Watch falling apart
Be aware! Movado watches is a scam and not quality. Don't even believe it is Swiss made. Bought my watch a while back to go with my collection of other watches. This morning I decided to wear my Movado watch. Half way though the morning, I heard a sound and saw my watch face fell off! Yes, you are reading correctly. The watch face fell off. See photos attached! Just a bit of background. I work in an office behind a computer and desk. I contacted Movado. Was informed by a Mr DAN that I will have to send it in to a repair center. And they will quote me to repair. Yes, I have to pay for their bad workmanship. Are there any other people having the same issue with Movado? My watch still has the plastic seal /strip at the back. Hardly worn this! Brea, Alexandra"
Desired outcome: Repair or replace faulty watch

LUX Movado Watch
I purchased a Lux Movado watch at Macy's Las Vegas, NV for $795.00 plus $79.99 insurance on 12/28/2022. With tax, it was a total of $941.57. My spouse wore it twice on two separate occasions before the crystal cracked. On 6/19/2023 the watch was returned to Macy's for repair and was informed that the insurance would not cover and $400 would be the amount required to replace crystal. The watch was poorly made and defective upon purchased. It should not have cracked with so little, careful wear.
Desired outcome: I need this watch repaired without cost to me.

Warranty not being honored
I saw that my watch started to turn on the links.
I also saw that it was covered in the warranty.
I had my watch for less then shy of 2 years.
I sent watch in and I got a invoice. 1 for $164.98
crsytal scratched, caseback scratched, plating worn, bracelet worn bracelet scratched.
I have my watch for almost 2 years of course its going to be worn. My watch is faded into sliver on some of the links...That is suppose to be coverd. Yet you find other things that have nothing to do with the warranty and not doing what it stated the warranty covers.
I received an email to give them a call. I reach out spoke to a gentelmen who stated he would review what was stated on the invoice and get back to me.
He never did instead I just go another invoice.
At this point I just want my watch back. This experience is extremely disappointing. I expected a lot more from this company. My great grandpa, dad, uncle all wears this product.
See video below
Desired outcome: I would love for Movado to honor the warranty. That's it. I dont want nothing new or money back. I just want them to fix the faded part, and stop trying to avoid what the warranty saids it covers.
Movado 2.0 didn't honor manufacturer warranty
My Mavado 2.0 smart watch was sent to Mavado due to a defect with the charging. I had to move the watch around to get a good charge. I only had the watch for 1 1/2 yearss. They deemed the watch unrepairable because of cosmetic damage done to the Crystal. it takes very little for the crystal on that watch to crack. the crystal broke day one when I got the watch from a tap on a poll. The internals of the watch was not checked. they deemed the damage my fault but at the same time offered me a new watch for $300. the watch cost $800 but they offering me one for less of a price even though they believe the issue was "my fault". That doesn't make since. Even the screen was perfect and all the other parts.
Desired outcome: A replacement watch for free.
They stole my money
I bought a $795 watch They sent me wrong much cheaper watch. I sent it back by FedEx which was scheduled by movado. They received it and now are refusing to communicate or ship watch or reimburse me. I'm contacting the Missouri attorney general for the charges of wire, internet and bank fraud. Also grand larceny and mail fraud because you used fedex
Non-Customer Service
Bought a watch from them about one month ago. Returned the watch and I received a partial refund instead of a full refund. Was on the phone with them for one hour on 4 separate occasions. Twice they hung up on me after the long wait. Once they said a manager would call me back. I'm still waiting for the call. The fourth time they promised the rest of the refund. It never came. I had to file a dispute with my credit card company. They are the absolute worst. Uncaring, unresponsive, and double talk artists. Do not have anything to do with this horrible company!
Desired outcome: I want the rest of my refund.
Movado circa stainless steel bracelet 0606802
My letter to you concerns the purchase and subsequent repair estimate for a movado circa stainless steel mesh men's watch model reference 0606802
The watch was purchased in october 2015 as a memento after the passing of my mother - who loved watches - and having been intrigued by the style of movado watches - which I had viewed in the usa whilst on holiday - I subsequently purchased this watch in the uk on my return.
The watch has had a change of battery after 2 years or so but in oct 18 it started to lose time. I swapped it for another watch with the intention of having the battery checked.
Early january I had the battery checked and it was fine. I then decided to have it serviced at in goldsmiths reading uk (see repair estimate below)
I was aghast at the estimate which is almost 60% of the original purchase price. I was told that the whole movement needed to be replaced as well as the crown
I had the impression when I purchased a movado watch that I was purchasing a quality product with an long history and a reputation for style and substance.
I am now very much of the opposite opinion.
I have now asked for the watch to be returned to me unrepaired. Goldsmiths offered a 12 month warranty on the repair - but any further failure would put my bank balance at even further risk so regretfully I have declined the repair.
I am extremely disappointed that despite the good looks and stylishness of the watch - it will not tell me what time it is!
That it is of sentimental value makes the situation worse.
I would welcome your opinion of the extremely poor performance of your product and welcome your suggestion as to how the situation may be addressed. I cannot believe that a £500 watch is deemed to be "disposable" after 3 years.
Right now - I could not possibly recommend anyone to purchase a movado product if the performance I have experienced is a true measure of the manufacturing standards of movado watches - which is a real shame.
Below are details also of the purchase confirmation as well as the estimated repair
I await your response

Bracelet watch band continues to break almost every couple months. Has for several years
I was given this Movado watch as a christmas gift 3 years ago. I have had the bracelette band break every few months. I was told it wasn't under warranty for the band. Several jewelry stores have fixed it by replaceing the pins, but it always breaks. I take care not to pull on it, etc but it comes apart at various connecting points. Even sitting on a counter, I have picked it up and it comes apart in my hand. I am so frustrated as I like the watch very much and just wish it would quit breaking. I cannot get anywhere with the company, the store where I purchased it is indifferent. I looked up and saw that others had the same problem, so I wanted to warn others.
Condensation
When I received a chrome color Movado "Bold" for Christmas 2013, I was so excited because it was the only watch, after a lot of research, that I really liked. To my disappointment that excitement was short lived when the inside of the crystal began to develop condensation within 3 months of owning it. I have to admit that I wore it to work initially and my job requires a lot of hand washing (meaning water splatter, not immersion) so I chalked it up to getting it wet. Because I really love the look of the watch I exchanged it for a new one and vowed never wear this one to work and to wear it only for special occasions. Unfortunately, the second watch did the same thing within 3 months. I really wish Movado would fix this problem because I love the look of this watch. For the $750.00 price tag it should be water resistant as it claims.
Watch band
I purchased a Movado series 800 sports watch because I liked the style. A few years later I was enjoying a cigar on the deck of a restaurant and the watch falls off my wrist. I sent the watch to Movado to find out about replacing the one link that fell off but they told me that it was irreplaceable and I would have to replace the entire bracelet and be responsible for the $352.50 bill, because one link fell off. They cannot just replace the link because of the way the watch is designed. They cannot divide the band at the clasp as anybody else can do and charge for just half the bracelet because, for no better reason that they just don't do it that way. They choose to replace and charge the customer for the entire bracelet. When asked about this, GARY the supervisor, had no good answer except to tell me that's all the company was willing to do for me. I don't want the watch or any of the other three that I have because of the way Movado and Gary handled my situation. I will have bad memories every time I look at the time. Jeff

Poor Band
So I buy this fairly nice Movado watch. About a year after I get it, the band breaks. I bring it to the jewelers and they ship it off to Movado. It takes almost 7 weeks to get it back. And it takes all of 5 hours to figure out that they didn't properly fix it, and it breaks in the same exact place. Now, it has to be sent back to Movado - again - for this to be repaired. If they can't replace a pin and a barrel on a watch band, I really don't have any faith with them fixing anything actually related to the watch itself.

Design / clasp failure
I hope this complaint will find its way for serious consideration in future designs and happier customers.
I “splurged” on two Movado watches last Christmas, one for myself and one for my husband as a wedding gift to ourselves. These are not cheap watches... I had the Belamoda for myself, and his was something like a Dura. I was excited to finally own a Movado watch as I always loved their designs and prestigious brand.
Unfortunately, I found that they are no better or perhaps even worse than the $80 Guess and Fossil ones I had in high school, which I've used when I was much more active and probably withstand much more abuse than how I treated my Movado watch. I didn't even wear my Movado every day because it was something special.
2 months after I purchased my watch, I LOST my watch, most likely due to the clasp failure. It was winter, I was wearing a sweater, and a jacket and lots of layers, that I must not have felt it fall, or drop into the snow. A year later, my husband had 2 close calls where the clasp released itself but luckily he still has his.
I expected much more from Movado, so I am greatly disappointed. I know I can't expect Movado to replace my watch, because I lost it. I can't prove the clasp failed, though I am pretty sure that's what happened. Especially since it failed for our 2nd watch too.
I have nothing but a box to show for it now, but I do hope that Movado takes this complaint into consideration for their designs to avoid more disappointed customers.

Movado watches
I’m very disappointed by Movado watches. I was very happy with design.
After one year, (about 16 months) – time keeping is correct, however the minute arm was skipping 4 seconds. (it looked funny, however the time keeping was okay.)
Few months later, finally I bought in for service and they told me it should be battery issue.
3 weeks later, I got the letter from service center. It’s about $400 to fix the movement.
I was very much disappointed by Movado’s explanation that I should have come in for service yearly. Now I’m looking for new watches – NO MOVADO…..NO….
The complaint has been investigated and resolved to the customer’s satisfaction.
how could you tell that a minute counter which counts the minutes, not the seconds, was off by 4 seconds? Also if its a musuem watch it only has the minute and hour counter, so you would never know the seconds of the watch.
Never again
I bought a Movado mens watch on 12/20/12 with a lifetime battery replacement warranty. On January of 07 I took the watch to jewelery store the watch was purchased to get battery replaced. They sent it to Movado to do this. They called to say that the watch was bad and not the battery. I would have to pay for repair. I argued with them because I only wear the watch maybe once a year and it is left in it's original box in a closet in an airconditioned house. They gave me a break on the repair bill and I let them repair and paid for it. Now in November of 2010 I take in again to the same store for a battery and this time the factory says the movement is bad again. Spoke to Movado and they would not not do anything or say the watch is defective. This is ridiculous for an expensive watch to be this bad. I have a less expensive Seiko that I have had for over 25 years and it keeps perfect time. Just change battery every several years. I would never buy a Movado again.
NEVER AGAIN!
That's right, I bought my wife a Movado for her 40th birthday and not only did it have repeated (5) battery replacements it did not make it 3 years before a moisture got into the watch obliterating it. This product was only service by Movado for it’s batteries and it was purchased from a leading retailer (Helzberg Diamonds). There was no visible damage when it leaked but still Movado’s responds was, “it is out of warranty”. This makes me HOT!
Ok Movado it is your right to hide behind your 2 year warranty but it is my right to share my story with every potential customer. I spent $1, 700 on this gift that I thought would become a family heirloom and I am told it is not repairable. I am sure I will be getting her a new watch for her 43rd birthday, anyone have one they would recommend? Perhaps Apple, they seem to have a high standard and good success stories one after another.
Poor quality
Hi, I purchased a movado watch about a year in a half ago. Since I have has this watch, the bracelet/band has broken three times. Everytime it has broken, it was always in different areas. I was very dissapointed to have to finally upgrade to a more expensive watch and have had nothing but problems. On the 2 occassions, they repaired it with no problem, but didnt get my watch back for almost a month. This third time, they are now saying my watch is not covered under warranty because its the bracelet, which makes no sense to me. It's funny because when calling there I was on hold for a at least 15-20 minutes, and was told it was covered, waited on the shipping label via email, after not receiving it had to call again, and wait on hold for some ridilous amount of time, then was told by someone else my watch wasnt covered..I became so frustrated, so called later and was told it was covered, they finally emailed me a label, and I mailed my watch out..Two weeks later I receive a letter stating my estimate is $308.. I am so upset, and I can not wait to call them tomorrow. For such a so called expensive good quality watch, to have customer service representatives who have no clue what they are talking about in addittion, to have the call volume so high, to where consumers have to sit on hold for that long, its ridilous. I owed 3-4 Guess watches and paid $65-$100 and they last years and maintenance free...I must say Movado quality is poor and not worth the money or aggervation..
I bought my Movado watch 2 years ago and the band suppose to be stainless steel. it is fake. The band was plated with ss material. it is peeling off. I have the warranty paper, but no distributer will take care of me. I would not recommend this watch brand to anyone!
If you are a manager in charge of taking care of your customers, then place a number to call to take care of these issues.
Before you buy one, please know that you will be stock with any issues that you will have with it. No distributer will take care of you and no where to call or contact for customer service.
Don't buy
I bought the Movado Series 800 blue dial sport chrono with black thermoresin band at one of the Puerto Vallarta jewelry stores during a cruise in April 08. I chose it over a Tag Heuer because I liked the blue dial and overall looks. I had to go to their store in Cabo San Lucas 2 days later to have them exchange it (luckily they had one) because the setting dial was completely frozen too tight to move. The replacement watch worked just fine, and I was pretty happy with it.
Then the band broke, right up at the circular attach point for the band lug and the watch. This was after just 1.5 years! No warranty coverage, of course, and the replacement cost is outrageous what band is worth over 10% of the watch cost? Considering I paid $800 for the watch, the band price is over 1/8th the cost? Plus, from what I have read here and on numerous other sites, this is a chronic problem with these bands. In fact it seems to be a chronic problem with Movado to provide any reasonable customer service for their products. Its inexcusable for Movado not to fix this, and to ensure they have replacement bands on hand at a reasonable cost.
I wont buy a Movado again, based on this experience. Im still trying to find a replacement band. They closed all the Movado stores in June, so you really have to search to find one. Terrible customer service and business practice on Movados part.
Don't buy them
I purchased 2 Movado watches in September 2005. One of the watches has always had a problem with a haze forming on the crystal. It is a $1, 500 watch, but the haze makes it look cheap. I have to wipe the haze off of the crystal frequently so that I can see the face of the watch. During the first week of ownership, I brought the watch back to the retailer to inquire about the problem. The retailer acted confused and shrugged off my problem. Since I liked the watch so much, I kept wearing it. Before the 2 year warranty expired, I sent the watch back to Movado to request that they fix the problem. At that point, I was sure that the haze was a defect since my other Movado watch did not have the same problem. Movado performed some routine maintenance to my watch, and then sent it back to me without addressing my question about the haze. Again, I continued to wear the watch since I liked it so much. Recently, I brought the watch to a Movado store for a battery replacement. To my surprise, there was dust inside my watch underneath the crystal after they replaced my battery. I went back and forth with the Movado store employees before they finally agreed to fix the damage that they had caused to my watch while replacing the battery. At that point, I was angry and disappointed with Movado. I contacted Movado to make them aware of my experience in their store, and I mentioned my longstanding concern with the haze on my watch. Please see some of their responses to my e-mails:
"In checking the history of this model since the introduction in 2004, our technician has not shown an inordinate amount of repairs and or 'hazing' on this model and therefore this is not a manufacturer's defect. We believe it is due to wear and tear and also lack of maintenance." Here, Movado is asserting that there is no defect with my crystal because they have received few complaints about that particular model. They cite wear and tear, and a lack of maintenance, but my watch has had the problem from the first week that I owned it. I also had it maintained by them within the first 2 years of ownership, so there was no lack of maintenance on my part.
"Firstly, if your watch was purchased in 2005 it would no longer be covered under warranty. Also, by constantly wiping your watch with your shirt sleeves, this certainly would cause some type of abrasion. In cleaning a watch, it is recommended that a soft jewelers cloth should be used, not shirt sleeves. In terms of hazing, if your watch continue to show hazing initially, it could be a function of perspiration or perhaps humidity due to the weather pattern in Florida." Here, Movado tells me that they are not going to help me because my watch is out of warranty. I requested help twice when the watch was under warranty, and Movado didn't help me then either. Movado also tells me that I shouldn't have wiped the watch with my shirt sleeves. However, their store employee wiped my watch crystal several times with her rough coat sleeve during the battery replacement incident.
Finally, after several e-mails to Movado, they say this: "We are not sure of your dissatisfaction since our Movado Boutique and Movado Group, Inc. is covering the cost of your watch repair." I was very clear and articulate in describing the haze problem to them, and after trying to fend me off with several different defense tactics, they finally ended everything by acting like they didn't understand what I was saying to them.
I am very disappointed with my Movado purchase. When I pay for a luxury item, I expect to receive something of quality. I also expect to be treated well. Receiving such a poor quality item and poor customer service after spending $2, 500 with Movado has been very disappointing. I'm not sure what it would have cost Movado to replace my watch crystal, but I'm surprised that they would rather fight me than to help me receive the quality item that I paid them for.
Let me chime in...a year ago...I purchased the Rose Gold Movado unisex watch. After 6 months of wearing it to work, on and off...switching here and there with other watches...friends at work noticed the rose gold was coming off. That sucks. Then, I looked down one day... and the crystal was scratched and chipped. I asked the woman who sold it to me, why was it chipped, after all, I was TOLD it was sapphire crystal...NOT GLASS. She told me there was nothing I could do, since the warranty at the store was only 30 days. She said to ship it to Movado. Movado, THEN sends me a bill for $240 if I wanted them to fix it. Turns out...the two year warranty the seller told me about was ONLY on movement. I was LIED to by the sales lady. Movado sucks. And I even spoke with Movado management in my city, in which they told me the watch looked "worn hard." Like I wore it to my construction job for 6 months or something. The sales lady asked me if I'd been swimming or something in the watch! How rude! How stupid! What a minion! My best friend has the same issue with her Movado jewelry. Read the fine print people. There is no real warranty on external defects. Apparently wearing it "hard" means wearing it to your cosmetics management job for 6 months. You can buy a $10 watch and the movement can last YEARS...so to warranty the movement is nothing. I'd been trying to exchange the $600 watch for three months, and now its been a year since purchase. Never buy a watch with a glass face, that has no protective rim along the edge. I NEVER would have had I not been told it was unbreakable, sapphire crystal!
firstly I dont understand how your watch magically jumped from 1500 to 2500 in value. Secondly when you purchased the watch and noticed a problem you should have returned it to the store immediately, not worn it as if it was no problem, if you would have returned the watch in an un-worn condition, the manager would have more than likely exchanged the watch out for you for a new one, if they wouldn't exchange it, like the manager of that store didn't, you shouldn't have continued to wear it, you should have contacted the regional manager and explained your situation. Movado regional managers have the authority to have watches exchanged and even returned ( i have done it once, and it was no problem for them to get me a new watch) Also you might want to watch where you wear your watch. Since you describe the crystal as "hazy" then i assume you have condensation in the face, this only occurs from one thing. Gasket maintenance. if the watch is not completely water resistent then water can get in the face and cause discoloration and haze, or when you wash your hands with hot water, or take a hot shower, this excess heat can cause the gaskets to expand and the watch is no longer water proof. Sorry you had such a bad experience, but I honestly see fault on both sides. If you would have not accepted the store managers explanation and escalated the matter with the regional manager you probably would have had a different outcome, also waiting for almost 2 years to fix a problem that occured within the first week of purchase is a general no-no.
had a similar incident with MGI on battery replacement on my wife's movado. they call us back telling us the watch requires a complete overhaul due to it being "Dirty". Mind you my wife treat this watch like a expensive family heirloom. She wears it only on special occasion, and the rest of the time it's in a jewelry case. So you can imagine my Anger when they came up with that. I wrote a strongly worded letter to corporate, and to the Repair Unit at MGI. told them to send the watch back to me. I have a trusted jeweler in San Diego that I'll send it to doe battery replacement. I'm also watching for their response so I can send it to the FTC. The Watch should not be sold in the US if their going to use imaginary tactics on repairs and warranty items.

I recently purchased a Movado watch from Kay Jewelers from the Lincolnwood Mall in Skokie Illinois, The watch band seem to unscrew from time time so after a week or to I had a chance to return to Kay to have repaired an well I told them to just buff the band to remove a few scratch marks So after a few weeks in shop I was called to pick up.The repair was TERRIBLE there was scuff and scrapes on the ban, I told the maneger I can't accept this so she sent the Movado watch to the Movado factory it self im still waiting this hole process has been 70 days an counting.I also purchased a diamond ring same results well why not same warranty repair shop
Sorry no proof photos I didn't leave the store with the unsatisfactory repairs I only have the repair stubs
