on line billling fee's
The convenience fee listed for on line payments is ridiculous! Their not helping the customer or the environment. I was trying to save paper and a few trees. I am canceling my on line account and paying by mail. It's the principle, if I mail the bill it's.41 cents! Paying on line is $5.41 no way. At what point should a customer take a stand especially when it's a green one!

bad service & cheaters
I called pse&g to schedule repair appointment for my central air conditioner. I have service contract as well. One day I called and no one answered for about 45 mins and then I hung up. Next day, I tried again for 38 mins and finally some one picked up and I scheduled an appointment for friday may 1st from 4 to 8pm. I come home from work so that I can attend the technician but I waited until 8pm and no one showed up and no one called to cancel or change the appointment. I called up customer service to find out what happened and they told me that some one did show up at my home around 1:30pm or something and they don't know why.
Okay, then I asked to re-schedule for next day and so rep scheduled for next day may 2nd from 12 to 4pm. So, next day when no one called and showed up until 2pm I called the customer service to make sure that the same mistake does not happen like yesterday. Rep told me that yes I do have an appointment scheduled for today so I should wait until 4pm. I asked to call the technician and find out approx time when he/she will be here. Rep told me they can not do that and I will need to wait because they will show up. Guess what, I waited until 4pm and no one called and no one showed up. Then, I called customer service again, and I was shocked to hear that in the system there was no appointment scheduled for today rather it was scheduled for may 30 from 8 to 4. So, somebody changed my appointment and made me look like fool. Now, I am waiting to hear back from a supervisor but I doubt any one will call me back.

PSE& $ I agree 100 percent if your late they will make you pay a huge deposit and they make the money on yours ! ive been here 6 years and been no more than a month late due to travel for work and always payed they are a monopoly and should be broken up ! We are also having major issues with PSE&G. I think they need to be investigated and reprimanded for ripping off consumers. Month after month our bill seems to steadily increase. I am not home for at least 12 hours on a daily basis due to my work schedule but yet my bill is always dictating differently. They have not come to do a physical manual real reading on my meter in I can't even tell you how long! How can they continue to "estimate" my bill and OVERCHARGE me month after month! I want to know where we as consumers can go to lodge a formal complaint and have PSE&G investigated for overcharging and deceiving customers! My neighbors are also having similar problems and this is a real concern. They will turn you off in a heartbeat for nonpayment but they continue to get away with falsifying charges. How would they like it if I "estimated" the amount in which I want to pay! They can estimate how much they would like me to pay! Fair is fair after all!
rip-off in the name of the bills
Pse&g is a complete monopoly in providing utility services, there service is extremely bad, if you need to talk to a customer service rep, you need to be on hold for about 30-45 mins. Their billing system and meter reading is a complete rip-off of consumers. They don't explain their bills well. During and winter/summer, for the peak two or three months irrespective of you use electricity/gas or not you have to pay double/triple the usage... Because they say so. And then when you ask for a meter change and meter replacement, you end up paying for the old and the new meter for the month. They don't have the courtesy to apologize and agree to their mistakes, even when the next bill with the new meter goes down by 5 times from the previous one. Never trust this pse&g company>they are just exploiting us consumers>

It's hard to argue with real experiences but unfortunately these things happen, however the reality is that you shouldn't t have to put up with it. And the great thing is that you don't: there are other choices to get energy out there - I am of course referring to solar energy.
You may have heard about solar before, but what you may not have heard is that solar can offset you bills to practically nothing and it is far more affordable than you might think:
a) If one has the means they can purchase it for cash, It pays for itself in about 6 to 7 years. No more bills plus it earns you an income. Enough said.
b) One can also take out a loan and finance it that way. Immediate savings can still be achieved from day one even with a loan however the payback term is slightly lengthened to account for the loan interest payments. You still get the income through selling your energy credits and when the loan is paid off you have full energy savings and the income combined; or
c) the third option that one can take is to lease a solar system. In this case the leasee is able to lower their electricity bills today and continue to pay that same low amount each month for the entire lease term of eight years - and with no upfront cost to the leasee.
For example, if you are paying an average electricity bill of $120/month (1, 400/year) you will only have to pay about $96/month (or $1, 152/year) for the next eight years -- even if electricity rates are sky-rocketing. At worst you save $288 in the first year for doing nothing, and as rates rise you save more. The best part is you don't have to pay anything to have it installed: The financier takes care of that.
It's awful to hear stories like these, but because it's PSE&G it means you're in New Jersey and New Jersey happens to be the best state in the country for assisting individuals with adopting solar. So, if PSE&G are causing you grief then give solar a thought.

how things are handled
My name is rita and my son has asthma. My doctor faxed a letter over to them stating he has asthma. Pseg is seem so worried about a bill being late that they don't seem to care about my 3year old sons life. I never recieved any type of special sticker on my box or anything to remind them and there staff that he has asthma. PSEG made me pay $500 when i first started my service with them. They told me after a year it would be refunded back to me. Well its been 2 years and still i havent recieved my money back. Im not a licensed electrician, but if I shut the main to my house and all of its subs, why is my electric meter still spinning? I check everything - nobody is mooching my power. Comes in to the meter, out to my panel and thats it. I called pse&g 3 weeks ago to report the issue. After ording dinner and eating it, while waiting for a human, I finally got one...

1) I agree with the other complaints regarding delivery charges and that they seem to be a monopoly in gas distribution.
2) does anyone get ticked off with their web site? With all the money they are charging, why can't they come up with a website with a customer login where you can track your bills, bill history for at least the last couple of years. What is the point of their website. Even my electric company jersey central has a way more decent site than theirs. Really disapointing web site in this day in age.
3) I should be able to pay with my credit card. At least will earn some meager points to offset the bills in the winter time.

It is so hard to get anything done with them. That's why I switched away. I went to www.electricchoice.com and now if I need anything I can just call them. PSE&G is probably the most unethical company in this business and we're stuck with them. You know about the wait times in trying to get thru to them. They always apoligize and say "we've just changed our system to make it work better" or we're working on it". which is pure cr*p! They just don't care!
IF you have an issue with your meter, they will take out and check without ever getting back to you with results - unless you call several times. And the meter checking company they've used is very unreliable. I've been told that they send the meters out, erase the serial numbers - then put new serial numbers on them and send back out to someone else. They just don't care!
I'm going to move next month, and tried to use online transfer, but always failed. then I tried to call them several times in different time, every time waited more than 30 minutes. and till now, I didn't reach any representative, have to try and wait again and again.
All the comments are true .PSE&G turned my lights off in july O8, and they said my bill was 2500 and that I have not payed my bill in two years. Why would they allow my lights to still be on if i owe that much money on my bill ?To memake a long story short my lights are still off and now my bill is 3500 and its august of o9 and i havent had my meter read in 7 months.My lights were off and i was staying somewhere else because of an illness.I have been calling coustomer service so they can send someone out here to read my meter so i can pay the right amount that I owe, nobody wants to talk to me bacuase coustomer service reps are to busy tawking to each other.
I've been trying to get in touch with customer service for two days, the message says power outages high volume calls try later. They're threating me with shutting for my gas because I've made two appointments to have my gas meter changed and no one shows up but they say I wasn't home.
PSE&G Worry Free has been charging me $60 a year for four years now for my refridgerator. They have came over since the begining to make my refridgerator work better. they always give me an excuse like it works fine or we don't cover exterior or ice maker or anything i ask for. now they told me its too old. so why was i paying them $60 a year for four years? they new from the beginging how old my fridge was and still took my money. is there anyone who can help me get mo money for four years of them not fixing anything?
pseg is horrible. i cant get through to anyone on the phone ever! i tried to cancel my service at my old apartment and they are still sending bills there in my name. i really wish there was another gas/electric company i could use

public service-what a joke! impossible to get through by phone (i think there is only one c/s agent.) their web site sucks-try to send a request or get any info! i call in my meter reading (meter inside) and they just average the reading. when i pay the bill, i just short pay by $25 or $30 bucks to get some attention. i've actually been threatened with utility shut off when i pay my bill each month without fail because they had'nt gotten an actual reading in a year. i actually spent an entire saturday waiting for a meter reading. i left a note on my front door telling them to come to the rear of the house (the meter access is there) as i was working out back.several hours later there was a note on my door saying noone had answered and please schedule a new appointment.my note was gone! bill holland-pseg customer for 25 years.

I waited for a rep., who was to be available in 15 minutes, did not come on the phone even after 25 minutes. On April 7, 2009 I waited on the phone from 11.50 AM to 12.15 PM for 25 minutes and they show total contempt for customers.
Who is th CEO who is running this show. He should publicly apologize and resign, if he has any sense of responsiblity.

My name is kimberly vine and i'm a victim of pse&g. For the past several months I have experienced bad customer service and repair service from pse&g. Due to this, I have experienced a major flood twice now in my kitchen! I am now having my floor and sub floor replaced. Absolutely sick and tired of calling PSE&G re the same issues, which are:
incorrect amount owed
problem with previous meter. fyi, PSE&G knows that there are many meters in users homes that are not calculating correctly. it's up to them to make sure that yours does work correctly. Make sure that once the meter is tested that they send you a report not only on if the meter is working correctly - but what company tested it - as some of the companies they use are known to not run tests and return meters to them - indicating that they are okay or within the correct range. It's up to you the consumer to demand that your meter is tested and find out who tested it. Many of the bad meters get their serial numbers replaced with new ones and get put into the field again for service, with PSE&G knowingly putting out bad meters.
I am getting closer to resolving the issues, but it's been very painful. A good place to start that you won't find out by calling the normal phone numbers is there executive office. Oh you'll still find curt people there, ones that want to speak over you while you're explaining the issue - but it's a better start than speaking to low level / can't do anything employees.

Unprofessional : still waiting for gas to be turned on
We moved into west orange on nov 1 2008. The technician was supposed to come yesterday nov 3rd for gas to be turned on. Never came. Called customer service and the lady checked something and said that they will be sending someone over by the night. Got a call from a technician around 8 pm and was told he doesnt know anything about gas he fixes only electric!
Called again rescheduled, is supposed to come again today (nov 4th) between 8 am and 4 pm for connection. About 3:40 pm now and still no one has showed up. Called customer service now and are told that he can come any time between now and midnight! I took a day off for this and this is the answer I get. Have called customer service about 5 times for past 2 days. Am not sure what else I need to do to get the technician to come over and get my gas turned on.
2 PSE&G workers came to our home on March 3, 2013, to check our furnace. This man was very rude, disrespectful, and confrontational. He stated that according to information in his system, the furnace was cracked so what did we want? I informed him that the furnace was repaired by a licensed plumber and has since been approved by PSE&G inspectors. He told me to get out of his fricking face and get away from him. I asked him to at least look at it. In his rudest manner this individual told me to go back in the fricking house. At that point things could have gotten very, very ugly. Who does this individual thinks he is to come to a customer's home and speak to them in that manner? Lastly, I cannot find a number to file an official complaint about this employeeCan anyone please help me in contacting the right department/person(s) to file a complaint. Something has to be done about people like this.
understanding the bill
I have yet to really figure out this bill from pse&g. When you go to there website to see "understanding your bill" it doesn't tell you why you have multiple rate charges for delivery and supply.
For example I have under delivery.
Kwh charges 340 kwh @$0.04744...
Next 590kwh @$0.051474...
And the same with supply which may have up to 3 "next" listings for it.
Does any one else get a bill that looks like this. Are they in the middle of the month changing the charges and thats what "next" is. Am I being f*k by them or what? I called them a while back but didn't seem to get any clear answer that made sense. Also just canceled my service and it looks like they are trying to charge me for an estimated rate for time that I am not even living there.

This is a monopoly at its best. They charge a delivery and supply charge for delivering gas and electric services to customers. Get this, the delivery charge is 1/2 the amount of the supply! I am having a nightmare dealing with pseg customer service. I needed my gas service discontinued - for lack of use, since I have moved out of the home and the heat is not gas but electric. I called about 4 times to request this before finally being told that after my request date, my name had been removed from the account and I was not going to be responsible for any bills after january 7, 2008. I got a bill today february 11, 2008 for over $300... I called to find out why and a rude customer service rep. Called mr. Perera rudely told me that I would get a revised bill, with no explanation about what is going on. This is crazy! I am just tired of rude so-called customer service people who are not adequately trained and are obviously in the wrong industry disrespecting me. It is our money that holds this company together. Law makers need to hold companies accountable to their customers - it is ridiculous to get this kind of treatment and still be paying an arm and a leg for a service I do no need. Someone please address this rudeness at pseg.

I have not get my monthly statement since April. I called and emailed. August now still no bill. I have been paying online. They claim the last person live in my property last name is Nguyen so my bill probably got to their house in another town. Why can PSE&G send to the service address?
I had a service appointment today, 11/18/19, for a broken handle on my wall oven, the young man you sent was rude and told me ( 86 years old ) to shut up when I asked a question. He should be fired. I don't want him back when my part comes in; hopefully, it will be after he is gone. How do you hire people like this that have no manners and are completely devoid of how to deal with customers, especially older long time customers. This is a black mark on your human resources group that this type person could slide through the system

PSEG are bullies. I own a small business and the bill is over 4 grand a month and i pay on time but if I am a day late they have shut off my power with out even a call. I need to find a new service because this company is the worst. They are a monopoly and do not care about their customers at all. The customer service is horrible, I got scammed out of 2 thousand dollars because a person calling from "PSEG" called and told me they were coming to shut off the power i panicked and paid but the customer service women called me dumb and was so rude. I hate this company it gives me so much anxiety and they bully all of their customers and I am so tired of it.
Pseg been charging me natural gas that I never agree on ... I really don't know how they got all my info and they change my account to another company without telling me and know I have a bill of more than $1, 000 and keeps going up . I call pseng about what's going on and the only thing they told me was to be careful who I give my I for to people and I told them I'm not even home most of the time who I was gonna give it to ! And they said they were gonna fix it I got my last bill and there still other companies charging me more than $160 for charges that I got no clue ... I'm so dealing pissed of this situation
Why is a utilities monopoly like the despicable PSE&G even permitted to exist and make the quality of citizens lives even more difficult than it already is? This is an outrage. There must be something that can be done.
PSEG customer service is horrible in Jersey City, NJ. My apt was flooded in Sandy and there was no electricity for the month of November. But they sent a $160 bill for november. I asked if they can send anyone to turn on the gas and if they can call me before they come as I was in office.
The mechanic comes to the Apt, calls from an blocked number and says he can wait for 2 minutes. When I call back customer service, the lady says I will have to sit in my Apt the whole day because they cannot tell me the time when they will come. She says I need the service so it is my problem. Take into consideration that for every call, you have to wait for 15 minutes.
I will be happy when they go out of business. They do not know how to service customer.
I am receipt of your letter dated January 24, 2012 however postmarked February 2nd and received on February 3rd. I find your investigation should be reconsidered as your rotted pole caused this damage to my home. Please have PSEG's work records pulled for replacing the pole. I started calling in October regarding this issue; Fort Lee Police Department also called please have your telephone calls recordings requested as I know what I stated during the 15 to 20 telephone calls that I personally made. I specifically stated the rotted pole was pulling the siding off my house! How can your office state weather related this was a direct result of the lack of maintenance on PSEG's behalf.
I have forwarded pictures and an estimate for the damages your rotted pole made to my home. I have made every effort to resolve this mater reasonably and your office is just going to deny taking responsibility. I find your company's position appalling and the lack of disregard to my property. I am requesting that a Supervisor in your Department review my claim as you can't blame the weather when it was your rotted pole #60074 FTL. I know for a fact your office replaced the rotted pole however I have pictures showing the extent of the damage. This response has taken another 21 days for another response from your office.
I have spent a lot of time calling in this rotted pole and still spending time on this as a result of your office's lack of handling this claim!

Convenience...whose convenience? PSE&G benefits the most when they get the money quickly and conveniently directly into their coffers without having to process millions of checks. They should be discounts for online payments. They are not saving trees, they are selling trees by charging ten times more the cost of posting a check.
I know it's late to comment here but I totally agree Knickerbocker and Slienttkv. There is no need for even a $1.00 fee. It's nothing more than a wire transfer. Sheesh even banks that send out internet checks in the regular mail don't charge. I would much rather pay all my bills one way so I only have to pay one bill for everything but with idiot Companies like PSE&G it's not going to happen anytime soon. It doesn't make any sense to charge the paying customer. Unless they don't see us as paying customers since they have literally no competition what so ever and probably never will.
Too much snow outside so I decided to try and pay online and was also surprised at the $6 convenience fee. I'll take my chances in the snow. If it was $1, I could understand but $6 is ridiculous. Now I read elsewhere that the money goes to a third party that does the transactions but still, other companies find other ways not to charge extra, PSE&G should do the same.
I totally agree! Is PSE&G THAT stupid to think that we believe that they don't get a piece of that $6 "convenience fee"? And even if they don't (I believe they do), what does it say about a company that contracts with someone to set up a web page and charges customers enormous fees when just about every other utility company that has such a site DO NOT CHARGE ANYTHING?
They better start hiring more customer service/bill processing people, because that $6 fee is going to set PSE&G's bill paying back into the 20th Century.
