Good concept. Horrible execution
Apps like this drive me crazy. "Hey, we have a good idea, let's charge and arm and a leg for it!"
Even worse, the free trial is so limited that my toddler was barely playing for 10 minutes! That's not enough time to discern whether or not a learning app is actually going to be beneficial to your child.
I've read the reviews. The developers response is always "we understand that our pricing doesn't work for most family"
If it doesn't work for most families, then why continue? You could make more money by lowering your barrier to entry and then you'd probably get more subscriptions. It just seems like a money grab to me.
Listen, if you want to waste $15 a MONTH , then go for it. otherwise, I hope this developer comes up with a better monetization plan.
Love for Both Kids
We got Lingo Kids Unlimited for our 2 1/2 year old daughter after trying a free subscription and seeing how much both she and our 5 1/2 year old son loved it. It’s 100% toddler friendly. It is completely intuitive for a small child to understand and navigate through the menu of games and shows and very easy for a child who is new to using an ipad and still developing fine motor skills to use without much assistance from a parent or older sibling.
Speaking of older siblings, although our 5 1/2 year old’s level of knowledge is far above the content of the app, he still really enjoys it as well and naturally wants to sit with his little sister and “teach” her and quiz her. This is an added bonus for our children as it gives them an opportunity to work cooperatively as a team.
Waste of time
I have T-Mobile Tuesday which gives free things once a week. So this Tuesday Lingo-kids was one of the freebies. I was supposed to get 2 free months unlimited for free. However when I subscribed for it I was only granted 7 days for free. That’s not enough time for me to do anything! I have kids doing virtual school all day, and plus I work. I am writing this review because I tried looking for a customer’s service number to call them, so that I may honor my 2 months rewards unlimited access to everything, but to my surprise there’s no number to call. You can only email. What a waste of time. I logged in to see the features and it was only basic games. I didn’t even see where you can help your child learn a different language and that’s the only reason I was even remotely interested.
Refreshing
It is such a positive refreshing app. I have not seen an app with all these nice songs and fun educational games. I have two kids and I bought the membership for my little daughter. My older is seven years old and I tried every single app in the book you can ever imagine when she was little(I wish Lingokids app was around). But this lingo app is different and fun. You can leave your kid on this app with a piece of mind that they are learning while they are playing!
My kids are way too advance in their school ( I have my older in a private school) for their ages so they skip two grades. I spend a lot of time in their education at home and it pays off. So from an experienced mom in the field of early education, try this app and believe me you will sing the songs, play the games with your kid, and your kid is learning with ease! It is a lot of fun
Horrible app needs fixing now
First of all I tried to freaking get my email in and it won’t let and when I refreshed it it wouldn’t let type in my actual password and is telling to change number no I’m not changing my password for a stupid app number two every time I get it’s giving another reason to rest my entire gmail which again I’m not going to do I’m very Unsatisfied by this app and I don’t trust it for kids if the start of it is extremely horrible please fix this if you want me to still have a little bit of hope for this app I am extremely mad and disappointed on how this turned out this app made me spend so much time on it and it was so joy worth it im only hoping they fix this is because of my child’s she wants to play this app very badly and so I’m not going to fall for a Gmail scam either you guys fix this or I’m going to forget about this app have nice rest of your day.
Confused
My son loves lingo kids because of the songs and it’s the only time he gets to play on my phone or iPad. He’s 2 it’s easy enough for him and catchy. However I’m a bit confused where y’all get the idea that this app is worth 14.99 a month. Because well, it’s not. That’s very steep and the only reason we came to this app is because it was advertised as FREE during the quarantine. What you failed to mention was that it’s only free for 7 days then you plan to charge more than ever learning app on this platform. ABC mouse charges less and you learn FAR more from that. But you also advertise it as free. Once your week trial is over their learning is limited to nearly nothing and it becomes OVERLY repetitive they stop having fun they stop wanting to use your app and we find new ones that are cheaper and more fun. Hope you 14.99 is worth it because your app will slowly start to be deleted off of phones as it has mine.
Ok BUT not for babies & costs after a week
My little 7 mo loves watching Hey Bear videos on YouTube. This ad popped up several times and I decided to try out the app. It seemed like it would have fun songs, more than your usual nursery rhymes.
Well, I found out that the songs are creative like I thought. However, there is not a playlist of videos all in a row together, there is interaction in between. This is great for older kids! I definitely don’t think kids should veg on phones or tv’s for too long. But, for my little baby who needs some fun songs playing while I cook dinner or do dishes, the learning lessons go right over her head.
I also didn’t like how it was promoted as free, and then you’re told after a week you have to pay a monthly subscription of $15 or more. So don’t forget to cancel it before your week is up if you want it free!
I knew in just a few hours that I didn’t need the app. So definitely only get it if you want to pay for it and have kids 3 and up.
A bit expensive for what it is
My child received a targeted ad at some point from another app she was using (which I thought I had disabled but...) for this so she begged me to get the app for her. The ‘not so free’ trial is an absolute joke as it is severely limited so you are almost forced to buy a subscription to see if the app is even worth it. The free version? Again severely limited so you are forced to pay. I have no issue with paying for an app - we’ve paid for many, but I’m sorry to say but $14.99 a month is ridiculous. To not offer even some break if someone wishes to get a year subscription? Also ridiculous. Other child friendly apps are not charging this ridiculous amount, not even ABC Mouse. Giving it 2 stars only because my child seems to like it. But you need to consider working class parents - especially during a pandemic when money might be a little tight.
So in short - if you are rich and have unlimited funds to burn, then sure, buy the app. Otherwise, don’t even bother.
Tried to steal money from my account several times!
I thought this would be a great app for my son to play games and learn, but it says when you download it that it’s a free trial for a month, and it tried to charge me after a few DAYS!
My son doesn’t sit around on tablets and phones all day. I let him use my phone to play educational games when we’re going for a car ride, so he only got to play a couple times for a few minutes.. then it started trying to charge my card for $16.23 ALMOST EVERY DAY for almost 2 weeks, until I just called Apple support and they figured out that Lingokids has been trying to steal money out of my account (after over an hour on the phone with them trying to figure out where this charge was even coming from!)
I would have gladly paid for the app if it had actually been a month (not a few days!) and if my son had a chance to play it and see if he liked it, but I will NOT allow anyone to lie and steal from me!
I definitely don’t trust this app, and I definitely will be detouring others from buying this app!
Sounds keep cutting out - very disappointing
I kept seeing ads for Lingokids on YouTube so decided to try it out for my 2.5 year old that’s at home full time since COVID. Seems pretty educational and has catchy songs (ABC’s) so I downloaded the app and added it to my kid’s iPad. Only to be hugely disappointed that the sound keeps going out every time she opens the app to use it. She starts to jump up and down during the ABC’s in excitement just to have the sound cut off after letter C. Same happened with a couple games and lessons. That defeats the whole experience of learning in a fun way AND to pay for a halfway working app. Def not my idea of how I want to spend my hard earned money every month. Thank God for trials because I’m on day 6 and will regrettably not be purchasing the use of this app after all. :-( there is too many other apps competing for my money to add another thing to stress about. Btw I tried the app on my phone and same was happening plus all other apps and sound plays fine on her tablet. So I tried troubleshooting.
New user
For starters...it took me awhile to find a place where I can just check out letters.
Then it is very unclear how to find hidden letters and in the instance I choose, I was never able to find the “l” so I had to quit before finding it...if it were a 5 year old looking for the “l” I would have quit long before I (the adult) would have.
It is very unclear where to get started..
It is not user friendly to have only reading level 1. Why can’t I find all the levels and decide where I can start my child before having to go through all level 1 to get to level 2...?
I went to printable songs...you don’t tell us to what real tune do the words in your songs go to...so how am I supposed to know the melody for each of your songs? I needed a clue for the melody that corresponds to the lyrics.
I am frustrated and I am an adult that should be able to navigate this App quickly and be able to understand how it is organized
I mean...that I probably won’t keep this App...thank goodness it is only a couple of dollars to try it.
In that application I pay and then continue to charge more and more and I don't like that children can authorize it and Lingokids makes it automatic.
And I already searched the geogle and apple platform and I can't find it and they keep charging 14.99 every month without my authorization but I don't know how they did it and I don't know how to cancel it. This application is very difficult to deactivate the membership when you no longer want it. I really don't know how to do it. Please someone help me because they keep taking my money from my account
It is a very complex application, you always have to pay for everything the child does
I know nothing
In the episode potatoes Baby bot thinks the potato is a rock! Is it a rock? No! He shouldn’t called it a rock. so at the end of the video He changed his mind. And he said “and know it’s time for rock… and roll.” In the episode Music Baby bot kept interrupting the music. He thought The chicken was crying but the chicken was singing. So He said after that “I know nothing… And the Porgecter man took him out after he Said But I can learn!” Then he was sad cause he was a machine! And Elliot Was saying You are not a machine you are a baby bot! And he went one more time. In the episode Moon, Baby bot and cowy thought someone is eating the moon. And billy said Nobody is eating the moon. It’s in the crescent section. The moon orbits every Month and when it orbits,It is changing shape so that means a Piece is missing. But not Full moon. When it’s completely dark it’s a new moon. In the episode Digestion Both Baby bot and Elliott were watching a movie. They got into the monsters body and they got to step 1 chewing. Step 2 was when baby bot was falling down the food pipe. Step 3 was in the stomach. Step 4 They both got into the small intestine step 5 is the twist and loops and step 6 is that they traveled through the colon. In the episode taste Elliott tried Metal. It was disgusting! The end is when he made baby bot flavor.
Scam or faulty?
DONT GET RIPPED OFF GUYS! I bought this app for my autistic son after he was watching a catchy abc song in an advertisement on you tube. I did everything correctly and it just wouldn’t work I still only had access to the free version of the app, we wanted all the content and have been paying $14.99 a month. I contacted customer service and they had me uninstall and reinstall. The email and everything was right they said it happens sometimes. I figured it worked and my son was on the app occasionally. I got charged every month. Because this wasn’t YouTube I didn’t monitor the app to close, I decided to check it out and realized that despite months and months of being charged we’ve only had the free version despite it being logged in under the correct email. The same email attached to my iCloud where I’m charged. So they have charged me about $100 so far and my non verbal 3 year old has only been able to use the content they give out for free TO NON-SUBSCRIBERS What did they do when I contacted them to let them know about their faulty app you may ask? Told me to reinstall. When I told them Iv done that and it still didn’t work “Aura” (tech person) sent me the same copy/paste thing about reinstalling. When I responded explaining again she just ignored me multiple times.
Iv seen the paid version and it’s only about 20 different abc music videos and a few games. It’s really not worth the money anyway but my son liked the song. THIS APP IS NOT WORTH IT AND THEIR TECH SUPPORT IS AWFUL it’s like once they realized they were getting paid they didn’t care. I say choose speech blubs. It has WAY more content for about the same price and helps your kind learn. Good luck in your app journey my friends.
Content: good for our bilingual 3.5-yr-old. Subscriptions: finicky and annoying
Tried it at 2 years old. She wasn't interested. Tried it again recently and she was singing and learning words. Her mom is trying to give her a second native language and we're going to live in the US so I'm giving English the backseat. She's weaker than your average native English speaker but has a broad linguistic base. At her age and level the difficulty and content finally caught her attention and now she asks for it first.
I tried the free subscription trial. She said she got bored after a few days so I cancelled before it ran out. A week or so later she was singing the song from the app. I made her sign a contract to play actively when she uses the app in exchange for paying for the subscription month to month. Trusting she would follow through and wanting to save some money I decided I would do the 1-year subscription, listed in the in-app purchases on the app store. In the app I was being offered a free month this time. Okay, sure. I would get one more free month before re-upping to the year. Nope. After getting the in-app purchase which was explicitly advertising a free month, I was immediately charged for a month. Okay fine. I only get one free trial. That's fine. Contacted apple, cancelled that and immediately changed my subscription to the year. The cancellation hadn't gone through yet so it said the year would start when the month ended. Okay, maybe I did get the free month in the end? A couple days later the cancellation goes through. Kid picks up the app and we're pay-walled. I look and see that the year subscription disappeared too. Okay fine. Via app store I try getting the one year. It. Won't. Work. The only way I an get it to work (while the kids is waiting) is to sign up for the monthly subscription from the app. I'm going to try this song and dance again so I can get the year subscription.
The point. If you are going to offer a year subscription, why is it nowhere to be seen in the app or on the website? If you're not, then why is it still an option here?
One more point for losing stars. I can't sync accounts to another device, despite having paid currently for 13 months. You need a restore purchases option. My device is premium, but my wife's is basic.

High cost of app per month!
Most kids learning apps cost money, that’s fine. But $14.99 A MONTH is ridiculous. They are charging way over what every other app is and it’s really not fair to kids who enjoy their content.
I cancelled my subscription because I just couldn’t justify the cost.
When they do offer discounts you have to pay upfront for the year instead of per month… personally I’m not going to pay $80 for a kids app!
Desired outcome: They need to offer their “discounted” rates for per month not per year. No one wants to pay $80 upfront for an app.
Unknown charges
I downloaded the free trial to see if my daughter would actually like it she’s 50/50 on it . So I canceled the free trial subscription, but I then received a 16 dollar charge on my card , my daughter didn’t purchase or buy anything from in the app. I thought maybe I didn’t cancel it in time, no it was in time and the monthly subscription isn’t 16 dollars so I don’t know why they charged me now I have to request a refund . So beware of charges because they will charge you for something and not give you a answer as to why

Nope. Regretting this
15 bucks a month is a lot for this app. I’m still in my free trial and I’m trying to cancel my subscription, but the app won’t let me until they can verify my name and relation to my child. First of all, that’s so fishy. Second of all, it should take less than a second to verify it. The app itself has trouble loading and is very slow. I found similar apps (that are free) to work much more smoothly. Now I have to try to figure out how to unsubscribe before I can delete this. So frustrating. I don’t want to spend time doing this. Buyer beware.

Really not that good
I am using the free one week trial for my daughter, who is five years old, and so far not impressed. It’s just a lot of videos that you could just watch on YouTube. The games are limited and not that educational as I was hoping for. We have Duolingo kids, and feel that it is better at teaching her how to read and write. I would have to say sadly pass on this as a learning app, unless your child has a very bad learning disability. If not, they will lose interest in it very quickly, maybe they will improve this and I will purchase it for my daughter.

Great app.if it worked properly
Having the same issues like with a few people regarding the subscription system. We’ve paid for the month yet it still doesn’t seems to unlock everything. Another issue is the app seems like to be formatted for the newer phones with Face ID. We’re using an older iPhone 7 Plus for my toddler and the games get cropped off on the sides. There should be a disclaimer for this? Other than that, the content and games are what to be expected and are very engaging but my it’s frustrating that it’s not as straightforward as it should be. Very disappointing

Won’t let me unsubscribe
It is a bit suspicious and frustrating that the whole app works fine but when I try to unsubscribe the page glitches and reads “something went wrong”
Do now I risk not unsubscribing? And getting charged if I am not able to figure it out.
They have a 7 day free subscription. I tried it for one day. Decided it is not the right program for my child. And the app glitches when it comes down to the unsubscribe page. Yet every other page works fine
I suggest you all really pay attention to these elements. Frustrating and a waste of time for a simple task

Problem
Hello, not sure why I can’t access some items on your app. It keeps asking to upgrade to unlimited even if I’ve paid just for that. I was charged $14.99 for unlimited subscription for one month. Why can’t I use it? Accept i misunderstood what you meant by “unlimited” please fix the problem. I subscribed for unlimited and I was charged yet it keep requesting me to upgrade to unlimited. And even when I make an attempt to subscribe again then it notifies me that I’m currently running on unlimited subscription. Please help me. It redirects me back and forth and it’s frustrating.

Not developmentally appropriate
I have a 1-year-old who hasn’t started speaking yet. Though the app asked me for her age, I don’t feel as an educator and parent that many of the activities are appropriate for a child who isn’t producing any words yet. Many of the activities use speech that’s too fast, or the content is above what a new toddler needs to know (alphabet and numbers should be for preschoolers- it’s too much for my little one right now.) There are a few decent activities in here, but if you’re going to pay almost $15 for a subscription, my thought is the activities need to be tailored more to your kid.

Not working correctly
I’m not sure what’s happening with the app but I’m super frustrated right now! I purchased it sometimes last week, and during the 7 day trial it only allows you to play 3 game’s a day. Well, my trial is over and it’s still only allowing me to play 3 games a day unless I sign out and sign back in which is absolutely ridiculous and extremely annoying. Once I sign back in, same thing. Only allows me to play 3 games at a time and then have to sign back out again and do it all over again.
Developer - please reach out to me. I’d like a refund if this issue isn’t going to be fixed!
Thanks!

Got Charged and can’t get full access
I really liked this app for my son so I bought the month subscription with the free trail today . And it charged me right away . I thought it was okay since I was planning to keep it but then I could not click on the next activities because the wanted me to go unlimited. I thought that was what I bought . So I canceled it . And went back to see the option again to purchase . Then it said after today I can purchase it again for $14.99 for unlimited access for a month . So I actually didn’t get anything for my money . I would appreciate to have someone from customer service help me out on this one .

Confusing
When I signed up it gives you two options. Use email or continue with Apple email (mind you it’s the same email that I would have used). Anyway, I chose the Apple route and it gave me an email from the app itself which you can’t check if you requested for a password and now my child can not use it on her iPad. So, I re signed up using the email method that way I can get a password for multiple electronic usage and since the other account (again same email) is already in use, I can no longer have access to unlimited usage, and now it says to upgrade but you can’t upgrade because the email is already in use. SMH.

Rating
Thought I saw that this app was going to be great. They advertised letting kids use this app for free since all kids are home presently. My kid played this app for about 6 mins and then said my kid has reached his limit for today and requested payment. I don’t even know if he learned anything in those 6 mins but I think I’m trashing this app and going with another. Sorta felt bate and switch. Thanks lingo kids for advertising a free app “since most kids are home all day and need to learn from home now” and then trying to charge for it. I’ll pay for an app that dose not advertise free service. What a waste of time!

Buyer Beware
Buyer beware! My daughter loves the LingoKids app, but to pay $14.99 per month for an unlimited membership (about $180 per year) is outrageous. They have an annual subscription of $59.99 per year, but the app never allows you to activate it. When you try to activate the unlimited membership, the app instead cancels the annual membership & forces you to take the $14.99 per month to get unlimited access. Virtually all Apple apps offer you the option to restore your subscription, but not this one because it appears the developers are intentionally doing this to make more money. Otherwise there is no reason for this to happen.

Canceling is a headache
They make canceling your subscription a headache. When I already canceled the free trial, it still charged me a subscription for a month. I go to cancel the subscription but the help links don’t work nor does it offer an option to even cancel. Just to choose another subscription service. Pretty much scamming you to buying a service that you can’t cancel. Even tried to remove my payment card but I couldn’t even do that bc I have a subscription that needs a payment. This is an inconvenient process and I am completely disappointed and dissatisfied on how they do business. Do not buy unless your committed to a lifetime bc they don’t give you options to cancel.

No support
I purchased this app for 2 months (as a trial before I buy for the year) for my son. One week into the second month, I was being asked to repurchase. I went through their help online to delete and reinstall. When that didn’t work, I sent an email as per their advice online. No one bothered to even respond to my email.
So I guess as long as you don’t encounter any issue, you’ll be fine but as soon as you do, you’re on your own.
I moved on to another app and I must say, we’re both happier with the new app because it’s more structured and even cheaper.
I didn’t recommend lingo kids to the parents of my daycare and I won’t recommend it to anyone ever again.
