86+ Days to get Commission Renewal (NNA lost application twice)
As of today, I still have not received my renewed notary commissions after I sent my application to [protected]@nationalnotary.org on 11/6/2023! This is now week 12 of having trusted the National Notary Association and paid the fees.
I have lost well over $2000 of income so far, and each day, I have to turn down clients I have served for years.
On November 6th, 2023, I sent my correctly completed application to [protected]@nationalnotary.org. Around 12/16/2023, I followed up with the NNA to check on the application status and received the following information from NNA staff:
At my first inquiry, I was told [protected]@nationalnotary.org was the wrong email to send my application to.
([protected]@nationalnotary.org is listed as the email to send my application to after the renewal purchase.)
At my second inquiry, I was told that I had a claim against me from 2021, and the NNA refused to send my application to the State of Texas for renewal.
This was incorrect and confirmed by Merchants (after I called them) and your insurance representative.
In 2021, I asked Merchants Insurance for advice in a situation, but no claim was ever filed.
How did this incorrect information get into my file and stop my application from being submitted?
Why was I never informed in 2021 or when I renewed my application last year?
3) Communication
Mr. Jordan, we have talked on the phone twice, and you promised to follow up with me each time, but I never heard back from you. The last time I called, you did not take my call.
There has been no other communication from the NNA regarding this situation or any attempts to solve it for me.
I am more than disappointed with the National Notary Association, which claims on its website to be the national leader for notary applications. I don't think there has been any effort to fix this situation. As of today, I do not know the status of my commission renewal. I am also disappointed that nobody has taken any responsibility.

I placed my order to renew my notary certification on January 25. Today is April 27 and I still do not have my order. I've been on hold for hours (several times) and I cannot speak to a live person. I sent an email and I received an email back that said COVID-19 is causing a delay. Horrible horrible customer service with call centers outside of the United States.

I have had nothing but a good experience since I have joined NNA. I've been with them now for about 8 years and don't plan on changing to anyone else at the moment. I really appreciate the service they provide for Notaries. Keep it up!

Submitted application on Monday October 19. Paid $30.00 to overnight it. I tracked the delivery and it was delivered on Tuesday, October 20th at 12:00 P.M. I called around 3:00 p.m. on that same day and was told that it takes 24-48 hours for the application to be submitted. I was also told it would take 4-6 weeks once the application was uploaded. They stated the reason for the 4-6 weeks is because Florida is behind on their process. I called the State of Florida Notary department to verify. They stated that that is incorrect. They also stated that NNA has a history of blaming them for the delay. They are processing everything within 3 business days. I called NNA again on Friday, October 23rd to check the status. They still don't have my application uploaded. They stated they are running behind. They also stated that in order to put in an inquiry of where my application was within their company, they needed my USPS tracking number and that they could not check the status without that. That tracking number was for my benefit and purpose, it has nothing to do with them. I waited 30 minutes on the phone for them to tell me that they could not help me. And then their reply to me was "sorry for your inconvenience." I informed them that this is a time sensitive matter but they didn't seem concerned about that. I am calling back to try and speak to a manager because they wouldn't let me when I had asked before. I either need my application process ASAP or I need my money back. I am currently on hold from the automated system. It has been 12 min already. But the history of my previous calls, its always a 30 min wait. I should have checked this site prior to giving them $150.00. It could have saved me time and money.

I have had a great experience with NNA until recently. I took the online class and passed *** exam, despite the glitches they had with the course plus there were a few questions that were not covered, which are probably the ones I got wrong.
My first online order went smoothly and I received everything I needed. Well, I am still waiting for my bond, but we will see if I receive that.
Yesterday, I talked to one of their customer service reps about taking the NSA Online course with them and what supplies he recommended on a tight budget. That went well.
I placed my order and received a confirmation (in hindsight I should have printed) and was told I should receive an email shortly with my order information. Well, it still hasn't happened as of the time I writing this almost 24 hours later. And I have a pending charge of $585.32 on my account from them.
I called yesterday after never receiving my email and I was treated with the most disrespect from that point on. Customer service rep told me I must have logged in under someone else's account and made the purchase, which is why I didn't receive the email. What? Why would I order a course and supplies under someone else's login and name, let alone before the order is placed I have to verify my commission address, mailing address, and billing address.
Then he told me to check if there was a pending charge. There was. Then he told me to make sure it was from them. Another what in the world? Found by it easily, the amount of the pending charge was the amount of my "non-existent" order I placed and had NNA and their 800 number next to it.
Then he proceeded to tell me it was a pending charge and would drop off eventually because it wasn't an order. Great, I have an almost $600 charge that technically is now fraud/illegal for an order that does not "exist".
So, I asked for a supervisor, who was not any better. He gave me an example of a restaurant pending charge and how they are similar. How? Restaurant actually/hopefully performed the service for the charge. NNA has a pending charge on my account for an order that according to their website and them that does not "exist".
So, now I have to wait 2-3 days for that pending charge to go thru, before they will even place my order over the phone. That's if they do, based on the prior Yelp reviews from other customers with the same issue.
It is totally disrespectful to treat a customer like they are stupid, which is what happened not only by the customer service rep, but also the supervisor.
I've been a traditional notary for over 10+ years. I just recently became an electronic and remote notary. I've been a NNA member since 2012. I've always been provided with excellent service when I've called, emailed or ordered supplies. I highly recommend NNA.

So far, an absolutely terrible company. I ordered my notary stamp 21 days ago and it still has not arrived. This company doesn't care about it's notary signing agents. Go to a different company to get your credentials. These people put you on hold for hours, refuse to take responsibility for mishandling orders, and ultimately do nothing to support their members besides the hotline support. If I could, I'd give them zero stars.

They misrepresent the "digital seal" product they sell as some complex, feature added product, when it is actually a 9.5kb plain PNG file that anyone could make with common free software or online services. When pressed on the matter, NNA falls back on predatory and abusive doublespeak that holds their customers in disdain and attempts to cast doubt on their ability to make what is nothing more than a graphical copy of an ink stamp. NNA clearly relies on spreading fear, uncertainty and doubt among new or uninformed notaries and relies on their heavy handed marketing and bullying to sell overpriced products to unsuspecting victims while attempting to present themselves an industry leader.

I have had the absolute worst customer service with both of my orders. I paid $26 to overnight my bond , it was lost ... they put wrong address on package . Awaiting my refund ... Next order was $50 JOURNAL ... it has been over 3 weeks and still no Notary Journal . I am losing business... The first shipment was lost , i've called 5 times and last was promised that it would go out VIA UPS free of charge . 3days later still not tracking number !.. it was supposed to be delivered tomorrow ... now another 3 to 5 days .. it is being shipped from a location that is literally 45 minutes from my office .Each representative is horrible rude and not helpful ... at the end of conversation all they wans to do is sell me another MEMBERSHIP ...UHHH NO THANKS!

I went to NNA to purchase a Notary Bond, in Pennsylvania you only have 45 days to secure, provide proof of purchase and be sworn in. On October 8th I paid and emailed the necessary information to NNA, received a standard auto reply back and then heard nothing. Long story short, I have now called on four separate occasions to inquire about the status of my bond. I was assured by NNA that it was sent by USPS mail on October 9th but as of today, November 3rd, I have not received any of my paperwork back. Mail speed has not been the greatest this year but it does not take almost a complete month for a couple of pieces of paper. NNA has agreed to give me a refund, that is a plus, but I would have much rather have had my paid bond and not left scrambling by NNA's inadequacy to meet the PA legal deadline.

Okay so I decided to become a notary in the state of Texas so I decided to do some research and the NNA came highly recommended
Okay so I decided to become a notary in the state of Texas so I decided to do some research and the NNA came highly recommended. So I purchased the complete notary package which came out to about $301 after taxes. In this package my notary application, filing fee, bond, and E&O insurance were included amongst other things. I completed my application and sent it back to them via email on October 5th. I Received an Email on October 13 saying that my application had been submitted electronically to the state and that I would receive my commission within 10 business days. I decided to track the status after 3 business days using the SOS website only to find out that they hadn't received my application at all yet. I then call the NNA and inform them of what I found out and I was not only given the run around but I was told 3 different stories as to what happened to my application. First I was told that it was submitted electronically, then I was told it was mailed, lastly I was told it was sent to the governors office for review. I relayed that information to the rep from the SOS office and she replied that a notary application would NEVER be sent to the governors office as he has nothing to do with the notary process. I called multiple days in a row attempting to get things sorted out. Finally a SOS rep told me to ask for the packet number that my application was submitted in so we could attempt to find it in the system...the NNA refused to provide that info. The SOS rep told me to ask for a copy of the application they submitted with the bonding information that I purchased included so that I could resubmit my application by fax...The NNA refused. Remind you this is business day 8 of the 10 business day waiting period that the NNA gave and the state still didn't and doesn't have my application nor can the NNA provide an accurate answer as to where my application is. I was told that I would have to purchase a bond elsewhere and pay a application fee if I wanted to fax my application to the SOS because they don't provide that info to customers. I ended up asking for a refund for my application fee, The bond, and the E&O insurance I purchased with them. Seems like they are dragging their feet on the refund but the rep told me that my application would be revoked since I'm asking for a refund. She also stated that once I do finally get my commission certificate I would need to upload a copy to them and they would send my stamp. This situation is unfortunate because the NNA comes highly recommended in the NSA world. Some things that I purchased with the NNA couldn't be refunded such as the notary essentials & the background check (which I passed) or some of the other materials I had purchased. Not only have I lost time with this entire situation but I ended up having to find a separate company to purchase a bond, application, & E&O insurance with all while still waiting on the refund that they say will take 7- 10 business days.

The NNA did not provide the product that was requested and purchased
The NNA did not provide the product that was requested and purchased. They have not provided a refund despite numerous calls and emails. I purchased a notary renewal package from the NNA. After months had passed, and I had not had not heard from them, I called to inquire about the status of the order. I was informed that they were not able to complete the order, unless I took extra steps on our part with the Secretary of State. I decided to contact a local provider. I requested a refund from NNA. After numerous phone calls and emails, the service agent(s) came to the conclusion that we had already received our refund and there was nothing more that could be done. My wife was told that a manager would call her back, but one never did. I paid *** for the package on February 15, Order No. XXXXXXX.

The NNA failed to start processing my application for six weeks and has not even turned it in to my state for background investigation
The NNA failed to start processing my application for six weeks and has not even turned it in to my state for background investigation processing. Today is May 12th. Paid $78 and filled out application for commission April 1st and submitted April 6th. Entire process should have been sent to state of Florida for processing and returned within 10-14 business days. May 12th,(a full SIX WEEKS) I am following up as to why I have not received a response, when I am informed that the application has not been submitted to the state for processing yet! When probed as to what it has been doing for SIX weeks, there is no response. This means that it has been on someone's desk for six weeks, even though I have been following up and speaking to representatives at least 2-3/week for the last month, and it still has to pass Florida's background investigation timeframe. I have even paid an additional $249 for the NSA certification and Notary Essentials class (and passed them both with a 91%) that cannot be used until it comes back from Florida.
