Our gas boiler was failing to ignite consistently; and when it did, it BOOMED with a terrific noise. *** cleaned out the condensing boiler to have it perform reliably and reduced the ignition noise. We noticed very soon after that even formerly cold rooms were noticeably warmer, an indication that our system was working more efficiently, too. *** actually recognized the boiler from a number of years of servicing it before and could look up its record of service from Papalia to give him a good idea of what needed to be done and what did not. This history allowed him to do more efficient troubleshooting and avoid a general overhaul.

These people came out to my condo upon request to give an estimate for work I needed done. I was charged 79.00 dollars for the same. The estimate included an "emergency water shut down and replacement of three defective valves in addition to a faucet replacement required". The total cost estimate was assessed at 752.00 dollars less their estimate. I had another ComplaintsBoard.com rated Contractor come out and replace the faucet and a defective hot water valve for 212.00 dollars total. The contractor was Ayotte Plumbing, Heating, Air Conditioning, radon of Chelmsford Ma. I'm not sure why Papalia"s Estimate included the excess work but reporting the cost difference is necessary given their A+ rating from the ComplaintsBoard.com.

Very pleased with the services provided. Service tech *** was very professional and courteous. He inspected our heating system, which required a larger expansion tank and other work, which he explained to me very clearly. Papalia ordered the parts needed and *** returned to install and do service maintenance on a day I was available to be home. All went very well.
is polite, professional and knowledgeable. This is my first winter since converting from oil to heat pumps.At first trial the system did not work as it was set up to have the *** coil kick in. However, there was no backup heating system installed. *** was able to explain why I was having issues and was able to set up the thermostat to work without a backup system. Although it was disappointing that the *** coil was not installed as offered by the salesperson, *** was able to diagnose the issue and reprogrammed the thermostat so we could have heat.

They provided excellent, expert, knowledgeable, timely, and friendly service for our home boiler and hot water tank. In each case, over a year apart, Papalia sent a technician who was very knowledgeable and did a thorough job diagnosing the problem. The technician also had notes in Papalia's system regarding the service provided over a year ago, which made for efficient analysis of the problem. In each visit, he carefully and clearly explained what was needed and provided repairs that were intended to minimize cost. I was very impressed with the services and would not hesitate to call on them again.

Wasn't an easy or "***, but *** did a great clearing a clogged septic drain pipe that was backing up everything at our house. His blend of professionalism with a good sense of humor was much appreciated & perfect for the task at hand.
Peta arrived around 11:20 to perform maintenance on our Lochinvar WHB085N heating system. I had a brief conversation with him in which I expressed some concerns about the way the system was behaving last winter, especially when the outside temperatures were in the teens, and he offered a reason why it might have been behaving that way, I then left him to work on the maintenance items..He completed the maintenance in a little over an hour and before leaving he spent a few minutes going over the work he had done. We are pleased with the way he approached his work and gave us explanations.

I have been using a local service company for my HVAC and plumbing needs for about 5 years. One of my HVAC devices developed a malfunction. It was a non-urgent issue, but I was able to get an appointment first thing the following morning. The technician arrived on time and quickly diagnosed the problem. He did not have the replacement part immediately on hand, but was able to contact a colleague, who dropped off the part within 30 minutes or so. The repair was completed within a short timeframe. The technician was prompt, knowledgeable, courteous and professional, and I was completely satisfied with the service visit. I highly recommend this company for any home HVAC or plumbing issues.

They were prompt. friendly, and efficient. They cleaned up and we couldn't even tell they had been there. We have been so pleased with all the services at Papalia, from the very beginning, the estimate, their patience with me changing my mind on things and needing a new estimate, to the final work that was done. We have already talked about having them back in a few months for some additional work over the summer. Great, great team. We would definitely refer them to anyone. For a few years we've been using Papalia for annual maintenance on one central HVAC, one split unit, and one tankless hot water. As part of our service contract *** did our free annual whole house plumbing inspection, educated me on some maintenance things I could do myself while identifying projects that ranged from "I could try to do myself" to "it's not always as simple as you might think". So we divided the tasks and *** just finished installing my first single hole kitchen faucet (***) which is working beautifully. She had to saw out the old three hole faucet while not damaging the sink in the process and somehow pulled it off! I would definitely call Papalia again. So far, every member of their crew has been great... whatever the task.

I don't usually fill out reviews as I am very busy like everyone else, but considering the outstanding service of both *** and the support team at the office at Papalia, keeping me in the loop every step of the way of his arrival time and then resolving the problem with my air conditioning, I think I owe it to them to take a minute to give credit where it is due. *** was professional and courteous despite the 95+ degree heat. I should mention that a month ago Papalia squeezed me in even though I was a new customer, when my regular service provider was unable to. That led to an ordering of a part and the resolution of the problem immediately upon the part's arrival. I have to say, with no offense to my other provider, but Papalia is my number one "go to" guys from here on.Thanks MF

Excellent work and professionalism, but 3x more expensive that it should have been (no joke). That said, all aspects of the engagement and work were top notch - the scheduling was perfect, the follow-*** were timely, everything was on time, the plumber was excellent, the iPad technology, service price books, payment processing, etc, all were A+.Bear in mind Papalia is a fixed-price plumber (vs. time and materials) so that ensures they have contingency should a roadblock come up. The service rates are clearly too expensive but more disturbing is the markup on the parts prices are 2.0-2.5x higher than homeowner/consumer prices at plumbing supply shops or even *** prices. Be prepared to spend a fraudulent amount on using Papalia, but be prepared to love their work. It's just money, right?

We hired a professional HVAC company to install a ductless mini-split system in our house, with 3 outside units and 5 inside units. Big project. Having been homeowners for over 30 years, I can say that this was the best contractor experience we have had. The company did a great job designing the system. Their lead technician did an awesome job leading the installation team, addressed all of our concerns, and spent extra time personally fixing a few small issues that came up after installation was complete. Their electrician did a great job adding a needed electrical panel and re-wiring as needed. The team started and finished on time, took care to minimize the impact on our home, cleaned up, and were always polite and a pleasure to have work on our house. The office support was also very responsive. We would hire them again in a heartbeat. Highly recommended.

Since purchasing our home 3 years ago, we've had several repairs and installations of new water heater/boiler system and A/C units. They've always been prompt to respond and their technicians have always been very professional, nice and knowledgeable. They explain well, give you options but they're never pushy. This time was no exception. I called because I had a concern about the dehumidifier unit in our basement, so they sent out their technician. He arrived exactly when I was told he would. He checked the unit, gave several possible reasons for which it was not working as expected, offered different options to try out and adjusted some settings. Now we need to see how it performs over a week or two and follow up with them before the next maintenance check, if necessary. It's reassuring to trust a company's work and integrity.

We were very pleased with the job Papalia performed in replacing our central air conditioning system. They proposed paired Trane condenser and air handler high efficiency units, with a cost that was reasonable, especially compared to quotes we received from other HVAC installers. All team members, from *** and *** in HVAC sales and administration, to *** and the installation crew, were professional, respectful, and responsive in delivering a quality solution. They stuck to the installation date and price, even as they dealt with challenges in connecting the new system to the original plumbing and electrical system in our home. It's great that they have electricians, plumbers, and HVAC installers who came as needed to complete the job in two days. Shortly after the install, Papalia completed all the paperwork for our 10-year warranty with Trane, and provided the documents we needed to apply for the electric company energy star rebate and the federal tax credit. Our air conditioning is now so much better than our original system. Thank you, Papalia.

Last month, we upgraded our 22 year old AC systems for *** Heat Pumps, including new air handlers, plus a steam humidifier. The removal of the old equipment, installation of the new equipment, and integration with our oil heating system, was a 3 day job. We found the entire process and crew (of varying numbers at different times but total of about 10), led by ***, to be excellent. There was a slight hiccup on the the first day after completion, the first floor system, stopped working (in the late afternoon). We called service and they had a serviceman here Saturday morning. He checked the outside unit but was unable to completely diagnose the problem because *** does not have *** available on the weekend, which I find to be ridiculous. *** are you listening? He came back Monday morning and after consultation with *** was able to repair the problem. Since then, the system has worked flawlessly and the house is much more comfortable when in the cooling mode than previously. Overall, Papalia provided the best price and an excellent experience. We highly recommend them.

Techinicians were respectful & polite, however, I had an issue with the repsonses I was given with regards to my issue. Papalia installed a new furnace for me in 2019. I recently wanted to remove the condensate pump to clean and found that the installation of PVC piping into the pump reservoir did not allow for the removal of the pump to perform routine cleaning maintanence or neutralizer media replacement. I was told by the technician that the pump could not be removed and did not require cleaning. This is in direct conflict with the manufacturer's written requirements which states the pump should be cleaned and neutralizer media replaced yearly. When asked about replacing the neutralizer media, the answer I was given was to *** it out with a shop vac. That is not an accpetable answer in my opnion. Condensate pumps should be installed to allow removal for routine *** or replacement. Now that I do not have the option to clean the pump as required, I am sure the warranty will be voided if the pump should fail within the warranty period. To avoid this, unfortunately I will now need to pay another HVAC contractor to correct the improperly installed PVC and pump.

My brand-name tankless water heater broke
My brand-name tankless water heater broke. When the two technicians from the home service company came, I expressed a desire to replace my old heater with a similar model to avoid changes in plumbing and ventilation. I was presented with two options: 1. Utilize the manufacturer warranty to replace the heat exchange element for $2500, though I didn't understand the high cost given the warranty coverage; 2. Install a new heater for $4350. I inquired about compatibility with my old model and was assured it was, but later found out they intended to install a different brand, necessitating alterations to plumbing and ventilation. The estimate revealed they were quoting a Navien, not the brand I requested. They tried to switch brands without my consent! Moreover, for both brands, the heater costs around $1300, meaning they were charging over $3000 for labor. After getting multiple quotes, I found the typical installation cost ranged from $2000 to $2800. Lastly, I regret spending $150 just for a consultation and quote. I caution others not to make my mistake.

We had the chance to employ a service company on two occasions recently. One was the repair of our faucet, and the other was for a repair of our furnace. While the staff was friendly, the experiences overall have been disappointing. One of the maintenance people came to our house to look at our furnace. He diagnosed that the wheel needed to be replaced. Given the old furnace, he ordered parts and turned it off, advising not to use it until repaired. He promised quick shipping for the parts due to a snowstorm and low temperatures. After 7 days, we still had no heat, with first-floor temperatures at 45F. The company didn't communicate, and I had to reach out for updates. It's odd that a common part wasn't in stock, despite their claim of a fully stocked truck. The poor communication felt like a disregard for our situation. In another instance, they didn't have a faucet we needed and asked us to purchase it. Post-installation, the installer clogged our toilet with paper towels, causing a minor flood. This should not have happened.

Even though I dont normally write reviews for companies (this is only my second review ever, for anyone), I am happy to write a review of my recent experience with Papalia Home Services. In short, it was an excellent experience every step of the way, and I highly recommend them to you.I hired Papalia Home Services to replace my gas furnace and my central air-conditioning system. Every step in the process was handled perfectly by Papalia. Every person at Papalia with whom I interacted is, in my opinion, simply an excellent person friendly, intelligent, respectful and highly skilled. My initial contact with Papalia went perfectly. The subsequent visit from the project manager to assess my HVAC situation went perfectly. Scheduling the job went perfectly, and Papalia stuck to the schedule without any deviations from it. The removal of the old equipment went perfectly. The installation of the new equipment went perfectly. All workmanship was neat, clean and skillfully done. They did a great job explaining to me how the new equipment operated and how to keep it operating in tip-top shape. They thoroughly cleaned up the job site and were very respectful of my property throughout the entire process. It has been two weeks since the installation, and the air-conditioning has been operating flawlessly (its August, so I havent used the furnace yet, but the furnace performed perfectly during testing). The equipment they recommended for me (Trane) seems to have been a perfect choice. And their price was the lowest of the three bids I received.I couldnt be happier with the people of Papalia Home Services and the high quality of the work they performed for me. In my opinion, they are an excellent company providing quality workmanship performed by wonderful people. I have every reason to believe that they will take care of you as well as they took care of me, and it is my pleasure to recommend them to you. I couldnt be happier!

Papalia Home Services came to my house on Tuesday March 8 to fix my heating. The plumber arrived around ***pm and showed me the "Pilot *** Igniter" from my furnace that needed replacing. He said it would cost $69 for coming to the house and $67.49 to replace the part. I agreed and he finished around 158pm. He asked for payment before leaving and I gave him my credit card. Later that evening, I received an email with the invoice #*** showing I was charged $69.00 plus $670.49. I thought it was a mistake and emailed Papalia. The sales manager said it was correct and when I called to dispute it, she refused to give me an itemization of the charge. The President of the company sent me an email saying miscommunications happen. Companies should provide written prices and have customers sign to avoid miscommunication.
