MerchantCircle Free business listing

I have requested multiple times, or for many months, for my business listing be removed from their website because the business has long been permanently closed and all information listed is invalid.

I never get a response from a person nor is the issue submitted on the contact submission page, ever resolved.

There is no easy account recover options for me to delete the account myself. As I mention the account is old and the business is no longer in operation.

Desired outcome: I would like my business listing removed/deleted from there website.

MerchantCircle they didn't reply within 6 months already

The company www.merchantcircle.com lease domains for monthly fees and I have used their services. I paid them every month, but when I really needed their help, their customer services kept silence and avoided all communication with me. I was so upset. But they kept silence within 6 months already and I wasted all hopes to get anything from this company.

MerchantCircle Stay away from these guys

I would just like to state my opinion on the case workers for the program called..."smoc"...first of all the workers here are drinking and on drugs, not all of them but certain ones that i have come in contact with..they harass and threaten their clients with ficticious storys about what they have seen and what they hear clearly it is a bunch of crap...they do not try to help anyone with the resources that the government has given to this program to help people..they want you to find an apartment but when you ask for the goverment grant to do so there is nothing to help you do this or they will not let you do it...! alot of their clients do not know anything about the law so they cant pursue this issue because they are scared that it will come back on them making them live on the streets...i myself am not a client but have a friend in this program that is scared to death to speak on it, , , they have threatened her with being in "non-compliance" and pretty much saying that she will be kicked out of the program...they may as well put these people in a jail cell because that is the way the program is run..there are rules that the kids cant even play together or have their toys aloud at the shelters which leave children to doing nothing all day..amoung many other things...i am looking into a way to deal with this problem legally but i do believe that all their workers should take a mandatory drug test with random drug tests to follow...so if you are in the program watch out and try not to "sneeze' or you will be in "non-compliance" of the rules and put out on the street.

They will NOT allow you to rate negative reviews for local businesses. That makes their review system rigged and irrelevant. Just... wrong.

We tried to post the negative reviews for the landscaping company that cheated us of a lot of money and could not. The reason we choose this landscaping company was that it only had positive reviews. It is 100% fraud! MerchantCircle.com should be responsible for the information they display.

MerchantCircle Copyright infringement

We have tried to file a DMCA takedown notice with MerchantCircle.com by emailing three different contact addresses, one of which is listed in their forum as the DMCA agent for this business, and the other two of which have links from their privacy and terms of use pages. All of the emails have bounced, and the "report" we filed through their abuse button on the infringing page has gotten no response. This is clearly an unethical business trying to avoid having to comply with federal law.

MerchantCircle Total scam

Until you purchase the Verification BADGE, there will be a link on your page that says "Is This Business VERIFIED?" It's there to make potential customers question you're legitimacy. MerchantCircle will gladly remove it, and replace it with a shiny "VERIFIED" badge that gives your potential customers the illusion that you've actually been verified. To show how shady this verification process is I'll bet anyone $1000.00 that my son's Koolaid stand could register a page on MerchantCircle, and be verified in a matter of minutes. ANYONE can pay MerchantCircle and be instantly "VERIFIED", or MerchantCircle offers free verification, however with this process, the merchant is required to complete the Verification process by supplying the required documents. In addition, MerchantCircle also requires verification with a major credit agency to complete this process. Your card will NOT be charged ;) ;) It seems MC makes the FREE option a lot more tedious.

MerchantCircle Bad Product and Bad Business Practices

Since my case with Kelly Wheeler is finally over, and yes, my appeal did get denied, I will post my story on this site so everyone can read it and judge for themselves. Mr. Wheeler took pictures for my girlfriend and me in Oct or 2008. Mr. Wheeler assured us that he could do what we wanted because he had done them before for himself and a girlfriend at some point. We paid $96 for the sitting. Approx. a week later we went back to his studio/residence @ 235 Hillcrest Dr in Reno and looked at all the pictures. We looked at all of them, even the test shots where he was focusing, etc. After we asked how we can choose which ones we wanted. He would not let look at the pictures he took more than that one time. Meaning, we had to decide which ones we wanted right there, after seeing them once on a slideshow. He was really squirrely and child like at this point of the transaction. We convinced him, given a digital age, to print out thumb nails of all the pictures so we could pick out which ones we wanted. We did, found a few we liked, most were mediocre. We then realized he was one of those cheesy high school senior photo style photographers. More power to him, he found his niche.

We went back to Mr. Wheeler’s residence/studio and had him put the 10 we wanted on a CD. Getting him to do this was like pulling teeth. He is very archaic in his methods. I think this is his way to ensure you have to buy prints from him. He charged my credit card $106 for 10 pictures on a CD. We were so over Mr. Wheeler by this point, we just wanted to be done. We get home and look at the pictures we had just bought for $106 and they were 6 KB big. Small. Tiny. Worthless. He charged us $106 for thumb nails. I called Mr. Wheeler that day and he said “…Oh, well.” I asked for a refund, he declined. He said, I should have specified that I wanted them big enough to see. His defense is that if he makes them bigger, we could have printed them and he wouldn’t make any money. Fine, but then don’t charge someone over $100 for pictures they can’t use. Let’s just say he acted like a baby on the phone and hung up on me.

He immediately called my girlfriend and told her that he and I had gotten into a verbal fight and that she should call him or come over so he can make it right. So, we did. She called him twice and he didn’t answer. We went over to his studio/residence per his request. He didn’t answer his door and ran out the back of his house, got into his car and tried to drive away. Like a coward. He then hit me with his car. I slammed me fists into his car yelling at him for hitting me. We called the police and wrote out our reports (Mr. Wheeler did not write a report for some reason) while Mr. Wheeler all of sudden, got super tough. He was yelling at the officers, yelling at us. At one point the officer actually told him to calm down. Funny isn’t it? This is a photographer who does senior high school portraits! He wouldn’t get out of the car earlier to talk, but once the police arrived he was one hell of a “bad-###”. The police report of this incident is amazing, if anyone wants to read it, I suggest doing it. It is public record, just as Mr. Wheeler’s arrest record (Case #08-35850 ). Anyone can get copies of both from RPD.

We took him to small claims court where he had a lawyer (remember this, because I was unaware lawyers were even allowed in small claims court). I did not. His lawyer beat the ### out of me. No joke. Tore me apart. Kelly sat there. Cowardly. Lied to the Judge about even hitting me, despite admitting it (see the police report), saying how scared he was of me and my girlfriend, and how he was trying to be a good father and leave (funny, since he is on trial now for beating his daughters) even though he left a message on my girl friend’s phone telling us to come over and fix it if needed. His lawyer did her job. She beat up someone without any legal experience at all. I am truly proud of her. She attacked the Xanax is take for anxiety (which is ironic, because the Xanax should have kept me calm), she attacked everything she could. I was literally defenseless. Of course, like Mr. Wheeler does, he sits and hides. Like a coward. He knows it and now hopefully more people do as well. The Judge ruled that my medical bills from Mr. Wheeler hitting me were my problem; his damaged car, my problem. He got lucky and had a lawyer when I did not. He won, because I w as naïve to think that morality, honesty, and integrity are still qualities people possess.

We, of course appealed. We lost. We found out after the fact about the sexual harassment, the arrests, and the child abuse Mr. Wheeler has all been guilty of. He is not a good man and everyone needs to know. His business will suffer. All these things are starting to catch up to him. My only comfort is knowing that I can write this and he will read it. I hope other people will not even take the risk of using him. I am hoping he can’t hurt his children anymore and that he won’t have any more clients to sexually harass or creep out.

Mr. Wheeler and Photoz by Kelly are awful. I have had a nightmare that almost lasted a year. I lost a lot of money dealing with one of the biggest ### in Reno. Don’t make the same mistakes I did. The only thing I regret is not doing my research first. All I had to do was google his name and I would have seen a bunch of horrible things about him; enough to detour me from even using him. Even the simple task of asking around would have been so useful. After the original incident, when I would tell people about it the minute I said the name “Kelly Wheeler”, a look would always come over their faces. It was truly amazing.

This is not slander. Check sites like Reno Justice Court for a confirmation of all court, trials, and other records pertaining to Mr. Wheeler. Go to the Reno Police Dept and obtain a copy of Mr. Wheeler’s arrest record and the police report I refer to in my statement.

Feel free to email me with any questions:

MerchantCircle Unable to Cancel rediculous account

I have been trying for 4 weeks to cancel my account through Merchant Circle. Merchant Circle I have found to be a not only not worth the money for the service. But it is easy access for your competitors to leave fake reviews and give you bad ratings as well. It is not for me and I have tried numerous times to cancel my ad yet nobody has gotten back to me nor canceled the ad. They charge $35 to call and talk to them in person! What kind of business does that?!? Do not sign up for Merchant circle unless you are the only business of your kind in the area and don't plan on ever wanting to stop advertising through them!

RUN from Merchant Circle, people! They are NOT your friend, nor a friend of your business. They're a huge time-waster and just try to get something handled properly. No phone number, email is virtually impossible to find, and when you do find it, they don't read it and send 'canned responses'. My issue? It's done nothing for me but waste my time, and now I'm having a hard time removing my company totally from their site. I get 'deal requests' from idiots who are asking for products and services we don't even offer. We're already the lowest priced and highest service in the market. TIME WASTER. I also get link requests from businesses that are not relevant to ours. TIME WASTER. I get notifications that I've gotten glowing reviews but can never find or view the review, and can't find who left it just in case I want to thank them. TIME WASTER. And then today, I tried to log on to get rid of the account? Well, first they have some inane ad on their 'front page' and then I can't log in. So I requested password reset three times. No password reset email received (and no - I don't filter spam because I don't want to accidently filter a good customer.) So then I try to write them since no phone number can be found. I get a CANNED response. They don't even read the email. Their 'online chat' support isn't available til 1 PM my time (which is 6 hrs after I started trying to remove myself from their system.) MONSTROUS TIME WASTER!

A friend of mine suffered great damage because of Merchant Circle. She had two fired employees who started a competing business, then they took on various aliases and began to leave negative reviews for her business. Merchant Circle did nothing about it.

I will continue today to try to delete my account, but in the meantime...DO NOT DO BUSINESS WITH THESE SCAMMERS! They deserve to go down. (And...I believe I'll spend some of my time today WISELY and post this same complaint everywhere I can. Hopefully it will help other businesses who have had to deal with this crap.)

Merchants should get together and try to lodge a class action against them to put them out of business for good, but we must get those businesses who have been injured by them financially to petition the federal court for a major lawsuit to payback damages and punitive awards by the court. I'm going through the same issue, now they claim I broke their policy agreement after they so called verified our business and took a payment fee and credit card number belonging to the business without our approval to withdraw future payments. To top it off merchantcicle will not allow us to login to our account. They fail to respond to any of our request. It seems they have taken over our account to which we will have to cancel our business credit card account. Something should be done about this scam website. I'm sorry for you and want you to know I have the same problem.
Every time I get the FREE listing using my business name removed within 90 days it is back up again.
Get a trademark on your business name that is what I have done. I'll be sending a request to cease and desist this time.
Also create a file of all email they send to you.
Another thing you can do is edit your page to convey that MC does not have permission to post the ad and that you are not associated with them in any form or fashion or responsible for the ads they run on the page. That may or may not get MC's attention.
After all if a client that knows you are a reputable business sees an ad at your MC page they may think that the advertiser is reputable too and that may not be the case which could in fact tarnish your reputation.
IMO:
Merchant Circle is naughty and they do not have the best interest of local small businesses in their sight but they are eyeing the wallets of small businesses.

Do Not do business with this person. He makes representations he does not fulfill, changes his story, manipulates and in the end dissappears with your money without completing work. I gave this man $25, 000 not including other materials and supplies spent out of my pocket for a large renovation project which he did not complete. His workmanship was faulty, he does not return your calls and is completely dishonest.

I am now having the work completed by another person but will have to take him to court to receive a partial refund on the monies I paid him. He talks a good talk but its all part of his game of manipulating the consumer. Do Not trust him!

MerchantCircle Merchant Coircle forges emails using clients name and email

I have had an account with Merchant Circle for several months Today, I received a phone call and email informing me that our account needed to be “Verified”. I naively provided five business contacts for verification purposes.

I was appalled to find out that within minutes, your company used my email address to send a fictitious letter ostensibly FROM ME - with my signature - to my business suppliers recommending your services.

I insisted that my website and all reference to it removed from MerchantCircle and all charges refunded immediately.

I am extremely disappointed in this company. This is beyond deceptive. I am currently exploring my options for recourse.

MerchantCircle Ignoring DNC

This company calls me at home and at church once a month with a recorded message. Both numbers are on the National Do Not Call list...but they don't care. These recorded messages say that someone has left a comment about my business and that I should go to their site and look it up. But when I go to the site, there is no such comment, plus my home is not a business. They keep calling and calling and do not leave a way to contact them. Even on thier website, it is impossible to contact a real person. This company is a SCAM!

Merchant Circle is using disgusting phone spam. Even if you call the BBB and stop it, they disregard and disrespect the BBB and your buisness by continueing to do it. They clearly have no ethics and this will eventually hurt there buisness in the long run. They have no contact #'s or e-mail addresses where you can contact them, how sleazy is that. They have the nerve to say they are a good company, yah right.

My name is Inspector David Snell and I own a 23 year old restoration company.
First of all, if you have a complaint against your insurance company you have several things that you have the option of doing.
Turn your insurance company in to [redacted] and write an article about your experience.
Turn your insurance company over to Policy Holders of America.
Turn your insurance company into your state insurance commissioner.
Write reviews about your insurance company.
Cancel your insurance with the company that is not looking out after you from your experience, if you are not happy with them.

Just some suggestions.

I would like ALL consumers out there know howwe became victims of a major scam by a restoration company who took complete advantage of us. PORTERS RESTORATION COMPANY from DYER INDIANA. owner; THE FAMOUS JOE PORTER. Beware to anyone who has a claim such as fire or water damAage. This company was paid 100, 000 (one hundred thousand ) by AAA iNSURANCE, to fix my home and they did everything wrong, from electrical work to overall repairs. It took them nearly 2 yrs.to complete the SO-CALLED job and my home is still not the way I had it before. PlEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE!, be careful when your considering these people to fix your home. There scammers. They have a history of law suits so they ARE known to some but, UNFORTUNATELY! not to enough people out there! AFTER THE SO CALLED JOB was completed, PORTERS gave me a whooping 12 month warranty. How nice of them. I've been calling them for months because of bad wiring they installed ( amoung other things )and they NEVER call back! I WISH I KNEW THAN WHAT I KNOW NOW. You see! I DIDN'T pick these crooks! The insuarance adjuster from AAA picked these scammers for me, and I didn't know I HAD A SAY SO! The adjuster from AAA LARRY QUIERRO from Dyer Indiana didn't tell me. There are other restoration company's out there who do outstanding work. Please DO NOT hire these crooks! PORTERS RESTORATION FROM DYER INDIANA ARE CROOKS! Do your own research if you have to ...PLEASE!

I am a user of Merchant Circle...

Merchant Circle is the best FREE Advertising site for small businesses on the internet.

If you paid for some internet advertising like yellow pages or something like that Merchant Circle was probably bundled in your package. I have increased my web presence using Merchant Circle.

If your info is on there because of a bundled package be thankful... they can get you to the TOP of the SEARCH Engines for FREE!

When a customer goes to your MC site and asks if you are verified as a real company... that is good...they charge a small fee for this... but what if you get a HUGE sale from it.

All I can tell you is that I am an extremly satisfied client... I just closed a HUGE deal - all from my MC exposure. So learn how it works.

Read my blog on how to Maximize Merchant Circle to build and grow your business.

Merchant circle does nothing to verify an experince with a customer and the will publish any garbage you want to write without regard to authenticity. It is nothing more than a rant site for aimless souls. They call my business incessantly and I wish they would stop. They should at least leave a response area for the business if people really read their crap before choosing a business but I'm sure they don't. Stick with the BBB they do their homework!

This company contacts me every month, I receive an automated messagestelling me, that someone found out about my company on google/yahoo. To go to their website. When I go there, they have the wrong information. My company's name is misspelled, the address is incorrect. I tried to contact them they have no email address, no phone. What's going on? MerchantCircle Fraud

Just like the others, I received a phone call, on my mobile, telling me I had received a negative review. I signed up for their free "service" to address the issue but was never able to find anything about my business. This is obviously a scam. If anyone knows which authority can address this, please let me know.

Bill's Friendly Auto service has a website. They also have review webpages below their website, sponsored by smaller companies, AKA Merchantcircle.com. I am writing in support of my best friend. She discovered the shop planted a Malicious WebAttack on her computer. Fortunately, Norton intervenes and blocks it. Norton told her it was not a virus, but an attempt at identity theft. All her info is secure. She had the police come over, they saw it on her computer, took down the report. She made 3 copies of it (off her computer for LEGAL PAPER TRAIL) for future use, if
necessary. This is not a scam. this is true and Bill knows it. It even listed his Website building company OUTOFTHEBLUE and their computer
i.d. #. Specifics. Bill wants her to move on, but he is having trouble letting go. It's creepy. His customers should be aware not to use credit or debit cards, even for gas. Just cash, if they still trust his business. George (manager [protected]) or Bill Martakis (owner [protected]). She wants this nightmare to go away. She cannot contact him. It's true and he knows it!

My company recently discovered a bogus posting on Merchant Circle, We have never heard of, nor contracted to do any work for any such individual that posted the review. Websites such as Merchant Circle, apparently have no social or moral responsibility for allowing bogus, non-substantiated and most of all unverifiable negative claims that are allowed to be posted on their website. It appears that sites such as these can harbor, childish prank comments, those of an unethical competitor seeking to better their own position, a former employee, or just a misguided mind plundering reputations of responsible business and individuals via this medium. It appears from other comments it could very well be a scam site. As a reputable contractor for over 35 yrs we have held the highest standards of the industry and those of our clientele. Thank you for reading our rebuttal and we urge anyone to be wary of any unregulated referral sites posting any review albeit positive or negative.

I'm back with another complaint. I never received anything but canned responses from these scammers, so I went on their site to remove the listing totally. Well, I went through the process - THREE TIMES NOW in the past three hours. The message I get is this: (first check my email)
# Look for a message from MerchantCircle entitled "Confirm your request to remove your business listing" to confirm your request
# Click or visit the link in the email. You must visit the link to complete the removal process. Either click the link or copy and paste the URL into your browser window.
# Login to your MerchantCircle account
# Click "Remove Listing" to complete the process.
# You will receive a confirmation message that your listing has been removed.

The email never comes. Are these people that hard up? I understand they're being sued and I can certainly see why.

(I've tried posting this before, but it disappeared in another browser. So please excuse if this ends up being a duplicate.)

I am fed up with this bogus company. I signed my business up 7 years ago. Since then, I get constant 'requests' from companies that have absolutely ZERO relevance to our business, and they're not customers. Then I get requests for 'deals' for services we don't even offer or products that have nothing to do with us. Then today, I tried to go to the site to zilch my account totally. I don't want to be associated with them. So guess what? I can't log on. They have some inane 'ad' on their front page, and I requested new password and got nothing. Now I'm getting an 'under construction' message. They just continue to waste more of my time and money.

Also, a friend of mine received a lot of negative reviews that were 'faked' by a competitor's business (who was once her employees). It was a nightmare for her trying to get her account removed.

I'm absolutely sick of these people. I hope everyone reads these reviews and STOPS DOING BUSINESS WITH THEM.

MerchantCircle Unsolicited phone calls!

I usually do not answer calls from toll free numbers or even those I do not recognize but this one called a LOT!
[protected]. My number used to belong to a business, it's now a residence. I've had this number eight years and from time to time I'd still get calls looking for the business. Three times now I've received calls with a recorded message stating my business received a positive rating on merchantcircle.com and that I should register my company there.

Each call I reported to the DNC website. The first time, I went to the website and filled out the form for my "business" to be removed from their listings. The second call came a month later and I did nothing more. This last time I called the number noted that showed on caller ID and GOT a human! When I asked if this was merchantcircle.com, she hung up. I called back and said I've been solicited from your number, have reported it to the DNC registry, that I am not a business and to please remove me from your records. He hung up.

Do NOT do business with merchantcircle.com if you have a business - one, there's only a street address to contact them, no customer service email or phone number. Secondly their marketing practices include continued harassment after requesting removal from their database and have been told they're calling a residence. If they're so subversive and private now, what happens when you join and god forbid, should they take money for their services.

Shame on you merchantcircle.com!

I AM JUST A CUSTOMER CONSIDERING TO OPEN MY OWN BUSINESS.
THE MALL I WAS CONSIDERING TO OPEN MY BUSINESS DOES BUSINESS THROUGH MERCHANTCIRCLE.COM. WHAT I NOTICED WAS ALL THE INFORMATION ON THIS SITE WAS 5+ YEARS OLD. THE MAJORITY OF THE STORES IN THIS MALL HAVE EITHER CLOSED DOWN OR OPEN THEIR OWN BUSINESSES WITHIN THE COMMUNITY!

GLAD TO HAVE KNOW EXACTLY WHO ARE DEALING WITH.

I also have had bad experience with merchant circle and will NEVER advertise on that site again. I had requested numerous times for them to remove my business from there site but they would always ignore my request and delete my email so after a month of that I finally reported them to san jose better business bureau and wouldn't you know... they FINALLY RESPONDED saying they removed the listing but why couldn't they have just done that on my FIRST request? I do know the owner of the site is jennifer and can be emailed directly at jennifer@merchantcircle.com

Glad I am no longer a part of merchant circle, they should be shut down!

Received a recorded message to advise my business had a video advertisement on MerchantCircle.com. Viewed the video ~ it is not applicable to our business. We will ust ignore their calls in the future ~ caller ID came up as M C 480/543-1367. We have registered with DNC but continue to receive annoying calls. Has registering worked for you?

I can add, as a separate party, that they are reckless and their
practices are hard to reverse once they get you on their list.
Without permission, they list my retail store with an incorrect address.
There is no way to contact them, unless you register, so I need
to hire a lawyer to handle. merchantcircle.com a public nuisance!

Our office received a recorded message from MerchantCircle.com that said that they had an inquiry on our firm and that it may not be good. We were told to go to MerchantCircle.Com and read the message.

What we found was a web site wanting to sign up businesses and the information they had on our firm was not correct and had never been correct. So we just will just pass on the registration and forget the phone call.

This company, www.merchantcircle.com , is a directory for businesses in all areas. I thin they get their listings from a phone book and an old one at that. They then let you sign up for free, or better yet, sell you a subscription to promote your business. We received 3 telephone calls last Friday at 3 different telephone numbers in our Salon. The...
