Cash Exchange Program
Today is 5/24/23 and I have waited over a week and still don't have a quote from HSI for my cash exchange. I've been asked the same question four times (regarding maintenance fees, which I do not pay on my vacation plan). I answered the question immediately but have been told the Processing Department is still calculating. My 15-year old nephew could have done the math faster.
I have multiple complaints regarding their lack of customer service but I'll just leave it for now.
Desired outcome: I want a quote for the cash exchange for my two resort weeks I deposited with HSI.
Resort time booked/not refund during pandemic
I have booked 4 weeks of vacation back in October 2019 for my family. At mid November 2020, I am unable to travel because of Canadian border closures, not able to get approved Covid tests in Canada and no insurance company will insure travel for myself and 3 children. They will not refund or change dates to same time in one year. Uncompromising. Rude and not willing to escalate to a manager for dispute.
hsi payment for using your vacation rental
In 2018 I used HSI's cash exchange program agreeing to sell HSI the use of our vacation timeshare unit for two weeks. HSI then sold those weeks and they were used during the summer of 2018.
In Oct 2018 I contacted HSI to ask why I had not been paid and on Oct 3, 2018 they emailed me saying that their accounting department was inudated with a high volume of transactions and that our check was scheduled to be mailed to us the week of Jan 21, 2018 (they ment 2019). On Feb 3, 2019 I emailed them again asking where our overdue check was. On Feb 5, 2019 they emailed back saying that they would email me when they mailed the check (but gave no commitment on when they planned to send the check).

Highly recommended, but caution will not hurt.
We found clear and detailed contact information for Holiday Systems International. The company provides a physical address, 4 phone numbers, and 2 emails, as well as 3 social media accounts. This demonstrates a commitment to customer service and transparency, which is a positive sign for building trust with customers.
Holidaysystems.com has a valid SSL certificate, which indicates that the website is secure and trustworthy. Look for the padlock icon in the browser and the "https" prefix in the URL to confirm that the website is using SSL.
Holidaysystems.com you are considering visiting, which is associated with Holiday Systems International, is very old. Longevity often suggests that a website has consistently provided valuable content, products, or services over the years and has maintained a stable user base and a sustained online presence. This could be an indication of a very positive reputation.
However ComplaintsBoard has detected that:
- Holidaysystems.com has relatively low traffic compared to other websites, it could be due to a niche focus, but could also indicate a potential lack of traffic and popularity. The holidaysystems.com may offer a niche product or service that is only of interest to a smaller audience.
- Holiday Systems International protects their ownership data, a common and legal practice. However, from our perspective, this lack of transparency can impede trust and accountability, which are essential for establishing a credible and respected business entity.

Insider hsi exposed
I am a current employee of HSI and let me tell Craig Morganson is the most disresectful, degrading, arrogant man I've ever seen in my 23 years of life. He calls employees and managers c**ts, idiots, and degrading names costantly and screams at the top of his lungs. He cancels the most expensive memberships with a free cruise certificates if members are even 1 day past due on their annual payment and voids the certificate and charges outrageous reinstatment fees afer you paid thousands of dollars the previous year for the membership cost. Also dosent send invoices so you are not notified of your payment. So if you buy HSI and get the free cruise make sure to pay your dues early or use your free cruise right away. The resorts offered are low quality and the company claims members have the "guranteed lowest rates" or they double the difference in cash. Your discount is no more than $100, HSI is a over priced coupon book. What you pay for is a membership priced between $1, 000 and $10, 000 to have the "privilage" to pay for discounted travel at about a $20 to $300 savings or discount. In the year and 6 months I work there ive seen members quoted prices on travel and they found it cheaper and HSI has never doubled the difference in cash. HSI does not enroll members directly you have to buy the membership at an affiliated resort and people international sales people misrepresent the product and tell all these lies about it and when consumers get back home and want to cancel and recieve a refund through HSI, HSI tells them they have to hunt down the international salesman who sold it to the member to get their refund. So its a scam frm the start. Do not buy this crap! I know first hand and talk toso many disappointed members everyday full of regret and out thousands of dollars. Remember HSI is HSLIES!
Dhanan Belding; Kevin Gailhart is who sold me my membership too. He provided his personal cell number if I eve had problems. I tried to call him, that number is not hooked up yet is the message. I called HSI and was told he is not their employee he is an employee of Villa sol in costa Rica, I called them and he is not an employee he works for HSI.
What happened to you is horrific and a far worse story than mine. this company is a rip off and Kevin is their leader.

Travel Agency Scam
We have just returned from Grand Mayan vacation. We made the mistake to attend the Grupo Myan introduction to there time time share program. What a mistake!! I have been in sales at all levels and feel qualified to say that this was the most orchestrated, non-relenting, sales attack I have ever experienced. We walked away to consider what had been presented...

HIGH PRESSURE, FRAUDULENT MEMBERSHIP SALES:
HSI is raping innocent tourists on the Mayan Riviera in Mexico with their "Taste of Paradise" package.
Key points tourists at Grand Mayan Riviera Maya & Mayan Palace should know:
1. Free breakfast and 1 hour tour of hotel is a scam to lure you into a day-long sales event. They will frankly lie to you to coerce you to sign. If you do decide to go, DO NOT TAKE YOUR CREDIT CARD because it will be swipe at some point.
2. HSI sales agents will arrive to harrass you after you have said "No Thank You" a hundred times to RCI sales people. HSI sales agents will lie to you to falsely represent their product as follows:
-100 year term of membership is for 25 years on the actual contract you sign. You can renew it in 25 years for whatever price they set in 25 years $$$, if they are still in business of course.
-Their sales office is at luxurious and beautiful resorts, Grand Mayan and Mayan Palace; however, these resorts, in addition to all Grupo Mayan resorts, Grand Luxe, and others, are excluded from the travel program. People naturally assume that they can use their membership at the resort where they are staying and buying a travel membership, but this is a false assumption.
-There is a $15-40 booking fee every time you reserve with HSI. Just one more fee that is not disclosed.
-After you pay the $6000 enrollment fee, you pay $99 per year for membership. They bad-mouth RCI, but RCI, a more established and older company, charges $400 for 5 years or $80/year. When you add up the hidden charges, HSI is more expensive
-After you sign and pay your $[protected] membership enrollment fee, this amount is non-refundable. If you sign, pay, but then decide to cancel within hours or days, they will tell you that you can cancel. Yes, you can cancel, but you do not get your $6000 enrollment fee back. After all, on the contract you signed where it says your enrollment fee is not refundable, and the sales agents will shove the signed contract into your face. **THERE IS NO 5 DAY RESCIND PERIOD FOR HSI**
-You are still paying your maintenance fees when you use your weeks every year. Thus, you are not reducing or saving your maintenance fees. You are just paying for them when you book your weeks. If they promise to rent your unit and give you $1700/week, they will dedcut $650 for maintenance fees; however, none of these transactions are disclosed in their contract, nor would they put it in writing.
-The burn weeks for $100 for 1 day or 1 week is basically a last-minute deal. If you can wait until last minute to book something and you have a lot of time to spend on their website or by phone, you might be able to get something for $100. This benefit is not any different from purchasing last minute deals through RCI, II, or other websites.
-They deserve the award of the year for having the most arrogant, unprofessional, rude, condescending, and sneakiest staff. How can they expect to earn the trust of people when they blatantly lie and twist the truth to their clients? If they really want people to buy into their company, then they should give them the facts, period. If they were selling a great product, then they wouldn't have to trick you by falsely representing their product.
-The small gifts are not worth wasting your whole day with these people. They will spend about $50 on you for your whole day. That's about $7 per hour-are we really that cheap? Make sure you pack your lunch and a co0ler because they won't give you anything after your free breakfast.
In conclusion, Hospitality System International (HSI) and it's "Taste of Paradise" package is just another travel scam on the Mexican Riviera that you should avoid. Keep your eyes open for the next Class Action Lawsuit against them, or they may mysteriously go out of business in few years after they've taken your money.

Timeshare scams are HUGE problem in Mexico. We purchased a Royal Elite Timeshare last year. We were promised all kinds of opportunity, while they kept serving us cold Coronas. Between HSI, RCI, and Royal Elite it seems that this is all a scam. We initially made three payments of $800, and now after Royal Elite has made a mistake with their collections back in the end of 2008, Monterey Financial has been threatening to send me to court to recover the unpaid portion ever since. Royal Elite is almost impossible to contact. This has become a huge pain, and a troubling financial burden. These are more complaints made on the Royal Elite timeshare resorts:

If you are considering investing any money with hsi, run, don't walk, as fas as you can in the other direction. They are no better than snake-oil peddlers. Their guarantee means nothing. It is just part of their fraudulent sales pitch. I have attempted to use my membership benefits and had no success. For a recent trip I was able to book a hotel on line and in my preferred location much cheaper than anything they had to offer. Many of the resorts listed in their vacation guide are not available through them. I was told, "we do not do enough business with them to offer wholesale rates." this is certainly not what we were lead to believe. This is the first complaint about anyone I have ever posted on the internet. I am not easily disgruntled, but I thought everyone should be warned about hsi.
The complaint has been investigated and resolved to the customer’s satisfaction.
Well HSI no you don't as I have found vacations cheaper and when I called was told I had to have already booked the same vacation with you first and then I would get a credit. Not at all what I was told buying the membership.
I have found on several occasions the same holiday cheaper while even including air fare.
Your website no longer even works for me, I have called and been sent new passwords that also don' t work.
today I got a call from a "division" of HSI meaning you are selling or giving our personal information to other companies.

I'm calling B.S. on HSI's comment made here on May 24, 2010. They were impossible to contact when we had an issue when trying to check in to our accommodations and did not support a resolution later. We returned to the same area in Mexico where we bought the HSI membership and booked a week's stay at an all-inclusive resort. We reserved a 2 bedroom so that hubby and I could have privacy and our pre-teen son could have the other bedroom. I explicitly asked if the resort would have a problem with this reservation with no additional fees coming in for the 2nd bedroom and was told by the timeshare owner and HSI that the reservation was good. Because of the timeshare owner's contract, "kids under 12 stayed for free, with no additional AI fees." It was confirmed several times that the only additional cost when reaching the resort was to pay AI fees for hubby and myself. When we arrived to check in, the resort told us our child was to be charged 50% of the adult AI fee, and if we kept the reservation as it was booked we would have to pay the minimum of two additional AI fees for 2 adults that could have stayed in the room. Turns out the timeshare owner's special contract terms were only good for themselves or their guests, and those benefits went away when the week was traded in to a company like HSI for re-sale. The total of extra charges at the resort was over two thousand dollars more than what we were told when reserving with HSI. When we tried to phone HSI from the resort we could not get through to them. We tried for several hours and eventually we had to go ahead and check in. HSI's paperwork states that if you go ahead and check in without contacting them they are not responsible for additional costs incurred. How convenient for them that we could not reach them that day. Exactly how long were we supposed to linger at the resort in blistering heat without checking in while we tried to contact HSI? We had used our HSI membership twice prior to this trip. The first time we found that we could have booked the same stay through the resort directly for less money, and the second time there was contruction outside our window the entire week (that had been told to the timeshare owners for planning but was never conveyed to us by HSI). This Mexico trip was the worst one though.
We paid $6000 for the HSI membership, plus a $99 yearly maintenace fee. When we bought it we were told several places that we regularly travel to were usually available when booked several months in advance. This was not the case (even when trying to book 6 months to a year prior to travel) during the years we had the membership. Eventually we decided to cut our losses and stop the HSI membership. We have been back to that resort in Mexico several times since the HSI trip and now book directly through timeshare owners. With the direct bookings, our kid did stay for free until he was 12, and we got special benefits through the owners' contract. SAVE YOUR MONEY AND AVOID HSI.
I felt as many that we were duped into this program. I did not buy a time share but like the way the program was explained. When I was told I could get them to pick up my maintenance fees from my other timeshare I owned I questioned the agent and was assured that it was correct they DO pick up the maintenance fees other that the taxes. When I went to request that from HSI they said I could not get the full amount of the maintenance fee they would only pay 2/3 of the fee because they said my maintenance fees were to high and they could not get the full amount from the wholesalers they sell it to. That means I get no use from the resort and have to pay 1/3 of the fees.
Of course they will not reimburse the cost of getting into the program and I am out the $$$$$ for what ?
Priceline does a better job on the bid process and is a whole lot better value ! RUN AWAY FROM HSI !
I agree with these complaints. I spent 4 hours of very high sales pressure on my Cancun vacation that left a very bad taste in my mouth. I ended up buying the "75 weeks" program from them which they said was a one time fee only and I believed them & that was a big mistake. That was 5 years ago and I have had to pay $99/year for "maintenance fees" and I haven't used even one week of my 75 weeks because I can ALWAYS get a better deal on-line than going through HSI using one of my paid weeks. Everything they told me in their high pressure sales pitch was either a lie or at best, deceiving. Even that they would buy my old time share if I bought their 75 week package, another lie. Over the last 5 years, their customer service here in Las Vegas has been so bad that I have given up on them. If you ever hear of HSI, fair warning... Buyer Beware!
I agree
I have been with HSI paying yearly for five years. They have DONE NOTHING for my daughter and I. They say oh we have this and this and never not once with dates ever we need. I pay fees every year and it gets me no where. Sept is renewal and I am not bothering, no rentals happening no nothing. Im walking away from any timeshare stuff ever ever again.
I totally agree with the complainants and support their views and sentiments 100%. We too were duped into buying this Taste of Baloney package and were given a cruise certificate that promised a fixed rate discount cruise for two. Trouble is that they never discuss the fine print that takes what is a suppose to be a "FIXED" rate and adds in thousands of dollars. We paid them nearly $3, 000.00 to join their "members only" discount program only to find we could book the EXACT same cruise, same room, same dates, everything... directly through the cruise lines for basically the same rate. In some cases we found we could beat their prices online. What a rip off!
