1. Constant threats - employees come to work in fear every single day... wondering if they will have a job tomorrow. Statements like "heads will roll" and "there will be blood" are basically burnt into our brains.
2. Micromanaging is an understatement. Constant bombardment of phone calls, e-mails, and instant messages from management to "check up" on employees. There is some form of communication every 15-30 minutes, all day long.
3. The company "claims" to sell with integrity, but that couldn't be further from the truth. It's all about hard sales, convincing someone they need to move in our communities - even when they desperately need Assisted Living, Memory Care, etc. Management doesn't care that these people need more care, it's called making money.
4. As employees, we are given directives... those can change at a moment's notice. It doesn't matter how much work or effort has gone into any specific project or task, it's all trashed if someone wants to change strategies. It's a constant state of upheaval. Nothing is consistent - except for the negativity and threats. That's constant - everyday - doesn't change.
5. No matter how hard anyone works, it's never good enough. We work our days off, work late into the evening, and there's no thanks. It's even gone so far as me being required to still attend conference calls and do reports on VACATION. I have spent my own personal money to help pull off events (because the company suddenly cuts a budget after an event is already planned/advertised). No compensation, no appreciation. They just want more.
6. Independent thinkers are NOT welcome. This company wants sheeple... people who are as dumb as sheep, who will just follow orders - not actually think for themselves.
7. "My way or the highway" attitude from upper management. Unless they came up with the idea, they don't want to hear about it. Your ideas are trash to them - even if it has a proven track record of success.
8. I have personally encountered insults, derogatory remarks, literally screaming/yelling/cursing at employees. This comes from upper management. They appear to be adult-sized temper tantrums. And it's "accepted" because everyone is terrified to stand up for themselves.
9. The turnover rate is unbelievable. I've worked in sales for nearly 20 years and I've never encountered this level of employee turnover. Employees are not happy - they feel abused and mistreated. Many are desperate for work, so they tolerate it. But only for so long. Even the top executives in the company have been with Holiday for less than 5 years... even the executives are dropping like flies. Something is terribly wrong and no one wants to address it.
10. Residents sense a problem - they see the constant turnover and instability. Many have moved out of our communities because they see new people every few weeks. They don't feel safe. Many residents feel lied to because one manager tells them something... then a new manager comes in and says something else. A couple months later, a Regional person tells them something completely different. Lack of communication, lack of documentation, and lack of follow through.

All comments listed above are exactly how my experience has been over the past four years. I was the pm cook. Constant bullying. Constant threats, the entire staff was expected to work off the clock. I myself have heard those exact phrases such as "heads will roll" there is a serious problem with upper and lower management in this company. I just hope, for the sake of my former co workers, and all our residents, that things are improved in some way.

Not that it would be likely to be effective but the constant micromanaging could be addressed with a quick :busy working will get back to you when things slow down. But if there's a "Heads will roll" mentality that is likely off the table.

As for working off the clock are you salaried or exempt? Otherwise compensate me, or I'm polishing up my resume. Paying out of pocket due to budget cuts? LOL, someone is using that cash for their personal wishes. Again time to polish the resume for the disappearance of funding, the fact that you've donated to save face for a company that apparently is not doing right for you is partly your fault especially if it's been multiple times. Even if the ripped off seniors are disappointed someone is ripping off the company funds and if you choose to donate, then donate with the knowledge you're considered a donor.

My complaint is my immediate supervisor, constantly running to the GM making up false statements to have you written up, and when you tell your side, the GM just sweeps you under the rug, and to top it all off, that person shortens you a day off the schedule, I've been employed with Holiday for 11 years and this is the worst year of all, and I don't think this is fair to lose pay because you can control employees hours
