The staff of Mr
The staff of Mr. Rooter was responsive and provided excellent communication during our late-night plumbing emergency. The call/appointment dispatch staff was kind, caring, empathetic and demonstrated the highest communication. They called numerous times to inform us of the time frame of the professional who would be coming to help us.
Our service provider was George C. who was kind, understanding and quickly was able to discern our need. He took care of our immediate need and provided clear options for the repair. He was outstanding.
Our high appreciation and praise for the stellar customer service and the quality of professional demeanor of everyone involved.
I really don't know where to start!
I really don't know where to start! Having your entire house's sewer backed is never a good thing. When Dave from rooter showed up I knew soon everything would be ok. It was the opposite of what I would have expected being in such a vulnerable position , especially when calling such a top brand company! Dave as a person and as extension of Rooter's company culture handled everything with care, transparency, and skill. He walked me through all the technicalities of the situation, providing options and pros and cons of each potential path forward. Building report and trust with some one when your pants are down and feeling exposed is one of the best human experiences you can have. Not enough stars to describe, but trust if your lucky enough to get David *** you are in the best hand :)
I saw a TV advertising from Mr
I saw a TV advertising from Mr. Rooter indicating they would perform drain cleaning for $95. The 5 second commercial provided a phone number and website address. I went online and saw the $95 drain cleaning again. I scheduled an appointment for $95 drain cleaning. Later, I received a phone call from someone at Mr. Rooter confirming the appointment window I had selected. Right before ending the conversation I was advised that the drain cleaning would be $95 and there would be a "dispatch fee" of $35.99 or $39.99, I can't remember which one she said, but I explained to representative that this is not $95. She said they always charge a dispatch fee. Well if you always charge a dispatch fee, then it needs to be disclosed in the advertising. I contacted several other plumbing companies and they disclosed the dispatch fee or said there is no dispatch fee. This is deceptive advertising and should be banned. Nowhere on Mr. Rooter's website do they indicate a dispatch fee would be charged. I called Mr. Rooter and asked to speak with the manager. I was advised that the manager was not available and would return my call later that day. One week has passed and I have not heard from the manager who was identified as Stephanie. Mr. Rooter should honor their advertised price or update their advertising to reflect that an additional fee will be charged.
Horrible experience
Horrible experience. Called to have an electrician replace a basic bathroom exhaust fan with a burned out motor. They sent a young guy who apparently had no clue how to do the job. They also told me when I called that they would have the replacement fan on their truck, but he didn't have one and looked at me like I was crazy. After scratching paint and bumping his ladder into the walls, he goes to the bathroom and starts to dismantle the fan motor (I later found out from the other electrician I called after this that the fan simply snaps in and out. Took the second guy 5 min to replace the whole thing). So the guy goes somewhere and returns 30 min later with a fan (that I confirmed from the model info costs

False claim of brocken main sewer drain
Please don't use this company for any plumbing needs. This company is not even registered under the name Mr. Rooter even though all operations and invoices are being handled under "Mr. Rooter." The company name is registered under 4648863 MB LTD. I was scammed by this company with $3000 worth of damages. They diagnosed a problem which did not exist. I then had to pay another company to prove the fraud. I was able to recover some of my losses in court but the fact remains that this company is full of DIRTY CON ARTISTS. Call anyone else.
Service quality and bad experience
Mr Rooter from Hamilton, 180 Volusia avenue, NJ was called on late July to fix my renter 281 Sprint St, Trenton, toilet which was draining water on the floor. I had asked her to call Roto Rooters, but she ended calling Mr. Rooter. Some one came and plunger her toiled for 10 minutes and took $350 cash. She called me an hour later and complained of persistent...

Called Pace plumbing to my home to fix pvc water line that had a small leak. AT MAX a 2'x2' hole was dug. Workers failed to call in advance at 830 or 9 so I left home at 1045 to run errands. Shortly after 11 they show up. They replaced a 6"piece of pve pipe that had the leak. They filled in the hole. Total time on property 45 mins at best. 30mins working and 15 standing around.
They charged me $225.00 for doing the job. Just one year ago they repaired same line for $140.00.
I called the office and was unable to locate owner of business. Spoke to some lady instead. She told me to hold and that she would look at bill.
When she came back to phone she stated she reviewed bill and that they actually gave me a break on the billing.
She told me "Looks like they had to break out the shovels, they should have charged you an additional $85.00 for that".
That would have brought my bill to $310.00 for a 30 min job OR $620.00 AN HOUR!
Must add never got the first "Thank you", "Sir" from the workers. Rude would best describe them. BEWARE OF MR ROOTER:-(
They got me too! They told me I signed the paperwork that it was my problem and I didn't know anything about plumbing. They left my sewer line exposed.
This guy is ridiculous. He knows nothing about plumbing and he is a lier. I do plumbing everyday and if these plumbers dug that hole repaired the line and covered it back up in thirty min they are superman. that hardly charged him anything for the work. We charge a minimum of $550.00 for this kind of job. what a LIER!
Rude, poor customer service
I called Mr. Rooter plumbing several days ago to make an appointment. They told me they would come Friday between 10 AM and 12 PM. When I called them Friday at 10 AM, they said they had no record of an appointment with me. They said they would come on Friday but it would be later so we rescheduled for 1:30 PM. I contacted them again at 1 o'clock to find out...

Heavily micro-managed company. Hiring offer not kept and written request found in trash can with chew spit on it. Employees work in horrible conditions, given nothing to help do the job and heavily criticized for any mistake (EVEN NOT YOUR OWN). Lied to repeatedly and payroll is something out of this world. Won't put hours or rate of pay on paystub and repeatedly ripped off own workers. Testimonials from multiple employees.
My suggestion, call someone else for service as there is a madness to their method which only benefits the top. Don't think about working there unless you are filling in an employment gap and have had a hepatitis C shot. Filthy office, shady managers, and if any word comes out of your mouth that is not making the company money will cost you your pay, then your job. BBB filed.
From someone that once worked at this place, I would recommend digging a ditch instead. At least you won't be screwed out of pay, respect, job and you feel good about a hard days work not screwing someone over in need.

Mr Rooter advertises a $99.00 fee for drain cleanout. However when they come to the house the price escalates to over $200. This is not made clear when an appointment is made or when they come out to your house. None of this is stated in their advertisement. I will not use this company again. Please avoid this company.
I was charged 7 thousand dollars more, than was first in written contract. And their still trying to add more cost. They had to redo the work 3 times, only after I called a second city inspector myself!
Overpricing
Less than a month ago, I called Mr. Rooter to install a kitchen faucet. I paid $417 which I thought was high but I've never had any work like this done before, and I had no idea what the going rate was until EVERYONE I know told me I got ripped off. Today, I noticed a strong mildew smell coming from under the sink and noticed it was leaking. I called Mr. Rooter, told them I paid $417 (I also joined their "Advantage Program" so the grand total was $532) and told them about the leak. They said they can send a plumber out for free, but I would have to pay for any work they would have to do. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY. I COULD OF SWORN he told me there was a warranty involved but apparently there is not.

Scam
I call Mr. Rooter to clear by drain from backing up; they came out and ran a camera down the pipe and told me that, the pipe from the house to the clean out need to be replace, because it was sagging and that will take care of my problems and I would not have any more backing up. They replace the pipe and i paid them; $2, 853.00 and two weeks lately, I had the same problem all over again. The supervisor that took my money gave me and my tenant that live in the house his cell phone number and we tried calling him for 3 days and his calls went straight to voicemail. I tried calling the number of Mr. Rooter, the same phone number I call before and it was disconnected. I had to get another plumber to take care of it, and he did. And he told me the reason the drain kept on stopping up because my tenant were flushing medicated wipes down the toilet, and on the box, it stated that these wipes could be flush down the toilet. This plumber only charge me $169.00, and he also told me that he did not see where they did any work. The owner of Mr. Rooter franchise were Mr. David Vickers and now, he since sold the francise.

Plumbing
On a Wednesday night I noticed that my lines where not draining, I called mr rootor as they are a big company. They arrived late afternoon and after trying to talk me into more work he finally unclogged drain. When he put the camera in he said it was full of grease and I need to replace the first five feet. He was very eager to do the job but I was heading back to work and it would have to wait. 8 days later the line clogged again and they came out. They were unable to unclog the line and left my roommate without sewage. I had them come in the next day, three hours late to replace the first five feet. After breaking my steps and digging up the pipe the plumber charged me the full price and then left. He did not replace the pipe and left a massive mess. He told me I had to replace my entire sewage line. After that they would not answer my calls and left me a week without sewage. It wasn't tell I threatened to do a charge back did they say they were going to show up. I lost wages cause I had to leave work early and lost a month of rent from my roommate. If they had simply said they do not have the tools to do the job then I would not be out 3000 dollars and no sewage system.

Strongly recommended against. Poor quality work which they will not stand behind and is not honestly described.
Botched repair on water main leading to house, managed to destroy threads on city supply and begin releaking within three months. When contacted about the recurrence of leak, was told was warranted for "30 days" but apparently they'd be happy to be paid again for repairing their own botch.
Lied at repair about the warrantee on it (said work was warranteed for much longer) and that they would be using PEX piping to replace the worn out PVC (but instead put a clumsy mess of PVC angles in place, which leaked at the joint by the fitting into the city water main and was overtorqued, causing a great deal of trouble to remove and requiring retapping.
WAY OVER-PRICED!
I was out of town when my wife called and told me that our water heater had leaked out all over the floor in the garage. The house is approx. 15yrs old so I figured the water heater needed to be replaced. I told her to turn off the main water supply and then the breaker for the HWH and then call around for estimates while I checked online home depot for HWH prices.
I guess she chose the biggest add in the phone book and that was a mistake. They came the next day and gave her an estimate of $1800 to replace a 40gal. GE gas water heater that costs about $300 bucks.
Apparently they would need to charge some standard astronomical hourly rate for labor, plus the cost of the HWH, plus a disposal fee for the old HWH (even though they would make money on the recycled copper), plus a city permit fee that I have never heard of in my life.
If I was there I could have taken care of it that night but a friend of mine called a plumber he knew in Ft. Worth who said he could swap out a water heater in 30 minutes for $200 bucks with NO fee, and no extra charges.
My friend's plumber did EXACTLY what he said. My wife had a new HWH sitting there waiting for him when he showed up and he swapped the old HWH out in less than 30 minutes, took the old one away and only charged us $200 bucks.
It cost us less than 1/3rd of the price to have a different plumber do the same work that Mr. Overcharge Rooter wanted to squeeze my unsuspecting wife for.
they should be ashamed that they take advantage of women like that who don't know any better...

Poor service, damaged toilets and problem was not fixed
I had plumbing problems and decided to call Mr Rooter as my regular plumbing company, Millcreek Plumbing, was all booked up. I needed to get my toilet unplugged before my company arrived! So, a man from Mr Rooter came over and when he came in the door, he didn't bother to wipe his muddied boots or take them off. He proceeded to walk over my new white bath mat as I had forgotten to move it before he got here. No apology and he was a miserable guy, very unfriendly. He ended up damaging both of my toilets. He didn't mention anything about the damage and I didn't notice it until he left. One week later, the toilet was plugged again. For the second time, the miserable guy came over and said there was nothing wrong with the toilet although he used his equipment again. Again, he got water and mud all over my bathroom and left dirty paper towels on the floor when the garbage can was right beside the toilet. I was charged $310 and still my toilet kept plugging up. He damaged my downstairs toilet so bad that I had to replace it and my upstairs toilet seat has two big chips out of the seat so I will have to replace it! The toilet wasn't ever fixed properly. The 3rd time it plugged, I called my regular company and they fixed the plugged toilet, installed a new toilet and they called here a couple of times to make sure everything was working properly. The plumber was polite, he wiped his shoes at the door and he cleaned up his mess. His services only costed $210 and that included a brand new water efficient toilet! I will never recommend Mr Rooter to anyone. If you are looking for a good plumber who charges very reasonable price, call Millcreek Plumbing in St. Thomas. They are great!
Damaged drainage pipe and refuse to fix it
DO NOT USE THIS PLUMBER! We called Mr. Rooter to unclog our main drainage line leading from our house. They got their snake stuck in the pipe and told us that they had to cut in to the pipe to get their snake out and that they would patch it up when they were done. 4 days later every drain in our house backed up, including the toilets. We dug up the pipe that they had "patched" and sewage started bubbling up. We immediately called them and demanded that they come back and properly patch the pipe. They said someone would be out that day. No one came. At 6, the after hours operater called and said that they were too busy and no one could come and they were also too busy the next day so they would call us on Monday. We told them that was unacceptable and we needed someone out the next day. They caused the problem, they needed to prioritize the repair. The girl promised someone would call me at 8 am. No one called. No one called the whole day. Or Monday. We work during the week and can't be home during the day to wait for the plumber (who probably won't show up anyway, given the previous weekend experience) so the next Saturday we call back and again demand someone come out and fix our pipe that THEY cut to get THEIR equipment out of. Keep in mind the whole week we were unable to use the dishwasher, clothes washer, or to flush any of the toilets more than once/day or everything would back up. The same rude receptionist answered and told us that she'd have the manager call us back. No one called. At 4 pm we called back again and demanded to speak to the highest ranking person there. The same receptionst claimed she was the only one there and she was just the dispatcher. At that point she told us the manager wouldn't be in until the next day and she'd have him call us then. Yeah right. Don't believe anything these people tell you. They are liars and they do shoddy work. They caused more damage to our plumbing than the original problem that we had and they won't take any responsibility for it. DO NOT CALL THIS PLUMBER. They're a little cheaper because they do poor quality work and horrible customer service.

Poor diagnosis of problem and no repair
My shower did not work. A technician from Mr. Rooter Plumbing came, turned on the cold water faucet and the shower stem. No water came from the shower. He never touched the hot water faucet. He took off the shower head and water flowed slightly. When he put it on again, no water came. He told me all I needed was a new shower head. I got one the next day. Still had the same problem. I was charged $45.00 as a travel charge. Today I had to call another plumber. He had my shower fixed in under 10 minutes. It was simply an adjustment to the diverter stem. Mr. Rooter's technician was very casual in his testing out the problem, and his suggested fix was because of a wrong diagnosis made from very little hands on work. Such incompetence is not acceptable and believe me, I will never even consider calling this company again. Unfortunately, I believed their half-page ad in our yellow pages.

Read full review of Mr. RooterIncompetent service
Don’t ever call or hire this company. They are incompetent. The bottom line is I spent $569 to clear a clogged kitchen drain that ran freely for only one week! Here is my story:
On a Saturday of a four-day holiday weekend our kitchen sink became clogged. These things always happen on a weekend. Knowing our regular plumber would not be available, I postponed my call until Monday morning. However, that day was also New Year’s Eve, and our plumber had decided to also take that day as a holiday. Not wanting to wait two more days, I called Mr. Rooter.
Mr. Rooter arrived within two hours with a price book showing their listed service fees. To auger the drain, it would cost $213. That seemed high, but we were in a bind, and it was a holiday. The plumber spent three hours to no avail. He said that he would have to go to step 2 – the hydro jet process. This would cost an additional $469 for the specialized equipment to scour every sewer line in the house. The plumber guaranteed that this would completely clean all of our pipes.
When I complained that I had already spent $213 for no positive results, he talked to his boss who lowered the price to $100. Again in a bind, I authorized the service for the next day. The plumber had problems getting the small water jet hose far enough into the vent on the roof to get into the main sewer line. He would have flooded the kitchen if I hadn’t yelled for him to shut down the machine. Instead of pushing the clog down the sewer line, the water was backing up into the sink.
After working for another three hours, he finally was able to (partially) clear the drain. Water was running freely. Unfortunately, one week later the drain was clogged again. I called the Mr. Rooter plumber to inform him that the drain was clogged again, and he started talking of additional options for more money.
So then I called my regular plumber, and for $95 he totally cleared the drain in one hour. We decided that the next time our regular plumber is unavailable; we will visit friends or stay in a hotel for a couple of days. It would still be cheaper than calling Mr. Rooter.
FRAUD of a Senior Citizen
Mr Rooter of San Fernando was called for a clogged drain service on Saturday 10-13-2012. They met with my 76 year old mother and said that they could not clear it and that they needed to go on th roof to clear the clog. After several hours, they said that they had to open the wall and the pipes to use a special machine, the "hydro jet 4000" at a cost of $3, 961.00. I put a stop to the service and aske d them to leave so that i could get a second opinion.
I called another service who cleared the clog in about 10 minutes with a standard snake the following day.
Mr Rooter is a SCAM! and they are taking advantage of senior citizens like my 76 year old mother. STAY AWAY!

Double billing
I had a hot water leak under the slab in my home. The person who located the leak called Mr. Rooter and was told that they could insert a plastic tubing within the half inch copper tubing that was leaking and thus bypass the leak.
When the Mr. Rooter 'technicians' (note they don't call themselves plumbers) arrived they affirmed that they could try to insert the plastic tubing which would fix the leak for $266.33 but they wouldn't guarantee it would work. They had no plastic tubing on the truck but said they would purchase some.
They left and I opened up the drywall to make the pipes accessible. When they returned they had not purchased the plastic tubing but instead attempted to insert quarter inch copper tubing into the half inch leaking tubing. Before they started I told them that the copper tubing was not flexible enough to snake through the leaking tubing. They ignored me and tried to insert it but were unsuccessful. They charged me the $266.33 since they couldn't guarantee it would work, however they never tried to insert plastic tubing as I was originally told.
They left and later called to say that they could run PEX tubing through the stud walls to bypass the leaking copper tubing. I opened up the stud walls and they returned, installed the PEX tubing and the problem was solved. They charged $159.27 for this service.
Then they spen considerable time and effort to convince me to have my septic tank pumped for $650 and to have my kitchen drain cleaned for $350. These guys are high pressure salesmen who use scare tactics to make a sale.
Mr Rooter is a rip off
I wish I would have found this site sooner- we were so ripped off by Mr. Rooter. we paid extra for an extended service plan which gave us priority scheduling and discounts on service.
I called and scheduled for a plumber to come at 5 PM. on Friday. (The person who answered said because of our extended plan we got priority scheduling...)
At 7:30 PM they called and said they'd have to come Saturday morn- I asked for the first appointment- they said fine and scheduled me for 9 AM. At 10:15 AM I called when no plumber has shown up yet- They said the technician was still on his first visit at 8 AM- (!?) still no-one showed up- 11:15 AM I cancelled.
PLEASE LEARN FROM MY MISTAKE!
-ALSO- Reed's Sewer and Drain came to the rescue- did a great job- (FOR 1/2 the price of Mr. Rooter with the supposed Discount!)
Mr.Rooter is a franchised company i am not saying what has been done to all of you with complaints was right in the least bit but you really can not knock the franchise for a few techs who are hacks and franchise owners who are scam artist. i think you all should make calls to the franchise office and let them know how you were miss treated so the techs and honest owners dont be made to look bad when some of us are out here really trying to make it and treat every customer as if they were thier own family
