Book Search Plus
Rhapsody Book club, part of the DoubleDay book club and others like Science Fiction Book Club, offer a service (a third party service through their club) called Book Search Plus. The first complaint is that nothing you purchase through Book Search Plus can be used to fulfill membership agreements (buy so many books to fulfill your membership). Second, books purchased through them will not count for offers like buy two get one free. Third complaint about Book Search Plus; you can not use the 'Bill Me' option. You have to pay up front with a credit/debit card. And they DO NOT bill you till they ship the book. So if you are using a debit card, you absolutely must make sure you have the money in the bank till they actually send the book, or you might overdraw. My biggest complaint about Book Search Plus; you can not get any information through the club about this service. How to contact them to find out when you will get your book. When they will charge your credit/debit card. Nothing. The book club should have some contact information available. But they do not. They absolve themselves of any liability or repsonsibility when you purchase a book through Book Search Plus. It doesn't matter to them that you are purchasing the book through their book club. To them, it is a third-party service, so they don't have to be responsible. AT ALL. I ordered a book over two weeks ago through Book Search Plus. I had ordered one once before and got it no problem. This time, it seems to be on permanent backorder. Since I can not get in touch directly with the Book Search Plus company (I tried the email address on the packing slip with my last book, but it came back as undeliverable), I have to get in touch with my Rhapsody Book club and hope they can help. They can't. They aren't responsible for that company. So now this company (that I can't even find out anything about online, even if it's real and exists) has my credit card information. And I have no idea when or if I will ever get my book. This is not how a company should be run. The book club itself should be responsible. They should at least provide some contact information to their customers so if there is a problem someone can do something about it. But no. Nothing.
Stealing other MP3s
I have discovered that the Napster Software is mis-indentifing tracks I have downloaded from Amazon and placing their license restrictions on unristricted MP3se. I happened to discover this by chance when I tried to send an MP3 to a friend. When the Napster screen popped up I deleted the track and downloaded a new version from Amazon. The same thing happened and will continue to happen until I remove the Napster software.
I suspect Napster is aware of this and chooses not to address it because they have not been sued yet - lets hope that changes soon.

Incomplete albums
As I have discovered, extra tracks means less than original album and maybe
one other unidentifiable track so, I want a full copy of my purchased albums With or without the so called extra crap. So, I expect one of these options: Complete albums or complete refund, one or the other, ether would satisfy me, however neither will not so you decide do you want a battle on your hands or not. Most of my downloads were of the Doors however those that were not came off without a hitch. When I say unidentifiable, it wasn't on the original album and that is my main interest, the original album. Should you not comply, I will call my bank thus their will be none sucked further from me.

Rip-Off /Horrible Customer Care
My daughter subscribed to a free trial offer from Rhapsody music when she received her first MP3 player, Christmas of 2008. She couldn't load any songs on to her player, so she never used the service (she thought she had cancelled the service during the trial period). Not realizing that we were paying for a service that was not being used, we saw the monthly charges to our account for more than a year. Rhapsody never sent any communications, electronic or otherwise, so my daughter was unaware that the account was active. When we finally realized what was happening, we contacted the credit card company to dispute the charges and cancel the service. The credit card company instructed us to contact Rhapsody to cancel the account and request a refund for the time allowed (120 days). After 3 lengthy, extremely frustrating phone conversations, we were informed that, since we had contacted the bank first, instead of coming directly to Rhapsody, our account was locked and they couldn't refund us any money. The bank/credit card company informed us that the dispute issue was closed according to their records, and we were to inform Rhapsody that they would not refuse a reversal of charges. (The "your account is locked" was a deception that I pointed out to them -- they tried to make it seen that the bank was preventing them from reversing charges.)
Rhapsody has a spiteful and dishonest policy, and customer care is further damaged by having to deal with ineffective and clueless workers in another country -- it was often hard to understand the employees.
I see at this site, that complaints against Rhapsody are numerous.

Try cancelling a subscription to Rhapsody before you blame it on the consumer.
after 3 phone calls to customer service and talking to people you could barely understand and emails from them telling you that subscription was cancelled and money would be credited back to bank account and wasn't for over a month and a half. They even tried telling me my banking info was wrong, And it wasn't. I finally fired off an email to the company threatening them with filing a complaint to the Attorney General. Money was back in my bank account the next morning.
In legal land these type of agreements are called "Tied sales agreement/contracts." Since they are small amount and given that virtually all of the consumer protection laws in the U.S. have been shut off these companies can run rampant and o what they want to do. I avoid them like the plague. I publish a vacation/travel newletter with 20K subscribes and I tell them to stay clear of firms like Rhapsody.

Let us take look at this issue and why you seem to think someone else should be responsible for you or your daughter's miss management of there accounts.
The glaring admission that you saw your account (probably credit card) was charged for over a year.
So what happen to the first month you saw the charge on the card. Oh wait you didn't look at the bill, ignored it, or simply did not teach your daughter the responsibility of reviewing her bills. Either way I believe this had nothing do with company yet the lack of responsibility on you and your daughter.
I have been using Rhapsody for years and music match before it was Rhapsody and had no issues because anytime I sign up for an online account that requires a credit card I review every month to ensure everything is correct.
I will agree about the foreign support or outsourcing support to other countires. More jobs shipped over sea even if by wire.
Deceptive Offers
I joined Napster after looking at a 7-day trial membership offer claiming I would only be charged $5 / month only after the 7 days. Within a couple days my account charged over $60.00 for an entire year's membership.
When I finally found a customer service phone number on their website and waited for over 20 minutes to speak to a person they told me I had authorized the payment and would not refund the fees.
Every time I downloaded a supposedly free trial membership song their were no less than 4 windows before downloading the song; their must have been some authorization window, right?
At best the site is vague or ambiguous, but I think it's deliberate. Anyone want to start a class-action?

Cancelled in in August
Cancelled Rhapsody and removed it from my computer. I am still being billed $12.99 on my credit card. Please adjust and take my name off of your account.

Rhapsody sucks. Their "support" staff is all farmed offshore to India and there's nothing I dislike more than some guy in Dehli telling me his name is "Johnny." They recently changed their interface too and it blows dead bears. They "lost" my entire library of Playlists. I went to Spotify. For half the price, I'm getting better quality sound and haven't had any "issues" with them as yet.
Call your bank and make cancelled any further payment, after all its your money they are making off with and see if your bank can rescue any of those funds. bpolinger@gmail.com
Charged 3 months after online cancellation
I investigated an online account with Rhapsody on a trial basis. Exceptionally easy to set up on line. Found that the service did not work for me with my current mp3 player, and attempted to cancel the trial on the same day. I quickly discovered the convenience for cancellation was not there. No online cancellation URL was present, I needed to call a phone line, which I did. I was instructed that there was a new url that account members could use to cancel online. So, I entered that URL and completed the cancellation process. Or so I thought. Turns out we have been billed the last 3 months for the service. Today I called in to complain and cancel. Though I went through the proper channels to cancel the service, since I did not have a confirmation number (their system failed to send one when I submitted the e-mail), I was on the hook for the charges. They finally caved in on one month, but I don't consider that to be equitable. I would strongly encourage you to think twice before accepting a "free trial" of Rhapsody.

Cancelling Membership
RHAPSODY monthly unlimited offer is a SCAM and so is their cancellation policy.
RHAPSODY purposely makes it difficult for you to cancel your membership to increase the amount of billings they can make. I consider this service unreputable for this reason. Why would a service not allow you to cancel your membership in the same fashion that it used to start your membership. To start my membership all I had to do was provide my information online and presto I had an online with account that I could cancel my membership at any time. When I did decide to cancel my membership because it was misrepresented as a flat fee for music downloads, which in turn was a flat fee for downloads that you COULD NOT KEEP unless you kept the monthly membership active, I found that the only way to cancel was to wait until their hours of operation and CALL and talk to a representative. This INCONVENIENT method of cancellation of course was not presented when you sign up. The representative by the way could not speak English and I have yet to see my cancellation completed. Since there is nothing more than a phone call, I have no documentation trail to prove of the request so they just keep charging me. I am now having to call my credit card company in order to have the charges refused because they will not stop charging me.

I CANCELLED A YEAR OR MORE AGO AND THEY STILL BILL MY CREDIT CARD
Yes, their advertising is very misleading considering that you only wanted to sign up for a free trial but got charged even though you did not actually consent to a purchase or had an idea that clicking on an obscure link was doing so. I had Rhapsody guide me through the process that one could take to make a purchase which still confirmed that I had not done so. I can't say that Rhapsody is knowingly charging you but there must be a glitch in their system that needs to be identified. I believe that this could not be happening to all but at times their system malfunctions and by clicking on particular links at that particular time, triggers a charge to your card. I would isolate these times to be right after you first sign up for the so called free trial. Nonetheless, that's their bad, not mine. One other thing though, they kept denying me the refund and my bank, Well Fargo, did not protect me. They assumed that I must have authorized the purchases since Rhapsody said so. IP addresses are associated with any and all internet connections including purchase transactions. Wells Fargo did not go that far in checking for an IP and denied my claim. I filed a dispute with Wells Fargo demanding that they step up their technology when it comes to internet purchase transactions. They seem to be oblivious to the fact that tracking purchases via an IP address is possible and is something that they should be doing anyway, but said that they would involve their IT department at that point.
Nonetheless, the GOOD NEWS is that I submitted a complaint to the Better Business Bureau and miraculously my full refund was approved by Rhapsody and a check was received in the mail promptly. I did address the IP address issue in my complaint but not sure if this was the determining factor. By the way, my BBB complaint submission was filed under “deceptive practices”. I suggest that you file with the Attorney General as I also did, and to no avail, but make sure that you file a claim with the BBB. The Attorney General’s initial response to me was that they do not investigate individual claims and will not do so with mine but they do take notice when an excessive amount of claims are being launched. So this can only be beneficial for everyone concerned at some point in time but does nothing for you now. Also, I cancelled the claim with Wells Fargo and never determined what they came up with but I suggest that you pursue the IP address issue with your banking institution as well. If the BBB does not resolve the issue in your case, the IP address could be the determining factor. I hope this helps.
What is Rhapsody's physical address or location or home company? I need this information to file a complaint with the attorny general office. Please email me at lshoaf@msn.com
I agree totally... this company misrepresents itself in that you think that you are getting a free trial only to learn that you are being charged. I was charged 200.00 on the first day (yesterday) of my free trial. Why do I need a free trial if I am willing to spend that amount on the first day of it? The terminology they use is meant to be misleading. They also changed me for 2 memberships when I don't even realize how so. They told me how I did it but I was just navigating though there services and had not selecting an obvious option for an additional membership. There response was basically "ah ha, got you"! Too bad, we don't give refunds. I am so mad! This really is the BIGGEST SCAM. I just cancelled and hope that I don't get the same problem. I am in the process of waiting for a call back from Rhapsody in hopes that these charges can be reversed but with the warning from the rep that it won't happen.
Rhapsody just charged us almost 700.00 on a free trial. When I went on the site we had 2 memberships on the charge. I have yet to download the site itself. I called and they were no help. I am now having to go through our bank to fight this. Again, whoever got the 700.00 worth of music at my expense enjoys it. And Rhapsody, you must work on your customer service this is beyond poor. No doubt someone is using your Free trial as their benefit! By the way the money that was stolen from us, is what pays my physically disabled sons medication. See if you guys can sleep at night.
My 13 year old daughter bought a mp3 player and it had a 30 day free trail to rhapsody, the day she tryed rhapsody they charged my account $110.00. This is the biggest scam.
I completely agree that you should be able to cancel the service online--the same way that you signed up; however, I fail to see how anyone who read the terms on the Rhapsody website could think that they can keep unlimited downloads for $12.99/month without a subscription.
The Rhapsody website clearly states that if you cancel your subscription service the tracks that you listened to will no longer be available. The only way to own tracks is to purchase them from the rhapsody mp3 store.
Free trial
They offered a 14 day free trial. I couldn't find information on the free trial so I proceeded to sign up. When I found out it required a months purchase I clicked out of the page. By that time I had given my credit card info. They never sent an e-mail verifing my purchase so I had no idea I had signed up until my credit card statement came in the mail. Unfortunately I missed the billing on the previous statement so I had payed for 2 months of service. When I called them to cancel they would only credit me for the third month they were about to bill me even though you could go onto the site and see I had never used it. Its a complete scam.

Unauthorized charges
Purchased online music download for $10.99 through the Rhapsody client software. The download did not begin and my account information did not reflect the purchase or a failed download.
I re-attempted the process, which began the download and completed successfully. Upon checking my statement, I noticed that I had been billed twice. I contacted the company 5 times through chat and phone conversations. They initially claimed that it was a pending state and would drop off from my bank... which can happen, so I waited.
The transaction committed and I contacted them again, which led to several arguements of them saying that their records do not reflect a second purchase - implying that I am either ignorant or that I am attempting some type of scam - never, ever making an effort to research their application for fault.
I escalated until I finally found a supervisor that was US based, which takes more than an hour of speaking to people that are literally turning pages and giving me that same story and wasting my time. (I have to do this each time I call, by the way)
While waiting for the last supervisor - I called my bank security to file a claim on my cell. I had 2 phones on speaker and they both answered at the same time. I allowed the Rhapsody supervisor to hear the bank security rep confirm the second charge and initiated a charge back. The Rhapsody rep didn't really care about my wasted time, my frustration or the current state of the fiasco... and informed me that they could'nt just service me as a customer and save my time or research the issue and call me back. All they can do is fraudently charge me and not deal with the issue. AWESOME!
THEY CAN CHARGE YOU, BUT CONVENIENTLY NOT SEE THE CHARGE IN THEIR RECORDS AND THEY WILL NOT BUDGE TO FIGURE OUT THEIR OWN MISTAKE. THEY INFORMED ME THAT THIS IS THEIR ACCEPTED COURSE OF ACTION.

Count me in on the lawsuit
Very disappointed ☹️
fraudulent credit card charges
Chase fraud department called to inquire if I charged $1 on Napster, which I did not. Seems this is such a popular site to test stolen credit cards, Chase has to call their customers to verify. Any reputable business would implement their own security procedures.

I telephoned RN Rhapsody Music two or three months ago to cancel service. I removed program from my computer, but have continued to receive monthly charge of $12.99 on my credit card. I am requesting here that the account be cancelled immediately.
i did not order this service and i saw where it was added to my credit card. Please remove my name.
I need to know how to cancel as well. I have yet to find a phone number to call and cancel...thanks
DOES ANYONE HAVE THE PHONE NUMBER TO CALL TO CANCELL RHAPSODY. THEY ARE BILLING ME AND I DON'T EVEN HAVE IT. THANKS
I signed up for the 14 day free trial and later found out (when a credit card was declined) that Rhapsody had charged me for the free downloads promised in the agreement. I spent over 2 hours on the phone speaking to people of Indidan descent who I could hardly understand and also were not willing to refund my money. A total nightmare! They told me there was a difference between downloading music and buying it? But why would I buy music if I have a 14 day FREE trial period! Shady compnay. I will get my money back. This is not right.
I have not tried calling yet to cancel my account(s) but I do not ever remember signing up specifically for Rhapsody. What I do remember signing up for was something called Real Networks Superpass where I was suppose to be able to download tv shows and movies. I now find I'm getting charged for REAL.COM Online (14.99), Rhapsody Music (14.99), and REALARCADEGAME (9.99). I did not realize that when I signed up for one thing I would be getting charged separately for three things (two of which I had not expectation was part of the deal). I am planning to cancel all of them and hope I don't get the run around like those I have just read.
Don't get lured into subscribing to Rhapsody! A total ripoff! I was double billed monthly for only one account (for 2 months). When you call their billing department you speak to India. I cancelled my account, was finally credited and guess what? I received another debit from my bank account from Rhapsody this month! They have no record of the debit, say my account was cancelled and don't know how this could happen. I've emailed the Better Business Bureau about them and will contact my bank to have them investigated.
I discovered this on my credit card billing. I did NOT agree to purchase this.
Did you ever get your money refunded? not happy in OH
I agree, I just checked my checking account today and noticed where Rhapsody has been billing me for a service which I never used and canceled before the 14 days were up. I personally talked with a representative and he assured me that my subscription was canceled and that i would not be billed! They are going to be getting an earful from me today!
my son bought a mp3 player that only used Rhapsody. He joined, tried to download music to no avail, cancelled Rhapsody and purchased an Apple. Rhapsody has been billing him since for two years - unfortunately he does not check his bank statements but he cancelled and thought they would do the right thing and not bill him. I told him to file a complaint with the FTC and the /Attorney General in the state where Rhapsody is located.
i agree, this company is a total rip off. 14 day free trial and i canceled it on the 2nd day. Looking on my bank statement, they charged me 15 and 12 within the month
illegal deduction of funds from my account
i was charged 38.00 for something that i never ordered and i want the money put back onto my account before i file criminal charges against your company.

While reconciling our checkbook for the year we had noticed that Napster has been double charging our account for the past year. Error was due to entering same information (we thought) in to access our account. Then we find we had been charged twice a month for the service.
Called Napster to get a refund, They offered 2 months for one account only. Would NOT refund the entire year stating that both accounts had been used. I don't know how this could be true but the billing support person swore by it.

So I too just discovered that "Rhapster" has been double charging me for two years. TWO YEARS! I initially got the app through Apple iTunes and they have been charging me $10.79 a month on top of Rhapsody turned Napster that has been charging me $10.80. I called iTunes and they only show the $10.79 and then I called Napster directly and they know nothing about the iTunes charge. Apparently according to Apple and Napster that they are completely separate from each other. Well, I unsubscribed from Napster directly from their website and wouldn't you know it, my Apple iTunes App followed suite. Now tell me there is no connection. Also when I talked to a Napster representative via chat (because that is the only way you can apparently talk to them) they were trying to make me believe that maybe my payment card was compromised. Nope, Ive been deliberately double charged all this time. And I can bet that they won't even think twice about refunding my money. I'd like to find out if there are more people who are dealing with this same issue too. If so we need to generate a class action complaint/lawsuit against them. This is BS!
Unauthorized charge by Napster. Seems like a test charge. We actually received a product that we didn't order. The address was slightly wrong.
i've been trying to e-mail napster to cancel & cant get an e-mail address to do so; they do not acknowledge mobile info (username & a password given to me by them ) yet they continue to bill me on my phone bill. help! give me music or cancel this non service.
Automatically billed for services I did not order
I have a subscription to Rhapsody. It is paid for automatically on my American Express Card. When reviewing my bill, I saw where I was also charged for Realarcade Subscription and Superpass. I did not order these other two subscriptions. The cost was an additional 10.87 and 16.31 respectively. When I called, the call center in India took my call. They insisted that I must have ordered them by mistake. Which I did not. I have not always been billed for these and I have had my subscription for about one year. I cancelled my Rhapsody subscription and asked for the other two charges to be removed. I was put on hold for over ten minutes and then disconnected. It was simply too much hassle to call back.

I signed up for what I thought I was a free 60-day trial from Rhapsody.com on 3/15/2011. After the initial sign-up process, I find out that the free period was for only 30days and that I could not download any music. So I immediately cancelled the account.
On the week ending in 5/13/2011. I checked my bank account and noticed that the account was in overdraft and upon further investigation I found out that Rhapsody.com had charged my account twice for $10.71 cause my bank account to over draft. One charge was 15 days after I signed up and cancelled and which was against what they had originally said in the free offer. I was not supposed to be billed for 30 days instead I was billed in 15 days.
This first charge went unnoticed because my account still showed the correct balance. It was not until when they billed my account another 10.91 that my bank charged me two over draft fees.
When I saw this I called Rhapsody and spoke with customer service representative Benan who spoke with Indian accent. He told me that they would refund my money and that if the bank did not refund the overdraft fees to call back after my account had been credited the two month that Rhapsody had charged me and they would pay the fees.
ON 5/19/2011 I called my bank once the charges had been reversed and they told me that it was not their fault and that they would not refund the overdraft fees and that I should contact Rhapsody. I call them back and I spoke to Benan who transferred me to Hamilton who said he was a level two supervisor and there was no one else I could speak with about this matter. He told me that he could not refund the banks fees unless I could produce the original email cancellation from Rhapsody. I told him I never received on and that his system had mad a mistake. I ask him if that was possible he said no that the system never makes a mistake.
So now I am stuck with paying two overdrafts to the banks at 35.00 each.
I called Real networks that are the Parent company and they said they were not associated with Rhapsody any more and they transferred me to J.R. who the transferor said was the Director of Customer Services. I left him a voice mail (5/19/2011) She also gave me a phone number but she said she was not allowed to give out J.R. direct line.
My next step is to contact the attorney General office about this matter. This people are scam artist. I am the type of person that if I am wrong I will say I am wrong. I know I cancel the account right after I joined up. Why would I pay just to listen to songs? I can watch the video and listen for free on YouTube.
If others have had this experience lets band together and sue these people they are scams.
Rhapsody is a rip off. I saw an online ad to subscribe free for 60 days. But when I signed up and gave them my car information I saw that it was only for 30days free trial and I was unable to down load songs so I immediately cancelled my account. I usually don't check this particular bank account unless it is low or unless I need to put money in it to make on line purchases. When I checked it this is what I noticed. I open the Rhapsody account on 3/15/2011 and they charged my account after I had cancelled it on 3/29/2011 - 15 days after I signed up and cancelled.
So I called them up and the gentlemen I spoke with in CS said that they would refund the two charges and if My Bank did not pay for the two over-drafts from my bank that were caused by Rhapsody charging my account twice that Rhapsody would pay for them. So i waited until the charges where reversed nnd I called my bank. My bank told me that they would not pay because Rhapsody cause the problem and they should pay. I call Rhapsody on 5/19/2011 and spoke with a supervisor by the Name of Hamilton who told me that If i didn;t have the original cancellation email they would not pay the two overdraft's cause by their unautorized charges to my account. Now I am stuck with paying the bank over $70.00.
I told Hamilton that I never received any cancellatioin email and that I trusted in what I saw on their site that it had been cancelled. To date I can still access the account and it still shows active so I am affraid they will keep charging me.
I contacted Real networks and they said that Rhapsody is not longer one of their companies and they transferred me to J.R. who is suppose to be the Director of Customer service.
These people r scammers because sometimes things do not work like their cancellation process. Also, why did they charge me 15 days latter when I was suppose to have at least 30 days.
Tony B.
We're having the same issue. My husband called today and the supervisor told him that she would refund a month and then extended that to a couple of months. My husband told her that he would be contacting our bank about this to get more money back since he never requested this. The woman said that since he said he was going to the bank, she wouldn't refund "a penny". Great customer service! Off to the fraud department we go!
i know what rhapsody is (my son has it) and i never signed up for it but i have been billed for it. it is a rip off. i just tried to call there 886# on my account bill and it is NOT a working #. if i can find an address for these muther ###ers i'll send them something.
I always thought RealNetworks was a legit company, but it is pretty clear they are scam artists. I recently found the recurring $14.99 "Superpass" charge on my bill going back six months. I never subscribed to their services, never agreed to a "free" trial, and never gave them our credit card info. Yet somehow my wife's name and e-mail and my credit card were tied to the account (never received any e-mails from them either-- funny how that works.)
Called the Superpass support. They closed the account, but wouldn't refund my money, even though there was never any activity on the Superpass account. They told me to complain to the credit card company. I called my bank and they refunded us the money for the past 3 months, but they wouldn't refund the rest, since it would require filing a formal investigation (a process that would cost the bank more than the remaining $45.) The bank did arrange a conference call with my wife and the Superpass support, but the jerks at Superpass said they wouldn't do anything without the formal investigation.
My wife thought "Superpass" was an innocuous gas station charge or something and had ignored it on the bill-- I'm glad she finally asked me about it, or we would be out even more money. Judging by the other comments on this site, I doubt I am alone. Someone really needs to get a class action lawsuit going against this company.
Update - I was able to get my old subscription back after going thru 2nd tier support - it looks like you just have to escalate to right tier support with the power to authorize changes.
(This was posted under "Buggy Software", but it's also regarding billing so I'm posting here as well.)
I just experienced frustration with Rhapsody service. Yesterday, the application quit working - so I did the usual clean up which did not fix the problem - it would not play the tracks but speed right through each track. I was signed into the account and internet connection was working fine. I did a clean reinstall - and it worked fine - this was yesterday. I opened Rhapsody today and saw the library was missing some stuff - I was going to check out the help - but noticed that my account subscription was changed to $14.99/mo Rhapsody to Go! I didn't change it - I've been an Unlimited Rhapsody customer since February 2005, paying $89/year and after the reinstall, the subscription info changed. I chatted with customer service rep and he would not revert it back to the way it was. ABSOLUTELY ridiculous! and I think quite fraudulent - to change subscriptions on customers without their consent! The rep said he had to escalate this matter and I will hear back in 24-48 hours - but for now, I'm posting here and I will contact our State's Consumer Protection dept.
These people at RM supperpass from REA are worse than common thieves, thieves just kill you once these people suck you dry in the process they are blood suckers that once they get into you they are almost impossible to get rid of. I will be calling again Monday morning trying to get rid of this unwanted (NON)service.
BEWARE of signing up for Rhapsody's FREE 14 day trial. In a 3 day period I was charged over $3000! I would NEVER use this website!
I too have been ripped off by this Co., and I never signed up with them. My wife is on the phone with our credit card co. right now putting in a complaint and an investigation.
Cancellation
I can't believe how difficult it is to try to cancel the free 7-day trial its absolutely ridiculous. The instructions tell you to sign in then click on my account in the top left hand corner select account status and billing menu then SIMPLY chose the change membership option. Believe you me there is NOTHING SIMPLE about this process, i can't even get signed in never mind anything else. SOMETHING NEEDS TO BE DONE ABOUT THIS
A warning to anyone thinking of trying the Free Trial then cancelling BE AFRAID VERY AFRAID !
I agree took me fours tries and about a 40 minute wait. they dont answer so you will hang up and they can charge you. I refused to hang up until they refunded my 14.95
Sir
I am so anoid that you are still taking money from me. I have cancelled, i have never used your service. I cancelled.I would like a refund of money. My id is;[protected]
mr Jackson..
Terrible cancellation process
I tried to cancel online. They give you an 800 number to call that has a 30+ minute wait no matter when you call. I am still on hold with them for the second time (had to abandon the first one after 30 minutes because other things in life won't wait that long :().
There has to be a law against this. I do not have to talk to anyone to join but have to waste a few hours of my life listening to this absurd repetition of how much they will help me resolve any problems I have with them. The problem I have with you is that you are keeping your customers by force!
BBB and AG next. Seems like I have a lot of time available to complain!
i found the number for cancelation straight away in my account information and clicking on cancel my account! it gave me the number that glen has written. i phoned it and my call was answered within 8 and a half minutes! they canelled it and its done! so i dont understand all this confusion! however i do agree that phoning to cancel is wrong ... i have a big problem about phoning people you could call it a phobia so its taken me weeks to get up the courage and ring haha! i do think its also a massive ripoff! i thought it was 15 downloads a month but on my account it clearly said all mp3s are renewed every 3 MONTHS wtf! complete ripoff i will never use them again!
I have been trying to cancel napster for several months and this evening i found the phone number to do just that, im over the moon and thought i would share this amazing find to all those as unfortunate as me.
The number is england [protected].
I hope this helps!
I have tried numerous ways to cancel my free trail with napster. All the help functions on their site gives instructions on how to cancel online. There are no such prompts everytime I tried to follow the prompts it ends with a business phone # that closes eatern standard time. The help funtion is very misleading.
Napster are nothing but complete rip off merchants, stay clear of this company all together.
Stay clear of their company at all costs!
I joined napster about a year ago, upon trying to sign-on to download music, it wouldn't let me into my account. About a week later I gave up after e-mailing them for help, the e-mails I received were generic at best, basically it said I had something set improperly in my P.C.
So I did what anyone else would do and cancel the free trial, well, I received an e-mail saying I had to do it in person over the phone, I e-mailed back stating it was all set-up via internet and I should be able to cancel via internet, so just cancel the subscription. Fast forward about one year later, I was checking my online bank statement and noticed a charge from napster, they were still charging my account and I didn't even notice! So I wrote them a nasty e-mail saying to cancel my account or I will seek legal help in the matter. Surprise, surprise, I get an e-mail saying they were sorry to see me go but they will cancel it, but then I check my online bank statement and they charged me again for their service, well I think I'm going to have the bank investigate it after all and contact the consumer protection. You see, I never used their service because I could never get it to work or a person from their company to help me, so I'm not paying for services not rendered or used, especially since I asked to cancel and they ignored my request and charged me anyway, napster is a scam in my opinion, stay clear of their company at all costs.
The complaint has been investigated and resolved to the customer’s satisfaction.
What a useless pain!
Napster has the most difficult if not impossible automated voice system I have ever encountered. I've been trying to call because my free MP3 player's shipment keeps getting delayed, but I can't talk to a person to save my own life.
The automated voice, which is grating, reads directly from the web-site and refers me to [protected]@napster.com, which refers me BACK to the 1-800 number. And don't even try pressing zero to talk to an operator, he just starts his message over and eventually hangs up.
If you dare to navigate the menu, you are treated to a list of FAQs and other generic topics taken word-for-word from the web-site, and then hung up on when he is done talking. Fantastic.
What to do if I am calling because my problem exists outside of the "hear your payment history" option? Who writes his script? How out of touch are they?
It took me eight tries of random button-pushing to get through to someone, who promptly told me that, although I was under the "technical support" menu, he could help with anything from billing to shipping to Shop Napster. What, then, is the point of the automated voice system?
The fact that the automated voice menu features a "cancel your subscription" option alone proves that people are reconsidering Napster altogether.

Have had pending charges and cant get money back off card... ? How do i make sure my card is not being used by some1 or cancle payment if not on my account
Someone made a charge with my credit card for this company I've never heard of and I had to cancel my card. At the least it's really inconvenient but fortunately I don't have to pay for it.

Account #[protected]---- I don't for one moment believe you did not receive my Email dated
3/13/14 .For months you have been giving me the run around .WHY? We are both losing out
I am not able to purchase books and you are missing out on the money that I send on them.
As I have repeated time and again When you supposedly re-vamped your system you deleted
my account .It was your mistake and it is up to you to reinstate me as a member, unless there
is a reason you want me out of the club . If that is the case I am entitled to an explanation !
I have received books from them in the past and they make it very difficult to speak to any customer service. In fact the number on the panflet actually is to Columbia house DVD service center.[protected](book). They obviously do not want to be bothered with any calls.

Might I suggest getting with your CC company and see if they have a way to contact this company if you don't get anywhere. Let them know you paid for this book and have not received it. Good luck!
