until this morning I woke up and my account was charged which everything was dated for this morning. This is not the first time that this has happened and they won't refund you and give some bogus excuse as to why they can't. I mean really this bank charged $36 for an $8.00 item. That's not fair and this bank needs investigated. I would like all of money for the times that I was charged unethically but I will settle for this $36.00 refund
I was traveling in ***, Poland as part of a humanitarian effort to Evacuate children in hostile cities within Ukraine. On April 13, 2022, I was approached by a young lady in *** on the street who advised me of a place to eat and drink that was wonderful. She led me to aiterally underground establishment where the trafficking of women was taking place. I was given a drink very quickly, which had a large dose of GHB in it. I woke up 1 hour later with my phone smashed on the stone pavement and over $1800 dollars fraudulently charged on my debit card. My other two cards were attempted but didn't process apparently. I called First Citizens immediately and filed a fraud case. I was notified on April 26 by Fraud department, of me being denied reimbursement based on their conclusion it was a valid tip. This is beyond infuriating and bad business. First citizen is indirectly allowing the funding of human trafficking, in a well known drug/robbery scam in *** Poland. I called back and reopened the case, however, First Citizens Bank, after 15 years with then, have killed my business with then if this how they treat customers who have been robbed and drugged Ina foreign country.
Opened a checking account and completed offer requirements for $300 bonus
Opened a checking account and completed offer requirements for $300 bonus. First Citizens Bank refuses to honor the bonus. Very concerning. First Citizens Bank offered a $300 bonus. The requirements included opening a checking/savings account, making 10 debit card transactions, and enrolling in e-statements. I opened my account on 3/23 and completed the requirements on 4/6. I pursued this offer in good faith and thought that First Citizens would honor the advertisement found on its website. I called the bank a couple weeks ago to ask why the bonus has not posted to my account yet; the representative advised me to wait a little longer but that it will post shortly. However, I called the bank today and was disappointed to hear that my account would not receive the bonus. I have a screenshot of the offer on their website (which the Sales Team, remarkably, did not know existed when I inquired) and a phone conversation with a representative confirming that I will be receiving the bonus. I have called several times. A supervisor told me that several customers (15+) have complained about the bonus. I have been promised a call back by the head of sales, compliance, and investigations departments but they do not call back. In response to my CFPB complaint, they stated I was not targeted with a direct mailer. I sent in a screenshot of the offer appearing on their website, which they said would be accepted. I have had a horrible experience with this bank and advise others to select a different financial institution.

I've had a scammer take hold of all my banking information as well as my personal information
I've had a scammer take hold of all my banking information as well as my personal information. As soon as I noticed the transaction for $2000 I left a message through app and called first thing in the morning. They failed to stop the transaction and let two more go through for $200 each totaling $2400. I got a hold of someone with customer service who was really wonderful and promising my first phone call to them and she helped me put a hold on the accounts and explained this happens to everyone and not to worry, we'll get my money back. She did tell me I had to go inside a branch to reopen a account and that's when everything went wrong. I went in and the lady I spoke to was unhelpful, uninformative and didn't care I just lost $2400 and wanted me to deposit more money for opening the new account when any other bank I've ever had would've had my $2400 back in my account by now on a provisional credit. She had no idea about my dispute or other account or why they were having me open a new one, she seemed confused the whole time and was literally useless. She eventually "opened" my new account and wrote down the account number on a card, didn't help me get into online mobile banking which I still can't, told me card would come in 7 days and I need to deposit money by next day or they'll just close the account.. yeah sorry I don't trust you with a dollar if you aren't going to give me back my $2400 that was unauthorized. I've decided to give it one more week and reach out to a lawyer. I'll be getting my money back one way or another.

COMPUTER FRAUD!
COMPUTER FRAUD! COMPUTER FRAUD! Windows Defender (***) gave WARNING notice on my computer about hacking from China. With bad judgement, I called #***, *** told me money had been taken from my account of $2000.00. I am 74 years old and live off S. Security. He then gave me a # to call that was suppose to be First Citizens Bank Fraud: ***. The phone was answered by First Citizens Bank automation. I clicked on Fraud. This misled me to believe I was talking to First Citizens. Woman then went over my checking acct, calling out transactions. Then she said $2,000 had been taken out of my acct at 6:00 am. By now my anxiety out the roof! By now I'm not thinking straight. She convinced me to purchase prepaid cards of 4 at $500 each. She told me this $2,000 would block out the fraud charge of $2,000. She would make sure my money would be placed back into my account by the next morning. THIS NEVER HAPPENED. I WAS SWINDLED! They took advantage of my age. I have spoke with First Citizens Fraud Dept 3 times, Customer Service once, and Main Bank Manager once. First Citizens refused to give my money back, because of no trail. I am sick. They took all my money. These people were good at their scamming.. I hope these devils are caught!.I have kept information, but I can add by computer because I don't have equipment to scan. I have filed with ***, NC Police Dept. I Have copy of Police Report. I filed with IC3, filed with FTC (I have copy of FTC) and now you. I would appreciate any help you can give me to get my money back!

Accepted for preapproval for a mortgage loan
Accepted for preapproval for a mortgage loan. After three months of communication and paperwork and close to $5000 spent, loan approval terminated. We began our process for a home mortgage with First Citizens July 10th. Initially we were denied due to low credit score but following advice from Mortgage Banker *** we extended our contract and worked on our credit to bring it up 80 points. All the paperwork that was asked for was turned in on multiple occasions to speed up the process, including our 2018 taxes, 2019 taxes, and our 2020 Profit and Loss Statement for my business. On 8/18 we received our preapproval letter for the amount requested of $132,000. On 9/11 we received our appraisal at $145,000. Underwriter requested a list of key repairs needed before closing. Approval was received from Underwriter, Mortgage Banker and seller for us as buyers to begin work. Confirmation was received that if we fixed the needed repairs our underwriter would approve the loan and that 10/9 would be our closing date. 9/30 material was purchased, contract signed with our General Contractor for $5000 to begin the work on the house. Work began 10/1 and our loan approval was suddenly denied that evening due to the fact I've been self employed less than two years. Why was this issue not brought up in July during our first application? We've now spent close to $5000 from Due Dilligence, Due Dilligence again to extend our contract, Earnest Money, Home Inspection, Bank Appraisal plus home repairs. All this to get approved when it turns out we were never going to be approved anyway. It feels like we've been dragged along, cheated and mislead throughout this whole process.

Failure that seems more like a denial, to close account and transfer funds
Failure that seems more like a denial, to close account and transfer funds. I called corporate weeks ago to close my account with First Citizens. They said they would transfer the positive balance on my credit card to my checking and then close the credit account. They asked me to link my debit account with my new bank to transfer funds then they could close the account. I did this and have since had it double checked with a representative. My credit transfer was never done. I had to call again for that and they were supposed to close the account. I waited and waited for the micro deposits to my navy fed account that would let me link the account... Never came I called and we checked everything I had done. There was no issue but they couldn't figure out why it wasn't working so then they sent me to a branch which I drove for an hour to get to. And keep in mind my credit account still had not been closed. But at this point I would like to keep it open because in the two previous calls no one told me this could negatively impact my credit score. At the local branch they assured me after I asked multiple times if this check for the money in my account would be enough for a mobile deposit. I have tried it on my boyfriend's phone and mine on two entirely separate apps that I have for banking. Neither app not phone will work. The checks lettering is too blurry. And I even tried taking the photos after restarting apps or changing internet connection or lighting or the background. Nothing worked same response every time. It seems to me this is a conscious effort to keep my money invested in their operation. I want my money. I got bills to pay and they are linked to an account that is waiting for this money. This is ridiculous.

I entered a loan agreement with First Citizens Bank on behalf of my brother who is a member of their bank
I entered a loan agreement with First Citizens Bank on behalf of my brother who is a member of their bank. The bank agreed to have 36 equal payments drafted from his account to pay off this loan. After 35 successful payments/drafts, the bank allegedly sent me a bank statement, stating that the final payment had to be made in the office. I never received this statement, which was sent via Snail Mail. After seeing that my credit report was harpooned as a result of this, I wrangled with First Citizens *** for three weeks. I also called multiple First Citizens Banks to verify this policy. Each bank agreed to this policy, but none were able to show me that this policy was addressed with me during the conception of the loan, neither the contract nor the promissory note. In fact, no managers were able to tell me where this policy was explained to any lendees. Three weeks later, after 30 to 50 calls, two managers, one in ***, GA and one at the *** office told me that a note was made at the bottom of the final statement, which was sent out two weeks before the final payment was due. As a result of me not receiving this statement or catching this note, without any phone calls from the bank and assuming the final payment went through because sufficient funds were in the account, I received a call from a collection agency, stating that my account was in default. I tried to inform every bank manager that this was predatory lending, but the higher bank managers balked. Even until yesterday evening, the loan department told me that there is nothing in writing, stating this policy, minus the note at the bottom of this one statement. They keep repeating that this should have been caught by me. Thiis seems completely absurd. Why wouldn't such a significant policy be a part of the contract or promissory note. to the contrary, my contract says that there would be thirty-six equal $150.25 and not thirty-five.

I have moved on from First Citizens since December and instead of parting amicably this company decided to flip the lights back on and
I have moved on from First Citizens since December and instead of parting amicably this company decided to flip the lights back on and harass me for a $130 advance I supposedly received for a charge that took place on a CLOSED account. I have spent months calling support only to be directed to a local branch, going to a local branch only to be directed to a branch three hours away from me, call after call after call. Hours of my life that are worth FAR more than this $130 charge. I was a longstanding First Citizens banker of more than 15 years, when I got married we decided to combine assets at a credit union and at that time I began shifting my assets from First Citizens to ***. I'm early 2022 I started receiving calls from what seemed like scammers. They would leave cryptic messages telling me to call back and when I did they would tell me I had to call or go to a local branch. I even contacted a local branch at this time and an employee told me nobody from First Citizens was trying to reach me for anything - so I went on assuming these calls were spam. Weeks later I got an alert that I had been reported to credit bureaus by...First Citizens. Over a delinquent account and $130 owed. At this time I called FC Support by phone and was again told to go to a branch, which I finally did locally in NC. the lady I met with in *** assured me the $130 charge was ridiculous and she would have it waived. Weeks passed and she stopped returning my emails and only after continual followup I learned she had done nothing and I'd have to go to the branch in my hometown, seemingly where the acct was opened 15 years ago to resolve. I called these local branches and was still unable to get proof of the charge, how it appeared after my acct was closed, what it was for, who it was from or AMY details other than it's what I owe and the numbers don't lie. I do not owe this bank money and they have no right to hurt ky credit with no proof of wrongdoing.

I applied for *** loan with First Citizens on March 13
I applied for *** loan with First Citizens on March 13. Upon seeing the documents on Mar. 19, I realized my credit report had been pulled before I submitted my application because my name was incorrect. My first and middle names were reversed. My name on the application and documents submitted had my correct legal name. I told the representative the only time I had EVER used my middle name was on a dating website and didn't know this name was on my credit report. I was asked via email to send a copy of my driver's license which I provided. On April 1, I began calling the representative to follow up on the *** process. After not hearing from her, I sent an email on April 5 informing her that I had not been able to reach her. I did not hear from the representative until April 16 at 5:30 pm informing me the bank had submitted a counteroffer. She apologized for the delay and said she had been moving her office. I accepted the counteroffer because the original *** loan amount was submitted by the representative without my knowlege, before I had submitted my application and was far more than I had planned to request but I approved the amount. She followed up the counteroffer with an email confirmation on the same day, April 16 at 5:44 pm saying let me know what you decide when I had already accepted the offer. I didn't see the email until Monday, April 19 and I realized that the amount I had written down was different from the confirmation email. The representative confirmed the amount and I accepted again. I never heard from her again. From a complaint that was filed with the CFPB, I learned from First Citizen's Bank that the counteroffer had actually been made on April 6 and the deadline for accepting was April 16. I was not even contacted April 16 and then clearly accepted the offer. This has been the worst financial experience of my entire career. I will be filing a complaint with the Federal Reserve

I bought an item on an online marketplace for $350.16 with my First Citizens card
I bought an item on an online marketplace for $350.16 with my First Citizens card. It was for a product and since the seller did not have it, they promised a refund which I never received. I waited and tried to understand the merchant but eventually contacted the marketplace and my bank for investigations. I've been misled by First Citizens Bank representatives who seemed uninterested in assisting me. I was assured there was no reason my refund wouldn't be approved, unlike a previous denial based on a misunderstanding. I was promised provisional credit and updates, but received inconsistent information. After years with First Citizens Bank, I'm contemplating closing my account due to poor customer service. With the marketplace ruling in my favor, I'm urging my bank to refund the money I was scammed out of. The marketplace confirmed that card issuer policies aren't bound by their user agreement, and that I'm entitled to recover my funds. The case has been decided in my favor. This link provides more details: https://www.paypal.com/us/brc/article/customer-disputes-claims-chargebacks-bank-reversals What is a chargeback? A chargeback is when a buyer asks their credit or debit card issuer to reverse a transaction. They are available to buyers who paid with a card and are governed by the card issuer's rules and timelines. I need assistance to recover my funds from this wrongly denied claim.

In January this year I went to first citizens to start the home buying process
In January this year I went to first citizens to start the home buying process. I found a house to purchase in *** North Carolina and I paid $1,000 down payment. I paid around $700 in inspection fees. I was supposed to close on April 3rd but because of the foreclosure the closing date was delayed. The foreclosure you ended on April 3rd so the bank claimed that they was going to continue the process on April 4th. A week later the bank terminated the contract due to covid-19, therefore I lost $1,000 down payment and the $700 in inspection fees that I paid. All of this was by no fault of my own. In September the realtor and I went back to first Citizen to give it a second go in purchasing a home. I found a townhouse with *** builders Raleigh division (***) I paid $3,000 earnest money and $500 appraisal fees fees. We were given the closing date of November 16th however again I didn't close on that date. The bank had 60 days and they didn't make the deadline. When we started the process in September I gave the bank everything that they asked of me, and the Monday before veterans day after 4:30 the loan processor *** was calling me for information that she already had and I was supposed to close the following Monday. Well again this is another contract terminated one because I didn't have the one percent delay penalty and we didn't have a confirm approval on the closing costs. I lost $3,500. the realtor *** tried everything she could to get my money back however *** they are determined not to give me my $3,000 back. They sent a contract and I thought it was to terminate the loan but the contract also indicated that I was reneging on my money being returned. All of the emails that the realtor sent and the emails that I sent why what they think I'm not want my $3,000 back. I gave up an apartment, a year process with no house and no money left for another purchase. Gave up my apartment, now I'm home. Product_Or_Service: $5,200.00

They are holding social security checks a day later, Their system is holding deposit funds to make it easy to give a person a overdraft fee, When you call to confront the situation they blame you and not their system. This needs to be investigated because they have been doing this way too long and they need to be stopped.
I've been banking with FC For over 20 years. My check goes in bank Friday morning at 3am. If I try to spend any money between 5 am and anytime on Friday it gives me a negative balance. Even though it says my money is available. They hit me with 32 dollar fee and always got a story to cover ***. They are a bunch of *** crooks who feed off the middle and low class. I've paid 300 or more in fees over ten years spending my own money. I am done with FC. FIRST CROOKS
