these Morning i received an SMS saying that i have won R95, 000 for nokia yearly promotion and it has the ticket number to claim the prize and they told me to buy airtime voucher of R1080.00 to register to get the prize and they took my account number to deposit the money as soon as i gave them the voucher numbers, i told them to deduct the money from the prizre that i have won but they refused because they need me to buy the voucher first. is this true or a scam, i called this number [protected] and the person who answered the phone said he is the Nokia manager and when i tell him that i have got no money he said to me the management need the voucher first before they release the money.
I did also recieve this sms stating that my mobile no won R95, 000 In NOKIA YEARLY PROMO. With ticket nr 0166p. And ya, i at first did not want to get excited but, felt the urge to call the nr for claims, which is [protected] and the nr that the sms was sent from is082 298 1652. Please people be careful. I was also told to send all of my details with the R180 mtn voucher's pin to the claims nr. But luckely my husband also called this nr and explained to me that the guy, who is Mark, sounded Nigerian and that he thinks this is not right. I then checked this website and the saps website and found this being a scam. Thank God i didn't go out to buy this mtn voucher for airtime. As someone has said earlier, these motherf$%&*! I wish these scammers will all burn in hell!
i received the sms last night and when i called this morning, everything did not not sound right about that call, In the background you can hear its very unprofessional and they dont seem to know what they are doing. The Phillip guy whom i spoke to told me that i have to call after 5minutes... i then decided to google it up, and this really helped...

Hello, i received an sms saying:
Congratulations! Your number has won 290, 000, 00 pounds in the ongoing UK NOKIA PROMO: Email us at nokiaworld.uk@live.com & call +[protected] for claims info.
Can you please email me more information at sar-den@hotmail.com
Im a student and i got the same sms at 2am in the morning! Please offer help to these sick guys. Thanks to everybody that made me aware of the scam...14/04/10
PLEASE be aware. The scam is very much alive. I received the sms last night (13th April 10) called the number, realised the guy was dodge and so googled the nokia website. There are numours people who have been caught out and even fraud cases upwards of R20000 filed. The police have a warning on the SAPS online journal regarding the scam.
I got the very same sms yesterday but the funny thing about it is that they didn't request me to buy anything but gave me 2 options of how to claim for my prize, by transfer or by chq and obiviuosly I chose tranfer and gave themmy banking details.so does this mean I should go and close my account.the lady that called sounded very zulu like going by the name of Phindile Ndlovu and her number is [protected] and my ticket number was 0166P, PRIZE FOR 95000.00
HOW TRUE CAN THAT BE!SOMEBODY DO SOMETHING
Yo guys whts up wth thes sms's we getting saying that we hv won while we hvnt? cnt thes people be arrested or something?well i think all the south africans need to be warned n i am gonna do sumthng about it...these guys we normally call for claims hv nigerian accent..whts up wt em?
I received the same massage today that says I won R75000 in Nokia promotion, I called the numbers thay gave me.Then they told me to send my acc details and to buy an airtime of R540 for MTN so that they can process my money into my bank. as we reg all the sim card, WHAT DIFFECULT TO FIND THESE PEAPLE, NOKIA AND MTN THEY MUST DO SOMETHING.
In the background you can hear its very unprofessional and they dont seem to know what they are doing- The point im making is that Nokia as well as MTN should seriously look into this and take action quickly. I know when a mobile number is dailed and ansered you can trace its exact location. Please make a plan because this gives MTN and Nokia a really bad name.
This is seriously ridicolous, I also got the same sms an hour ago and I thought, no no no this cannot be. I decided to check this on the web and I came across all your emails, but then again I knew this couldn't be right. Voda needs to do something about this. We are in 2010 now and we don't need this, as some people will fall for this and will die of heart attacks.
I have received SMS and two missed calls to informed me that i have won a prize of 300, 000 pounds from an on going UK Nokia promotion and that i should email with my name and country of origin. Can you confirm if this is real or a scam?
I received the same message this morning, about 02:45am. That I won R250, 000.00 and I must buy a R180 airtime voucher and sms him the pin of the voucher and my name and banking details. When I asked how I've won the prise ( because I never entered any competion), he said my number was selected from a list, so I'm lucky. He asked if I'm working, thats what made me suspicious. When I told him I don't want to claim my prize, he hung up on me. Lee- Mthatha
i also received an sms yesterday afternoon, 02/07/10 telling me about my prize of R95000 and a brand new E65 Nokia, they told me to buy an airtime of R180-00 and sms the voucher no to them to activiate my Yx2 pin no, i did and this morning i got an sms again telling me that my money has been set directly to the insurance company and i need to pay a sum of R 2386 to the insurance to release my two above prizes, thanks God that i che checked this outlet before paying this morning, its i SCAM and Nokia Holdings have to do something about it. my email address is mamokete7@yahoo.com should you apprehend these people and want me as a witness
Not all Nigerians are bad! My Nigerian was quite accommodating. I had 3 conversations all topping 30 minutes where I had him going about me not being able to make it to Shoprite during the week to make the absolutely-untraceable deposit and we arranged for my winnings to be claimable during the weekend (he even extended his work hours till Sat 14:00).
I was a bit disappointed that he didn't send me a fax of his address for me to come pay the 'processing fee' upfront for fear of illegitimacy of competition as we had agreed on our second conversation (very unbusiness-like).
I take my hat off to the fact that he managed to outsmart me about which province I'm from, which conveniently placed his head offices in 'CAPE TOWN', (never mind the fact that NOKIA IS BASED IN JHB).
And to re-emphasise the most pertinent observation: WHY DO I NEED TO CALL AGAIN IN 5 MINUTES?- Isn't Nokia's customer center prepared for the barrage of queries, that they need to outsource to a single Nigerian to handle them all single-handedly?
THIS REEKS OF NEPOTISM, WHEN THERE ARE SO MANY SA FOLKS UNEMPLOYED, why a Nigerian NOKIA? ;)
Muhaha... ...gullible South Africans!
I think I have split persona of a gullible South African and a Nigerian conman. (RICA who, me? you must be joking! Starter packs can still be purchased without RICA'ing. Try me South African, I dare you.)
My mother also got the same sms and email Congratulations, we the staffs of NOKIA congratulate you as one of our lucky winners. Hi, I have recieved a message from +[protected]
that i won 1000, 000, 00 GBP in the nokia promo is this real and if yes how could i get my prize
I would like to lodge a complaint concerning this SA NOKIA YEARLY PROMOTIONS. i received an sms on the 05/01/2011 at about 04:30am stating that i have won R 95 000.00 and i need to call the agent to activate my ticket. i called them that morning only for them to tell me that i have to now buy R 180 airtime voucher and then call them back to give them the serial nr of the voucher so that they can activate my ticket, which i did do when i phoned them they said that the accountants will be contacting me the following morning which she did but also from a cell nr. then i was told that an agent will be asigned to my number to contact me with regards to the prize money. then i received the sms with the agents details on he then contacted me to let me know that i have to pay R 1800 into his bank account for the insurance purpaces, when i insisted on having some proof that this is real or even the courier company's details landline and so forth they only supplied me with a cell nr. then they send me a typed letter stating that i am a winner for this amount no letterhead only cell phones and it was faxed from bennice net cafe not even their offices. i am very sceptic about the whole situation. i just cannot believe that people will go so far as to steal from poor people like us because they are to lazy to do a honest job to survive no they will rather steal from hardworking honest people. please can someone do something about these crooks.
My sms reads: "Congratulations! Your MOBILE NUMBER won R95, 000.00 on Nokia Promotion. Ticket No 0166P. Call Mrs Nomsa [protected]. Call 9am to 5 pm" Unfortunately gave them my acc as transfers took 48hrs (quicker than the 5 working days time for a cheque.) Just a scam guys. You did not enter any competitions... you will not have won. Don't give these idiots any of your info. They metion they're in 88 Voortekker road bellville. Non-existent.
I also received the same text message last night! What a scam, to claim your prize, buy a recharge voucher worth R110! What nonsense! Nokia SA, needs to put a stop to this! The sms was received from the following number, [protected], and it stated, contact agent faith, on [protected]. Nokia SA, please get your legal team on this case! Thank you.
