I can't believe to see so many others having the same issues with Pergo like I have, and I always thought I was the only one to think something was wrong with my floor. I purchased my Pergo floor in Dec. 2009 and it looked great, I was very happy with the looks of it, but very shortly after the floor started to deteriorate. The Floor started a crackling noise, blanks where separating-leaving visual gabs in between some boards. Since I had my Floor installed with Lowe's, I contacted Lowe's and they did good on it..and laid a new floor. Same Product, same style. Not very long after, I started to have new problems again. At that time I was at my Witt's end and kept passive about it. Bur what broke the camels back, after having an expensive dishwasher installed, purchased at Lowe's, the installation was faulty and some condensation evaporated from the seal which cause my Pergo floor to buckle. I know it could not have been much moisture, and also know moisture is lethal to Pergo flooring. But just to think the smallest amount of moisture could ruin an entire floor, doesn't seem to be a good product. In another home of mine, since than sold, I had just as well a problem with pergo, there I had the pale beech pergo installed, and it faded shortly after. Pergo did good on that and replaced the entire installation. I hope, I can get this Floor Problem in my new home resolved with Pergo/Lowe's just as well. I paid well over $ 4000 this time and I got no money to waste.

We are having a problem resolving problems with our Pergo that was install and getting the biggest run around. The store where purchased, the installer, the floor inspector (big joke) and then they sent another floor inspector on the same level as the first inspector and thought that we would not find out about the connection. We are going through the process but feel that we will only get satisfaction by legal means. Pergo needs a better way of resolving their problems and stop think that the consumer is stupid. All we ask is that our flooring be fixed to our satisfaction. We paid to much money for this product to be treated with disrespect. I will not be making any recommendations to family and friends if this is the way customers are treated. We have been in this process for months.

We bought Pergo floors about a week ago. My husband did everything right according to instillation. When he was done it looked beautiful 2 HOURS later after we started living on the floors. They looked like Hell scratches every where! My kids can't even play with there toy cars on it or else it will scratch. When shopping for floors the Lowe's floor guy suggested Pergo because "it is hard to scratch" TOTAL LIE ! It scratches like crazy & the only reason we didn't buy hard wood was because it scratches ! At least we could have refinished it ! I WILL NEVER BUY ANY TYPE OF LAMINATE FLOORS AGAIN !

My husband is a contractor, having installed many hardwood floors. Prior to purchasing a Pergo floor for our kitchen and dining room, he had installed a Wilsonart floor for one of his customers. The customer is very satisfied, no issues. He installed our laminate floor Sept. 09. It looked great and we were very pleased. We had planned to install it right into our living room. WELLLL...when May 2010 came around with the humidity the floor started to have a cracking sound similar to crunching a styrofoam cup. We contacted Pergo and they sent a [censored] to check our complaint. Lo and behold the claim was denied. Pergo sent a paper with lots of nonsense that enraged my husband. Since he has been in business for over 30 years.
One lie on the report was that the floor started cracking a week after installation. They also stated that the underlayment was uneven.. We are wondering if anyone else has had this type of problem...

I had Pergo laminate installed by Lowes. Had problems from day 1. The transition mouldings and corner mouldings around my kitchen cabinets had to be replaces several times. Now the color is coming off the flooring and I have gaps at every board! This was "professionally" installed by a subcontractor from Lowes. Now I have filed a claim with Pergo. Their rep came out but I have still not heard anything. I keep contacting Lowes.com and the store installation manager promises to call and let me know... but here I sit still waiting with a loust floor. Sure didn't hold up to the 25 year warranty and no one will repair or replace it as promised. RUN FAST- Don't buy Pergo and certainly don't buy it and have Lowes install it.

We too purchased our Pergo laminate floor from Lowe's and have had an ongoing complaint with them. They are very polite, but the problem has been passed from one person to another. Pergo came to inspect the floor, and they concluded that we have a moisture problem. Not true. The floor has essentially ruined the main part of our home. It crackles and crunches when you walk on it. The installer has been back three times and made adjustments that last only for awhile. We are completely frustrated and are at a loss as to what to do next.
Lowe's guarantees your satisfaction, but when it comes right down to it, they have failed to keep their promise.

I purchased Pergo through Lowe's and had them "professionally" install it in November of 2011. What a nightmare it has been! It started from the day of install. We noticed board ends not flush but curled at the end. We noticed the floor had a wavy look at the sides when the daylight hit it. Lowe's sent the crew out to take up and reinstall the same defective flooring. Well, that did not work, obviously. Finally, Pergo sent an inspector in February of 2012. Of course the Pergo inspector stated it was not a defective floor and was the fault of the installation company. Lowe's came out and insisted several more transition strips be placed in the ridiculous areas and cut out around more hot water heat pipes. Even the Lowe's installers thought it was crazy to have all these strips put in. Now our floor which was put in the family room, living room, kitchen, hallway, laundry and two bathrooms is butchered with transition strips. And...it made the floor worse. Now it is mushy in several areas. We decided to hire and independent, certified inspector in May. Yes, it is still ongoing. He came from out of state to the tune of $750. This inspector does work for manufacturers and individuals. His report was very detailed. First conclusion, the floor was defective from the manufacturer. Big surprise, the inspector from Pergo did not find the same problems. Second conclusion, the installation was faulty and the unnecessary transition strips made the floor worse. He did not find any problems with the side joints (cupping) which we saw but said the installation company should never had installed it over the sub-floor and it should have been leveled. This was news to us. I gave a copy of this report to Lowe's. Lowe's contacted me after the person that owns the install company told them I refused a new sub-floor. This was a complete lie. My attorney, (yes, I have been in contact with an attorney) said the install company would have made me sign off on the warranty if that was true. Lowe's is currently waiting to hear back from Pergo. Our contract is with Lowe's and they are taking forever to resolve this issue. I have many photos from the inspector showing many problems both with the Pergo and with the installation. I do not know when this will be settled. It did not make me feel optimistic when the inspector told us to keep the flooring from the uninstalled package in case it goes to court. I will never purchase any Pergo product again. The fact that they hired a biased inspector who told them what they wanted to hear, was enough for me. And, yes, the floor does dent and scratch easily. But, that is the least of our problems.

My husband purchesed pergo flooring in 2010, after it was installed by lowes people, the floor started to bubble an shift. Pergo sent out an inspector. One month after it was installed,. His comment was that it was normal. For the floor to act this way and that it was not aclomated long enough. The floor was only installed less than two monthes earlyer. I still have problems of it shifting gapping, an blistering. If theres any thing that can be done please. Contact me at 704 / 5385377 fl0werm0m5@bellsouth. Net

I have installed a lot of different brands of laminate flooring. This is what I do for a living, for about 10 years now. The inspecters they send out do not know how to figure out the problems. They get paid either way. And some of them have never installed laminate. I do know that Lowes and Home depot have Pergo make brands just for their stores. Most of the Pergo sold at these two stores are over priced. I don't care for the quality of their laminate floors. Checkout- my3cents.com

I always tell my clients to get samples before hand and try to scratch them with their keys. Installation can cause problems with the floors also. I did a job for someone who got a great deal (FREE SHIPPING) every end joint squeaked. So he gave me a candle and I had to rub the wax on every end joint, what a hassle.

But I have done laminate floors that looked the same after 4 year when I went back to do more work for them.

Its best to do some research before you buy. laminate flooring reviews

Anthony Garrison, as of today I will be on the FOURTH shipment reorder of Pergo XP, due to problems with the laminate chipping and being warped even PRIOR to install! Just as you stated above, the quality is not up to par. Our laminate had marks of black on the laminate itself that could not be removed. The first batch of Pergo flooring was installed less than 6 mths. ago. We paid more than $6500 in cash to have our floors done. Any advice?

I am having the same problems with my Armstrong World Industries laminate floor and it was a relief to read other's had the so-called "certified professional inspector" come out whilst being paid by the company that actually supplied the flooring and installed it. I was reluctant to say anything until I read that this is what they do to cover their A##es and so they don't have to replace the floor. They want to just fix the transition boards and leave all the warped boards on my floor! I NEVER wet mopped this laminate floor but they are swearing that I did and holding me responsible by refusing to replace it. It squeaked from the very first day and the transition strips came up after 2 weeks. Soon as they came up, the boards started moving and shifting all over the place. What a nightmare. I think I am going to go to vinyl or lino. This is horrible and I am going to lose my case unless I hire my own inspector, which I now cannot afford. They hired one and he sided with them. SURPRISE, SURPRISE, SURPRISE!

We had Pergp installed throughout our whole home. It has a film on it that cannot get rid of. We clean it with recommended products and as soon as it dries it is smartly. If you step on it with a tennis shoe or our dog walks on it you can see a definite print. I feel we have become slaves to our floor just to make them look halfway decent. Very disappointed!

I totally agree with teshss I have had this pergo flooring for 10 years. I was younger then and cleaned it on my hands and knees. It took 12 hours each time as it is in dinning, room living, hall and stairs. Since then I have had a hip replaced and can not clean them like that. It still takes a good 8 hours. Damp moping with the cleaner that recommend and drying them. The last time I could not walk straight for 3 days. Sure wish we never got Pergo. I am 67 years old and these floors are torcher. I hate them! Can not afford to get rid of them so I am stuck. Tried contacting Pergo and got NO response.

I am a master carpenter with 30 years experience in both commercial and residential interiors. I have installed all types of flooring and have used Pergo, from Home Depot, throughout my own home. While, I am not advocating whether it is good or bad, I can tell you there are considerations when choosing a flooring material, particularly Pergo. When it comes to purchasing anything at home depot, be picky, get as much information about the product and its application as you can, and take your time. Whether you get something installed, be picky, get as much information about the product and its application as you can, and take your time. Purchasing Pergo flooring from big box stores is not different. I had to go to my local store many times before I was able to locate the flooring with the right fit and at the right price. Despite my years of experience as a carpenter, I did a lot of research before I made my first purchase. More times than not, the cheaper the material the less performance you will get out of it and the more experience you will need to install it correctly. I found several pieces of flooring with defects and I exchanged them at the store. I can't tell you how many times I went back and forth to the store. Do not settle. Once the product is in, it's in.
Finally, NO MATERIAL, NO MATTER WHAT IT COSTS HAS LIMITATIONS ON ITS PEFORMANCE. If you exclude proper maintenance, you will short the life of the material. I installed Pergo 10mm Ashville Hickory from Home Depot in a 200 year old house, one floor above the basement with no specially underlayment. I mixed it with Pergo Ligoria Slate 10mm to give it a unique stile. I picked these floor materials because they had a good resistance to slipping, the price was fair (about $3 SF), and I could go to any Home Depot if I had any problems. I purchased the flooring over a six month period of time without problems with matching. I installed it throughout my dinning room/foyer/living room area over a two week period of time (I work long hours). It was very difficult to install as compared to other flooring materials. Overall I am satisfy with Pergo. If I wasn't I wouldn't have purchased it in the first place. Hope this helps. jpy@prodigy.net

I myself had same problem with PergoMax, just a month in my floor already showing swelling or blistering like, bought it from Lowes and was told we'll send someone to fixed it with your own cost, and they send Pergo representative took pictures but couldnt come up with the reason so he blamed Bona the product that I cleaned the floor with, which specifically instructed by the installer (which is Lowes sub-contractor) do not used water becuase it will show streaks and doesn't look like you cleaned it. So here I Am still waiting Pergo but nothing. Contacted a lawyer but this is not 10, 000 suggested to email
the upper management of Pergo. I think if we all voiced out somebody might hear us, any family shouldn't go through that we've been through we just a house care free but instead it became a headache.

We had Pergo Moneta Mahogany professionally installed in our kitchen. Within 2 months the edges began to bubble up (de-laminate). We too have gotten the runaround from Pergo. They sent an inspector and have denied our claim, saying we have a "moisture problem". This despite a moisture reading that fell well below the recomendations for laminate flooring. It is shocking that Pergo does not stand by their product. Unfortunately I will now need to seek legal help to settle this.

I have had big problems with Pergo Max Moneta Mahogany. Within two months of professional installation the seams began to bubble. It looked like the boards had been soaked for days in water! Pergo sends over an independent inspector who checks for plumbing leaks, humidity levels in the house, etc. Everything checks out fine. Pergo will honor their warranty, right? Wrong! Pergo refuses to to address the problem claiming that "swollen seems are sign of a moisture issue in the home". This is a faulty product and Pergo refuses to do the right thing. I will never buy their products again and will advise everyone I know to do the same.

I wish i had done my homework before purchasing Pergo at my local Home Depot! I assumed Pergo would be the best choice as the name has always had a good reputation in my mind. I didnt realize that Pergo manufactured a special line for the big box stores which makes me question the quality! I had Home Depot install my floor 2 weeks ago and it began creaking and crackling every step i take in many areas of the flooring. This flooring replaced laminates that had been in my home for 10 years without ANY difficulties! ( installed by a local private flooring company) There was no problem with my subfloor, no moisture at all. I have laminates in the bedrooms which have been down for 5 years and are perfect. Now i have this nightmare and from the sounds of this forum, i will get no satisfaction from Pergo or Home Depot. I am at a loss for what to do as i dont have another 4k to pull out to replace these floors. Never again, buyer beware!

I picked up my Pergo Max from Lowes on 2/13/15 and had a friend of mine that's has been doing professional flooring for over 20 yrs help me install it on that same weekend. We got it all down on Saturday and did the transitions on Sunday. So it had been down for 1 day and looked awesome. We walked out into the laundry room which was the last room we did so that floor was only down for about 20 hours and noticed bumps on it in the light from the window got down and looked and it was already blistering on the seems after not even a day. Made me sick to see it after the money I spent on the 10mm Max thinking I was getting their best product. Will never buy anything from Pergo again or recomend it to anyone. DO NOT BUY PERGO FLOORING ITS JUNK!

Don't waste your money on PergoMax flooring, it is anything but tough, inferior product of China. Flooring was purchased at Lowes, installed by Lowes installer. Floor looked really nice when new, but now less than 2 years old, showing wear and separation . This home is occupied by 2 over 50 adults! Pergo is a total disappointment .

We had pergo Visconti walnut flooring put in in August of 2014 by a lowe's contractor and it has been 8 months with no problems other than they show a lot of dirt. I'm wondering how the people w problems are cleaning the floors? We use a special spray for wood/laminate and microfiber cloth mop-never any water. Also, wondering if regional climate affects the floors?

A couple points I want to hit here:

1. Many times people refer to all laminate flooring as "Pergo". If you're buying laminate flooring that is $.89 a square foot chances are that it is NOT Pergo brand.

2. This is really important... Pergo flooring manufactured in the U.S. is not the same as Pergo flooring in Canada. Pergo might tell you it is but it is not. The Canadian made material looks, feels, installs and performs better. Trust me. If you get Pergo flooring, check the box and make sure it came out of Canada!

I bought Pergo Max Moneta Mahogany 2 years ago. Went to Lowes and was advised it is under investigation for the locking system and they can no longer sell it. Mine has separated and has gaps. Looked beautiful when first put down and now looks horrible. You can get a toe caught in the gap if you walk barefoot. A very expensive mistake buying this floor.

WOW! My son is having the same problem with his flooring separating. He went to Lowes and they filed a complaint but said it had been past a year on their part as far as the install. He is still waiting to hear from them. He just recently had new Pergo flooring installed in the rest of his place. We are hoping it doesn't do the same thing. BTW, the first rooms he had done just did this after the flooring was installed in the other rooms.
