Metabolic Research Center Buyer bewware/scam

BUYER BEWARE! they are little sales women's of there products!
1)They lied on the living social deal about providing all the supplements for the first 6 weeks. They base that on 2/day the minuet you get in there you need 3-5 /day..
2) I was supposed to receive some another supplement for free, but before I knew it I was home and paid for it.
3) Was told the hormone teat was 80$ and the year of maintenance was 179.00. Well after 3 months of not losing, I tell them I'm done, would only like the 179.00 (year of maintenance back). NOW the hormone test is 159-199, and the year is only 60 bucks!? Also, I won't be getting a refund as it's passed the 3 day limit. BUT, I had to get the hormone test and maintenance with in 1 week of sign up. SO how am I supposed to know that I wouldn't be happy 3 months down the road.
In the end 950.00 bucks, which I didn't even know I had spent that much.. on a bunch of con! Pretty women who are only there to sell you supplements to a program that doesn't work. So just be warned..

Metabolic Research Center Intense Itchy Rash

After taking these supplements for 4 or 5 days, I broke out with a severe itch rash. My skin became red and swollen. My doctor advised me to stop taking the supplements. My skin now is very rough and brittle where i developed the rash. The worse part besides the itiching and sleepless nights, MCR does not want to return my money. I'm suffering and they don't want to give me my money back. They said I had 7 days to request my money back although I told them about it at the 5th day. Although I told them and went by to see them within 7 days to discuss my reaction. They told me to begin off slow and then gradually work my way back up to regardly doseage?!? I think my only option is to file a small claim lawsuit.

I had the same thing happen to me. In 4 weeks I have spent over 1000.00 dollars between MRC, doctors visits, prescriptions and products. And now I am going to go to a dermatologist. I have scares and I itch so bad. My skin is rough and awful looking now. Now, the Fort Smith, office states my experience with MRC is inappropriate to post. Like you I told them with in a week and the advise me to not take them anymore. But of course no offer to give me my money back or take care of the doctors visits. They just acted like they had never heard of this before. I'm not done with them either.

Metabolic Research Center Very disappointed with HCG and center

Very disappointed in the center and the diet. I wish I had read the complaints before joining. I too was charged like $299.00 to join and left without one thing except what to eat for 3-4 days. During those days the diet wasn't that bad. But when you return, you have to buy all these products and given an 800 calorie diet, which is very very hard to adhere to. I was pressured to buy an extra bottle of HCG at a discounted price, and under the impression that the 2nd bottle would be needed, even though I told them I only wanted to stay on the dietn for 30 days. I have followed the diet religiously for 3 weeks and have not even used a 1/4 of one bottle of HCG. At the time of purchase, I had no idea what the bottle looked like, the amount in bottle, and what little amount I would be using. After 3 weeks, and puchasing additional products, such as their protein drinks, I tried to return the unopened products, plus the extra bottle of HCG. The center makes it very clear that they will not honor any returns, even though they are not opened. I had bought these on a Monday and tried to return on a Wed. I was told they did not think it was good customer service to sell items returned, even though they were unopened products...However, they have a basket of opened products of individual envelopes which allows a customer to exchange products they do not like for something else. I will stay on the diet the remainder of this week to allow me to use the products. I have lost weight, but not at a pound per week as they claim the diet works. I am a firm believer now that anyone can lose weight on an 800 calorie diet, without all those other products and the expense. If you go to one of these centers, please check out the diet food plan before you commit. I can assure you will be get very frustrated at eating 4 egg whites each and every day for breakfast. There is absolutely no variety allowed. And you can forget any eating out. You are a diet hermit. Their advertisement (brochures) also claim you are monitored by a physician. I have not seen one yet, even though I visit the center twice per week. Oh and by the way, when I tried to return the products, the manager said they could switch me to another program which usually costs over $200 but they would waive that fee...but of course I would have to continue on their products...Yea right!

That is too bad you had such a lousy experience. I used to work for the company and watched so many people lose 20, 30, 50 several even 100 + on HCG. One thing I can say, 1) there is NO gray area. you have to follow it properly. If you do not take in the extra protein (which is a non animal fat, no to very low carb source) you will in fact lose muscle mass. Even Adkins approaches the higher protein. But if you take in additional fat or carbs while on HCG, it just won't work. I know 800 seems low, you must have been doing the drops, takes a lot more of those as it was a non Rx and a lower dose, but if you do the plan correctly, even the 800 cal will feel like too much. Your body actually utilizes your own stored body fat for the energy source. I witnessed too many people whom had never had success achieve their goals. Sorry your experience was not as awesome as it should have been. I am not longer with the company, but do believe in their products so I continue to but them. Not the protein drinks as I am not trying to lose weight, but I still use the meal replacement shakes & love some of the herbal support.

I had the same experience in Jacksonville, FL in 1999. They were not using the HCG at that time but I was pressured into buying their products twice a week for about $200.00 each visit. i was with them for about 6 weeks and had never seen anyone but a sales person. I was visiting for 3 weeks before anyone asked if i had done Ketone Strips. Apparently I was supposed to be doing Ketone checks every visit. There only priority was selling product.
I switched to Atkins and begin losing weight much faster than MRC programs. No expensive products to buy.

Metabolic Research Center Terrible experience

My friend and I joined Metabolic Research Center in September. We did lose weight but of course we spent hundreds of dollars each month buying all the MRC pills, flaxseed oil capsules, protein drinks, etc.

Then the week before Thanksgiving I got a call saying that the people from the center in Waco had come in and closed the center down. I was told that they would come down once a week from Waco so that we could weigh in and buy supplements if we needed any. That went on for about 3 weeks and then the 3rd week in December when they were scheduled to be in Temple we went by and the office was closed and every piece of furniture was removed from the office.

After several phone calls to the center in Waco, the only thing they would tell me is that they didn't know anything because corporate had not told them anything.

I even called corporate and they turned around and had the Waco center call me. I called corporate again and was told that someone would contact me. That was 2 weeks ago and I haven't heard anything else.

They don't care that their customers were left with no support. One of my friends had been going to the Temple center for a year and was about to start her maintenance program, but nobody contacted her to help her through this.

Well I am with you, although my complaint is much different. I am looking for information to file a complaint with the EEOC. They refused to hire me due to: I have 2 teeth missing at the bottom, although my skills for employment are right on target. I used to be 197 pounds, now I am 140 and doing just fine with out them. I never used the Metabolic Research Center, and I never will use them. They judge people as soon as they walk in the door. This is not good business. Any information to the CEO or corporate office wood be great. I mean they should be helping those that walk in there doors, not judge them on how they look. Gee! What a confidence builder. I want to add that I was dressed very nice, hair done great, and make up of course. I just had a car accident about 2-3 weeks before my interview, my sales background, and customer service background more than exceptional, as well a medical administration student; And medical management. You would think, the perfect figure person interviewing me would have used her common since before opening big mouth. Yeah we all want to see someone that has a perfect figure that can eat anything, compared to a person that actually suffered weight loss problems. Go figure? There are all forms of discrimination, they just crossed the line. Me personally I want to see some one fighting the same weight loss battle I suffered though for five year’s compared to someone that has no clue- the battle we go through.

Metabolic Research Center No customer service

I went in for an initial consultation at Metabolic Research Center in Bentonville, Arkansas. I should have known not to sign up, because the ladies in there were like 'high pressure used cars sales people'. I did sign up because I truly wanted to lose weight. They signed me up for like $239 which fit easily into my budget. After coming back 5 days later after signing up, they told me I needed $400 in supplements that were required. They also made me purchase vitamins, shakes, and other stuff. I could not repurchase each week because it is not in my budget. When my weight loss slowed, Metabolic Research Employees always blamed it on me not buying things. They never gave me the 'counseling' they claimed during the initial sales pitch. I have heard this story from more than 1 person--actually a lot of people at Wal-Mart Corporate have been burned by Metabolic.

Thank you all for comments. I felt the same about the pressure, but was desperate to lose weight and joined. I am going to continue with this diet, but will hold back on their sales of more products. I think I am going to look online for the same or similar products. I will admit that I lost 13 pounds in the first week. I tapered off and have lost only 5 more pounds by the fifth. I've stayed the same for over a week now. Thanks for everyone's replies. Maybe go see counselors there and if they recommend another product, by it once and look online for something with similar ingredients. I do want it bad, and can see that some people who stuck to it have sen it work. (last post before me was in 2016? I wonder if this forum is still being read). I think I will check back in, in a month to see if there are more comments and report my progress.

This program sets you up to fail. The protein nutrition bars all have either sugar or HFCS in them, and most of the drinks have fructose in them. How does consuming more sugar help you lose weight? Especially belly fat? I realize fructose is in fruit, but the fiber that is in fruit helps mitigate it. Straight fructose in the drinks is just added sugar. The supplements are ridiculously expensive and do not work. I can find the same ones at Sprouts or Natural Grocers for less money. I have been on the program for 5 weeks and have lost 10 lbs., but it's mostly water weight due the amout of water they require you to consume daily. No appreciable inches lost. Don't waste your money on the expensive hormone testing. I did MRC's hormone test and when I got my results, lo and behold all my hormones are whacked out. So they wanted to sell me even MORE expensive supplements, for a total of 9 to take at least twice a day. I had the same hormones tested at a hospital laboratory, and guess what? My hormones are all in the NORMAL range, except for my insulin which is high, and this is not helped by the added sugars I previously mentioned. I don't know how this program works for other people, but for me with insulin resistance and metabolic syndrome, it is a huge FAIL, and not worth the hassle and expense. Don't waste your money.

I went to the center in Eugene, Oregon. while the ladys were nice they DID end up pushing the suppliements and pills which made me puke and have MAJOR stomach cramps!
To say the the least I wasn't happy with pushy people and bad products but what made me scream and run away after my "membership" ran out was the new trainers there. I LOVE the three origianl women who were there then they started getting people from other offices "visiting" the office. At first they were nice as well but what REALLY put my panties in a bunch was my third to last "consultation". The lady looked at me and said "You aren't loosing weight fast enough. We calcualted it out AND YOUR ONLY LOOSING 1.75 POUNDS A WEEK!" she made it sound like I sinned and was going to Hell! THEN she looked at me and said "I would be MORE SATISIFIED AND WY MORE HAPPIER WHEN YOU GET TO 2.5 POUNDS A WEEK!" After that little stunt I was PISSED and well when she asked me if I wanted to renew it to better my weightloss I told her I'd think about it.
Well now NOPE! I have been off thier horrid pills and "protein" shakes, have started counting calories and going to the gym and i've lost 20 pounds in the past 2 months! OH FYI I looked at the "nutritional facts" and then at some protien powder my mom got me at the local Super Supplements...WOW MRC has NOTHING on this powder! Not to mention they put a lot of nasty ingrediants in them!

Reading these comments it sounds like each center is very different depending on the staff. I went to the MRC in Conway Arkansas. Most of the staff was very nice. There was one girl that I wish they would get rid of. She's very rude. During our class she smacked and pop her gum the entire time, getting annoyed when ever the other employee would correct her on something. The same thing happened to me when I signed up. I was not told anything about the supplements the drinks . I just paid my $300 and was given a diet sheet and tell him to come back in five days. That was when the girl in the class was so rude. We were told that the drinks and the supplements were required. We were not given an option. After looking at the drinks I was very concerned that they were sweetened with aspartame. I told them that I didn't feel comfortable drinking that I always use Stevia. The girl who clearly doesn't have any formal training in nutrition or health said that it was basically the same thing as Stevia. I am a registered nurse and work very closely with diabetics.and knew better but didn't have a choice. On my 6th weigh in I had to deal with that same girl. She was again rude and very and unattentive. While I was standing on the scale she started screaming and it scared me to death she said "oh that's my favorite song on the radio ".. She told me my loss was mostly water and I needed to take another supplement "in order to get my metabolism going more." I told her I was not interested .I didn't feel comfortable taking so many supplements. Then she told me I needed to cut down on my protein . But then she told me I needed to drink at least two more protein drinks a day and she started getting the boxes for me to purchase them I told her no thank you. I never went back. I just had to cut my losses. Sadly this is not one of the better centers. Misleading and dishonest.

WELL...I went into the MRC in Eugene, OR. The ladies are VERY nice people, not to pushy about the suppliments/ or vitamins BUT... I started in November on thier Thanksgiving Sale 1/2 off which was an early Chrsitmas present from my mom and grandma. Well it is now April and I have lost 23 pounds and VERY happy about it but they said since I didn't reach my weight loss goal of 40 pounds off that I need to spend ANOTHER 79 bucks! Thats the SALE PRICE! I shrugged and said fine but after talking to my doctor I was told how bad the vitamins and "protein" shakes are for you! I went out to Super Suppliments nd looked at thier protien shakes, not only do they have way more protien (almost 10 grams more! >_

I started the MRC program back in October of 2015. It has been almost 6 months and I have only lost about 7 pounds. I plan on going in today to tell my counselor that I will no longer be spending money on the pills or protein drinks. I think my weight loss that I have had is due to only eating whole foods and exercising, which I started because I was not losing weight. I keep being told to buy more supplements and increase my protein drinks. I run 4 days a week, and eat only fresh whole foods. I feel a lot better about myself, and I look healthier, but I don"t give MRC any credit for it. Hoping that eating right and increasing my workouts, continuing my water intake and avoiding fried foods will be best. I know people who this program has worked for, and that is what inspired me to try it, but it doesn't work for me. Any one interested in buying my leftover protein drinks? :)

I have been going to my local MRC for almost 3 months now and I LOVE IT! They are nice, wonderful caring people who truly want to help you lose weight. I NEVER heard them say you can't work out while on this program in fact when I started they RECOMMENDED that I work out at least 3-4 times a week! They have never pushed the supplements or the pills on me, they DO make my stomach hurt a little if I take them everyday, so I try and take them every other day or so. They were even a little encouraging when I gained a few pounds back on but so far to date I have lost 20 pounds and am loving it! I have to buy shirts in Medium which I never did after high school, and the consultants here in Eugene, OR are trained in what they know (one was a Zumba instructor and loved it when I started Zumba) The fees were paid for me (I got the 1/2 off special near Thanksgiving) as an early Christmas gift but I have had to buy some supplements from them and they are NOT cheap!

I joined MRC in May 2015 and lost a total of 47 lbs in four months. I did 4 rounds of HCG injections, all of the supplements, B12 injections and three protien shakes per day and just purchased another 40 injections since they were on sale this month. They have a year shelf life so it's great to have the shots on hand when you need a boost. I have spent a total of 4200.00 to date. Yes, It is quite expensive; but in my opinion it works! I have been on countless programs and this is by far the best for me. The HCG is like liquid gold. It totally suppresses your appetite and you just feel amazing. Lots of energy and best of all, I went from a size 12 to a 4 (170 lbs to 123 lbs). I have been on maintenance since October. It's only been a little more than three months, and I have not gained any weight back. Of course, I follow the diet to a "T" and will continue to live with this way of eating for the rest of my life with no complaints. As their statement reads, "nothing tastes as good as thin feels" so flipping true. Plus you just feel so healthy and amazing. I do agree with statements above, the employees only care about making the buck. That's fine with me; because the program works and they need to make money just like the rest of us, it's their job. I don't need one on one couseling and I'm in and out of their office quickly and with what I want to buy. Those who need extra help may not like this program. It's a lot of self discipline and very expensive if you do it right. I did read above from someone that your doctor can give you a RX for HCG? I have inquired this with many doctors here in Florida and not one of them would even consider writing an HCG script. I'd love to know what doctor that lady is referring to. All my best to you if you want to try this program.
