I am Nwabisa Gobile, I have opened an account with Foschini Middelburg. On the 7th of February there was a 30% exclusive online special and which I was interested in. I then made a purchase however my payment didn’t go through and I phone customer service and the customer service lady that assisted me explained to me that since my account is less than 3 months, I won’t be able to purchase online. She then advised me since the special is exclusive online then I can go to the store and buy e-voucher and use it to buy online.
I was in Cape Town, I then went to Tygervalley Foschini and bought two vouchers R5000 and R395 cause I was informed that the maximum amount to buy a voucher is R5000 and I wanted to make purchase of about R5398.5. The payment was successful and I left the store. Just as I was driving away I received a call from forensic and explained that they are suspecting a fraud on my account so they wanted me to confirm is I was the one purchasing the voucher which I confirmed that it was not a fraudulent transaction it was me. The lady said it okay.
Later when I tried to do the purchase the vouchers didn’t go through and I phoned customer service and was told my account has been blocked and the e-vouchers too.
I was traveling back to Middelburg so I couldn’t go to the store to fix this issue so I was making calls to forensic to try to resolved this matter and they failed to assist. They asked me to send bank statement and ID copy which I did however they told me they did not receive the email. It was now their knock of time and still couldn’t resolve my issue.
The online special was closing at 19:00 and I needed to do the purchase, I then phoned customer service and explained my frustration and the guy that helped me said the e-vouchers can be refunded in-store so I will have to go there for them to be refunded.
I then decided to use my credit card to purchase online since I didn’t want to miss the online 30% discount.
Now I am told that they can’t refund of reverse the e-vouchers and I won’t be able to use them as I have already used my credit to do the purchase and I won’t have the money for the installment of my Foschini account as these e-voucher are now included on my credit.
I have been calling customer service and still waiting no one is assisting me and if I don’t pay this will affect my credit scoring, kindly assist the e- voucher are not used.
I don’t think that I need to be the one punishing for this, forensic are the one that blocked my account and e-vouchers even after I have confirmed that it was me not fraudulent transaction.
