Iron Mountain is now charging all customers an administrative fee of $25.12 per month for "maintenance and administrative" services. Why? What additional services are you giving to the customer that warrants this additional monthly charge. The system is entirely computerized and has been for the year and 1/2 that I have been using them. Since the customer does all the ordering, etc. online, which means more work for the customer and less work for Iron Mountain, why are we stuck paying an additional fee and getting nothing in return? I have also requested files in the warehouse to be destroyed. The files are already in my possesion and they are going to charge me a "retrevial" fee. I already paid the retrieval fee back when I retrieved them, how can they charge me again?! This company has such a monopoly over people who need to store files offsite and once they get a hold of your inventory you have no choice but to pay their outrageous fees or spend thousands of dollars to get your own files back from them. You're better off renting your own storage space or finding a Mom & Pop storage facility that hasn't been bought out by the giants like Iron Mountain. I will be getting my files out of there as soon as possible and recommend that you find someplace else to store your records.

We have had the same problem where Iron Mountain has scammed their business customers and are charging an administrative fee of $25.12 per month for "maintenance and administrative" services, with no benefit to the business customer. Plus if you attempt to retrieve the records, they charge a "retrevial" fee of nearly $4, 000 for a few boxes. Is this even legal? You are right, this company holds a monopoly in offsite storage and once they get a hold of your records, one has no choice but to pay their outrageous fees to go and retrieve your own records! I agree with the comment above - it's better to go rent a storage facility. DO NOT waste your money with Iron Mountain. There are far better options, but just be sure of the associated fees.

Tell Iron Mountain no problem if you auction my boxes you are doing so without my consent therefore leaving your company open to many lawsuits. The documents that are in those boxes are FACTA and HIPPA protected. If you auction my boxes you are doing so without my consent and therefore you are not NAID compliant. NAID is the NationalAssociation for Information Destruction, Iron Mountain is a certified member and it will be revoked quickly if they go ahead and auction off your boxes. Also I highly suggest you contact those in charge of FACTA and inform them that tons of people's information is about to be released by Iron Mountan without any client's consent. Call up any news station in your area. I promise you Iron Mountain will give you back your boxes. You may still be in financial debt to them but they are LEGALLY not allowed to sell off private information. Especially since they know it has sensitive information. If they do, they are going against what they stand for and that's simply protecting your clients information. NEWS MEDIA WILL BE ALL OVER THIS STORY!
