My friends and I booked a trip to Las Vegas/Miami through Mr Pillai at the end of April 2014. Total number of individuals were 7 and a total of R210, 000 was paid via EFTs to Mr Pillai by the middle of June 2014. Our departure date was to be on the 17th August 2014.

On the 11th August 2014, Mr Pillai phoned me to say that we need to postpone our trip as Delta Airlines will be grounding all flights during our travel dates due to maintenance. This was proven to be false after phoning Delta Airlines Johannesburg. We were also shocked to find out from Delta airlines that our ticket ref numbers do not exist.

We spoke to Mr Pillai who said that he will sort it out.

On the 12th August 2014, Mr Pillai informs me that GTA Travels has 'messed up our flight booking'. Apparently the operator booked the wrong class and if we still wanted to fly on the 17th August 2014, we would have to pay an extra R14 000 each as GTA Travel were not prepared to pay the extra R98 000. I have all this on email, and he also stated we may rebook the trip anytime from the 1st September 2014, that being valid for a year.

Upset and frustrated with Mr Pillai's excuses, we each emailed a cancelation of trip letter to him on the 13th August 2014.

He responded with an email stating that we will have a full refund within 7 working days.

After two weeks, 29th August 2014, we were paid R70, 000 for the refund on accomadation, however, we still are owed R140, 000 for our air tickets.

Mr Pillai claims that GTA Travels usually take 4-6 weeks to refund air tickets, but I have discovered from Delta Airlines and GTA SA that the tickets were never issued and cancelled way before departure date. I have email confirmation of this. The reference numbers do not exist and the flight number is that of an Iraqi airline which has no affiliation to Dela airlines. Delta informed me that the itinary was issued by Best Buy Travel and Tours in Durban (+[protected]) and after speaking to the manager, it was confirmed that Mr Pillai had asked them for an itinary/reservation but it was never booked, nor money paid, so it was ultimately cancelled. The itinary which I forwarded to them was also not the itinary Best Buy had sent to Mr Pillai. According to them, there were numbers and references that were changed/edited and then sent to us.

Mr Pillai has not booked any airline ticket but refuses to pay us back our R140, 000.

I have found out that he is not registered with ASATA

I also have an email correspondence with Mr Pillai dated 09/09/2014, where Mr Pillai states he will use money from other clients traveling later to pay some of our money.

Please help me in any way that you can.

Mr Pillai continues to give excuses with regard to the refund and I'm really at my wits end.

I have email correspondence with GTA SA, Delta airlines and Mr Pillai.

Pravesh Pillai just had his car removed from him till he paid another dissatisfied customer R100, 000. I truly suggest that none of yourl book a trip with him as he is stealing from Peter to pay Paul.

My group of friends are still owed R60, 000. Handed it over to Jay Reddy and attorneys.

Family have previously travelled with Mr Pillai and holidays have gone splendid. It's sad how this trip became so sour with Mr Pillai exposing himself for the trash that he is.

My family also previously booked with Pravesh Pillai and this is the reason why I'm so outraged. He is still owing our group R60, 000. However, Mr Pillai has avoided all contact with me. Our group has handed over this issue to Jay Reddy and attorneys.

I was also made aware of Mr Pillai's car being taken away from him a week or so back, by another disgruntled client from Montclair who was owed R100, 000.

Mr Pillai seems is the filth of our country and is now stealing from Peter to pay Paul.

Ok, if anyone can give me Mr Pillai's cell number, that would be great.

Up to this point, he owes our group R60, 000.
Just to remind yourl, our trip had been paid in full 2 months before departure, and 1 week before departure, Mr Pillai phones to say our trip had to be cancelled because Delta is doing maintenance. An absolute lie, as we then phoned Delta airlines who said that this is not true and then surprised us when they told us that the ref numbers given to us did not exist on their system. Mr Pillai is terrible person and will have what's coming to him.
If anyone requires documented proof of Mr Pillai's lies, I can gladly forward it to them. I even have an email where Mr Pillai tells me that he will transfer money coming in from other clients to pay our group.
My email is kumiemoodley@yahoo.com.
I will gladly show you the proof.
At the moment we are filing our suite with Jay Reddy attorneys.

Once again, this is more a warning to other future clients of his.
I'm a medical specialist and just appalled by the way Mr Pillai has treated our group esp since him and I were friends.

His behaviour and actions are disgusting.

I'm glad to find out he's still in business, more of a chance to get paid. Iv seen him two weeks ago, spoke to him quiet loudly, with his response being :" I left global holidays, not working for them anymore".

My email is kumiemoodley@yahoo.com.
If someone can forward me his contact number and address that he's operating from, it would be much appreciated.
I can also forward you emails from Pravesh Pillai as most of the comments on this board make me out to be someone just looking for easy money. But my unfortunate transaction with Pravesh Pillai is simple : I booked a trip, he took my money, HE
didn't book and kept my money.
How am I wrong?
Further question - how many more people will he do this to?

So please, any help with his work address will be appreciated.

Good day.
IV just received an email from another disgruntled client of Pravesh who read my story through the complaints board. Making in total, 3 families, which he has withheld money from.

If there are any other people who have money outstanding from Pravesh, email me on kumiemoodley@yahoo.com, as I'm planning to take this to media now that there's so many other people that he's swindled money from.

Any little help will be appreciated.

Thank you.

Ok Jonathan. Here's my email, kumiemoodley@yahoo.com, IL show you proof of the ### that Pravesh is.
Trust me, book with someone else next time, it's just a matter of time before you have an unfortunate incident with Pravesh.

Give me Praveshs contact details. Or ask him to give me a person that I can contact at global holidays.

Why is he avoiding this?
Why does the buck stop with him?
If he's not working for global holidays and we did book with them, why isn't he helping us to get the monies back?

You really don't have to be a high school graduate to figure this one out guys?

Mr Naidoo, WE didn't cancel our trip, Global Holidays cancelled our trip. We paid in full three months prior to departure. And after our trip was cancelled due to pathetic reasons on the part of Global, we were promised a full refund.

WHY IS THIS SO DIFFICULT TO COMPREHEND

I dont agree with Kumaran, you say his car is gone when it is not his motor car that is a false thing to say on the net i am a old gentlemen, no one is allowed to take possession of a car unless its theft unless you stole it .If i owe you money and you take my car that is wrong let the police force and the law decide who is right .Ownership will always go back to the true owner utter nonsense from Km Kisten .

I totally agree with Kumaran. This happened to my husband and i as well. Pravesh, royally messed up our honeymoon and is still oweing us money. He is a fraud on every level. There is no other side to someone taking your money and avoiding any contact with you. Like Kumaran, we contacted the airlines and got the same feedback, quotations and flight details and so forth do not match their system. He has been stalling us for so many months, and keep making us like fools, and saying he will pay us tomorrow, i dont know how many tomorrows have gone by. To those that had good experiences with him, you guys are rather fotunate, sadly though, we vistims do exist and its a damn struggle getting our monies back. It frustrating seeing someone rob people this way and living life large, being seeing on Florida Road spalahing out, yet stealing from honest people. Our fault was trusting him, but little did we know that people like him will knock on our door. I hope we are able to get our monies back.

I think global needs to explain I checked pravesh is not the owner nor a director so why we all blaming him did you pay him personally in his bank account I guess not .Something has transpired and I think why so many people just on this page had good experiences something does not make sense here I travelled last year Dec and had no issues. All this to me does not make any sense. I heard he does a little travel via global and not much into it now.Its very unfair to blast out at someone without knowing proper facts that's my opinion.

Jonathan Reddy

Hi Kummi,
I studied the comments sent to you, the agent was helping you as he was awaiting funds from Matthew as its a refund he just out laid funds to you as that's how it seems on agents email. You wanted refund asap as refunds do take long and also being last minute cancellations what your group lost out is 60k out of 210k as last minute as least you ok you got back 150k of 210k .If he didn't want to refund you would have got back nothing so I don't think its all Mr Pillai fault.
The other 3 people am sure got there monies back travel agents in general don't give back fill refunds as their is work put in for a clients booking like mine or yours I am also sure Delz got their money back and maybe a small portion maybe owed on fees that's normal.
And from reading this Kummi says Mr Pillai car has been taken away why put comments like that when he has his car and no 100k owed to a person in Montclair that is false you seem to be running him down.
My personal opinion don't believe everything you read about on the net.

Pravesh is no longer in Durban he works for a company in jnb I heard he went through a bad patch and like anyone can have problems in any business We all could go through it as well in this day and age things are tough out there. I know him for years he is not a bad person it's due to current times he has being in business for many years now we all had great experiences and from what I can see in this blog mostly friends lost out with funds. There is no global anymore. Let's move on guys Sai ram

Hi Kumaran,
Its unfortunate thou I cannot say anything more I believe in karma what goes around comes around but after chatting to him last week he is going to settle everyone things took a wrong turn in his life I know him for years he will not do this to anyone including his friends/clients people go through this in ones life we need to let him get back on his feet to get this settled that's what I believe there is always a way forward .
Just hang in there he is a good guy he will pay .The god is above lets prey for him so that he does well and sorts out his life and the people who are affected by being negative we get no where.
Sai Ram.
