Did not order publication
Received a telephone call regarding a professional publication for
Administrative Assistants. Told the woman I was not interested in the
publication and did not want to receive it. A week later I received the pamphlet. I
called and left a message informing them I did not want it. Could not reach a person.
Message on phone stated to leave name, telephone number and company name. Left
message on October 1, 2012 at 9:28 a.m. Received an invoice in the amount of $195.50.
The City of Meriden has a policy that all orders must have a purchase order and cannot be
paid without purchase order
Never ordered anything but received invoice
To Whom it May Concern,
Apparently your company makes a practice of calling potential leads (as myself) and offering a subscription to your newsletter and other services.
If however, the offer is declined, your marketing agent then offers a FREE newsletter, which is, I’m sure, almost always agreed to. Hey… why not… it’s FREE and you have the opportunity to sample the product .
I did agree to the ONE FREE email from your company. I DID NOT however, SUBSCRIBE TO YOUR SERVICE! I have called your company several times and have sent about 8 emails and still keep getting invoices:
COPY OF EMAIL : CANCEL this invoice/subscription, scam you are pulling on people
I NEVER Ordered this subscription to start with! I Don't understand how you can send out an invoice on something when all I did was agree to accept an email which was being sent to me by RENAE HESS. I did NOT verify that I was ordering a thing from your company!
Your sales reps obviously need more training if they think an agreement to accept an email is confirmation of ordering a product!
In addition, after reviewing your website I noticed that NONE of this was talked about in my 1 minute phone call with this sales rep
On your website:
-----As described on the phone, you'll receive your first issue in two to four weeks, and another issue two weeks later. If for any reason you find the publication isn't productive for you, mark the billing form "cancel" within sixty days and return it to us – no questions asked. Otherwise, your subscription will simply be continued.
DO not sent me anything further! I don't like the scam you are playing.
CANCEL this today!

please tell us how we can throw this immigrant back to where he came from and throw the owners in jail! This is robbery! If I could hunt you down, I will.! This is the sickest scam ever! Took an innocent employee of mine and screwed her! WOW! Someone will pay for this, you can count on it. No matter what it cost me! You people will stop.!
Noooooo Wendy! You paid those criminals?! I am so sorry for you. This is why they keep doing what they are doing. I don't want my credit ruined. I work VERY hard at keeping my credit clean. There MUST be a way that we can protect ourselves. Do you think they will really go to collections? The collections company that called me, i believe is the same people, also a scam. What company does not give a mailing address or email address? that is very shady.
Can anyone out there recommend a way to protect our credit from fraud?
Thank you.
I had same issue in 2010. Ended up paying it because they were harassing me at work and associating my account with my employer. I did not want it to come back to my employer, so I paid it and put up complaints anywhere online I could. Better Business Bureau was not much help because once it's paid, it's considered resolved.
this also happened to me. FRAUD!
Unapproved Subscription

You invoiced my company and now I have to TAKE the time to cancel the subscription I never ordered.
I HAVE CANCELLED (in three methods) TO MAKE IT CLEAR TO YOU THAT I AM CANCELLING AND I AM VERY DISSATISFIED with your company.
#1 I RETURNED YOUR INVOICE, UNPAID, NOTING THAT I DID NOT ORDER YOUR PRODUCT, this was mailed on 01.12.11.
#2 I CALLED YOUR 800.220.5000 NUMBER AND LEFT ALL OF MY CANCELLATION INFORMATION PER YOUR VOICEMAIL ATTENDANT’S INSTRUCTIONS, this was done on 01.12.11.
#3 I AM EMAILING YOU THIS NOTICE
I just wanted to add that it is unfortunate that your company feels they need to swindle PROFESSIONALS to subscribe to your services.
I did review your content, and your information is useful. Because I am a PROFESSIONAL, I do not do business with unethical companies.
Please note that I also called your customer service department and spoke with Peggy on 01.12.11. She immediately gave me cancellation #00000 and advised that my subscription is already cancelled and there was no need to send this email. As you can see, I completely do not trust your company and see the need to send this cancellation in writing.
Thank you,

I received an invoice from this company today, for an order that I never placed.
I also agreed to a free newsletter. Now I got a call from a collection agency. They said I didn't cancel, but I never received any invoice.. although they insist they sent one each month. I said since I did receive newsletters, I would pay something, and the price immediately came down to $85. I haven't paid it yet, as I am wondering if there really is any collection company (or just someone else from the company trying to extort payment.) Has anyone had anything more than a phone call from a collection agency?
This company called me last spring. They said I would get a free issue so I could review it. The free issue came with an invoice for $195.50. I followed their instruction and wrote CANCEL on the invoice and returned it the same day. They sent 2 more invoices, I returned it as Canceled each time. Yesterday I got a call from a collections agency. I never wanted this product but they continue to harass me. Definitely a bad company.
They did the same thing to me...offered me a free letter and then invoiced my company and to avoid the collections and problems with my company I paid the $195.50. This is clearly a dirty practice. Administrative Professional Update is a rip off and the information in the newsletter can be found in many other places...FREE. This is not a reputable service company/organization.
this company is very scandalous. I did not agree to pay for any service. i was kind to not hang up on the woman when she called and let her email me more info on the services. now, i am in collections for $195.50. such ###. anyone else have experience with this?
Fraud
Someone called me at work offering Administrative Professional Update free. They assured me it was free, so I agreed. I started receiving the publication for about a year and then they stopped. Today I received a call from someone claiming to be from a collection agency stating I owed $195.50 for the publication. I told her I never ordered it, but she said I had 30 days to cancel after receiving the bill, but since I didn’t cancel, I owed the money.

This person called my business asking for an email address to send a free publication. I just received an invoice and called their number that of course is not listed on the invoice but I had to google to find it. I pressed #6 and spoke with Cindy who continued to state that it was a "free trial". No it was free period. Why would I sign up for this crap. I will be sending this to BBB as well. A bunch of frauds who have time to play on peoples phone while they are at work.
We received invoices from this company and emails as well. They claimed I had ordered their product which I did not. After several times trying to reach them, I gave up figuring fake companies cant push too far. I was incorrect. I received a call from a "collection" agency today and upon researching they are also not a reputable business.
This is what happens they get your information either by calling and claiming to just want to send you information about their products or they just get your information from the internet. What they claim later is a confirmation letter comes in an email that looks like general info. At the bottom there is a note that says if you want to stop receiving the free newsletter here is the confirmation number to cancel... um free? Then several months go by and you start getting odd invoices. Your accounting department is not dumb and they deduct the invoices are FAKE. They obviously try to reach the company to no avail and ignore the invoice. The next step is a collections call asking for $195.00 and this will all go away. Huh yeah but they want your credit card number. You ask if they can email you any evidence of a bill. They say "we do not have your bill, you should have received an invoice." The invoice you have seen does not have any contact numbers or emails, your only option is snail mail or paying your bill. The collection agent then explains she does not have a work email (um odd). Upon looking up the collection agency you learn they are a scam as well.
Finally you decide one more call to see if you can reach anyone of Admin Professionals that can explain all this craziness. You ask them why they are invoicing your company (unsolicited) they again claim you ordered something. Yet, never ask you for information to double check anything you are saying. You question them regarding all the fraud complaints they only continue responding "I do not argue with customers, if you think we are frauds why would you even bother to call" Um idiot because I want to make sure 100% that this bull ### was really happening. You have no explanation, no solution. Do not speak to these people if they call tell them to f*** OFF.
Please send your complaints about fraudulent conduct regarding International Credit Recovery Inc. and Progressive Business Publications to the Federal Trade Commission, the Federal Bureau of Investigation, E consumer .gov, the Better Business Bureau, and/or your local General Attorney's office.
I just had the exact thing happen to me. I was told it was free. Their information was not useful or interesting so most of it went directly into the trash. One day I received a collections call and they threatened to send my company to collections. I told them I did not owe them the money but they said they had my birth date so that meant that I owed them. I was afraid they would actually report my company to collections so I just gave them my credit card number. They said they would send me a receipt but I never got one.
