Last week I made a deposit in my Reserve account for a check in the amount of 1478. It turned out that it was a mistake on my part, and I accidently deposited this check twice. The check was put on 5 day hold right away. The next day the amount of the check (1498) was withdrawn from my spending account, causing me to overdraw and incur fees. Meanwhile the check in the reserve is still on hold. I have been calling every day to see if the hold can be lifted and i can get the money to fix my spend account.
I was reputedly told that the hold had to stay on there and they have no control over this. Meanwhile I have been unable to do anything with my account.
Today 10/24 I received an email that the hold was lifted from the check, however when i called this morning I was told that was not true. I was told that PNC is waiting for Chase Bank (the issuer of the check) to call PNC to release the hold. No time frame given and i still have to wait.
I was also given the number to call to Chase bank with a reference number to see if I can help expedite the release of the hold. I have been given no explanation on why this has happened in the first place. And I feel this is ridicules to ask your customers to call the bank and do their job to get a hold taken off of a check... I am looking to switch banks now and I have been a PNC customer for a very long time.
Desired outcome: I want the money credited to my account and all overdraft fees credited, as well as some type of compensation for my time and inconvenience this has caused me for a week and a half...
