Like the other customers listed I have been charged unreasonable amounts for unsolicited product. Seattle Coffee Direct did not even fulfill its promotional promise of two bags and a grinder but have charged me for it anyway. I signed up for the $9.00 promotion of two bags and a grinder and was charged $34.00 on 3-19-07. I never received the complete promotion. Since then the company has charged me twice for $36.95 on [protected] and [protected].
That's a total of $107.90. I received to packages from them last week alone unrequested. I am thoroughly disgusted by their unethical practices.
This company says their hours are 10-6PM EST and yet they never answer their phone no matter what time I have called (5 times so far). I am receiving UPS bags and bags sent from Evanston, IL and I never ordered anything from them and I don't even drink coffee.
Is anyone else getting this treatment? Solutions?
Thanks,
Dan.
I have an unauthorized charge on my credit card from Seattle coffee direct for 34.00. my credit card company is removing the charge from my bill, but i thought someone should know about this company.
Like others on here, I have have nothing good to say about this company. After receiving my grinder and two small bags of coffee for 34.00, two weeks later I was charged another 39.00. I called the company and got through to an operator and she said they sometimes ship more frequently than every 4 weeks. I asked to cancel my plan and she said I could not until I received four bags of coffee and the first two do not count. I just received in the mail one 12 oz. bag of coffee and I am thinking this was what I was charged 39.00 for. UNBELIEVABLE! I just called my bank and cancelled the card that I used for my order. It will create a lot of work and hassle for me, but I am not willing to lose 40 bucks every two weeks for a 12 oz. bag of mediocre coffee.
Simple. Do not use this company. They will charge you and charge you until your card is maxed out! Call your Credit Card Company quick and stop the charges!
Absolutely! They are charging for crappy coffee and I have to call between their hours to stop the shipments!
I want to give a give THANKS to everyone else who provided information about their problems with this company. I too signed on through their ad that said it was $9 for the coffee and coffee grinder, thinking this is a great deal (April 24th), BUT today I received that first shipment AND when checking my online bank statement found they have already billed me for another month. Then when I went to their website their is no online method for cancelling and no method of e-mailing them (so that I would have a record of my request). Finally, I found the information others have posted about their experiences with this company.
I was unable to reach my bank to report this as a fraudulent transaction (It is Saturday night.) But, I was able to report my card as lost or stolen through the automated system so at least I won't have any more transactions going through until the bank and I get this squared away.
Again, to everyone who reported this - thank you, thank you, thank you!
Well I too got suckered into this and when I got my Credit Card Statement was in shock...well I tried to call this afternoon and got a voice mail, I left a message and then got on this site, well I panicked and cancelled my credit card, and then Seattle Coffee called me back and I cancelled, but I'm glad I did cancel this card because I wouldn't trust them, I haven't had the coffee but I to have a Gevalia account and the coffee is great and the customer service is also...
I am relieved to find out I am not the only one that was bilked by this company. Great offer, $9 for two bags of coffee and a grinder. But they fail to mention that they are taking $34 from you. There is no initial statement telling us that we must pay $25 to join their lousy club or whatever you would like to refer to them as. Now they seem to be getting away with continuing to charge people for unauthorized products. I am searching for an answer to stop this company from preying on others. Their coffee is not anything to get excited about. DO NOT GET SUCKERED BY THESE PEOPLE.
Ordered Coffee and a coffee grinder for $9. Was charged $34. Received a monthly shipment, sent it back 2 month ago. Still have not received the credit.
I also have been ripped off by this company. When I tried and call to get them to stop shipments I got put on hold for over an hour both times! What kind of company that does its business online, doesn't even have an EMAIL address to contact? I'll tell you what kind of company... A bunch of damn scammers.
All I can do is try and keep contacting them, but if they do not respond soon, I'm going to call my credit card company to have them dispute these charges.
I also signed up for $9 coffee was charged $34. I ordered on 5/18 - got my cc bill on 5/29 - called to voice objection to charge on 6/7 and the next shipment had already been sent! I am apparently signed up in a club for shipments every 2 weeks! I was told that part of that 34.00 was a membership fee - but now it ends up it is 2 bags @ $9 ea = 18 and she said it was a $25 SHIPPING FEE!
I have reported to the BBB Bureau (the company listed for the domain of (seattlecoffeedirect.com OR coffeeroastersdirect.com) is PEEL, INC - which is listed in the BBB for a Chicago based company.
The promotion was to do a survey and choose one of the products offered at a reduced price. I chose the coffee and grinder for 9.00 but it came with no receipt and not a word of more coffee and what it would cost then i got more coffee i did not order then i got my credit Card bill 34.90 and then 36.95 both charged in less than two weeks apart. Man i don't drink coffee like that and not for those prices so I'm sending that back to them asap.
Georgia Bowie.
Seattle coffee direct has to be the biggest rip off merchants ever! Not only due id they empty my bank account leaving it in the red and incurring charges, but they took all my money I was saving for a wreath for my sister who died suddenly.
This company is a disgrace & I WILL be seeking legal action!
I took a survey on line to receive a free coffee grinder. It showed up with two bags of coffee. Then two more bags of coffee showed up a week later. They charged me $34.00 for the FREE coffee grinder, and then an additional $36.95 for the two extra bags of coffee.
I bought this coffee and the grinder for $9.99 as per their advertisement. But they charged me on my credit card 34.90 and then 36.95. While ordering they did not send any order receipt, not any order confirmation or any email response as it used be with any online purchase. So i was not even knowing that the order went threw. Did anybody get the full refund by returning the stuff ? Has anybody taken any legal steps to them?
I too was hooked by this so called company. Had to cancel my card told my bank what they did. Thanks to them they stopped these crooks from taking any more money out of my account.and put the money back. May seattle coffee direct get what they have coming.
I signed up for a (free) coffee grinder with coffee $34.00. With the understanding that it would be shipped once a month. I thought I would have time to decided if I wanted to continue before the next shipment was sent. My account was debited on 2/02/07 @ $34.00, 2/12/07 @$36.95, 2/27/07 @ $36.95 . I managed to opt out on 3/12/07 and on 3/14/07 one more was debited from my account @ 36.95. Each Bag of coffee was shipped seperately so I sent back 6 bags of coffee and so far my account was credited only 1bag @ $14.50 on 3/19/07. As a result of these debits to my account with out my consent I was also charged by my bank $29.00 x 3 for a total of $87.00 in overdraft charges. This is a scam and I haven't been able to get anyone to talk to me. Is there anything I can do. Terri Murphy.
I received about $100 worth of Seattle Coffee Direct coffee unsolicited, returned it in the bags provided, was billed anyhow and now the company wants "signed proof of return." A total rip-off. I'm complaining to Better Business.
I completed a survey for the Cuisinart Coffee Grinder and two free bags of coffee. Apparently, there is some "click here for details" page which states that the grinder and coffee is $9 but shipping is $25.00! What company are they using for shipping that charges $25.00? Then within six days I was charged another $38.95 for more coffee that I did not want!
I called and left a message at [protected]. Natalie called me back and was very rude! She told me to mark the package that is currently on its way to me as a return to sender. When they receive the coffee back they will credit my account $38.95. Natalie, then hung up on me! I called back and asked for a supervisor and spoke to Shalonda. She was kinda rude too but did agree to credit me $7.66 for the unopened bag of coffee that I have from the first shipment and told me not to send it back. So, at least I got my account canceled and will get a credit for the $38.95 plus another $7.66. How can companies like this operate?
In the meantime, I have called my bank and canceled that account just to be safe.
DO NOT ORDER COFFEE FROM THIS COMPANY EVER!
No products have been accepted by me. Returned USPS. SEATTLE COFFEE DIRECT was notified immediately, to not send ANY products. Any products sent... were NOT accepted! And returned USPS.
I have contacted this company---and no further packages have arrived.
BUT --- I was BILLED !
6/6/2007 $34.00
6/14/2007 $36.95
July/2007 (?)
I did the same thing through a survey company as everyone else. They promised a coffee grinder and two bags of coffee. The same day $34.00 was charged to my account. I have been trying to call them and each time I get a recording talking about their hours and to leave a message. This is total BS. I am going to have to change my bank account information. Like an idiot I used my bank card because I do not have a credit card. I thank everyone who posted their complaint because I would have thought I was alone on this. Anybody who sees this should take heed and steer clear of this company. If anyone reads this has a suggestion of how to get back at this company and it has worked, feel free to contact me by e-mail.
Thanks.
My first agreement was to try their coffee for a 9 dollar charge. I received a 34 dollar charge. The next thing I know I'm receiving a 38.95 charge for a product that was returned. I also called the company and told them to cancel my account, I did not want any further orders or charges. I still have the charge on my card. I will contact the BBB regarding this company. They should be sued.
Add me to the long list of people who've been ripped off by this unscrupulous company and its "$9 introductory deal." After charging me $34 for this $9 rip-off, Seattle Direct followed up just 10 days later by sending off another two packets of coffee and charging me $38.95.
Is anybody going to do anything about this scam?
Just got off the phone with their "customer service" and was told if I return their products, they'll issue a refund. But I've read the other complaints and don't want to be ripped off twice by sending back the coffee then never hearing from them again. At least I'll end up with badly roasted coffee and a cheap grinder for my $72.
Well, I too have been taken to the cleaners by this company.
I do, however, have an email address for them. I got it by asking them to email me my password.
The email address is info@coffeeroastersdirect.com.
I have called both numbers they have on record. During business hours it is not answered. After hours I get a voice mail. I have left messages on both of them. We'll see what happens.
I know the date and times of both calls and have kept a copy of the email I received from them and the email I sent.
The coffee is absolutely terrible by the way. Save yourself time, aggravation and money and say NO to this offer loudly.
Dispute the charges at your bank, Cancel your card or be prepared to get more charges on it, write all places on the web to complain, send complaint to www.chicago.bbb.org, the chicago better business bureau, parent company Peel, Inc. See if they really have an office, a warehouse, picket it, jam their fax lines, do whatever we can to shut this bogus place down &... don't drink their coffee.
Cancel all your cards that this company has, find out where they are & picket them, find out where their offices are & warehouse is, write the better business bureau at www.chicago.bbb.org. Get rid of this company NOW!
If you take any on line surveys & an offer to get Seattle Coffee Direct comes up, or their other name is Coffee Roasters Direct, DON'T ORDER! They advertise $9.00 a month, then charge a one time fee that is not disclosed for $25.00, then, even before you get your shipment, they are charging your card again for $38.95 within 6 days, not the monthly as advertised. BEWARE & DON'T ORDER, CANCEL YOUR CARD OR THEY WILL KEEP CHARGING IT, THEN COMPLAIN AT CHICAGO BETTER BUSINESS BUREAU AT www.chicago.bbb.org. Their parent company is PEEL. INC. at 990 Grove St. , Evanston, Il, [protected]. I don't know who is in charge, but the Better Business Bureau will only forward your info to them, so far they are incompetent to shut them down, even for false advertising, fraudulent charges, so jam their fax lines, phone lines with complaints, too bad we could not picket them if they are real. Or more, pay a little visit in person. Seems like with all the complaints on line, the Chicago BBB is incompetent.
For the past couple of years we continue to receive scathing phone calls & flaming emails regarding the mistaken identity between our company Seattle Gourmet Coffee & SEATTLE COFFEE DIRECT. I must go on the record & say that we are not SEATTLE COFFEE DIRECT, nor are we connected in any way. We are coffee roasters located in Seattle, whereas they are not coffee roasters & not located in Seattle. They are located somewhere in Illinois. Our company does not promote coffee in this way, nor do we conduct questionable business practices like that. Not only have we lost business due to the unethical practices by this company, but our reputation has taken a hit after being a well branded name on the internet for over 12 years. I has reached the point to where we had to post a warning on our site to inform everyone that we are not SEATTLE COFFEE DIRECT. So please if you would like to order from an honest company feel free to view our site, & pass the word on to others that we are Seattle Gourmet Coffee & not SEATTLE COFFEE DIRECT.
Thank you.
Ahhh... yes, I signed up for the $9.99 2 lbs of coffee and free grinder and found a $34.00 charge on my credit card, then another charge not 2 weeks later for $38.00. I quickly looked into this and saw all of your emails - sounds like this company is very good at scamming. I spoke with "Kelly" today and she assured me she would refund me the last charge and to put the unopened coffee package back in the mail with " Return to Sender" written on it. She also assured me she has deleted my account so no further charges can be made. However, I am still calling my credit card company to block anything from these people, thanks to someone else's email.
Ordered coffee online for $9.95 with "free" coffee mill. Now received unsolicited bag of coffee and they've charged my checking account $38.95. DO NOT BUY FROM THIS COMPANY!
A promise of 2 bags of coffee and a quality coffee grinder for $9 with a commitment of 2 bags of coffee delivered to my door, for $9.95 a month?!? I ADORE a good cup of joe! Sign me up! A few days later... a shipment of two bags of coffee and a worthless coffee grinder with no receipt. A charge of $34 to my checking account. 7 days later, a charge of $38. 75 with no related product delivered. 11 days later, ANOTHER charge of $38.75 with no product delivered. I go online to cancel my subscription, but they say "your account could not be found" (although my credit card info is fiercely protected by these fine business folk who are charging it less then every two weeks!). I try to call and only get voice recordings with no returned call. I have already filed a complaint with the Better Business Bureau's online complaint system and I recommend others do the same. These are unfair and unethical business practices. Even a class action lawsuit is warranted. These kinds of online shenanigans are disgusting and criminal. I advise people to keep meticulous notes of their encounters with this business.
I have now been charge 3 months for coffee I have not ordered! This is fraud not matter how you look at it!
Before I okeyed the debit card, I read the fact that it was 36.00 dollars so I went back and erased my information, plus they said the card had been denied. Today my bank sent me an over draft for not 1 but 2 charges for $38.95, plus $27.00 x2. I am livid what can be done...
I canceled this order over 3 mos. ago and I am still getting bags and bags of coffee @ $36.95 a whack. They now owe me $285.65 for coffee orders I never wanted. Any idea on how to get your money back? Do you just call your bank and have them investigate and then stop future billing? They have billed me so often they have sent me into overdraft on numerous occasions. Crooks - I agree!
Total rip-off company. I too signed up for $9.00 starter shipment, was charged $34.68 on 5/25. On 6/4 I rec'd 2nd shipment for 2 - 12 oz. bags for $36.95. Once I got my credit card bill I sent everything back, insured and registered. Rec'd the credit for the 1st shipment for 5/25 on 7/2, the second shipment WHICH WAS IN THE SAME BOX RETURNED WITH THE FIRST SHIPMENT was credited 7/23. FOR EACH CREDIT I HAD TO CALL! The 3rd shipment was received on 6/19 for another $36.95. I called on 8/14 and was told they just received it back BUT I SENT IT BACK 'REFUSED - RETURNED TO SENDER". I received only $25.95 credit on that shipment, which made another phone call today 9/12/07 and was told they would credit the other $11.00. SOOOOOO FOR ALMOST 4 MONTHS THEY HAVE BEEN USING MY MONEY! BEWARE!
I don't like the coffee that you sent to me at 1404 Sandhill rd. 7 las vegas nv 89110. And my account has been charged for 39.00 several times. I do expect this to be credited back into my account. I am sending the grinder back as soon as I can get to the post office. Nellie Bean trillionair2b@aol.com I have already sent two other packages back. Which I didn't order in the first place!
I had the same problem... Tried getting a refund for over a month. Then I told them that I had our phone calls recorded and I had the refund within 3 days. All 3 shipments fully refunded, try it out, good luck!
Signed up to try their coffee. Paged stated $9 for starter kit.
When balancing check book I noticed they took out $34, which was not on my final page of the web. Was very disappointed in the fact that the company is not clear on charges and that they are hidden as to where you have to search for the add. charges.
Contacted the company. They already shipped product out. Customer service stated, they would refund my card and to send the products back (refuse delivery). Went through the same problem before with another company and company stated they never received product and I was out $70. Hope my account is credited sooner than 6wks. Will update as to when product was returned and card credited. Make sure companies don't have hidden fees before you follow through.
This company ripped me off! Their FREE coffee grinder and 2 bags of coffee beans for $9.00 is actually #34.00. They add a SMALL ONE TIME FEE OF $25.OO!
My total today is:
Sept 18 $34.00 FREE GRINDER!
Sept 27 $38.95 2-12 OZ BAGS OF COFFEE
SO, IT HAS COST ME $72.95 FOR 4 12 OUNCE BAGS OF COFFEE! That's just under $19.00 per 12 oz!
This company needs to be stopped!
