GM Financial Over payment on a gm financial lease

On December 5, 2017, I mistakenly made an over payment on my automobile lease loan through GM Financial. My account number was [protected] which has since been paid off. From December to July, I have made 10 telephone calls, spoken to at least 10 different customer service representatives and had my bank fax a copy of my over payment.
All to no avail. It is my opinion and that of my bank that during their "computer system enhancement", GM Financial lost my payment to the tune of $251.00.
Do I have any recourse?
Thank You!

GM Financial Unethical behavior

On Thursday, June 21, 2018 I called in to make a payment as I did. I called a few months ago to ask GM for an extension due to my mother passing away. I explained all of this to a customer service rep when I called in back in February 2018, the extension was granted and I had to make my next payment in May, which I forgot, I apologizes numerous times, that I forgot dealing with all I have with my mother's death. The customer services rep informed me that they was going to repo my car, which turned out it was not true. Anyway, I made the payment and asked her are they still going to repo my car since I made the payment? because if so, I'm going to be pissed, that's when the customer service rep said" well if you made your payment on time then you wouldn't have to worry about it and that's the reality of this situation" I said to the customer service rep that's not a way to talk to a customer especially if the customer just lost their parent and she said again " it's reality and became more nasty towards me" I called back to speak to a manager and of course no one called me back. Today, I check my credit score and the two mouths I asked for an extension is now on my credit as if I made a missed payment and I didn't, that's the point of an extension so the negative do not show on your credit report. I truly feel no one has called me back due to the natural of the incident and due to the color of my skin, this is so sad this day in age.

I am getting so sick and tired of reading about people of color blaming everything that happens to them on the color of their skin. all that proves is how raceist the posters are. this was a problem with a credit card company.to them all you are is an account number and the amount of money owed, they have no idea what your race is so grow up stop blaming other people for your actions .

GM Financial vehicle disposition fee

Leased a 2016 Cadillac ATS and when the lease ended, I turned the vehicle in at another Cadillac dealer closer to my home. The vehicle was in immaculate condition (GM Financial had AutoVin inspect the vehicle and they determined that the vehicle need $0 dollars to for repairs...only 2700 miles after 2 years, no nicks, dings, etc.). In fact, the dealer actually kept the vehicle themselves and it was on their lot for sale within a week. GM Financial charges a "disposition fee, " which is understandable if the vehicle has nicks & dings that need to be repaired and has to go through the auction process. None of this applied to my vehicle, as the dealer simply changed the oil and performed a $99 "detailing" on the vehicle. GM Financial has the contractual right to charge the full "disposition fee, " however, as this vehicle had virtually no expenses associated with my turning it in and preparing it for sale (no transportation to auction, no mechanical or body work, etc.), I asked GM Financial to waive the $595 "disposition fee" due to the excellent condition of the vehicle and the fact that I was intending to lease a new Cadillac XT4 when one became available. I worked for GM for over 35 years and had driven GM vehicles exclusively for over 45 years. When presented with the facts, GM Financial simply stated that "if we were to not charge you, we'd have to do that for everyone, " which is not true. In fact, I had another 2016 GM vehicle that I returned to this same dealer roughly a month earlier, and although the "disposition fee" was written into the contract, GM Financial waived the fee (no, I did not lease another vehicle, either). Why they would charge me for a vehicle that required virtually zero money to prepare for resale (only work performed was an oil change and wash/wax) is simply unfair. The vehicle didn't go to auction or have body/mechanical work performed on it. It didn't even leave the dealer's lot. Sure, the "disposition fee" is in the contract, but they also have lease contracts that read "$XX dollars, OR LESS" as the "disposition fee." This could not have been more simple. The dealer loved the car so much that GM Financial simply had to prepare new paperwork...they did not have to allocate a single penny towards an auction, transportation or repairs, yet they chose to still charge me a "disposition fee." I am now rethinking my lease on the XT4, and would like to have GM Financial return the balance of the "disposition fee" that they charged me.

Update...On my second attempt to appeal the "disposition fee" charge, GM Financial did reduce the figure owed to $400, which, according to numerous websites, is still high for a "disposition fee."
I am still asking for the full amount to be reimbursed.

I've leased cars for over 10 years. The disposition fee is nothing new, for GM or any other company. They just don't EMPHASIZE it when signing the lease, because you do that with the dealership. The disposition fee is charged by the finance company. If you lease with the dealership again, the DEALERSHIP takes care of the disposition fee because you're bringing them business again. My cars are always turned in with no excess wear and tear, immaculate condition, and I always get charged the fee. It is expected. It will only get waived if I trade it in for another car at that dealership. That makes sense. It's in the contract from the beginning. As for marks on the rim from parallel parking, that's not normal for everyone. My rims are fine. My parents on the other hand, all jacked up. Get your complimentary pre-inspection before turning in your car and you will know what will count as EXCESS wear and tear. That's what that service is there for.

I agree with the others listed here. I turned in an immaculate condition GMC Sierra Denali. Dealer didn’t have to do squat for detailing as it was in pristine condition. Dealership kept the vehicle and it was resold within 9 days off their lot from my drop off date. Approx. 3 weeks later I get a disposition fee bill in the mail. $495 disposition fee plus $28 in taxes ($523 total) The dealership NEVER told me about this and while I’m contractually obligated to pay, so help me God it will be the last GM vehicle my family will own. I’m disgusted with the gouging and certainly have other options. I’m just amazed how short sighted GM is at their customer relations.

We recently returned a 2015 Malibu to our Chevy dealer with no problems and just received the bill for the disposition fee. Nobody at GM or the dealer informed us of the fee; though, I was told by GM Financial that it is part of the lease agreement. I received at least a half dozen documents from GM prior to lease termination with information on how to turn in the vehicle. None of these documents mention the disposition fee. After discussing the matter at length with GM Financial and sensing no possibility of getting the fee waived or reduced, I concluded the best option was to not pay the bill. There may be a small ding on my credit but not too worried about it. As for GM, it is no wonder their business continues to struggle.

I am dealing with the same issue. In addition to the $495 fees, they are also charing me $170 for "excess wear and tear", which consists of 1 tiny scratch on 2 of the rims (a very common thing that happens when you parallel park. Go to any parking lot and look at the tires on the cars there and you'll see the very same thing on every car out there. I't s NORMAL wear and tear. I also turned my truck in with almost $2000 in upgrades to boot (exhaust and pipes, exterior upgrades).

Disposition fee - I agree with others, this is not presented to the customer in an acceptable manner at the time of sale, and is shady to be charges. It's a hug slap in the face when it's left way under the radar until you turn the vehicle back in.

I'm with a lot of other folks out there - will NEVER lease or buy from GM again. Very poor customer treatment and unethical business practices.

I had the same experience with a recently returned lease. After searching the web, it appears to be a very common complaint, so we are not alone. GM charged me $395 disposition fee plus taxes for turning in my vehicle. It was not clearly explained to me at time of lease. GM should straighten this out with their dealers. It is costing them future customers! I am clearly never going to lease, or buy from GM again!

I just received my bill regarding a disposition fee from my turned in lease. I had no idea I was going to have this additional bill! When I called they told me it was part of my contract that I would have a disposition fee if I didn’t lease again or buy a vehicle. My fee was $395 plus state taxes! I think this is a horrible practice for GM Financial! They also said there’s nothing I can do about it unless I can convince the dealership to pay it. Now, since I didn’t lease again or purchase another vehicle, why would they do that? Mine also was a 4 cylinder Equinox. I will never lease again!

We also had to pay more than a $400 disposition fee. We had a 4 cylinder Equinox not an awesome Cadillac like another customer on here had who had to pay about the same.

It is my understanding that the disposition fee has absolutely nothing to do with the condition or mileage on the vehicle upon turning it in. This fee is charged if you do not purchase the vehicle or lease another vehicle because if it sits on their lot as an unsold vehicle for a month or 2 they consider that a lost sale and the fee makes up for that somehow or at least they feel justified in charging that amount. If you drive a car only 2700 miles at an average cost of $5 dollars per mile over a 2 year period for a lease that probably cost $10, 800 over 2 years use this doesn't seem like a person who would be worried about the $500 fee upon turn in. You could buy a beautiful used vehicle for the cost of the 2 year lease and drive it for 10 years and save a ton in payments and even insurance. If you lease, use the mileage allotted because saving up miles will not win you any brownie points upon turn in with GM Financial or the dealership. You are just putting more money in their pockets from another buyer who will appreciate the low mileage.

GM Financial customer service - cannot get them to release second lien which is 4 years old

I have been trying to get a 2nd lien released for years/weeks. It was originally released in 2014 and multiple letters have been mailed and faxed to these people with no resolve. I have spent countless hours of my time on the phone only to get the runaround and wrong information and "we are having system issues so I cannot help you right now." In the last 3 weeks I have called almost everyday trying to get this resolved. The first time I was told that no mailed copy of lien release had been received even though it had been mailed over 2 weeks prior. Then was told I could fax it in which I did. She said 24-48 for response on faxes. Waited 3 days and called back...nothing! Was transferred to the title department only to find out they are a third party not part of GM and was told GM had to do it on their end and then send it to them. Called right back to CS and demanded a supervisor who after 30 minutes of holding told me I had to fax it to the title admin department and it would take 3-5 business days. Hmmmm who do you think is telling the truth? or does anyone at GM even know what the truth is? Where do the documents go that are sent to them by various agencies on people's automobile loans? Black hole I can only assume.

Do not support this horrific company. Finance through your bank or another lender. They do not deserve anyone's business. They are incompetent and lack the most basic of customer service and support. Funny thing is, I am trying to get the lien released so I can buy a new car and give my son the current auto as his got wrecked. Sorry GM you won't get my business EVER again!

GM Financial total loss/lease

I have a vehicle that was totaled in december 2017. My insurance company paid their portion in january 2018. It is now 6 months later and I am still fighting with gm about my gap insurance. Every time I call they are rude, curt and have no idea what is going on. They never return my phone calls. They send me bills and when I call no one has any idea what the payment is for. I just got off the phone again and they have no idea why the gap insurance has not paid.
I am trying to close on a house. This is still on my credit and debt owed and I need it off so I can close! Worst customer service, worst company I have ever dealt with. 6 months later! This is unacceptable! Today I received a bill for the total amount gap owes and again no one at gm knows why!

GM Financial erroneous claim that a lease payment was late

We traded in our leased 2014 Equinox, in March 2017, (the 3 year lease would be done in August); when we received an offer from Gettel Auto Dealer in Punta Gorda FL, to re-lease another car, a 2017 Terrain. The account # [protected], for $370.55 a month. We paid them at the Dealership the 1st payment, as above, then we got a notice a few weeks later that we had a 'credit', which be equal to 6 months payments? I questioned this per phone at GM Fin. I kept calling the N.Y. Office and Gettel to straighten this out. In the mean time, I made two more payments on time. Then...we got per mail a notice that we had missed 2 payments...DUH? I made more calls, we even had a 3-way conference call to get this corrected...so while waiting for a 'correct' statement to come; we found out that someone (?) put the WRONG ACCOUNT ' number on the check we paid. They (?) credited this payment to the 2014 Equinox account; NOT TO THE NEW LEASE OF 2017 Terrain.
THEN we get a notice from the credit bureau that our Credit Score dropped over a 100 points 'cause of this snafu, from 744 to 608. After 6 months I'm trying get score back up, now at 644. We have been married 54 years and HAVE GOOD CREDIT...NO MISSED PAYMENTS ON ANYTHING. I have spent hours on the phone and sent them ALL the copies of the paper work to the N.Y. and the TX offices >>>>>>>>NO REPLY. WE ARE DISGUSTED. WE hope finally you can help us get GM Financial to alert the Credit Card Bureaus to correct their mistake. Many Thanks, Harm & Luanne Scholten, Port Charlotte FL 33981. I have a similar issue with GM Financial costing me 100 pts on my, heretofore, perfect credit score . I bought out my lease a month early ; using the company GM directed me to. Even after repeatedly asking that the payoff be sent before the next payment due date - and being assured it would, I only found out it didn't make it until I saw my credit report ! Needless to say, I am furious ! It's the only thing on my entire report that has a late notation . If you found out how to make GM fix your credit report, I sure would like to know !

GM Financial Terrible Customer Service!!!

We just leased 2 new autos in September, and then we moved to a different state in December. I found out that in Nebraska your payment includes sales tax, but in Iowa I had to pay the sales tax up front and no longer needed to pay it monthly. Knowing that we were moving, and being a proactive person, I started inquiring with GM financial the end of October beginning of November to find out the process of getting the vehicles switched to the new state and to stop the sales tax. Every single phone call I was given a different answer, and have now found out none of them were correct. What a huge inconvenience and horrible customer service. I have previously leased with other companies and have never had any issues. Researching on line about them, it appears that others have similar complaints. I will never do business with them again, and I will make anyone I know aware of how poor the customer service was.

GM Financial Horrendous bank

I purchased a 2011 jeep patriot at corry chrysler jeep dodge in corry pa on january 20 2012. I traded in a 2008 dodge durango that i was about $3500 upside down on. My monthly payments to americredit was $511. 55 a month, i made one payment too them. Even before the first payment i called them to get my account number so i could set up my online account. They treated me like ###, acted like i was wasting there precious time. Our credit wasn't that bad in the first place and i couldn't figure out why we were paying 16% interest. I decided to try to refinance the patriot and got a loan through capital one auto finance at 8% interest! Our payments went from $511. 55 to $424. 12 a month for the same term. That isn't the end of it, capital one sent the check on february 18 2012 and americredit didn't cash it until the end of february and they somehow figured out how to charge me an additional $210. Stay away from americredit! I would expect better service from jd byrider. I've had no problems with capital one auto finance.

Hi I bought Ford Edge back in 2011 paying 560$ a month never missed one payment I was hoping to make a deal and pay it off from my tax return and every time I call Gm financial they won't work with me they won't negotiate my 24% interest rate they're claiming I have to pay all that that's not how they work and actually quote always more then my current payoff amount my payoff doesn't move any down and they're collecting my money . I honestly think that this company should be checked out for frauds and ripping off people like me for years . I just want to payoff my car and be payment free so I can move on from these killer company payments . I'm ready to go see a lawyer because that's how much I'm sick from them !

I am having so many issues with GM Financial. They are charging me a ridiculous amount in interest. I have been paying on the car since 2011. I still owe $8, 650. That's my payoff right now. My payments are $400/mo. and they quoted my payoff at $9, 000 about 6 months ago. So how is it I still owe almost the same amount when I've been making $400 payments for months?! I was hoping to use my bonus from work and my tax returns to negotiate a deal with them and let me pay it off. However, I keep getting told that they don't negotiate anything. I have to pay what their quoting my payoff amount at. I have asked to speak to managers, I get put on hold, I get voicemails, and no return calls. I have already paid WAY more than the car was even purchased for and WAY, WAY MORE than it's worth! Has anybody negotiated a smaller amount to pay their car off before? I'm just wondering if it is possible and they just don't want to say it.

I bought my car in 2004. I moved to WV in 2006 for one year but moved back to California in 2007. Unfortunately my car was still under a lien. California DMV issued me a registration under something that says we don't know who owns the car even thought it was still under Bayview Acceptance/AmeriCredit now GM Financial. When I paid the car off in 2011 they did not send me my Title. They sent a letter of congratulations, but no title. I called them when I continued to see their name on my car registration. (I've bought a car before and received my title when I paid it off and the DMV removed the lien holder's name from my registration) I've moved to Oregon and cannot register my car without my title. I've called CA DMV who claims they never received the title from GM. GM gives me the runaround by sending me to the getmycartitle.com web site. A scam to get your money. I had to purchase a release of lien letter first, which does me not good when CA DMV says they don't have my title. When I tried to get the duplicate title form their website, I couldn't. Tell me my why GM Financial tells you to go to that web site when it tells you it cannot issue a title for a retail account? I've heard that when Bayview Acceptance/AmeriCredit merged with GM Financial in 2010 that they lost a lot of peoples financial information. Remember they were part of the bail out where those companies used that money for their own purposes but not ours. So they lost my information but will not take responsibility and remake a title for me. Because of them I will no longer be able to drive a perfectly good car. I am angry and seeking some legal counsel.

GM Financial is the worst lender ever! They have the worst customer service. I paid off my car and weeks later I still have yet to receive my title. When I was a day late on a payment, I would receive hundreds of calls from them. In that fashion I will contact them every day until I receive my title. They have inconvenienced my greatly. I ask them the same question and get a different answer every time. I had an online account set up to make payments, after a while the site would not allow me to login to make payments. Take heed to this warning, NEVER IN YOUR LIFE GET A CAR FINANCED THROUGH GM FINANCIAL!
