Lawn mower
I bought a lawn mower with a warranty. After 5 months it was not working properly. I called TroyBilt, they recommended 3 names of service dealers. Upon calling the service sealers about defect on my Troy Bilt mower I started to learn from them that they do not want to deal with warranty service that involves Troy bilt because of previous bad experience with...

I have a Troy Bilt model TB110 push mower that was still under
warranty at the time an axle part broke. I called Lowe's where I had
bought it and they told me if I bring the mower they will examine it and
have Troy Bilt send a new replacement part. I loaded the whole mower in
my car plus the broken part I had removed and took it to the Lowe's
store within the next hour . When the store manager agreed it was a
defect he called Troy Bilt to find the part number and tried to get a
part sent. They told him I still needed to go to another authorized
service center so they could verify and then they would send a part. I
then came home and myself called Troy Bilt and was given a reference
number and then went to Power Mower and Equipment in Roanoke VA and the
service manager agreed it was a warrantied part that should not have
broken, , an apparent defect that should be replaced under the expressed
warranty. So he called Troy Bilt and was transferred 3 times while on
the phone for over 40 minutes. The last TB representative he spoke to, a
lady, said she was "conferring" to see if the part could be replaced
under warranty. She then disconnected him. The frustrated service
manager said she took all his information but he did not know whether
they would send it or not. I came home and called Troy Bilt and the rep
who answered said she could send me a part if I paid for the part and
shipping as she was in sales, , but the customer relations was closed
for the day. I asked if she could forward my message and have them call
me as it is very hard to navigate all the calls and all the waiting, ,
and she refused. She told me to call the next day. The next day I called
Troy Bilt again and the Troy Bilt Representative said that the service
manager should have called back if he was disconnected during the 40
minute process. They still refused to honor the warranty and then said
the service manager would have to call them again, as well submit an
official Troy Bilt form plus all documentation of the warranty before
they would consider my claim.
This was ridiculous. I had already loaded the whole large mower into my
car twice as requested even though I had the small part removed, and
driven a total of 28 miles with two different trips to two different
dealers and service people to verify the claim of which they both did.
This was all just a plain and simple case of forcing me to keep jumping
though hoops until i gave up on the claim. The really sad part is the
part only cost a total $21.38 which included shipping and yet they
pulled this stunt to refuse to honor the warranty . I certainly will
never buy a Troy Bilt product again and I told the representatives that
as well. After all, I did not put the warranty on the mower, they did.
If they are not going to honor a warranty, they should not have a
warranty. Troy Bilt / MTD has the worst and most devious customer
service regarding a warranty that I have ever encountered. i would avoid
this company at all costs.

lowes service advantage protection
When you buy the Lowes Service Advantage Plan at the time of purchase you are told that it picks up coverage after the manufactures warranty expires. They also tell you that it covers anything but abuse. So far I have had to pay for every repair to two pieces of equipment.[THERE IS NOWHERE IN THE RECEIPT OR THE BLUE FOLDER OR ANY OTHER PIECE OF PAPER THEY GIVE YOU WHAT THE PLAN COVERS . On there Self Propelled walk behind mower the air filter is exposed. And when you clean it or leave it out there is no way to protect the filter from getting wet. The warranty does not cover the repair of cleaning it out. The same thing happened with A Troy Bilt Weed Eater. It had the same problem. NOW on the same Push mower I have to pay 35.00 to have A object taken out of a jet in the carburetor. Why bother with the Protection Plan. Also I believe LOWES should tell the customer exactly what THEY ARE BUYING in the protection plan. I hate to switch back to Sears, but from dealing with them for so many years there protection plan was at least explained, and honored. BEWARE OF LOWES EXTENED PROTECTION PLAN. It is not worth the extra money.

my mower keeps breaking the drive belts on my 2009 troy bilt bronco does any one else have this problem and is this common because it a very good mower when it wants to work but it given me so many problems i replaced it with a 2014 craftsman which in my opion is a better machine i now just got the troy bilt as a back up
Never buy it
I purchased a Troy Built Lawnmower with a Honda Engine expecting to get a reliable
mower. I began to have problems right away, it would not stay running. I brought it
to a Troy Built authorized service center to have it repaired. When i went to pick
it up it still would not run correctly. I left it there and picked it up about a week
later. After getting it back again it ran ok for a few times then i started having
the same problems again. I brought it back to the same service center again and they
said they replaced the carberator. I brought it home and about a week later when i
went to use it for the first time since the repair i was still having the same
problems. As i was was having problems still i decided to bring it to a different
authorized service center that told me the carberator was gummed up cause of old gas
and that it would not be covered under warranty. The mower was only five months old
at this time, How could the carberator be gummed up with old gas when the carberator
was supposedly changed for a new one 3 three weeks earlier? I then called Troy built
to have them contact the service center to have them cover it under warranty as the
previous service center either did not do as they said and if there was old gas in it
it was do to me not being able to use it cause there service center could not fix the
problem and i could not use the mower almost the whole time i had it(only 6 Months)
Troy builts customer service acted as like i was trying to pull something and i was
treated very disrespectfully and refused to cover it under warranty. I have never
had worse customer service. Troy built does not stand behind thier product or there
service centers, I will never buy a Troy built product again.
I totally agree with what you said. I have seen first hand how bad Troy Bilt Customer Service is. Stay away at all costs
We purchased a self propelled Troy Bilt lawnmower. After one year the wheels and gears had to be replaced. They were very cheap plastic. After the second year the self propelled feature no longer worked. When we took it in for service we were told the transmission had to be replaced, which we were told cost in excess of $200. At this point we cut our losses and junked it. Our recommendation is to stay away from Troy Bilt. They are made with very cheap plastic materials that only last until the warranty expires. Total junk! Stay away at all costs. Lowes should not offer this sub par product to their customers.

To Blazes with their Board od Directors! My Troy Bilt is brand new a month ago, already dying and varies its idle by itself, not throttle control cable it is on or off, no variable speed possible

As I have read other, actual bad reviews, after my initial problem, it died after running until hot and then died as I tried to engage rear wheel drive...funny, I did not have to search for bad reviews, the first time I looked, but since I got it back, the reviews are all good on the whole first page! meaning Troy Bilt is removing, or just writing their own good reviews to keep consumers from seeing, how awful, they really are, believe me if I would have done my due diligence, before buying this expensive, (over 690 bucks) into the first non covered repair, I hope they ask me to bring it back, so I can say, no way! So, if any similar issue afflicts any Troy Bilt owners, have you had this issue, and what fixes it? No way am I getting ripped off, twice by the same fix it shop... and MENARDS, is the store that sells these wonderful pieces of machinery. I blame them, as well.
My Troy Bilt experience has not been that traumatic, yet, but as I brought the self propelled 23" cut push to the warranty service center, they said I would have to remove it from the box, as that protected it when I bought it, that is how I transported it, in a car, as well. 29 days from purchase date they said the carburetor warranty ran out at 30 days, the person was automatically assuming the carburetor would need service and erred in saying that was out of warranty, and I had to remind her it was day 29. So she should have surmised, I would have removed any oil and gas, since I brought it the box, and well it was tilted... the guy I picked it up from, (different person), said the carburetor was dirty, and it was out of OIL! Duh!, guess there isn't much communication, or they never intended to honor that warranty. Well it runs, long enough, now since bringing it home sitting on my back seat...delicate fragile mower, blade now hits the inside right of deck! Brought the crazy thing into my house, (HOT outside), thought I got it fixed, filed blade, re-installed. By hand it misses inside right of deck, thought I fixed it... No way, running it still does it! I hate this thing!
