Great Game
The only reason you wouldn’t buy this game is if you already had the Steam version, which I will say is better, but that’s to be expected.
What do you get for a single buck? Hours upon hours of gameplay! The game starts off fairly complicated, but once you begin to understand it, it becomes one of the deepest and satisying games you can find on mobile. If you like sandbox games, get Mindustry. If you like tower defense, get Mindustry. If you like army building games, get Mindustry. Arguably the best game on mobile for those looking for a complex game. Praise Anuke!
Adding some productivity to my wasted time
Pretty exceptional game honestly... I’m obsessed with numbers games where I can micromanage the economy to min-mix everything and this is a great platform for that.
The pacing is a bit slower than expected at the beginning, but I certainly don’t mind it. It gives you time to learn the mechanics of various equipment and develop your tech tree. I can’t speak for the late game yet, but I picked this up not knowing what to expect and binged for a straight 6 hours. Seems like a great mobile offering for those who like games like Factorio... with a bit more of an emphasis toward combat.
Too much fun
This is so complex, difficult, and overall fun, that if I get to a good wave I’ll spend over 24 hours in one match(after saving, of course; I’ve got a life.). I’ve gotten in trouble because of how addicting this is. It’s probably the best game I’ve ever played: endless gameplay, simple but complex, and godly multiplayer. And it’s on and runs smooth on mobile? Yes! To be honest I started on android 5.0, and losing my saves twice sucked. But I mean, it wasn’t all too bad. I also played on PC, which is better, but also 3x the price. One warning though: This much fun may be illegal in your area.
Absolutely Stellar!
This app was introduced to me by a friend, and BOY was this app a good idea!
Its got everything anyone would want in a game like it, for example:
Amazing gameplay, a multiplayer mode, AND a level editor all in one mobile game. The campaign mode is executed perfectly, & the amount of depth & complexity in the building/research is at the point where it is simple enough for the simple minded to enjoy, but complex enough to keep strategists thinking.
As for the technical aspects, it doesn’t drain your battery, & it only takes up like 90 or so megabytes. Also, crashes are infrequent.
All of this for 99 cents.
Really fun and addictive
I have been playing for a few years ever since I got my computer tablet it was on recommended so I downloaded it and I became addicted to it I even played on my moms phone and I even encouraged my sister to play with me on the online mode but I have been playing before beta on the classic version and I felt like a pro but then since there wasn’t much to do I started to get a bit bored then I found out there was a beta coming out so I downloaded it and there was so much more to offer and it became I #1 favorite game again.
Also the new music for the game brings a nostalgia like tone, I like it.
Keep up the good work.
PC Quality Game on Mobile
I originally bought this game for the steam version and loved it. Mindustry was quite addicting forcing me to play it for hours on end wanting to upgrade my base, or find anyway to tweak my system to make it more efficient. But then I found it on mobile. I knew I had to give it a try. And most games that are on PC and go to mobile or Console the first thing that goes threw your mind is “oh that means it’s gonna be just a worst version of the PC version” BUT THIS IS NOT THE CASE! This game on mobile is literally the same wonderful game as the one on PC! (Just little changed controls for mobile). Even the hud of the game is the same as the PC version! And for only 1$? WHAT DO YOU HAVE TO LOOSE!
Super good but a few things to add
so I’ve been playing Mindustry for the past month and I like how there’s sandbox mode and survival instead of one main thing but a few things I wanna ask are, first can you add a feature that removes the sandbox things or keeps them but adds an option to make all the guns/towers to be automatically loaded when you build them so you don’t have to put down a million item sources. Second, instead of having to go to the discord on mobile make it so there’s a workshop type of thing kinda like steam workshop or something anyways this is a super good game with a cool concept and it’s worth the money so anybody that’s not a developer that’s reading this you should get the game. ΘιΘ
U
Worth every penny and more
The game is free (voluntary donation) on other platforms, and absolutely worth the price here on iPad. No IAP, just a great value for the money. It’s a cross between a building/crafting sim and a tower defense game. It’s super fun to design your factories to maximize use of the available natural resources. Supports both single player against an AI and online multiplayer. The one weakness is that the documentation is a little light, both in game and online, so you have to figure out things via trial and error (or ask your questions on Discord, or look up tutorial videos on YouTube). The game is great as is and there are apparently major new campaigns coming soon, as it’s primarily one dev with lots of plans supported by an active open source community.
Fantastic Game; Awkward Controls; Only 9:16 res
The game itself is high in quality and substance. It’s an RTS tower defense, and it’s a blast. The music is extremely fitting for the moment to moment gameplay, sound effects are satisfying, and the mechanics are rich. This is a full fledge PC game with a notably amazing port given the difficulty in doing that. However, the building system (the tracks specifically) can be a bit awkward at times. It works, but you will often slip just a bit in the wrong direct and have to annoyingly redraw whatever you were building.
Also, the game does not support full screen on the iPhone X or later—as the game is locked in a 9:16 aspect ratio. This might not matter to some, but this is a big downside for me. If the developer reads this: please add full screen support!
Simply fantastic
Ok, I’ll start this off by saying this game is a full fledged, time consuming Game. I’ve probably put hundreds of hours into this game and there’s so SO much content. The main tech tree is time consuming but satisfying to slowly upgrade your weapons and reach new machines. If you’ve heard of factorio it’s something like that. If you get bored or want to tweak stuff, there’s a mod menu with dozens of mods for ease of life. I recommend 2x conveyors, it make it feel far better paced.
There’s dozens of levels with ranging levels of difficulty and materials to mine. Also offensive levels where you have to build an army to take over a level.
Overall: if you’re looking for a pretty complex factory base builder base defense game you can really sink your teeth into, this is the perfect game for you.
Like Factorio for Mobile
This game is a lot like Factorio, with the base-building, resource gaining, production, etc. The main difference is that this is faster-paced since it revolves around combat, where Factorio revolves around expanding production.
Right now, after a certain point, you can’t really progress more, since for example, shields can barely be upgraded. I think there should be a way to upgrade those because at extremely high waves (200 for example) they get instantly decimated.
However, the game itself is very fun and addicting, and it has mod support, so that shield issue can probably be easily fixed by downloading a mod.
I highly recommend this game, because it’s incredibly fun and it only costs $1 (no micro transaction bs). It’s also open source, so you can follow the development of it and contribute if you want!
Great game, confusing update schedule
I only have one thing to say about this game. ITS BLOODY AMAZING! Despite only having it for just over a week I’m already hooked it’s that good. However not but the next day after downloading it I found that I couldn’t join any of the servers as they were on version 122 (for mobile) and I am on 121. I had originally figured that it would be the usual day or two after the update to the servers before I would receive it as well. That update has yet to arrive almost 5 days later. This could just be bad timing on my end or that this might be the usual schedule. Aside from this slight issue it’s a great overall game. Great graphics, great community, and most importantly, creative. I honestly see this game some time soon reaching the popularity of factorio, however despite the fact that the game is basically in early release and things are still being added in and changed I don’t think this game will ever TRULY be finished like for example Halo.
P.s Sorry for the long review but I’m not good with words. KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK!
Great game but a few concerns
This game is really great but there are a few concerns with it, the first major concern being that you cant start the next wave until all the enemies are defeated on the current wave. it would be really nice for when you have a solid defence already built to be able to spawn in multiple waves at a time as it gets boring waiting for all the enemies on a current wave to die.
a few other problems are that you lose your building plans when you die so you have to lay them out again, and this also happens when switch to build something else already laid out. My final issue is that you cant switch to fighting without cancelling all building plans.
other than that however this game has greatly improved with the updates and I am very happy with how the game has turned out. The level design is different enough between every level to warrant playing them and the unlock tree is a great addition that rewards collecting rescources. all in all great concept for a game that really works. Im looking forward to see if there are any new updates.
A 2000 hours Gigachad T-Rex of a game for 99 cents!
After a few days sunk into this game, I’m sold. Not only is Mindustry’s core mechanics every bit as compelling and polished as Factorio, it’s also got a drastically better single player campaign with progression features that I wish Factorio could learn from.
The space and resource constraints also keeps the levels fresh. You don’t really get a lot of chances to build a mega factory with 16 x 16 conveyor bus lanes, rather every level forces you to make the most of the available space and more often than not, you’re spending your time solving pixel-art-sized puzzles to fit your little artisan boutique mining operation rather than load-optimizing and future-proofing your production throughput with unlimited space to expand. It’s different, but just as surprisingly fun.
Unit building is also a welcome addition to the genre. I wish I could have more granular rts control over my units and that pathing weren’t so painful over conveyor lanes but it’s still an awesome experience to be on the other side of the tower defense game for a change.
Love the game!
Great idea mediocre execution
Saw this game and was super excited. Cool concept, cool design. 2 hrs through and really underwhelmed.
-The Bad
“Tutorial” was just lazy developers going “well, just shoot the things coming at your base”. Didn’t really touch on anything that wasn’t the glaringly obvious part of the map. No fast forward or next wave option. And the conveyor belts... the most unintuitive touch controls I’ve ever seen. iPhone XS Max zoomed all the way in and it still doesn’t place on the correct tile. Trying to snake the belts around rocks or anything? Good luck with the corners. Belts ends snap about 20% of the time and just becomes tiresome. I’m sure if you entire plan is to use the belts to run in a straight line only between two buildings they are fine but I found placing them anyway but in a straight line too tedious and time consuming.
-The Good
Game looks great and runs smooth on XS max. No crashes or lags the entire play session. Also didn’t seem to eat battery but you won’t be able to play all day without a charger handy.
I would still recommend giving it a try, just be ready to spend some time trying to get the hang of it.
Every Once In A While A Game Comes Along
One that really seems like it shouldn’t be available on mobile, a genuine full PC title. Here, you’re getting one for $0.99.
Pros;
- Great, ramping gameplay.
You can go to new areas and unlock new things at your own pace, and it isn’t difficult to do so. The unlocks make the game progressively more complex, and as you advance to new features and master old ones, you’ll feel like you’re really accomplishing something.
- Satisfying construction.
Using the pause function to assemble a huge base, and then watching it all get realized is... bliss.
- Aesthetic.
The pixel art has a great feel to it, and watching the smoke come out of your mines as the conveyors carry around metal is wonderful.
- NOT A PHONE KILLER
Most mobile games these days, even ones as simple as pong, SLAUGHTER your battery life... Luckily for you, dear reader, this game doesn’t even make my phone get warm after an hour+ of gameplay.
- Multiplayer
AND it’s multiplayer! What?!?
- Great alt-tab functionality
When playing single-player, you can go do other stuff and come right back, the game will remain ready for a while, and it autosaves constantly just in case!
Cons;
- Placement system
I disagree with this one, since I kinda like it, but if you have big fingers my two friends who I got to try it said that it felt clunky since they couldn’t see under their fingers while queuing placements.
- Good
If you’re lame, you won’t like it... ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Interested? Worth it!
Before we start here, I have never written a review on the dreaded apple App Store. Filled with p2w titles and mediocre pc ports, it’s a place of sadness.
This game, this game is a gem.
-Singleplayer Campaign (soon to be completely reworked with entire planets!)
-Easily play any of your singleplayer maps, multiplayer. Yes, you can progress through the campaign this way!
-Multiplayer isn’t dead! It’s very much active!
-Seamless cross platform play. You don’t find that often, with games of this genre.
-multiple game modes.
Survival, which is a wave defense game mode where you build your factory and defenses up to last as long as possible
PvP. Build a base, build mechs controlled by AI, and conquer!
Attack. This is a coop, PvE game mode where your team (the players) work together to fight against the computers base.
FFA, interesting take on PVP, plays well.
The only con I have for this game, is the occasional griefers. They come from time to time, but most servers have preventative measures against them. There is also a vote kick method, PLEASE UTILIZE IT!
I’ve purchased this game 4 times. Once on IOS, and 3x on steam for my buddies. It’s FREE on Itch.io if you want to try it out on your PC! The Steam version does have a steam workshop as well, but is not required for mods.
Oh yeah, this game has mods. If you can think of it, you can make it. Just wait till you see what’s being added in the future updates :) if you’re still on the fence about this game... just jump. It’s $1. That’s less than a mcchicken. That’s the price of an Arizona iced tea. You’ll spend 30 minutes drinking that tea, or 30+ hours playing this game... you decide.
Some suggestions
I love this game and I always have. It is a mix of challenge and thinking, as most problems can be solved with efficiency in this game, meaning it is more thinking than anything else. I have a few blocks I would like to see in the game or in some form. I would like the command center to be replaced with a Garrison, a place that stores units and can stack together to store more. Bigger units take up more slots in the garrison, and smaller units take 1 or 2. You can click on the garrison (or multiple) and the units will rush into the garrisons upon the Stow command. There should also be more options for commands, like VIP (guarding a specific unit like pulsars guarding a reign) or flank, where they take not the shortest like normal but whatever will get the to the enemies blind side. You should also be able to assign targets that are of more or less importance (I know this is possible with logic, but not everybody is good at it). There is an alternative for the garrison not being a replacement but instead a supplement for the command center, maybe the command center should have a stow command upon which all units go to a selected garrison and overflow is assigned randomly. The aforementioned way is the best in my opinion compared to the others because it means leading separate armies. Somebody could link a dagger garrison to a specific control center, for better army control. You should have a low level of customization like coloring, naming, and stuff like that. What I mean by this is a garrison could be named Blue Squad, and have the color blue on the garrison to specify. With the aforementioned feature of having separate armies the unit cap should be raised by building garrisons and units inside it should not count. Upon a garrison being picked up, it should retain all of its units, making it slightly more efficient to transport units. The garrison should heal units slowly upon entering, varying by size. Overall I think this would make units a lot more coordinated and effective. If you read this, sorry it was so long. I think that Missile Silo’s should be added, and maybe underground units.

Awful design
The controls are so terrible that you can’t make it through the tutorial. They have to fix the conveyors controls before this game is worth even 5 minutes of your time. It’s not “quirky”, it’s broken.
No Sound, No Updates
Do not buy, unless you just want to support the dev.
As of this writing the iOS version has not been updated for over a year.
It is a great game, but find another platform to play on. (Steam/android)
This game used to be good
Some of the buttons don’t work, there are so many things and they’re hard to find now. I went a while without playing so it’s obvious that there would be new things but even the old things are worse now.

Can’t play the game
I literally can’t play the game. It freezes after like 45 secs. I made as far as placing a stone mine in the tutorial. Tried 5 times. I enjoy it on the PC but is a waste of money on mobile because it won’t even run.
Frustrating
Seems like most of the great reviews are written by people who have played on PC first, so they know what to expect and what you can do in the game. I had not, and like a couple other reviewers, I can’t get through the tutorial.
Good idea, but very unbalanced
Stupid game. Doesn’t matter how many towers and walls you built, enemy just pass thru it all, and destroy core. Maybe on PC this game Ok, but on the phone gameplay worst and actually unplayable. I upset about this game, just wasted money.
Crashes
I currently have an IPhone 6 and every time I run the game for more than 3 minutes, it either crashes or the Frame rate drops to 0-1. Please fix this so I can play with friends, I bought this game so I should be able to play it. Thank you.
I can’t place blocks
I paid money for this game and I was just starting to like this game but then I can’t place anything I can’t select nothing I don’t understand this why charge for a game I can’t even play. Maybe I’ll consider changing the rating if they’ll fix it soon
Was better before update
Crashes constantly and can't even place anything, using iPad 4, really fun game sad I can't play it now because of this. Thought the update would make the game even more fun then it already was. Sadly I was wrong. These problems need to be fixed asap. Thanks for reading
Potential
The potential is there but my enjoyment is severely hampered by timers and how difficult it is to place things even on my iPhone 13 Pro Max. This would be a really fun game on an actual computer but the touchscreen controls are not responsive enough to also have to deal with a timer.
Stuck on tutorial
Got stuck in the tutorial, the enemy killed my core, now I can’t do anything. Didn’t even lay one conveyor. I could drag a red selection box, but nothing happens as the game kept saying I can’t do that in the tooltip notes. Looked cool, others seem to love it, I guess it’s just not for me. At least I only wasted a dollar.
Cannot progress past tutorial
Without fail, the tutorial will get to a point where it prompts you to do some action, highlights the correct buttons to press, and simply will not progress past that point. Sometimes it’ll happen when it first tells you to move, other times when it tells you to make a conveyor. Strongly advise caution when purchasing this game.
Finicky
I’ve played this on pc and it’s much better and it’s also free but this has finicky controls like placing the conveyors. A better way would make it so you can drag around corners and just drag it around in general. Or make the game controller compatible to make it easier but not all people have one. So if this was fixed it would make it so much easier to play
Great Game with one MAJOR Flaw
Really Great game, and despite the biggest and most annoying bug I’ve ever encountered, I still don’t regret my purchase. This bug is quite literally game changing, in a bad way; the game freezes every like 5-10 minutes and crashes shortly after. It’s annoying, but I can still play by saving my game before it happens, but if and when I don’t, I lose all progress in that game.
Frozen Solid
Like other reviews I was enjoying this game until it froze. I tried waiting a while to see if it would come back but to no avail. I restarted the app, re downloaded it, restarted my phone, and had nothing else running in the background. NONE OF THIS HELPED. I still want to play though because I love the concept, but I can’t progress much in the 5 minutes before it freezes again.
Can’t place anything or mine anything
Not sure if I’m doing something wrong but the tutorial says to select the drill and click the check mark to place it. I select the drill and there’s no option to place it. A friend of mine also downloaded it and is having the same problem. Not sure if this is an iOS bug or what the problem is, but currently I can’t do anything in the game. Hopefully I can find a fix because the game looks cool, just can’t do anything.
Controls are very difficult
The controls just don’t work very well on mobile in my opinion. The tutorial is very confusing and the ui doesn’t make much sense. I eventually figured out how to do things but even after understanding how things work it was torture to try and build. Seems like a game that would be fun on PC with the current controls, but building on mobile is frustratingly difficult. I think they could update the control scheme and things would go smoothly. It’s sad because the game itself seems fun but I can’t really play it
