declined checks for no reason
I was a victim of the Equifax data breach and put freezes on all my stuff. even spoke with several agents that checked my information just to find nothing. They repeatedly said it would be updated in their system and I should be just fine to use my checks again but once again I was DENIED. Several times this has happened and still no help. Where the hell do us people go for help when they screw us over like this? MOney is good and so is my history. No bad credit, nothing! Yet I feel like im being treated as a lowlife.
denied a good check for no reason?
I have recently been denied twice trying to write checks at two different locations. Since the debit card was created we do not use checks at local places a lot but my debit card had been compromised and I had to order a replacement which left me with NO other way to make purchases except checks. This is a very embarrassing situation for good people with good credit and money in the bank. This will cause us in the future to not make purchases at the locations that use Certergy.

I have been recently denied two weeks trying to pay for groceries and I have always paid with a check. I am very disappointed in the services at Kroger Stores. There seems to be a lot of changes in the way to process transactions.
I have been shopping there for years and I don't have to be treated that way . I have never been denied by paying by checks before. Now since you all have this new company Certegy Check Services, Inc., I don't understand what is really happening. If that 's the way you will continue to treat your customers I will find others places to shop . I give Certegy big fat 0.
unable to write checks after 40 years of having the same account and a credit rating of 834 of
Tried to write a check Dec. 7th for $523.19 at TJMaxx. Was declined with a basket of goods after shopping for 2 hours and waiting 20 minutes in line to pay. Was embarrassed of course with all eyes on me at the check-out counter. They gave me the Certegy 800#. I called and was given a generic response of "could be routing #, could be ck #, could be ...". I have excellent credit and had a large balance in this account. Was told "that had nothing to do with it, they could not see my balance" anyway. Was told I would "be put on VIP status and though it was no guarantee my check would be accepted, it could help." Five days later had a check declined at Staples for $52. and change. Again, the common denominator was Certegy. They also "verify" checks for Staples. Invited both times to use another form of payment. Outrageous. Called again today after double checking my credit report for any irregularities and informed them my bank instructed me to demand a written explanation every time this happens as is my consumer right. Again, "this has nothing to do with you Mrs. Wallace, it is policy though we cannot tell you why your check was declined." "If you had bad credit we could tell you that." Again informed I would be "put on V.I.P. status though that was no guarantee"... blah, blah, blah. Ha. Ordered my "report" for the second time. And was invited once again by Certegy to use another form of payment. I said no. I want a paper trail for my accountant. This company arbitrarily and unashamedly causes embarrassment and makes their clients lose business. I will no longer shop at any company who uses them to decline my checks for no reason. A simple Google search shows they have a history of being fined 3.5 million dollars by the Federal Trade Commission for violating the Fair Credit Reporting Act and Furnisher Rule, the second largest fine ever recorded for a Fair Credit Reporting Act. Resolve my issue, I wish you would. I am 67 years old and have spent a lifetime in this community building a good reputation and working hard. This is humiliating and makes me leery of shopping. I will not be forced to use a credit card, or debit card for this very same account, because I want the cancelled checks. I should not have to be forced to charge, or pay cash. My check is legal tender. They should have no control over my life.
check cashing
Certegy is the worst service ever. I tried to cash a 800.00 check and was declined at 2 different locations. When I tried to contact the company to find out the reason I couldn't cash the check from a 30 year old company with a D&B rating of A+ it took almost an hour and a half to speak with a person. I ended up speaking with 2 different people taking 2 1/2 hours to receive NO results. The people that work for Certegy are very god at sticking to their script and offering NO help. DONT expect to receive any help from these people as they do not seem to care.
check cashing services/walmart money center
Walmart in prescott az would not cash my money order, which was bought and paid for 2 days prior at another walmart 5 miles away. Money orders are paid, there is no waiting for verification of funds! So they gave me a stupid receipt and told me to call the number on it to find out why, and that was all they could tell me. So i called the number, had to repeat myself over because of the stupid automated system. Only to find out that with the information provided, they could find no record of the transaction! I also went to the website askcertegy.com and put in the same information...Again, no record of transaction found! Also, can't find anything anywhere that says anything about money orders...Wtf?!?!?! And, i'm not the one who wrote the damn thing! It was bought by someone else and wrote out to me! Walmart called money gram to verify that the money order was good, and it was! They also received a confirmation code from them. I have been cashing my payroll checks and numerous money orders at walmarts for years, and now all of a sudden there's a problem and no one can tell me why! Why?!?!
Cash it at a bank.
check cashing
I have tried at least 11 time to cash a check at walmart and have been declined every time. Certegy has every reason for the reason this happens, first its the check, then they really don't know. of course its not your fault mam . well then why is this happening, it is really embarrassing, it needs to stop because soon I will get a lawyer. I have had so many declines but the latest was 8/22/2016 at walmart in Whitehall Pa.reason #2
Simple answer is to get a debit card and stop using checks. No one wants to take them anymore that is why businesses use the check verifyer services.
bad experience
same as others.. was at Wal Mart getting a few necessities and I had my paycheck with me (my new employer doesn't offer direct deposit). Figured I'd deposit it onto a money card since I was there already anyway. DENIED. Really? I'm depositing it, not trying to cash it. If it "bounces" then the funds won't be put into my account. Simple right? Not so much. Had to call CERTEGY. W hat did they tell me? They said they gave walmart the APPROVAL code to take the check for deposit, and I needed to take up the problem with walmart...hmm. hung up and called walmart who tells me they can't even see a transaction was attempted by me...? I explained what I just relayed here about my convo with CERTEGY to no avail. Once I got home I figured I'd try photo check deposit. No go there either. Instant email with the number to call CERTEGY. Catch 22. I wrote to walmart corporate and the FTC as well because CERTEGY was pushing hard for all my info, including social security number...all because I was trying to deposit my paycheck. DEPOSIT. Not cash.
I don't know. I'm just relaying what the rep at CERTEGY told me when I had to call. She said we approved it...so they couldn't do anything. It's bizarre.
There is no approval code. The check has to clear the system electronically. If it doesn't then Certegy has to clear it on their end.
check cashing services
I tried to cash my check at Walmart as I have for the past 4yrs.but have been denied on 6/3 and on 6/18 by Certegy check cashing services, Inc.I'm disabled and receive S.S.I. through a payee, the checks where for 234.00 each, I finally had to go to old point bank to cash the checks, in the long run Walmart is the loser because I had been buying all my groceries, cleaning supplies there but no more.
Blaming Walmart for Certegy declining your check is like blaming your cable company because HBO cancelled your service.
wouldn't cash my check
Went to Macy's yesterday to buy some shoes amounting to $214.43. Certegy refused to authorize my check. I have excellent credit and have never bounced a check. Have now idea why the world this would be happening.
Tried to reach to them and got a crazy automated system that basically told me what I already new and then hung up on me.
This is just crazy.
Finally got hold of someone I got a bunch of garbage that I could not understand and I am an Accountant.
Not going to Macy's anymore.
check verification
In 2005 while building my home, I wrote a check for $26, 000.00 to Home Depot for a truck load of building material. My check was declined by Certegy who was the company used by them to verify checks. No reason could be given. At the time I had over $50, 000.00 in my checking account and had never had a bad check in my life, and I had great credit. I contacted Certegy and spoke with numerous managers about the situation. No one could ever tell me why my check was declined. Over the past ten years I've had my checks declines at Home Depot, Big Lot, and many other companies who use Certegy for check verification. Most recent was by Big Lot in Tifton Georgia just three weeks ago. Again, Certegy cannot give me a reason. This is embarrassing as well as downright slanderous. I am sixty-four -years-old and have a spotless record in check writing. Why am I being targeted by this company Certegy as a "dead beat?"
won't resolve dispute with collecting unnecessary information
I had an ACH debit returned from a merchant because the merchant failed to change my billing information when I told them I had closed a bank account and instructed them to change my billing information. Fair enough, mistakes happen. The first I heard of the returned debit was a phone call from Certegy's collection division, CPS. I phoned CPS to let them...

On 3/09/2016 I tried to make a purchase at Petsmart on Mason-Montgomery Rd, Cincinnati, Oh, the store where is usually buy dog products. The total was $59.74; I wrote my check. The check was declined. Not possible; I do not have bounced checks and money in the bank and excellent credit rating. The store (I talked with 3 people there) would not call my bank. They gave me a number to call to discover why the check was declined. There was a line of people behind me; I felt humiliated. I went directly to the bank. All was well there. I was told they had not had any check on my account. I called Petsmart's manager to inform him. HE again gave me the number to call. I called Certegy ([protected]) and was on hold half an hour. I finally got a person who would not tell me why the check was declined unless I gave her all my personal information beginning with driver's License. I was willing to give her the check info but she would not comply. My Reaction: who is Certegy. The person at my senator's office was unfamiliar. I had never heard of it. I did look on internet to see who they are. What gives them the authority to decline my check without any knowledge of who I am or how much I have in the bank? There are many complaints about them . Please, government, help your citizens and investigate this business.

On 11/17/2015 AT&T wouldn't take a check for a bill said certegy said it was me that was not good after calling I was told I was VIP ..lol. BUT THEY HAD TO GATHER ALL BANKING INFO! to tell me this, I am reporting them to attn. gen office for bad business practices. And cancelling All AT&T acct. for there bad business practices...these people are really really bad.
no services
On July 8th I and my wife tried to cash our federal income tax check (Joint check) at King Soopers and was told the could not cash it and gave me a slip of pre-printed paper with the number to Certegy Check Services, Inc. As I have my own life I did not call them until July 14 2015 @ 11:45 AM MDT. After the failure of the automated system I was connected to a live person and was told that the system is being updated and I would need to call back later and see if it has completed. In all of my life I have never been lied to like this. I am IT working for over 30 years and if that had happened in my life I would be fired and a good chance that any contracted services would be ended. I would fire the CTO, COO, CFO and the CEO. Who does this company have to report to in the regulatory world? Do they even have any over site at all? Are they allowed to operate with out regard to the laws of the land. Basically I see no way to resolve any issue with this company and they have way to much power to destroy and interrupt millions of lives and can not even keep the systems up and running. I think it will become my mission to put them out of business.
I just tried to cash my income tax check at Kroger..and check was denied...called Certergy and got some BS reason saying the check is at risk...it's government issued check...they really need to be out of business..This company is an embarrassment to us people
checks declined no reason given
I sold 2 cell phones to uSell, an online recycling business. They sent me 2 checks one for each phone. I submitted them to my bank for processing and they were declined. Certegy declined to approve them but would not provide any reason why. When I called the verification phone number on the checks they were verified for the amounts and who the checks were payable to. Yet, my bank, a check cashing place and even WalMart verified the checks were correct but would not cash them because Certegy would not approve them. So uSell sold my phones and were paid for them. The checks they sent me are worthless all because Certegy is declining them based on nothing. It was verified multiple times that the money is there to cover the checks. I searched Google and was amazed to find that Certegy has a 1 star rating (very poor). I did not find one positive feedback but instead countless stories of experiences like mine. I have emailed uSell till I am blue in the face. They are sympathetic but have done nothing to give me the payment they owe me. So, they have been paid twice in affect. I have nothing no phones and no payment. I have filed a formal complaint with the New York Attorney General's consumer fraud division against uSell. I intend to do the same against Certegy.
What is really shocking to me are all the companies who use Certegy's services WalMart, American Express, Amazon just to name a few. I would encourage everyone to search the list of companies who use Certegy. Perhaps initially it saves all these members money in checks that cannot be cashed. However, Certegy's practices reflect back on these companies and it's not good. I personally feel like they are infringing on consumer rights and are not acting in good faith. uSell knows full well about Certegy and yet they still use them. Same with all the other companies. I mean if you were a national retail merchant, would you align yourself with a company who abuses consumer rights not based on facts? I have seen it mentioned on several sites about forming a class action suit against Certegy. It is long overdue and I totally support it.
So the next time you go to write a check or accept a check for payment or a refund, make sure Certegy is not involved. If they are, your outcome is questionable at best. I write one check per month. This whole experience has made me rethink ever accepting checks from companies again.
check not accepted
I wrote a check for gas at Maverik . Certegy would not except it. I have written over 5000 checks and never had one bounce. I tried to contact Certegy. I was put on hold for 30 minutes when I finally got to talk to a real person, she said our computers are down call back in one hour. The second time I called she said the computers were updating and she could not help me. What a bunch of crap. This company should be ashamed of themselves. Maverik will not get anymore business from me.
I have been shopping at Public and Winn-Dixie for the last 7 years, I have a Winn-Dixie check cashing card and I also had one at Publix until they discontinued the card. This pass week are checks were refused at both stores, no reason given. I have sufficient funds to cover these checks and hundreds more and my credit rating is well over 750. I never had any problem with my checks until Certegy got involved with these stores. I'm have been on the phone waiting to talk to some one for the last 30 minutes and no rep has answered the phone. This is a terrible company and if there is a law suite against this company count me in!
Checks from both our joint account and my wifes account were rejected by Certegy. The code for the rejection read Although no unpaid check information is on file, Certegy did not have sufficient information available to approve the transaction, or this transaction exceeded a pre-established limit. Both accounts had sufficient funds and it caused us to waste an hour having to go to the bank to obtain cash to pay for the body repair of her car.
A check was submitted to the dealer, Suburban Chrysler in Novi, and the check was rejected. The reputation of the submitter is unquestionable therefore there was no valid reason to reject the subject check. Your company is operating without credibility and should be discredited and not used as a credible source for financial determinations - period!
My check was refused. I have funds available. I got this piece of paper with a code on it. I write checks for prescriptions so I can track them for reimbursement. I don't get it. Their answer was really vague. I even offered to allow them to access my account to verify funds. The refused. Checks are the recommended method with my HSA.
I was turned down for a debit card. When I try to reach them to find out the reason, they give me a couple of options, which have nothing to do with me, then they hang up.
YOUR COMPANY AND CUSTOMER SERVICE SUCKS - I HAVE BEEN HOLDING FOR OVER 45 MIN - TOTALLY UNSATISFACTORY - WILL STOP USING THE STORE THAT HAS YOUR SERVICE.
A copay check for $65.00 was denied for purchase of prescription glasses. Checking account is used only for medical service purchases as dictated by the IRA guidelines. How can you have history of use if it is used infrequently? Certegy is out of wack!
I attempted to cash a money gram money order at my neighbor walmart and I was declined by certegy. The money order was bought at walmart but yet they would not cash it, due to me not being in certegy's system. So now what am I to do if the store it was bought at won't even accept it.
I have over 60, 000 dollars in my account, and your wonderful Company declined me for a check in the amount of 266.26! Unbelievable! Thanks Certegy
I have no money because bexcaue they said said my account number was stolen. I want to be included in the law suit.
certegy cost me $500 cash
On January 29, 2015 I paid for a $500 Moneygram money order as I have every month for the last four years at the Stuart, FL Walmart. Walmart associate Ashley misunderstood and gave me one for $400 and another for $100. Within 10 seconds, I immediately requested to exchange them for one $500 money order. I was instructed to make the money orders out to Walmart. When Ashley put it in the system, CERTEGY sent a message that they would not guarantee the checks. The three customer service managers and two assistant managers spent more than two hours trying to figure out what to do. I suggested that I sign over the checks and let one of the managers try to cash them with their information. They refused. I finally called the Stuart police and filed a report of theft. At one point, a Walmart associate put me on the phone with a representative from CERTEGY. I asked why they would not approve the checks, especially since I had never bounced a check or been accused of fraud in my life. They said it may have been because I tried to cash them too quickly. I asked them to override it and they refused. They told me that Walmart could cash them if they wanted to and they also told that to the Walmart associate. Walmart refused. CERTEGY then suggested that I take the checks to a check cashing store to see if maybe they would honor the checks that were made out to Walmart. I explained that I had no identification that would authorize me to cash a check made out to Walmart. After 2.5 hours, I finally left the store without money orders or my $500. No one at the store or Certegy offered me any kind of resolution or follow-up information. I left my contact information and no one has attempted to contact me. At one point, I asked the CERTEGY associate to transfer me to the supervisor. After a long wait, I wasted another twenty minutes attempting to explain the situation to someone that I thought was a supervisor only to find out that he was just another associate.
CERTEGY was negligent and apathetic in their response to a fiasco that they created. It was not surprising to find "! There is an alert for this business !" on bbb.org, which also does not accredit CERTEGY. In spite of the thousands of complaints, they refuse to improve their incompetent and fraudulent services.
declining my check
I wrote a check at Academy Sports in Mt Juliet, Tennessee. It went through they give me back my check and my receipts. When I was balancing my account I noticed the check had not gone through after nearly 3 weeks. I called the store and they said everything was fine with them that they had gotten their money but gave me a number of a collection agency. When I called their they said I had a returned check which I did not think was possible because our account is set up to pull from savings if nothing is in checking. Come to find out Academy Sports sent my check through on the wrong account. Since then it has been a nightmare and I am afraid to try to write a check anywhere because I do not want it declined. I have called all the numbers that I have been given and the check I wrote at Academy Sports was sent through my bank by the collection agency and cleared. I called the number where they take that off your report after it has cleared and they tell me it was taken off but my check I wrote today was declined at Pet Smart. It is very embarrassing and I am going to take legal action against Certegy. I have always had good credit rating and I don't appreciate the hassle and the inconvenience it has caused me.
