No answer from Liebherr after two messages to the company in the US and Germany - Can you help?
I have purchased a Liebherr fridge (29 inches wide) in July 2008 and it is now the second time I have issues with the product.
- the door handles broke again. We have no kids no it is not a question of misuse. A friend of ours has a similar product and never experienced the same issue.
- the plastic joint around the doors ensuring an hermetic closing of the door is borken on two spots. I had to put duck tape to ensure that it did not rip open further.
- The plastic cover on top and on the bottom of each door has broke in small pieces as if the plastic had cooked. It also broke in two on the top of the bottom door. The same friend does not experience this issue
- The door was adjusted by people sent by Liebherr (my fridge was apparently from a serial number with a defect) a while ago but the top hinge is still a little loose while to bottom hinge seems to go though the door give the weight of the door. As explained, above the plastic above this bottom hinge came off.
- the water tank overflows regularly.
- the freezer stopped once for no reason. We had to through away all the food.
I assume that the warranty is not applicable any more following an earlier call to the support service for your company in NYC.
However, another friend of mine, working for a consumer magazine (where they compare appliances and rate them) insisted I wrote to you so you knew about it and could take action.
I am so angry and desperate about this. Angry b/c I assumed Liebherr was the best brand on the market and my experience shows it is not the case. Desperate b/c I paid premium price for the worst experience in terms of appliance purchase.
Obviously, I would like you to come take a look and see what can be done to compensate me for such a bad experience with Liebherr. Also, I am considering sending this mail to the new york consummer protection agency, as well as the Verbraucherschutzminister in Germany.
I would greatly welcome your suggestions and offer and I attach a series of six photos to show you the issue as well as the invoice from PC Richards

Liebherr doesn't back up their products flaws. The egg cover on mine kept flying off when I opened the door. After repairing it with glue several times, I gave up. They'll only replace it for $50, but can't or won't give me an explanation of how to make it stay on . There's no obvious way that the smaller cover for the butter never flies off, and they're designed the same. Pretty [censored]ty attitude about backing up a $3000 product.
