Unknown charges & billing matters
I am a senior citizen @I pay my bill on the date of each month! My name is Ms. Mabel Thomas.! I d like to know how do you get charged a reconnect fee, when your lights aren't even disconnected! and due to bill being paid every month on the due date! I had just recieved my bill today and thats when I d first became aware of this by calling Gexia over the phone immediately to question these charges! The way the male representative explained, it didn't even add up!😠 🗯 20.00 for reconnect fee plus 2.00 fee for idk what that meant! I m gonna get help to go over my bill history. Because I haven't seen this before lord jesus! My bill isn't even the correct amount as that is! That wasn't the agreed amount that my bill is supposed to average out each month! Plan Name - Simply Low 24
I have Gexa Energy plan (Simply Low 24) where Gexa credits me with $100 once I consume at least 1000k kWh. Their energy charges rates are very high and so if you don’t get $100 credit your monthly bill will be very high. To make high bill of their customer they did not fix billing cycle; some time they generate bill on 1st of the month and some time they do on 7th-8th of the month, so it become hard to manage your target consumption when they generate bill very 1st day after generating 5th-7th day of previous month bill then you have less day to complete target of 1000kwh and you loss $100 credit and bill got increase. Once they generate bill on 5th-7th day of the month after generating 1st day of previous month then your consumption shoots a lot and bill got increase. Look like they are cheating their customer. Billing cycle should be transparent; they should fix their billing cycle either based on number of days or specific day of the month.

Final billing fraudulent
According to Gexa Energy, between 12/22-12/28 my electricty usage was 928 kWh.
At over 1000k kWh, Gexa credits me with $100.
Contract ended 12/30, then I get this bill.
Consumption 12/22/22-1/3/23: 1175 kWh broken down as 783 kWh @0.131 (within contract) and 392 kWh @0.229 (rollover)
Cannot consume 928kWh (12/22-12/28), then 783kWh (12/22-12/30).
Desired outcome: Avail daily usage data--will show consumption was over 1000kWh by 12/30. Hence due for $100 credit. 783/392 is doctored. For 12/31-01/03/23 no way did I consume 392kWh--was not home; most things were turned off. Rebill this usage correctly.

I signed up in May. Was promised one rate but billed another. When they contacted me in October they claimed the new rate would be lower. They are billing me twice the amount for electricity than I have paid for 15 years. I have checked the kwh and usage, which is the same or lower, but I am still being billed more. I have also been billed late fees and disconnect fees even though I had made my payments. I this is price gouging. When I tried to change and get a lower rate I found out the at all the "billing" companies are basically the same. There is no real competition. Gexa's practices are deceptive and dishonest.

Gexa residential service
So my usage during the day even when i’m not home is absolutely insane. It started out with txu reading my meter in which I received a bill that was $361 for two months. I was assured by a representative that there would be no bill and txu would be handling that bill due to their negligence. That never happened they took $10 off and make me pay the rest after a recorded call proved otherwise. Tell me how after I resigned with gexa suddenly i’m paying $427 in a month! My bills for two months were less. My unit is always in 75 I never touch it and i’m working 24/7 yet next month is projected to be higher than this month. I obviously know bills will be higher in winter but this is ridiculous because when I called and asked they said it spiked on a specific day and it has not gone down since. If I hire an electrician beginning of the month and end of the month i’m most definitely suing for all the money I paid back. I’d rather buy out my 4 month in plan than stay with this shady company. Please watch out and do not sign with them!
Desired outcome: I would like to have someone reach out from the company who isn’t just a “customer service rep” because I’m tired of being wronged by this company and I don’t mind taking it further if needed.
Electricity Bill
I renewed with Gexa in June of 2022. Fast forward to September I called them to ask a question about my bill. They tell me my account was closed. I’m confused at this point because I did not close my account. They then tell me it was closed out and transferred to another company. I call center point to see who closed out my account. It was my apartment complex. Gexa said they will do a 30 day investigation to get my account back. I call then after the 30 days 10/17/22 because no one has called me. They told me they got my account back on 10/14. Then I get hit with a bill for 473 dollars! Like how could I have used up that much electricity since October 14th? I will NOT be paying this bill. They are trying to rip me off!

Early termination fees
I started new service for a business in July 2022, In August I received a bill of 1200 + 700 some "additional charges", same thing happed in August, I called them , no response. Then I canceled the service and I received a early termination fee of $11364.00 ( yes Eleven Thousand)
I called them thinking its a mistake , they were justifying the charges, no one in billing can help.

Incorrect reading of meter and incorrect fix price per kwh when under contract
My contract price is fixed but, will have a discount if below 2000 kWh. So, during Labor Day I was out of town from Sat early am and didn’t return home until late on Monday. Somehow my bill that month was similar to previous month. I will always get a few kWh above 2000….like 2010 and 2022. Only my first month was below because you can cancel without penalties within the first 3 days. Also, under fix plan my rate should match the amount set by the terms of the plan…however they will write in * small print a higher rate by about 7 cents per kWh and said allow by law? Really?…Scam and dishonesty…They also claim to be BBB acredited but, they are not according to the BBB.
Desired outcome: Cancel account without early termination penalties. I am not even going to dispute previous overate and incorrect billing.
BEWARE No notice that contract was up, told us higher rates were a billing error and now stuck with high rates
We noticed that we had about ~$550 extra dollars showing on our bill. In June, my husband and I expected cost to go up as we were using the AC more. However, this didn't look right. Upon calling, we were told it was a billing glitch and they were working to fix the error. Then we received a cut off notice, called back, got the same answer BUT this time the rep said we had to pay the almost $600 so that they could then reverse it and it would "wipe out" the error. We did that, than it showed up again and again another shut off notice. (this has been going on for 2 months). We called AGAIN, to sit on the line for a very long time for them to then tell us that our plan had expired and this was the new rate and we had to pay... our bill was more than $1,300 now at that point. We were given NO notice and learned that new customers were getting a rate at .13 vs our now .21. Previously it was .06. Hell of an increase.. that we were tricked into and not given an option to renew or use another provider. They do NOT bring affordable electricity plans...
Desired outcome: To honor our old rate for the past 2 bills since we were given no notice, and give us the opportunity to then renew once paid.

I signed up for your Gexa Saver 24 expecting a rate close to 13.8c kWh. I live in a 3500 sq house. After I got a $595 bill I did a deep dive into the plan. Based on my calculations my actual average rate is going to be 19.7c kWh. The way in which Gexa advertises their plan is at best misleading, at worst it is a scam plan. Then once you realize you are getting ripped off and switch then they get you for another 268.00 early termination. Gexa is a scam company charging one of the highest rates out there. You would be stupid to do business with them. I was and learned the hard way.
Desired outcome: waive the termination fee and I will pay your scam rates
I have the same problem and question also the accuracy of the reading at the meter…I sign up for a certain fix rate plan but, the price is closer to 20 cents writing in small print that is the allowed increase. How can a fix plan during the plan terms can have an increase of 7-8 cents more per kWh? Why signed fix rate when I’m getting charge higher? My monthly rate range in the mid $400 now. My plan include discount if my usage is below 2000kw per month. Somehow my months are always slightly above 2000 like 2010 or 2022. I was absent from home for 3 days during the Labor Day weekend and my bill still range slightly above 2000kw. I looking into canceling my plan early and switch. It is cheaper in the long run instead of dealing with dishonest company. They claimed that they are BBB certified but, the BBB said they are not…Very disappointing in this time of inflation.
Electricity provider for my residence. Renewed my contract with Gexa for 10.9 cents per 1.000 kwh
Two representatives from Gexa told me that my contract for 10.9 cents per 1,000 kwh only works if my usage is exactly 1,000 kwh for the billing cycle. Consequently, anything lower or higher will be at a rate of 16.62 cents for the total usage.
This is false advertising as it is impossible to have the exact amount of usage of 1,000 kwh for the billing cycle. This was not clearly communicated at the time of renewal. Very deceptive marketing practice.
Desired outcome: To charge my first 1,000 kwh with the 10.9 rate, and then anything higher could be the 16.62 rate. Or, release me from the penalty to cancel my contract.
Scamming customers
Please do not use Gexa as a light company! I have cried. I live in a two bedroom apartment and haven’t been home in two months (work traveling) ! I get a bill of $400 ! Everything was turned off when I left A/C turned up high and still they are asking for $400! I asked them to end my contract because there is no way this is possible the rep was so rude to me and stated we can not do that our system is down then hung up in my face!
Incorrect billing -doubled my kwh usage on units billed
Tried calling, got an overseas person who acts like its their first day. Horrible! Couldn't understand simple math. I am on the suburb saver 24 and this is my 2nd full bill they doubled my actual kwh usage then multiply it x 2. I have a multi of 1. Never in my life have I had a 700 power bill. Also, my rate was a flat 11.4 per 2k. Not according to this bill I am paying 13.2. Requested a supervisor for a call back, we shall see. This is fraud.

I contacted Gexa while I was out of town and my energy usage was through the roof despite leaving the AC at 85, unplugging the fridge and not using any appliances.
They initiated a billing dispute with AEP central. That’s fine. They told me to pay the amount I’m not disputing so I estimated half and paid that. (It was probably still too much).
A few days later my neighbour phoned to say AEP had come by. AEP had mixed my line with his, so I’ve been paying for his usage and he for mine.
Fine.
A week and a half later Gexa is still showing me sky high usage. I asked for confirmation that they would not report me to the credit bureau for not paying the balance while the amount was still disputed, per PUC regulations. They would not give me that confirmation. Instead, they finally said it was due 08/01 instead of 07/15. They quoted me the amount remaining.
The next day I get a bill for the entire amount again, despite already having paid half.
And they still haven’t dealt with the AEP issue. I am owed a huge credit.
I’m furious.
This company is awful. Do not sign up with them.
Desired outcome: Sort it out with AEP and credit my account
Update:
They have sorted it with AEP. However the credit is being applied against the other half of the June balance and says “past due.” Given that that balance was incorrect and I had paid half of it, I shouldn’t have a balance at all — probably even more of a credit, if only a few dollars more.
Still need to resolve that amount.
Dishonest, Inept, and It's Intentional
Liars and Charlatans from the word GO! Their FIXED RATES are NOT FIXED! It changes with usage. Every agent that answers has an IQ of about 80, and aren't trained to answer the phone or do anything on behalf of this company. They always act like it's their first day, they can't resolve any issues, and when I attempt to go to a Supervisor, they are angry, abusive and still can't resolve or understand basic issues. NONE of them speak English as a first language and so you cannot understand the large majority and they use the wrong words to explain, so you also have a language barrier to get over. I haven't been able to login to the website from the desktop using ANY of the top 6 browsers, including Google, Edge, Firefox, or any others since I became a customer 3 months ago. Trying to reach a supervisor is impossible! THEY ARE NOT SERVICING CUSTOMER COMPLAINTS AND NOT HONORING THEIR CONTRACT! I AM GETTING LEGAL ASSISTANCE NOW!

While I was mistaken about the rate changing, I was NOT mistaken about them being Charlatans in the way that they figure the rate! I am QUITE CERTAIN Gexa Energy is headed for a Class Action Lawsuit from the nefarious and iniquitous way in which they conduct business! This plan isn't well explained when you sign up. Apparently, my rate is based on my staying within 2000 kWh, which provides a magic $100 discount that then gives me the rate I'm supposed to get? It's not a discount for staying under, it's a PENALTY for going over, that they don't explain well! My rate appeared to more than double as my bill went from $193 for 1400 kWh, to $418 for 2193 kWh when temps reached over 100 for many days. This is only a 50% increase and more than double the price! While the Supervisor I finally reached was very helpful and understandable, the 1st one ever, they are still crooks and are cheating people in the way they don't disclose what they are doing. I thought I was getting a flat, fixed rate, and I'm not! This place and the people that operate it are CORRUPT TO THE CORE!
Please know this is the exact situation I’m in and I would love to start a petition against this company at any point. (:

I have been with Gexa for two billing cycles and I would not recommend them. customer service is horrible. You must be calling some where over seas and nobody talks any English. No body calls you back, nobody knows how to file a complaint with the electric company. they blame the problem on the electric provider and the provider blames it on Gexa. if you look Gexa complaints up you will see most of the complaints are the same basically. in my case last months bill was $323.43 but this month's bill was $662.65 with over 1150 KWH usage more being used than last months bill usage. I say no way the provider changed the meter out with a smart meter but it did not start out with the old number nor did it start out with zero's or blank to make sur ether was no usage. I will file complaints with the Texas electric commission. Now I say nothing has changed the temp. for A/C has remained the same set point. It would vary some what but not that much. these guys are ripping off the public so what can you do. this deregulation sucks it seems that all the company's are owned by the same company's just different names. what a state scam

Electricity jumped from 800 kwh t0 2400 kwh in 2 months
It is impossible to find any link or information on disputing a bill with gexa. I have apparently jumped from 800kwh to 2400 kwh in 2 months, despite nothing changing besides them temp outside by average 5 degrees. Every single year the last 3 years, it jumps crazy, an I fully believe they are throttling or manipulating usages, especially after reading so many other complaints. I am floored. My house is not big an I am not home during the evening so my ac is not running full blast. I do not watch tv but maybe an hour a day. No appliances running out of control. I have also discovered in my search for answers they chathe me a disconnect notice every single month whether late or not. This bill is the final straw. They have also charged me a disconnect and reconnect fee when im not even past my date. I am done and paying the $150 contract cancelation if I am not provided with bill credit or waived fees. I have contacted my tdu provider for a meter check just to be sure, I was told it would show as a $50 charge. They have not assesd my meter I know for a fact because I 1. Requested notification so I could witness and 2. I have dogs. 4. I know they didnt check without me being present.
