If i could give zero stars i would.
We received a £150 Activity Superstore voucher as a gift and we decided to pay an extra £69 to obtain a theatre visit and over night stay. Therefore worth £219 in total.
Upon exchanging this and trying to book with OMG Hotels we encountered a problem where the dates we wanted were not available and we were given the option to upgrade to a 4 star hotel and pay more. The hotels that were offered were all quite far from central London and it would have been cheaper for me to book myself.
After lots of going back and forth as we wanted to exchange to voucher for something else we were advised that this was not possible as we had entered a contract with OMG hotels. So we spoke to OMG and asked if we could still have the theatre but instead of the hotel would they be able to offer us anything else. They came back with a theatre and afternoon tea which we accepted. We gave them the dates we wanted and they said they would book it and vouchers would be received 48 hours prior to the date. So was booked 4 weeks in advance. We decided to book our own hotel as we got a better deal and one that was more central. Also upon reading reviews there seemed a common theme where people had problems so we didn’t want to be stranded.
Our experience was booked for Friday 5th July (theatre) and Saturday 6th July (afternoon tea). I contacted OMG 48 hours before to ask about the vouchers for the weekend and was advised that the supplier sends tickets 24 hours prior so we would expect them on the Thursday evening. Thursday evening I receive an email from them to advise that our afternoon tea venue was closed for the dates we wanted and we could other go elsewhere or postpone our visit but it would not effect our theatre booking.
As we had booked a hotel postponing wasn’t an option so we decided on another venue.
Friday morning comes (the day of the theatre) and we still hadn’t received tickets so I tried to chat to an agent but no one available so sent a couple of emails. I finally get an email back to say my tickets would be with me by 1pm which is still time and they had an email outage so were behind on sending out. I didn’t believe this as if everything had been booked I should have received my tickets in advance. Why the delay? Because they leave it until the last minute to get the cheapest tickets available and steal your money. When I’ve booked theatre tickets I receive them instantly and well in advance not 24 hours before.
I also contacted our original afternoon tea venue as didn’t believe OMG venue and they confirmed they were not closed but bookings had to be made 72 hours in advance which this obviously had not been done. So OMG lied about that.
Our theatre tickets were worth £22.50 each and afternoon tea £80 so £125 in total despite the value of our voucher being £219. As we decided not to go for the hotel option I stupidly thought we may have got better theatre seats to make up the value but that wasn’t the case.
This was supposed to be a treat for our wedding anniversary which has caused a lot of stress and upset with me in tears. It would have been cheaper to book ourselves. My father in law who got us the original vouchers was also very upset and felt guilty that we have paid extra for an experience that was not worth the value leaving us out of pocket.
I am extremely disappointed with the whole thing from start to finish and feel I should at least receive a refund for the extra £69 we paid as the experience was not worth it.
Upon reading reviews there seem to be a lot of issues with OMG and I look at escalating this further. As a customer I have not received the value and under the Consumer Rights Act the problem I have had with poor service and it not matching the description when sold.
This has also now stopped me from buying any future goods from Activity Superstore and definitely OMG along with any family members and friends as once you pass it over you don’t want to know as you have the money.
I contacted OMG and Activity Superstore regarding this and surprise they have not replied to me. However the reply they gave to Activity Superstore was this ‘I can see the customer was booked and already had their theatre tickets and attraction. This booking was confirmed on a non-amendable non-refundable basis and all services have already taken place. We will therefore not be issuing a credit note for this booking."
No compassion and rude. PLEASE DO NOT USE THESE COWBOYS AND SAVE YOURSELF HASSLE AND STRESS!
No tickets
No vouchers
No contact
They said they had booked the wrong dates less than 24 hours before we were due to go.
The phone numbers do not work and they are not responding to on-line chat or emails.
If they have not gone out of business they soon will! Do not book anything with them! They take your money and then do nothing!
