Stay away from this product at all costs. I used just for men facial hair dye on my goatee. I did the test with it & had no problem then I applied it for the first time & it was fine. Used it again about 2 weeks later & all of sudden I felt an annoying itch I thought it just dried my skin out a little then it started burning & itching but I couldn't see what was happening to my face untill I shaved I had pimple looking bumps filled with puss enflamed skin on my chin severe burning & itching puffed out & dark red. There should be a class action lawsuit against this company for putting out a dangerous product also in irritates eyes & has a bad chemical smell.
I'm having the same issue. Burning itching and sores with puss coming out. I have been using just for men mustache for years. I say this just started in the past 6-7 months. They must have change the formula. I stop using it for three weeks now . I still have pussy scabs that won't go away. Does anybody know how long this will last?
I too had a terrible reaction. I should have been hospitalized. No insurance. My neck
swelled. I found it hard to breath. My neck was red and inflamed. The front of my neck is still red and scared.I am afraid it looks like cancer. I thought by now it would have subsided but it has not. Then I am watching TV and the class action suit comes on. I had no idea others had suffered as I had. I am joining suit.
Only just started using this product recently although have used the JFM hair dye's for years, carried out the 'patch test', fine, no problems, used it a couple of times, again, no problems, then all of a sudden began to get the itchiness and reddening, it's so uncomfortable now I'm unable to sleep and find myself typing this in the early hours (UK) with my face smothered in Aloe Vera gel and 'Sudo Crem'.
It seems they've claimed it's down to the individuals hormone's 'changing' why there's suddenly an adverse reaction to long term users (or so I've read), I never used the old stuff so can't compare, however, I'm not convinced, will be shaving from now on (when I can actually put a razor to it).
I have had the same experience as other long time users. The first couple of times I tested and had no reactions and have used for more than a year with no reaction. I only use lightly to tone down the gray, not try to eliminate it.. I started to get a reaction after the last box I bought, about 2 to 3 months ago. With no problem before, I did not identify JFM as the problem and have applied sparingly 4 or maybe 5 time in 3 months, now the reaction is out of control. I can not sleep, oozing weeping sores, burning through out beard and eye brows .I have washed area several times a day with hot water and soap, anti-bacterial soap, rubbing alcohol, used anti-itch creams and numerous ointments and nothing will clear it up. It would be very hard to exaggerate the discomfort.
DOES ANYONE HAVE A SUGESTION HOW CLEAR THIS UP ?
I have been using Just For Men hair dye for some time now at least over a couple of years and never had a problem and just loved the product. But a couple of months ago after applying the product as I would normally the sides of my scalp became very itchy, red and bumpy. I had scratched the sides of my scalp so much that they became raw.
Well, I still didn't know for sure if it was the product because I had never had this happen before after using the it. After a few weeks the sides of my scalp had healed some what and gotten better, so I tried it again. Once again, the sides of my scalp became very irritated, red and bumpy. I then realized it was the product.
I don't know what is going on with the product but it is not the same. Either Just For Men changed something in the ingredients or a bad batch has gone out into the market place. At first I thought maybe it's just me but then I saw something on television recently from a law firm stating that many people have had an "adverse effect" after using the Just For Men hair dye and to call them...so I did.
same thing here with the black and dark brown first time blacjk no problems get this stuff of the market please
I tried this product as directed and when I rinsed it out all the gray was still there. while waiting it looked as if it was working but no such luck. like others said a waste of money. Because it worked for others doesn't mean to judge those who report failure. Just was a waste of time and money for me.
This is a Bad product and JFM knows. I have proof that ythis product can cause serious problems. Dont call the law firm. They are a joke.
Clas action Law suit is best
I used just for men on 11/30/2014 the next I wakeup with oozing fluid, burning, blister ].
JUST FOR BURN please take your BS product of market
I live in the U.K. use just for men on my goatee - mid brown. Used one box...first 2 time excellent results with no problems...two day I used the last of the box...woke in the night to intense...itching with a fire like quality that has not subsided as I sit at my work desk typing this...the pharmacist tells me it is an allergic reaction...and prescribed piriton for the itching. I am also aware of small pustule like pimples forming...it is an intense feeling. Just in time for the holidays as well...I liked the results the product gave me but not these consequences...will try alternatives like henna in the future.
I purchased jfm beard and moustache dye. I carried out the patch test and had no problem when I applied it to my face I had no problem, 2 days later I had an uncontrollable itch and big red spots on my face and swollen cheeks and throat I was in a bad way the spots devoloped yellow pus and I had to seek medical attention after 3 days I was no better off I went back to my gp who gave me antibiotic and steriod cream and also oral antibiotics. I am still after 5 days itching like mad and my face looks like something out of elephant man I'm not sleeping properly and this has completely stressed me put. Stay well away from this product it is a nasty piece of work. I have takenpictures kept receipts and the bottle and taken photos daily and I'm going to seek advice this product should be taken off the shelves with immediate effect
OMG I thought I was losing my mind... I've used this product for years and the last 3X it just burned and caused weeping sores! I hate to go gray but the burn and itch is unbearable... Has anyone gotten an answer from the company as to what they did to change this product and I mean I used it for years with ZERO problems; this all started 12/2014 for me!

I recently used JFM auto stop and thought it would be good as it has no amonia or peroxide. I read the instructions carefully and did a 48hr test patch on my inner elbow. After 8 hours there was no itching. then the next day it started to itch so i washed it off.
I now have a weeping huge blister on my arm, its now slowly beginning to scab over.
I will NOT be using this again.
See pics.
rospeony133@frontier.com... I HAVE USED THIS SAME PRODUCT FOR MANY YEARS AND THIS LAST TIME 4 DAYS AGO. AND IT DID NOT COLOR MY HAIR AT ALL.. IT WAS EVEN HARD TO EVEN MIX UP.. I DONT KNOW WHAT HAS CHANGED BUT PLEASE SEND ME A COUPON FOR A NEW BOX...MEDIUM BROWN H-35... [protected])
My husband has got terrible reaction to just for men dye..
Face covered in red lumps with yellow green puss coming out this should be taken off the market ... It's terrible stuff he's in agony not sleeping itching. This dye should be taken off the market
I have used this before with no problems. I used it five days ago and a few hours later i felt burning in the treated area. I shaved my beard off two days later and noticed redness, itching and minor swelling and i have tough skin. I would strongly discourage anyone from using this stuff. There is something wrong with it. I went to another site and it appears there are hundreds of people who experienced what i did. Many people have been hospitalized some to the point where they couldn't eat properly because of pain around the mouth. My case is minor...I am treating it with Hydrocortisone Cream it it appears to be working. Many other people have been treating it with a myriad of steroids and drugs and have shown negligible improvement.
I know something changed in this formula, absolutely must have because I had used it perfectly fine till recently and insane mind bending itching on my face, burns that I thought would leave permanent horrid scars, still has not healed. Why would these idiots change the formula and let this go on like this?
Just For Men Beard & Mustache is a dangerous product. I followed directions and brushed the product on my mustache and goatee and let sit for 5 minutes before washing out. That was 9pm. I went to bed at 10pm. Woke up at 1am in agony...face was burning and itching like heck. I got in the shower and shaved off my mustache and goatee hoping that would relieve the discomfort. It did not. I was up all night without any sleep. Next day my face itched all day long. Around 5pm my face swelled up, pimple-like bumps appeared, and puss started oozing out of my chin. Just For Men Beard & Mustache should be taken off the market. Assuming products like this require FDA approval prior to being sold, I am amazed that this product ever received FDA approval. If my face has permanent scarring, I will definitely jump on the class action lawsuit bandwagon if and when that occurs. Heck, I would rather put battery acid on my face than Just For Men Beard & Mustache!
I have used this product last year 4 or 5 times with no problems and great results Augyst and sept 2014 used it april of 2015 and had burning and itching for days so I shaved it off and was fine until may 12, 2015 my beard has grown long and gray so got the dark brown and colored came out great . THEN it happened that night itchy irritated scabbing puss blisters cant shave because of my work I look like I have a contagious disease ...so a week later im still suffering with scabs and itching this product never again
I like others have TESTED AS INSTUCTED WITH NO PROBLEMS, then a couple of days later my chin started itching and burning, I finally shaved my goatee to find it covered in sores that oozed, and skin burnt. It's been 2 weeks now chin is very red, dry and constantly itching and no matter what I put on it, the itching and dryness persists.
I wanted to take some of the gray out of my husband's beard so I talked to him into using just for men beard. The biggest regret ever -I am so upset the damage this product did to his face -I've been dying my own gray for years I know how to use dye products -we tested them on the skin there was no reaction.
his face is filled with blisters after less than five minutes I could've poured straight acid on his face and it would have caused less damage then this product. Took him to a dermatologist yesterday he's got chemical burns - I do not recommend ever using this product ever. This product should be banned it's dangerous
I've used this product for 6 years, with no problem, I shaved my beard for the Summer, now it's September and used the product like normal...my face is on fire! Swelling in my lips and neck, bleeding it's awful. Sent a letter of complaint to Just for Men.
I experienced the same effects as the others, burning, itching, puss bumps with oozing and inflammation, lost of hair, had to take benadryl tablets to. Slow down the itching been to emergency room twice only to get proscribed the medication and experience serious side effects. Only figured out what was wrong, after a friend who was a pharmacists assistance ask me had I used any kind of hair coloring in that area of my face. I told I had used just for men, she looked it up and founded out about the reaction it had on other's and all the complaints about it,
Funny I started getting painful itchy blotches on my face couldn't figure it out then I saw a commercial on TV about JFM I blew it off but started researching product ant see that others are having the exact same reaction coincidence I don't think so. Note don't get me wrongI have used this product for years won't anymore.does anyone no how to clear up this painful rash?
I too have used this product for awhile. Did a test area and no problem. I used it for about a year before anything started happening had to stop using it due to the burning, blisters, itching, redness. It would keep me up at night. Can someone post what they changed in their formula. I wish I kept an old box, so I could see the what the difference is. I haven't used it in weeks and my face is still red and itches all the time.
any suggestions on another product that doesn't damage your skin?
I'm another victim of JFM. I get the the horrible burning sensation that makes you want to scratch your face off, I've heard of a chemical free dye called wolfs beard but then I've heard it's not that great at achieving the correct colour. My guess is that I'm going to have to grow old gracefully, just don't want to !
Colored beard Saturday.
Itching started Sunday. Unbearable itching Monday. Shaved beard Monday evening. Swollen red splotchy itchy painful skin. Eyes were swollen shut when I woke Monday morning. Less swelling on eyes this morning. Keep getting itching attacks, unbearable. Using cold wet towels to minimize itching. Skin still swollen. Poisonous crap we put on our face, hope this gets better. Class action? I'm in.
Horrible reaction even after performing a test patch. The inside of the elbow is not the same type of skin as a man's face. I am through with this product despite the assurance it is 'safe'. I have used the product in the past between Just for Men, Touch of Gray, and the Moustache & Beard product which you mix. All of them are varying degrees of torture. The latest application was 2 minutes on my face, I did not shave beforehand and within 5 minutes I had an entire band of red around my moustache region and my face. HORRIBLE.
The only thing that helped is cool water rinse immediately, a Benadryl, Neosporin for the burn and 1% hydrocortisone is debatable at the moment.
WHY is this still on the market and not BANNED? Is the reason they call this Just Form Men because a woman would not put up with such abuse but a man is supposedly tougher and can take it? I am not a vain person but I tell you this isn't worth it at all - I'd rather go back to my age appropriate gray and instead of continuing to live with this ruse I actually look younger.
I have not seen other suggestions what would work better. BlackBeard for Men does not last more than a day and it too also has claims of reactions - but none as bad as Just For Men products.
I will be forced to call out sick from work and at this time I just want the burning and pain to end.
PURE HELL
I have used the Just For Men products for a few years but this last batch is HORRIBLE.
MUSTACHE & BEARD with the two tubes you mix equally caused this issue. I did the test patch, used the AUTOSTOP before on both head and beard but any type of skin contact is a bad decision.
I quit for a week and went back to trying AUTOSTOP and had it on for TWO (2) minutes and this was the result.
ABSOLUTELY HORRIBLE. ITCHY weepy, on FIRE.
I will now have to call out from work. Benadryl oral dose and Neosporin have helped a bit. 1% Hydrocortisone is undecided at the moment as it began to make the burning worse.
I am not a vain man but perhaps it is time to stop this ruse and just go gray and let the world know I've ben a fool to trust this product.
I know of no other solutions to use instead of J4M. The Blackbeard products seem to last only a day and the other brand name products such as Clairol or otherwise are non-existent in the stores.
This is what the Just For Men name means to me - men that can prove they are tough enough to endure this but not file a formal complaint because of the embarrassment and intimidation factors involved. I believe men are much more tolerant because a woman would not put up with this type of reaction and discomfort.
Use this product and the entire Just For Men product Lines with EXTREME caution ... and better yet NOT at ALL.
I have used JFM for about a month and then all of acsudden "wham!" A MEGA RASH with itching, burning sensations. I quickly saw a dermatologist who thought I wan nuts to use JFM. I had to take cortisone by mouth and cortisone ointments. Never again. If there is a collective lawsuit i'm in. Health Canada, get this product off the shelvesbquickly.
I used it twice...a couple of years apart. I did the test spot and had no reaction. When I put it on my scalp, I had "stretching" and tightening of the skin around my scalp and forehead. Then I got pus blisters in my scalp very similar to bad sunburn. Is there an organic hair dye for men that is not so chemically laced that it won't cause a reaction?
I used this product for the first and last time ever. I did the testing prior to actually dyeing then three days later woke up to my scalp and face on fire and itching like mad. There was puss running down my face from my scalp as the days past this had spread now my face, ears head and eyes were swollen so badly and the puss was all over my entire head and face. Since then I have developed rashes from top of my head across my ears down my neck, covering my shoulders, my chest, as well as my back, under both arms and all over my arms, also covering my belly, my entire back down to and all over my b**t and engulfing my privates and still yet creeping down both legs. After four ER visits I, m still getting even worse reactions. My right under arm has now gotten several big lumps that are so swollen and painful I cannot bear to touch them nor can I lift my arm it is so painful. As if it isn't already bad enough my right ear has swollen shut and inside it continues to swell and the pain is unbearable so at this very moment I'm waiting on my wife to come and take me to the ER for my fifth visit. I'm terrified. How much more swelling will happen to the inside of my ear and inside my head. Will this go to my brain? Antihistamines, steroids and medicines for diffuse urticaria aren't helping and I'm being told by the Dr.s that this is now going to be a chronic situation, I don't have money and cannot afford all this treatment and hospital bills. One thing I know for sure though is that nothing on the box or paperwork that came with the dye prepared me for this. The Combe Corp is totally aware of these severe reactions to JFM and are still advertising and selling this product please lets get together ans stop them before one of us dies from being ignorant to the side effects of this product and lets make them pay our expenses we incurred and pain and suffering we endured because they did not inform us of the serious consequences from using JFM.
I have used the product for years at least 10 and when used properly find it is a great product has never given me any problems. It is a timed product so not sure if you follow directions to the letter but I do without any problems. Am amazed at the complaints when I have had no problems in at least 10 years and love the product. I have recommended it to probably 5 friends and they have never had any problems - I do always emphasize to follow the directions because it is chemicals and you can't just put it on and leave it longer than recommended with any type of chemicals.
Yes, I have to agree with what I am reading about burning sensation, I like this product "Just for Men" as it's quick and has done a good job for years (Over 15 years). Never had a reaction, now I do get some burning, to me it feels like ingrown hairs. Many have not mentioned the product is not as good as it use to be. Years ago the color would stay until the new hair pushed it away. Now the dye wears off on the hair that was dyed; something has changed in the product. My thought is MONEY, if a product works to well, the sales will not be as high. It takes my beard about 4 days before I need another application, so that is under two applications a week. A good CEO executive would request a chemical change so it's needs to be applied more often. The cost of producing the product probably also needed improvement for profit sake. As a result we have a new product many of us have not used before. I will be looking for another product as JFM has dominated the market and I feel are making changes to make more profit - it's 2016 - who's not doing this.
Dido...Been 15 days now and my mustache still feels like it was glued to my lip. Horrible! I'm up for a law suit!
I used the hair product 2 weeks ago on a thursday. It burned as I applied it to my head. Three days passed before my face swolle up and the blissters with pus ozzing showed up. After going to urgent care they wash my hair with some type of stripping shampoo and a steroid shot. It's still itching and burning like crazy with the ozzing pus. I'm going to my Primary care tomorrow and see about antibiotics for infection due to my swollen lympnods.
Like many men on this board Im currently in agony as we speak I'm lying in bed with a towel over my pillow to catch the excess leakage from the blisters that reside all over my face ..HOW is this product allowed to be sold ..did anybody at just for men actually test this?
Like many of you too I didnt link the problem to the dye ..2 weeks ago I applied just for men on my beard felt it to be more itchy than normal (as I've used it for 3 years now) but shrugged it off however the constant itching made me scratch too deep to which I got Impetigo ..I finally get rid of that nightmare then apply some just for men and its like 2 hours later I feel the burning 4 hours later face is red raw ..went to the doctors and they prescribed me fucidic cream and flucloxicillin (spelling) the same treatment for the impetigo I had ..I have a thick beard so its very hard to work in and what with the leaking of all the sores my face is literally dripping ..this is the fun I'm having right now.
I'm self employed and have already lost over £400 with the impetigo (which I'm blaming JFM For) how long did the weeping from the sores stop for everybody here ..I could deal with the itch but trying to sleep with a leaking face is hard :(
they changed the formula because they were losing too much $$. Ppl were using the dye a little at a time and leaving it in and their stock tanked, look at their performance in the last 2 years. They said its ok to go all out and save the company and profits or tank.
I have/HAD used this on and off for 15 years, doing it exactly as the instructions say every time. They changed. Something in the ingredients I think. I used it 3 days ago, and am having a horrible reaction! I went to the doctor today, aside from the burn, I have an infection, both outside and in my blood. I was prescribed a steroid dose pack for swelling, and a strong antibiotic. I'm itching, have a cough, a fever, and watery itching eyes. I'm also required to miss two days of work! The doctor attributes this to the product. A lawsuit needs to be filed, I have researched and have found a lot of the same people with the same problems I'm having, some have even been hospitalized. This stuff is going to kill somebody if something isn't done!
