Credit on cancelled policy not received
I paid $461 on Jan 29th, 2022 which was for 6 month auto policy, which I cancelled on April 2nd, due to a more affordable offer/policy with my Homeowner's Insurance carrier (Traveler's). After speaking with my local Farmer's agent, he assured me that I'd be credited for the 1-month "unused" policy fee. It's now been 35 days since cancellation and NO credit has been issued back to me. I have spent many, many hours trying to reach a Billing specialist to look into my credit. I have spoken to over a dozen Farmer's Cust. Service agents, who report there is an "error" in the billing system that is preventing the credit from being issued. They're also telling me that my policy has not been cancelled and that I now owe them $174+. Unbelievable. It was supposedly expedited to a software repair individual over 3 weeks ago, and issue remains unresolved!
Desired outcome: Issue my credit with interest back to my Visa card
Rude/unprofessional behavior
Agent Bruce Harley was very belligerent, disrespectful and unprofessional when I called to merely request a proof of insurance form. His request was I going to refinance. He started yelling and accusing me of and stating what he can do. I have received this type of behavior since Claims Representative Wynton Winters refused to pay a mold claim over a year ago when I used a company he recommended. These two men are very unprofessional and make Farmers look poorly.

Homeowners policy
We purchased a Homeowner's Policy from Farmers along with a supplemental "floater" to cover additional jewelery including my wife's engagement and wedding ring. In the policy floater it specifically states the additional coverage (for which we paid an additional premium) is for insurance of of the items detailed in the floater-listing her rings.
One evening my wife noted that her 1.5 ct diamond looked "cloudy". After taking it to a reputable jeweler it was determined that the diamond was cracked, not totally uncommon but for which there is no universal cause and according to the jeweler would be covered by our floater.
We contacted our Farmers agent (Bill Smith) to file a claim who immediately passed us off to the claims agent - providing a phone number only and not even making the effort to make a call.
Long and short of it - Farmer's made every effort not to cover this loss. During one stage of the investigation the adjuster even contacted the jeweler after receiving his report asking him to re-write the letter using "her words". In addition when I spoke with the Claims Manager he had to go to his legal team to get an explanation of "marring" which the term they used for denial of coverage. If this is in their policy and is being used as the reason for denial of the claim shouldn't the manager know what "marring" is.
Farmer's informed us that their floaters provide no additional coverage for the items listed in the floater outside of what is covered in the homeowners policy and for which a premium was paid. Even sillier, they explained if the diamond was completely lost suspiciously it would have been covered! Marring is a term listed in their Homeowners coverage as it pertains tho the structure and integrity of a residence - no mention on how it applies to jewelry.
As a follow up we made several calls to several other insurance agents/brokers including Allstate, Safeco etc. to verify this explanation and took the ring to several credible jewelers and every one had the same response "That's ridiculous!" and "What is marring?" "Never heard of such a thing, this stuff has always been covered." "Most floaters are all risk world-wide."
Damage Resulting = The diamond either needs to be replaced $12K and setting repaired or we can try to have the diamond re-cut and re-set but it will change the overall size and weight thus reducing the value. Either way we are out of pocket several thousand dollars.
farmer insurance is completely SCAM. we purchased home insurance with this company. we went through all details that we had with hippo insurance, and at the end they offered lower price, so we didn't renew with our hippo. we signed a contract and paid in full for a year with farmer, but after 2 month, we got a message that they are going to charge us another $122 for change of policy! Are you serious? we were NOT crazy to change our insurance company to a new one for a Higher PRICE! we talked to them and told them it's not acceptable to scam your customers like that, and we are not going to pay that extra nonsense charge. So, we got another email that they will cancel our policy on July 17,2022.
STAY AWAY from this SCAM COMPANY.
Sacramento, CA
My 1988 Firebird was stolen from me while at work. I was told to give estmate of car value and receipts for total loss in value. Total is $4100.00 . They first offered approx $100.00 at first. Next offer approx. $800.00 . This is after a $1000.00 deductable. I feel that after 20 years of paying for premiums in full that the real theives are Farmers Insurace Co.
Refund of cancelled policy
I cancelled my policy almost two months ago because, even though I've had no accidents, my rate INCREASED even though the agent, Nicholas Gardner, had promised it would reduce. When I asked him why he blamed his manager. At that point I cancelled my policy and was due a 133.00 refund. It's been almost two months now and I still haven't received my refund.
I called Nicholas Gardner and asked for his managers name and number but he then said he didn't have a manager (even though he had claimed one as an excuse previously) and he refuses to give me another number to call yet can't tell me where my refund is or why I haven't yet received it. The last time I called he hung up on me. Very unprofessional behavior.

Bad faith, delayed payments, incompetent workers
Farmers Inaurance has been rated as the worst company for handling claims in a fair, timely, and competent manner. Multiple complaints exist for bad faith, stalled payments, denials, stonewalling, etc etc etc.
Neither Farmers Insurance nor their agents are ever to be trusted.
A simple search on "Ethel's Bill HB 2415" or "Christoffersen University Place Farmers" will show how little anyone can trust Farmers to follow through on their insurance obligations.
Avoid Farmers Insurance at all costs.
