Non-delivery of product, lack of any customer service
I used to love this company and had ordered many times in the past, not now.
I placed an order on September 20, 2020 for some beautiful archival boxes. I was charged $142.84. Since then I have called twice, left a message the first time. The second I just got a busy signal which usually means they don't want to be bothered. I have emailed twice but no follow up.
Their website needs to be taken down.
I'd love to get the product but I've lost hope...
Order
I placed an order with this company a month ago and was charged the day I placed the order but never received a confirmation email or tracking number. I have called them almost daily but am always directed straight to a voicemail where I have left 3 messages. I've also emailed them but no one has reached back out to me. I needed the product by this week and now am left trying to find another solution. Completely fed up. Will be contacting my bank to get a refund. Do not order from this company.
order placed on march 8, 2019
I've received nothing from this company. I have followed up with emails, phone calls where I have left messages and actually spoke to a CSR yesterday. She said their server was down and she couldn't look up the order. She didn't call me back yesterday as I requested. I called again today and left another message. Still no response. Order #B77162.
I have ordered from this company before several years ago but had good service then.

no communication, no order received
Sixteen weeks ago, I ordered archival boxes from Light Impressions. Initially I was told that the manufacturer was having trouble producing the product and that my order was delayed. For the last month, I've been calling the Light Impressions customer service number requesting my receipt of payment (I was charged six weeks ago) and an update on my order. Half the time that I call, I have to leave a message which is never returned. The other half of the time that I call, I get the same woman (Dominique Robinson) who tells me that she's not in the office and can't get me my receipt or my order status. Lately, she's been telling me that her boss ("Billy") will call me back, but he never does. The topper was today's comment from Dominique that when "Billy" isn't in the office, she doesn't go in either! Plus, they use a speaker phone that produces audio feedback so that I can't even hear Dominique. I've never encountered such unprofessional and insulting customer service in my life! This company is THE WORST!
archival storage boxes
My order for approximately $100 worth of archival storage boxes was submitted more than eight weeks ago and there is still no word when the shipment will be sent. My credit card has been charged yet their toll-free "customer service" department has never answered my calls, nor responded to voice mails. I have spent well over an hour waiting on hold during five or six calls. These people are scam artists. Their website continues to list Rochester, NY as their place of business but I believe it has moved somewhere in California and been subsumed by another company--yet they continue to do business as Light Impressions Direct. Avoid doing business with these people.
This is the 1ST organization that I ever joined as a "Lifetime Member" of; in the time of 35mm. As I now been hearing that analog/35mm is coming back -- I chose to look back at who be of "Light Impressions", as 'archival' is not much respected in society anymore during the digital age.
NOW I finding out that "Light Impressions" really be of nothing anymore.
So sorry to see Light Impressions continues to deserve such terrible reviews. I did SO much business with them back in the day! They've fallen so far, very sorry to hear it's still going on.
Light Impressions has changed ownership many many times over the past 15 years, each owner preforming worse then the previous. This company is merely a distributor/online reseller and manufactures nothing. all order are drop shipped direct to customers from the related mfg., most suppliers to light impressions will not ship until they get pre payment from factory direct Mfg. ( company that owns Lightimpressionsdirect.com). Pulp Packaging inc. www.pulp-inc.com mfg's a diverse line of archival storage products, they offer there products through other on line resellers such a Printfile.com, get smart products or pfile.com, Gaylord etc. or can be purchased direct at www.nativearchival.com
Concealed communication
I called (quoted) "Light Impressions" --- as that being how I knew the company [as I categorized below], and that be how they still being listed on internet. But FDM being the name as answered. I asked to "speak to upper management." In reply, I was told by the female who originally answered the phone "There's a bad connection." To follow saying that she could not hear me. She asked for "your phone number." (mine) Expecting me to assume that I will be called back; THAT SHE DID NOT SAY OF A CALL-BACK. I would not have taken her testimony at all. (as I be with any business). Businesses that say to call back, DON'T return calls. As a common business: when I called back, the answering machine took control. This is the game that customer service of any business is protocol.
Canceled Order-No Refund
I ordered a product online which was acknowledged via email. The item was ordered with expedited shipping which was promised within 2 days. Two weeks later, I canceled the order after finding out via a call to the company that I could not receive the item by the time needed because the item was backordered until May, 2011. I was promised a refund within 2 weeks. On April 18, I was promised a refund by check by the end of April. Having not received the check, on May 2, I again called the company and was told that my refund will be issued by May 20. That's almost 2 months since cancellation! A complaint to the Better Business Bureau has gone unanswered by the company. A phone call to the company VP was not answered. Don't even think about dealing with this company!
It happened to me as well! They charged me for items they do not have. Calls unanswered for days and email not answered ever. I got hung up on when ask for refund. These people are no good. Do not shop with them. Credit card in dispute. They lost out on a very large government purchase. Stay away! BBB I will file complaint.
Order not received; cannot contact company
I ordered some matting and framing materials on Feb 23rd from Light Impressions, the total amounting to $143.00. I was sent one item which cost $9.00, but was billed for the entire order. I am unable to contact them either by phone or through their website. All I know is they said on their invoice slip "rest of the order is back-ordered). This was a simple order, invoiving items they claimed were in stock. This is a warning to anyone planning to order from Light Impressions.

I placed an order in June of 2010. Only part was ever shipped but I was billed for the whole amount. I was orginally told those items were on back order. Then in December, 2010, a supervisor called me to tell me that the items woulds ship, but as he was looking at the items, he realized that they would not. Thus began my talks with customer service. I have not used the automated return phone call. I just camp out on the phone until someone answers. I have spoken to Mona twice. She is pleasaant and apologizes when her phone disconnects me. Norma just asks that you not yell at her and that she is sincerely trying to help. Larry Proctor provides his last name and assures you that the refund is in the mail (for some reason an American Express charge cannot be directly refunded), but when I called over a month later, Mona informed me that nothing had been done on my account, but she had handled it and I would have a refund in 30 days. I am not holding my breath. Now that I have found this web page, I would recommend registering a complaint with the Federal Trade Commission so at least the internet scam this company is conducting can be shut down. Oh, and supervisor, "Taylor"? He must come in late, leave early and take a 3 hour lunch. If he hadn't called me, I would not have known he actually is a real person.
Ordered $300 worth of goods over 1 year ago. Asked to cancel order and refund card. Was not done. Promised refund in check. NOT! I wait!
Failure to ship goods
I ordered three expensive but very nice archival grade scrapbook sets from light impressions direct in March. The sets include a three-ring binder, cover slip case, large pages, and backer inserts.
To date, they have still not completed the order and email requests for and ETA or information go unanswered. When I ordered in March, all items were in stock. I haven't heard from them at all in seven months other than a reply to one (of many ETA requests) that the items shipped that week. Unfortunately, it still wasn't the complete order!
Don't work with LID if you are in a hurry and prefer a hassle-free life.
Follow Up (12/20/2010). Nine of the items I ordered in March 2010 for over $100 are "still on backorder until late January 2011". They charged my card for the complete “in stock” order in March 2010. You could go to their website today and place an order for the B/O items. They lie.
I've received no follow-up messages from them about the back order status unless I ask, and then, only occasionally.
They do business as CenturyPhoto.com, LightImpressionsDirect.com, and several others under the umbrella of newcenturydirectbrands.com.
I don’t believe they should be in business.

Experienced the same treatment on an order I placed at the end of May. They immediately charged my credit card without shipping product. When I called to ask about my order and shipment date they explained that the product I ordered (and was charged for) was on BACKORDER! I asked to have my ordered cancelled and my money refunded. They said they would do that, but did not. All email inquiries and request via phone were ignored. do NOT deal with this company. They do not practice good business (in my opinion)
canceled order not refunded
I ordered some glass from this company on January 6. My check card was immediately charged $65.35. But, nothing arrived. I called several times - no one ever answers. I sent several emails that went without response. Finally on the 26th I got someone on the line who told me my items were backordered (they couldn't tell me sooner?) so I cancelled the order. I am still waiting for the original charge to be refunded. I've tried calling them everyday for over a week and no one ever answers. Now even the "call back" option doesn't work.
The complaint has been investigated and resolved to the customer’s satisfaction.
What Nightmare! I too ordered $200 worth of mat board in Dec 2010. They said it was on back order, and if I cancelled now I would "lose my place in line " and it would put me back even further. The next excuse I got didn't jive - now they claimed the main cutting plant has closed up. I too had received items from them before, so I did not panic. But In March of 2011, I officially canceled my order. I have spoken to many persons - Mona several times and Tony Clarke the supervisor, who promised I would have my check in July, then in Aug. The story now was that the accounting office was behind! As you can see I'm one of the fish who got suckered in - I'm on unemployment and they have my $200. ! I will keep on pursuing this, as well as file with FTC.

In July 2010 I ordered $101. worth of goods from Light Impressions. The money was charged to my account. A year later after difficulty reaching anyone I cancelled the order and was told I would get a refund which never materialized. The worst is that they continue to advertise despite not having any of the goods they advertise. What the heck? I have done business with LI since they were a warehouse in Rochester. I am really angry.

I think I have all of you beat. I have been awaiting a refund from this fraudulent company since December 2009. I've contacted them repeatedly and on the very few occasions when I've actually spoken to a human being, promises about getting me my refund, but they have only been lies. I am ashamed to say that I haven't filed a complaint with the Federal Trade Commission, but that is about to change today. As they are committing fraud across state lines, this makes what they're doing a federal offense.
So, ALL OF YOU, FILE A COMPLAINT HERE WITH THE FEDERAL TRADE COMMISSION. SOMEONE NEEDS TO GO TO PRISON FOR WHAT IS OBVIOUSLY DELIBERATED, ONGOING THEFT OF ALL OR OUR MONEY! HERE IS THE LINK:

THE MORE OF US FILE COMPLAINTS, THE MORE LIKELY WE'RE GOING TO SEE SOMEONE PROSECUTED.
I placed an order with this company in August, 2010. After waiting for months to receive the order, I finally started contacting the company to see what the hold-up was. Boy did I get the run around. After canceling the order and months of back -and- forth communication with whomever I could reach by phone, I finally wrote a letter to the president of the company. I received an email immediately stating that my refund would be mailed within 3-7 weeks. The reason was the company was behind. That was July 25, 2011. I sent another email a few weeks ago and no has ever bothered to respond. The problem is that they pre-billed my university credit card. I have never had a problem like this and I am at my wits end. Very frustrating ordeal!
Light Impressions used to be great, but Same thing happened to me. Placed an order last Sept (2010) and nothing, said it was coming within a month for about 5 months. Finally, I cancelled the order in April 2011. We will send a check within a month, nothing! Called, told them I was calling the attorney general, nothing! I did file a complaint with the attorney general., Still not heard anything after over a year of waiting. What gets me is that they are still sending e-mail advertisements, DO NOT ORDER from these folks.
Heck of a way to run a business! I also ordered $371 worth of mat boards (best board ever) and they were back ordered for 4 months. My card was charged immediately. I cancelled the order and was told my card would be refunded. i assumed that would be the case since this company had been so great to me in the past. Once I realized that the refund was not made I called. After over an hour on ringing hell (where your estimated wait time is eternally 2 minuted 15 seconds), the guy said a check would be mailed to me within 10 days. Not! I am waiting for the supervisor's call. Not holding my breath. If I worked there I certainly would not leave any of my personal stuff on the premises.
If I walked out of their store (back when they had one) with $371 worth of stuff I would be sitting in a small room with a cot and a pot. These guys are still bilking innocent and ignorant folks out of their money and it would almost be worth mine to see them eat it. Next call is to the California Attorney Gen. Thanks, Dana Davis PS, Santa Fe Springs was the home of the bogus Santa Fe Springs Oil Co which was a stock fraud scam during the 1930's. I inherited 100 shares worth of paper.
Same old story from these jokers...canceled order due to no stock and credit card was charged anyway ($158.00) in April 2011. No product, no refund, no communication, even after complaints to BBB and Federal Trade Commission.
Same story as above. Order for archival boxes placed 5/25/11. On each call to learn status of order, reps said items "on backorder." On 7/5/2011 a company rep named Larry called us to say archival boxes were available and would be shipped "today" (July 5, 2011). Our credit card was charged for full amount $506.82. No merchandise was shipped. Subsequent calls (when answered, and after long hold persiods) inform us the material is still on "back order." We canceled the order and contacted credit card company to dispute and also filed complaint with California attorney general office. - Dennis Wilhelm
I too have been taken by this company. I ordered$80.15 worth of merchandise in August 2010 and the charge was posted to my credit card on Aug 30th. I got the same type of run-around with various excuses the several times I called to check. I canceled my order on April 20th with the response that they would not credit my card but send a refund check. No surprise that I have not received a check (today's date is July 12th). I started saving the email solicitations from LI and since early April, there have been 10 email solicitations with the latest sent out on July 6th. Soliciting new business without honoring old business obligations sure sounds like some kind of fraud to me (28 years as a contract litigation paralegal). I'm not sure how much energy I want to spend on this, but I certainly would like to give my documentation to someone who could use it. Susan in Ohio.
Our order was for $316.74 on 12/20/10 and our credit card was charged immediately. We were never told it the items were "back-ordered". We waited for the products but finally cancelled the order on 5/11/2011 and are still awaiting a refund as of today 6/21/10. Why could our credit card be charged immediately, yet a refund is so hard to process? FRAUD.
