I had a mortgage with Flagstar Bank that was just recently sold to Nationstar Mortgage LLC. While attempting to pay it online, I discovered that Nationstar charges for me paying on my loan in any other way than US snail mail or automated payment! Web pay is $6.95 and phone pay is $9.95! Ridiculous, do not use Nationstar as they are completely ripping their customers off, IMO.

Here is the FAQ straight from their site:

We offer many convenient ways for you to make your payment. Simply choose the one that works best for you.

Western Union® Web Payment
Want to make your payment right now? Just use Western Union® Web Payment.

A fee of $6.95 will be assessed when making a payment via Western Union® Web Payment.

Simply call [protected]. Please have your account number and last four digits of your social security number ready and follow the instructions. Your payment will be processed using services provided by Western Union®.

A fee of $9.95 will be assessed when making a payment via Western Union® Pay by Phone.

Ok, i just discovered that my national bank will guarantee an electronic payment to them in 3 days. This must mean that Nationstar is setup to accecpt electronic payments as every national company should be IMO. Why will they not choose to design their site to accept online free payments on their site that would post to my account on the same day? No one should pay their rip off payment fees!

GWA, I own 4 properties, of which 3 are rentals. My other mortgage companies accept free online payments and do not attempt to hide fees...nothing pathetic about me but you are hiding behind your computer.

Wow you are pathetic!
Not too long ago all your bills were paid using just a stamp and a check. How hard is it to just PLAN AHEAD and send your payment in before the due date each month?

Nationstar isn't a bank so of course fees would apply... this isn't a "rip off" it's just an option that you can easily work around. Why waste your time complaining to the world and shouting to the heavens about your mortgage company when all you have to do is find a pen, sign a check, and spend 44 cents for a stamp (that's what I've been doing for years without a single problem)... some people have become way to lazy and that's just sad.

GWA, I think you are rude!. Tyron (like everybody else) has every right to say what he wanted to say. I gree with Tyron, paying online is a convenience for most people .. it is not lazy. It is being smart in spending your time!

Tyron, thank yo for sharing your info, like yourself .. our loan has just been sold by Flagstar to Nationstar and to be honest with you, we are in a bad situation where I lost my job and reading all the postings here, I am very very discourage. I wish we had a choice.

I understand where you're coming from, I certainly wouldn't pay to pay them... But, GWA has a point -- stick your payment in the mail. Most loans have a grace period, even if you stick your loan in the mail on the very day it's due, it should get to them before your grace period is up.

Note: Grace periods vary state to state -- 8, 10, 15 days.. It all depends.

Mailing payments is not such a good thing. You can never tell when they will post them. Auto pay is best because it is SUPPOSED to be done on the exact day you specify. Also, it is cheaper for the mortgage co to handle ACH payments than to process the checks.

Mortgage companies are in the business of SERVICING loans. So they should be able to provide SERVICE in the form of automatic deductions from checking accounts. This isn't a new service, it has been around for 20 years on routine repeat transactions like this. So why hasn't Nationstar figured out how to do automatic payments, like most other companies? Because they are making $ profiting on these "convenience fees."

By the way, they did the same thing to me. They sent letters saying the Flagstar auto pays would transition, but they didn't bother to set them up. Then despite numerous calls, emails, faxes, they charged the "convenience fee" since they haven't figured out how to set up autopay in less than 3 months! Bad customer relations.

I too had my mortgage with Flagstar when they sold it to Nationstar in 10/2009. It isn't lazyness that causes me to want to pay on-line, but it is the idea of having a trail to prove payment. By putting a check in the mail, anything can happen to it and then I wouldn't be able to track it without paying extra. Also, I am having a problem getting my statement from Nationstar in a timely manner. I get my statement about two days (if I am lucky) before the payment is due. I also don't make it a habit to pay using a grace period, so that is not an option for me. If my payment is due on the first, then it should be paid by the first. It also appears that they are shorting my escrow account. I can't ever get through to the person I am speaking to when I call, which is at least once a month. Apparently there is never a manager available. I really feel like I am caught between a rock and a hard place. With the economy the way it is, and my house so underwater, I can't remortgage with a more respectable company.

Nationstar is screwing 10's of thousands of people each and every month. For some reason they are getting away with it and no one is doing anything about it. I did not pick them. My loan was sold to them by GMAC this last year. I never was a day late on any payments. They were all sent in two weeks in advance yet Nationstar will not post it for two weeks until after the due date. At the same time they sit on the statement they are sending out. It will be dated on the 16th of the month but they do not send it out until the end of the month. I have to Prioritize all my mail costing an extra $5.65 each month to get a proof of date mailed. Even then, Nationstar sits on it and will not post it on my next statement. They made it look like I am not paying my mortgage yet every payment has been made way in advance. These people that are coming on here saying we are [censored]ts for not paying just don't get it. We are making our payments but our payments are not being posted. I have saved all my checks, money orders and postal receipts but to no avail. I have voiced my concerns to the OK Attorn. Gen. Nationstar finally sent me my modification plan but at the same time sent a letter to the Gen. that they have removed me from the program.

I too have many issues with Nationstar. I agree with all of your complaints. I prefer to have proof of my payments by paying by phone or online to have a confirmation number and proof of payment. If I am a week late I am already getting phone calls and certified letters in the mail in regard to paying my account. I am extremely dissatisfied in this loan company and want to get out from under them ASAP! I was with Flagstar and was sold to them and have been unhappy with them from the beginning. I called them from a new number and told them I did not want them to have my new number because they harass me through the old number and via mail. Well caller ID must have been used because they have been calling me nonstop about a payment in which I have already made. Every time I talk to a customer service rep they say they see where payment is made and I think it is taken care of and then BAM they are calling me again. I am so tired of this company! It truly is the worst I have had to deal with.

Be careful with nationstar they are traitors and they don't care about cuatomers like flagstar. They care only for make bussiness.

I have a sink hole and after two years of negotiation, Citizens Insurance paid me $68000, The check was made out to me and Nationstar. Nationstar said trust us...endorse the check send it to us and we will pay the engineer to fix your house. Instead they confiscated the entire $68000. The house is sinking and I have submitted complaints to every govt agency who I can. They are crooks. .. no question about it. You steal a 6 pack of Bud from 711 you go to jail in hand cuffs. NationStar steals all my money on an insurance police I PAID FOR, FOR TEN YEARS.
