Mattress
I bought 2 x Sealy mattresses in August 2021 (Clio Firm Double Mattresses) from Mattress Warehouse because I have always believed that Sealy was the best - wow am I now disappointed.
At the beginning of March my mom sat on the mattress in order to lie down, and we heard what was like a 'thunk' sound. The spot where she was sitting now had like a flat spot and she said that when she was lying down, it felt like she was going to roll off of the bed. We have rotated the mattress however that spot still exists, so when we get to rotating it again she will have the same issue where she feels lie she will roll off of the bed.
I was asked to send photos of the mattress to Sealy even though I said that you can not see the problem, you can only feel the problem.
The photos's were sent on 11-March.
My reference is: 285946
Someone from Sealy contacted me and advised that as they can see no problem with the mattress there is nothing that they can do. I must just keep rotating the mattress and if there is still a problem in 3 months time, to contact them.
I said that this was unacceptable and that they should send someone from Sealy to come and feel the mattress for themselves.
She said that they can not owing to Covid and that its against their policy - this is ridiculous - they are able to sell mattresses but unable to attend to complaints.
The lady that phoned also said that a mattress was meant for lying on, and not sitting on - How are we meant to lie down on a mattress if we can't sit on it in order to lie down?
After this experience I would not recommend a Sealy mattress to anyone. I am extremely disappointed.
Desired outcome: Sealy come out and inspect the problem rather than relying on a photograph
Warranty
Upon selecting a Sealy Mattress and finalizing the purchase, the warranty and 10 year no questions asked timeframe was extensively explained to me. After five years, the product began to fail rather quickly and noticeably. The manufacturer and the furniture company were notified.
The Sealy Customer Service Reps were understanding. However, after weeks and dozens of hours on the phone with five Reps, the ball has not moved an inch in their circus. If anything, I've been the brunt of their antics in the never ending loop of buck passing and their lost files.
To this, there exists a very strange aire within the company whereby the Reps and thier co-horts seem to get a bizarre thrill out of confounding the facts, made up promises and seem to move the goal post from one desk to another.
There eventually is an end, where the company creates an imagined scene whereby they wish to cancel the warranty. However the warranty reads, the Sealy Company has done their best to aviod, run the customer in circles and pass responsibility from one clown in the circus to another.
Warranty with Sealy? Does not exist ! Buyer Beware. Buyer Run Away faster than Forest Gump in the movie ! Take your business and hard earned money elsewhere.
Desired outcome: Refund and apology to all Veterans for the way they treated this Disabled, Vietnam Veteran.
return policy
I brought a Sealy mattress last week at Big Lots and it is a dud. My wife and I both feel like we are rolling off the edges when we go to bed. The one I laid down on in the store did not feel that way. My back is now killing me during the night and when I get up in the morning. It's hard for me to believe this is a true king size Sealy posturpedia mattress as it's not as wide or long as the king size mattress than we replaced. Can I return it for a refund?
Mattress industry scam
How many of you remember having a bed mattress for 10 or more years? It was not uncommon. Yes, eventually the mattresses finally broke down but it was after many, many years of service. Today, most mattresses utilize cheap foam top layers all in the name of comfort. Yes, they feel great in the store and promise sleep time bliss. But, the horrors will soon begin.
The more softness you crave, the higher the "pillow" top the more your world will come crumbling down. And soon.
My Sealy mattress ( mid-range cost, non-pillow top) was wonderful, for about 4 months. At that time it began to show the dreaded "body impressions" which I now learn are commomplace and a source of much complaint in mattress forums. Our body impressions are now about 1" deep, permanent and a cause of increasing back pain and discomfort. We haven't reached the magical 1.5" that manufacturers say represents a quaity problem. WTF? I say the 1" definitely represents a problem whether they want to admit it or not. My back tells me so.
There are technical solutions for this. Higher quality foams or even different foam materials such as natural latex which has a long history of durability. But manufactures are driven by costs or, certainly, the highest possible profit margins. Apparently, they aren't tuned-into the buzz and complaints because they continue to crank out products that clearly have an Achilles heel. The dreaded body impressions that feel and look bad due to breakdown of cheap closed cell foams.
So, I've had it. I'm moving on to a 100% natural latex foam mattress which, by many accounts, is far superior. I can truly expect years, even decades, of good performance. I'll do my homework and make sure I buy a high quality latex mattress ( beware of cheap versions or immitators). I'll pay more than the $1300 I paid for the Sealy but, you know what? I'll make it back in longevity, no back pain and better appearance compared to the saggy Sealy. Plus, I'll send a message ( ok, it's not much of a message) to the large mattress companies that they can take their junk and shove it. We want quality and durability, not marketing fluff and puff.

The Sealy’s latex mattresses feels great in the beginning but then lower back pain kicks in and you start to wonder. My 1y old Sealy’s latex mattress lost all its support and Sealy’s will not exchange because it is not sagging “enough”. So beware!!! Almost all latex mattresses will not sag enough to qualify for Sealy’s warranty. Their inspection is an...

After less than 2 years, deep depressions on both sides of a pillowtop king size sealy posterpedic mattress. We were never advised this mattress must be turned atleast once a WEEK!
Customer Service is horrible - we never received any information from the original store (no longer in business) about warranty. When we finally got to Sealy they argued we did get warranty info - Getting Sealy to answer the phone is impossible - we are responsible for the cost of returning the mattress' AFTER they approve and state there is a problem - we will
NEVER EVER buy another Sealy product
