Chaz Dean Studio review: Can't cancel auto ship 126

This review was chosen algorithmically as the most valued customer feedback.

I have been trying all day to call the number included on my order to cancel the auto ship for the Chaz Dean/Wen haircare system. The message I get is "Due to extremely high call volume we're unable to process your call at this time. Your call is important to us. Please try your call at another time." I did email them and tell them to cancel the shipment, but I've got a feeling that's not going to work. If they ship it, I'll dispute the charges. It infuriates me, first with myself for falling for such a scam, and with them, for pulling it in the first place. And I saw them selling the product on QVC just a few weeks ago as well. I wonder if they're aware of what a scam Chaz Dean is running? Maybe I should post a complaint over there too!

You could always sell your unopened bottles on Ebay. People are absolutely mad for them. You will get atleast what the retail is. I dont shop thru gunthy-renker because of this auto ship. They do it on all their products. Find a beauty supply that sells it and go there instead.

Actually, the website does state that you will be automatically enrolled in their Auto-Shipment club. In regards to the product itself...I like it. Before using the Wen hair care system, I shampood & conditionered my hair every other day and no matter what I did I couldn't control the frizz - and I live out in the desert in Las Vegas with less than 15% humidity! I saw the infomercial and decided to give it a try. After I received my order I couldn't wait to try it - I had just shampooed my hair the two days before, too so this was the test! I had my husband take four pictures of my hair - front, side, back, & other side. And of course my hair looked like I stuck my finger in a light socket type of frizz. So, I jumped in the shower and used the product as instructed - using 32 pumps of cleanser because I have long thick hair. Then I used the hair mask for 30 minutes, rinsed then used 2 pumps for the leave-in-conditioner and quarter sized styling balm. I let my hair Air-dry like I normally do and then had my husband take 4 more pictures - front, side, back & side. BOY! What a difference! My hair was so much shinier and softer, the color did seem richer and practically NO FRIZZ! It was hard for me to see the dramatic results in the mirror, but the Before & After photos proved it worked! Yes the price is a bit up there, but if you factor in what you would pay for Professional Salon products - shampoo, conditioner, styling cream, frizz reducer & other stuff - it comes back to the same price or more! I'm sold! I'm going to continue using this product line!

For all of you that posted saying you called and cancelled with no problems at all, check your bank statement! Just because they said you're all set and cancelled does not make it so. And the website is very vague so don't feel bad about being confused about the auto pay thing either. I originally purchased the full 90 day supply but the way it was worded was deceptive. It implyed that you would be spreading the payments out monthly but it wasn't, they took one payment of 97.80. The way it was written (which is no longer even offered on the site because they must have had so many problems) was that for 2 additional monthly payments of 29.99 on top of the original 29.99, you'd get the 90 day supply to begin with. I don't know how that sounds to anyone else, but to me it sounds like you make the initial payment, then there are actually 2 ADDITIONAL monthly (spread out monthly) payments charged to you. When I called to complain, they said I ordered it wrong online but there was no othere way to order the 90 day supply because I went through the (almost) the whole process again to see if I had made the mistake. Ah no, it was simply false and misleading advertising.

Anyway, I did like the product so I just said whatever, now change it to spread out the payment to monthly instead of slapping me with a 97.80 charge again all at once. A couple of months later though, you guessed it, I got charged the 97.80 which caused 4 under $10 debit purchases I had made that week to bounce because my account only had about $90 in it. I ended up with $200 in charges due to the screw up. I was pissed. After listening to all the ### about sending my bank statement at the end of the month to show that they had caused the problem and then I would be reimbursed for their screw up, I told them to just cancel my account, stop the pending shipment, and give me my money back. They did refund my 97.80 back the next day. My bank helped me out with the charges, after speaking to 3 reps and finally a supervisor. They saw that the money was returned immediately so luckily they gave me a break because it was obviously not my mistake since the company sent my money right back. This was in August. I thought it was over. They sent me my money back so I assumed that they cancelled my account, I was wrong!

It's now November and yesterday I got a charge for 97.80 from them, again. So bad enough that they didn't cancel my account, but if they had at least changed it to monthly payments like I had initially requested, it wouldn't have bounced, again. Another $40 charge. Thanks, I really needed this aggravation, again.

So again I was told they would refund the 97.80 charge (I'll find out tomorrow if that happened) and supposedly they are cancelling my account AGAIN. I called my bank to set up a block so they can't try to charge me again once my refund comes back, if it comes back.

So everyone that thinks that they had such an easy time cancelling and that you're all set now, GOOD LUCK with that. Keep checking your statement for the charge, chances are it will magically appear again. If you want to make sure they can't charge you, call your bank like I did, or get a new debit card or credit card so they can't continue to charge you. I like the stuff but refuse to deal with a company whose incompetence costs me money and aggravation. Buy it from QVC if you really have to have it.

Horrible, horrible, horrible customer service! DO NOT order from this company. I hope those who are interested in purchasing this product will read the blogs posted relating to this terrible company. The product does not work.. and when you try to stop shipment after your initial 30 day trial period, they will keep sending it to you. They will keep charging your credit card company. I had to change my credit card number! If you get mailed a package and do not want it, the best thing to do it refuse the package, or write return to sender immediately. However, don't be fooled... you will have to pay for mailing and tracking, so that you will be able to confirm that you sent it, they may say they never received your order back, if you haven't paid for tracking. Chaz Dean/ Guthy Renker said that if I don't pay they will send my information to an outside collection agency.. beware!

Hi, I used to work for the customer service department. I know that it is occasionally hard to get through, emailing does work, but takes longer as the email goes to Guthy Renker corporate offices first and is forwarded to customer service. If you do get an additional package, do NOT open it. Return it to sender. This DOES NOT CANCEL YOUR MEMBERSHIP. If you again get a shipment and have not been able to contact customer service, return it again. Government regulations require a cancellation after 2 consecutive shipments. Call early in the morning, 7:00 AM CST, especially on Sundays (it's slow then) or late evening Monday -Wednesday (9-10 PM CST). Complain that you did not order it and do not want to pay shipping, it WILL be refunded.

Also, the sweet almond mint doesn't work for me either, but the Cucumber Aloe is MARVELOUS!

I have the same issue. I actually got a hold of the rep and canceled the service. I got a new credit for some other reason but now they are trying to charge me again. Since they don't have a correct credit card information they are sending me mail after mail to pay it. I called the billing department this time and i had to hold for about 10 minutes and a rep answered the call. He was saying I have to pay for the second shipment but I explained him that I have already been charged for the second shipment and I said if they don't close my account and stop sending me the mail then I was gonna sue them. I also told them I sent back the second shipment and gave the tracking number from the usps. Then this guy said he will close the account. I told him send me a mail that my account is been closed but initially he hesitated and said billing department don't communicate with the customer but I need a written proof from the billing department that there are no further dues. Finally he agreed to it and i got his name and agent id.

I'll post again once the issue is resolved.

Almost 10 months later, I'm still dealing with multiple attempts to cancel the auto shipment (a black hole I inadvertently stepped into), credit card charges for products not ordered, disputes over returned merchandise, and now, harassment from a collection agency! Yes, this company is horrible - definitely engaging in fraudulent business practices. Their collection agency, SKO Brenner American Inc has called me five times today. After receiving credit for the disputed charges from my credit card company, their agent concurs that the harassment is illegal. I refuse to pay them their $105 for products never received! Fortunately for me I come from a family of attorneys. As other's on this site have said... BEWARE! Lesson learned... I will never order from a TV infomercial again.

I am having the same exact problem. No one buy this product, it's such a rip off. It takes 4 to 6 weeks to ship it back to them, and then in mean time they still charge you and their excuse is "Well until we recieved the package, we still charge you" this shampoo is ###, i use pantene and herbal and see the same results. DO NOT BUY THIS PRODUCT, you will sadly disaapointed and in the end pissed the hell off.

Oh yes,
I am having a problem with this horrible company too but there is a twist. I ordered the stuff and my card was charged on November 22, 2008. I received the order. However, I used a virtual number credit card which is offered through citibank cards. When you use a virtual number, you can specify the amount to be charged on your card for that particular purchase and company and the expiration date when purchasing onine. My order was $35.90. I made my card limit to $36.00(you have to round up to the nearest dollar). My card was still charged but not with my actual credit card number because I did not want the company to charge me for future orders. For the next few months, the company sent me letters stating that they cannot charge my credit card. I ignored letters because I did not want my card charged anymore and I didn't want anymore product from them. All of a sudden, I get a collection notice in March saying that I owe them $97.80! Now, I beleive their website says that they auto ship every 3 months. Then, how did I get charged $97.80 when my first order was $35.90? It has been 3 months from the time my card was charged and the time that I have received the collection notice. So, technically, I should only be charged $35.90. In addition, I shouldn't be charded anyway since my credit card cannot be charged any further because of the limit and I have not received the merchandise! Yes, WHAT A SCAM!

I intially purchased the product after seeing it advertised on TV but it didn't suit my hair because it made it lank. They automatically shipped more product and I phoned to tell them I didn't want it. They persuaded me to keep it for a discount and suggested another product to try. I agreed but told them I did not want to be in any automatic ship program. Well I didn't like that product either but guess what? They continued to ship it. A month ago I called them because they charged my account for product that I had previously told them I did not want. They told me that there was a note to that effect in the system but the person who wrote it did not change the system to stop the product from being delivered. They told me the product had been shipped the day before and I should return at my cost and to make sure I sent it by some method that proved delivery and they gave me a Return number and said it would take 4/5 weeks for the money to be returned to my account! The product did not arrive for another week so I would suggest they were lying when they said it already been shipped. I told them categorically (again) that I did not want their product and that if I did I would order it. So 30 days later I find they have charged my account yet again and there is no product delivered at this point. I cannot get hold of anyone there; "all our agents are busy talking to other customers", probably because their lines are clogged by people making complaints. This practice of companies signing you up for automatic deliveries when you specifically told them you did not want that is absolutely OUTRAGEOUS and SHADY BUSINESS PRACTICE. They should be reported to every possible complaint site on the web and to Better Business Bureaus across the nation. Too many companies follow this practice and I, for one, am tired of it. I have no intention of using my time and money to return something I did not order in the first place - they can collect it themselves or I will toss it in the bin, I don't care which.

I ordered chaz dean from wenhaircare site and I discontinued the automatic shipping after he opened his on store chazdean.com. I did this so I would have control over when I needed to make an order, if I needed more product at a specific time. When I cancelled my order. I had absolutely no problems with them stopping shipment or billing me at all. They stopped automatic shipping immediately. All infomercials do this now. If you are having problems and can't reach by phone, just inform a business you will contact BBB.org to dispute their practices. Even if they are not a BBB member you can file a complaint and possibly get it listed on the BBB website, but I didn't have any problems, and I really like the cleanser idea instead of shampoo.

I'm not sure y the US guthy renker sounds so bad, I'm from Victoria, Australia and i had no issues cancelling the auto shipment of Sheer Cover when I ordered it for a friend and everytime I ring up for Wen, the operator was really helpful with all my enquiries. With regards to the results of Wen, I got to say its fantastic. I have fine hair n using many normal shampoo experience hair loss, dull, fizzy & tangled. With wen, even in winter where my hair will be flat due to static, its now so soft & has a summer volume. And its only the 3rd day. Love it!

Use the "Safe Card" feature with your credit card provider. It can set up a brand new, one-time-use number with the exact cost you want to charge, for times when you want to order something oneline, etc. This stops these crooks in their tracks if they don't stop auto-ship like you request! Bank of America provides this feature. Not sure about other credit card providers.

I bought WEN on QVC and I like the product. It is expensive so I can't use it everyday, but I do notice a difference. I looked on the Guthy Renker site thinking of ordering the sample 30 day supply. It DOES clearly state that 'WEN® Healthy Hair Care System 30-day supply Sweet Almond Mint for only $29.95 plus $5.95 s&h. By ordering now, you'll receive your first 30-day supply with Free Bonuses, and you’ll automatically receive a new 90-day supply delivered to your home every three months, and you lock in the discount price of just $29.95 a month plus $7.95 s&h per shipment. - ZDEC1 "I copied directly from the website. Like buying a car, always read all the fine print! Buyer beware on all products.

I called the number from the infomercial and the lady tried to sign me up for autoship. I told her No, I didn't want autoship and she seemed insistent. I told her I just wasn't going to order at all and then she got friendly and told me I didn't have to sign up for autoship. So I got the product and 30 days later there was a $100 charge to my account, for Guess What Auto Ship! I was very very mad. Couldn't find number for Chaz Dean so I googled Guthy Renker. The first thing that came up was a complaint about the same thing happening to them and that Chaz Dean told them to ship the product back and they would refund. But wouldn't refund the amount to ship it back or the amount paid to ship it there. So I didn't have a good feeling at all. I called Guthy Renker and they gave me a number for Chaz Dean. I asked the guy at GR if this was teh place I would call to get handle an unauthorized charge to my CC. He said, yes, but that if I didn't get help from them to call him back. So I called CD office and you could tell I wasn't the first person who had called complaining because she sounded like a recording. Blah Blah, send it back. No can't refund the shipping. I told her that there was no miscommunication with the rep when I ordered that she KNEW I didn't want autoship because I was going to cancel my order altogether. the CD rep said "Well, if you get the inital order at the reduced cost, you automatically sign up for autoship". I told her that was not explained to me at all and I intended to get a full refund. She basically said "Can I help you with anything else today, Ma'am." As if the conversation was over. So I called back to GR pretty peeved and they put me through to someone. I told them that their name was getting dragged through the mud along with Chaz Dean because the first website that came up was a complaint board. They gave me a full refund without my having to send the product back beforehand. When the product arrived, I shipped it back. So I was out some money but not as much as I would have been. I will never do business with anyone that has an autoship program at all again. Certainly never with Chaz Dean. If it hadn' t been for GR, I would have been out over $30 I am sure.

I ordered the product through the ad on TV and paid the $35.90 that was due by my credit card. I received the product and started using it right away. After the 3rd time of using it, I noticed a large loss of hair. Then in 30 days, I received a second debit on my credit card for $37.90 without my approval. I called the company and waited for ever to speak to a human. I was told that it is an auto shipment and an auto billing but I explained that I did not authorize a second order or another charge. They informed me that when the product came in the mail, I had to send it back to them (at my expense) then they would credit my account. I never received that shipment so I disputed the charge. Now I received a statement from the company, Chaz Den, for a total of $97.80 that does not have any explanation on it other than my credit card had a charge back. This is a complete scam. I told them when I disputed the 2nd charge that I was unhappy with the product as it made my hair fall out and believe me, it did. If worse comes to worse, I will get a lawyer and sue this company as they are extremely dishonest and will continue to send and bill you for their products and if you don't pay, you will get ever larger bills.
RIP OFF and DON'T BUY THEIR PRODUCTS!

I checked on here before ordering this product, just to "check it out." I would be totally livid and I'm glad I researched first! If I were ALL you guys, espcially the ones who have cancelled and are still being charged, I would contact the US attorneys office... there are enough complaints that they may be able to terminate their "business" and force them to return the installments...?

And each month after they are charging my account. Ive talked with a Tiffany, tracy and today Dustin. noone really seems to care. They keep telling me this will be the last time. I did send a shippment unopened back, say that was was I was paying for. I told him It takes over 2 1/2 months for them to recieve and then credit my account. he said sometimes even longer. I told him that Chaz Dean is a scam! What else can be done.

Hi all, I've read through most of the comments and with a couple of exceptions it seems that most of you are fed up with their business practices, that I get and was glad that I found this information out before I ordered from their site, however I would really like to know are you happy with the product? Does it do what the commericials state? and if you didn't have the auto-ship issue, would you refer others to use the WEN hair care product? Thx a bunch for your candid responses.

I think it ROCKS! My hair hasn't been this thick and shiny and soft since I was in college..I'm 51 years young. It was amazing at first but over time, it has been incredible. I get hi/lo lites and still no frizz. I mask my hair before and after color. Color is better and lasts longer. I'm hooked.

I ordered this in December and within a week of receiving the product, I created an on-line account and changed my frequency to 20 weeks for the next delivery as I knew that I wouldn't use this shampoo on a daily basis. About a week ago, I rec'd a big box. When I checked on-line, my next delivery date was changed to June when it had originally been May. So I called [protected]) based on the info from other posters and talked with a guy who was very helpful. He apologized and said it was their mistake. He asked if he could switch me to an invoice plan where they send me a message/letter reminding me that it's time to order and I have to call and tell them it's OK to send it. I saw another poster did the same thing...so I hope it really works.

I will say this about the product, for the few times I have used it on my hair, I like it and I seem to get more compliments on my hair those days. If it wasn't so expensive, I'd probably use it a couple of times a week.

I ordered the Wen Product on Feb 7... I also added the 5.95 for express shipping, the company was to send within 5-7 days... It is now Feb 18. I just got off the phone with AMBER, An understanding agent.
Amber explained to me THEIR process of shipping out express... The order takes days and days to get to be processed and only until it is processed does the "express" start... I explained to Amber that being a Business Owner myself I wouldn't work with a company who wasn't on the up and up. I asked Amber to cancel any further transactions based on unethical business. She said she would( we will see) I got her ID # and was very adamant about cancellation even though my First order hasn't even got to me. I told her A Bad company ruined a possible good product... this is the number I called ... [protected], the first time I called I made the mistake in saying that I needed to check on status of an order..with them knowing my # by my original order.. an automated machine said that my order hasn't been shipped so I asked to talk to customer service... a recording said that They were experiencing high volumes of calls and hung up on me...i called back and just asked for customer service and got through within 3 mins. I hope that Amber did her job...
