Southeast Toyota Finance scam and cheating

When you get the car back you will take it to a auction sell it out right and lose money because my son won't pay any more on the bank loan and he has nothing so you can't get blood out of a turnip. However if you would give a young man who served his country a break we were willing to catch him up on payments and see that they were paid on time in the future so you would have gotten all your money and showed a little appreciate for his having put his life on the line for you.

Southeast Toyota Finance excessive wear and use charges

My husband and I called setf and got a payoff amount in June 2008 and then turned our Tundra in on June 20th to Autoway Toyota. We called setf and told them that we had indeed turned in the Tundra and keys and mailed them the payoff amount that they had given us.

In August, we were still being mailed bills. We went back to the dealership who had never called setf to pick the Tundra. We insisted that they call. Now we were being charged for a dead battery (excessive wear and use charges) because the vehicle sat for two months.

Both the dealership and setf were informed that the Tundra and keys were turned in and setf cashed the payoff check June 25th, 2008.
When we got calls from setf about paying the disposition fee, we were told different things from what a rep from a different department told us. When we asked to talk to a certain rep we were told that we were not allowed to.
They are very disorganized and one rep tells you one thing and another rep tells you something else. I have never had such bad customer service in my life. This was our third lease with setf so we were very shocked to be treated this way.
I think we deserve better customer service than that Toyota. Do you want to retain repeat customers or not?

I agree with Marcia. I bought a Rav 4 2008 in August of this year. I leased it with Southeast Toyota never will I lease with them again. I called them in October telling them my payment would be a little late. There was no problem. At least thats what they said. But they kept insisting to do it over the phone. I said no. But then the day it was due, and a few days after that. They were calling my work 5-6 times a day. And leaving a voice mail on my phone. I called and told them to quit calling my job. It will be in the mail. And they are the nastiest bunch in customer service I ever dealt with. And half of them I cannot understand. This month I got my car refinanced with my credit union and lowered the payments.

My daughter and her husband purchased a auto from Southeast Toyota. (They knew NOTHING about buying an automobile. My daughter had a brain injury and these people took advantage of them, they traded in a truck and the toyota people did not even give them the payoff. Toyota took the truck and less it out of the sale that they were doing and then added it back in. Also we don't see what the interest rate is on the paperwork. I faxed a letter to them about what happen and I never heard from them. BE WARE.

Southeast Toyota Finance end of lease

We leased a Toyota Camary for our Daughter.
At the end of the lease, we recieved a payoff amount.
Our daughter and Son in law purchased the veichcle,
from Southeast Toyota. They made their August payment
on the new loan.
We then recieve a bill for August with a late fee, and
to please make our September payment. After several phone calls, They told me it was interest and late fees! I guess
I will make Payment number 49 of 48 and hope it
goes away.

Southeast Toyota Finance financing rip-off

If you are financing a vehicle through Southeast Toyota Finance be careful because sometimes they don't send your monthly statement. Afterwards they try to convince you to pay over the phone, which they charge a fee. When in the beginning, they should have just sent a bill like everybody does. Imagine how many they can rip-off that way...

We were told exactly the same thing about refinancing at a lower rate after 6 months, however our credit was so bad that we received a letter denying our request and wantied the truck returned, We did this and was told by the local dealer here if we put have of the price of the tundra down he could push it through with lower financing in 6 months, We brought back to the dealer over 22.000 us dollars and after trying to change the contract . we found many add ons and ine document for the extended warranty with our name forgwd by someone, it has been 2 years now and they will not call or speak on rgw subject of lowereinf our 15 percent rate, so our only option is to continue and hope enough people will complain that a class action lawsuit will be brought. They are dishonest and unwilling to look at anything. Good luck everyone

When I first got my car through Southeast Toyota, I never financed a car before. My credit wasn't great, but I didn't have any credit cards, repos, or evictions. I need up with a high monthly payment. Southeast Toyota wanted to finance the car for the same price the car was worth. In the end I would have paid for 2 cars at that price. I was told in 6 months I could refinance at a cheaper price. The first bill went to the wrong address, I had to call to find out that I would be late if I send the money right away. 6 months late, I couldn't refinance and I end up late almost every month or 2. I was sick a few times and out of work during the summer months. I told them: they worked with me by calling my house 2 and 3 times a day asking the same questions. I end up with a prepaid cell phone(gave it to them)...when out of town to find work. I called later to find out that they are looking for my car, because my home phone is off. I end up sending them little money at a time, but I couldn't get in writing that the repo is cancelled. I am about to get caught up, but I still can't get in writing that they will cancel the repo. They want me to pay what I owe, late fees, and for the repo charges. I am already getting rip off. Never again.

I have cancer and have just went back to work. I am three payments behind. I cant get any help from then at all. They tell me to borrow the money to pay them. I cant borrow the money. If O would still be in the same shape. A company this large needs to work with people.

Southeast Toyota Finance I hate these people

First they ripped me off for the lease itself, with all the add-ons, but then they lovingly added charges at the end of the lease.

OK, I should have been more careful when I signed the stupid contract, but we'd been there for hours (one of the dealerships famous tricks of the trade! - wearing out the customer so he's just too exhausted to check everything - he just wants to get out of there with a car) and I'd understood (wrongly, apparently) that as a contract, I had 3 days to cancel.

I kept the car up as agreed, and kept it garaged, but apparently they expected to get a new car back, rather than a 4-year-old with 60, 000 miles.

The so-and-so's added excessive wear and tear: the regular dings and scratches that occur in parking lots. Plus the 'disposition fee', it came to an additional $561!

Southeast Toyota Finance be careful

I will not use them again after my horrible experience. But when you have "Finance" in your name...profit is the game. People appear to be expendable. I warn you all to be very careful. I receive calls from one number that knows all that is going on with account and another number shows up that doesn't. One rep. tells you an amount to pay and another says something different. Nothing in writing but needs money ASAP. Then the wrong move and they take your car. Someone needs to stop them. I had a rep. yell at me one night and threaten to come take my car after I fell upon hard times. When you get close to paying your car off...be careful.

Hello,

My name is Samuel Nichols and my account number is [protected].

I was charged a late fee in the month of June even though I sent a payment. I made a double payment in July and sent a note explaining that I did send the June payment and now I'm being hit with a late charge. Does this seem fair to you?

I wish I had read this post before I financed with SETF...what a nightmare. I could copy and paste the original poster's experience into my own...and that was 9 years ago for him/her. So, in 9 years they have not gotten any better. This is 2017 and they are still pulling the same games with people. The dealership was great, SETF will take your payoff money and take their time. I was promised a quick (within 24 hours) release of the lien. Here we are over 1 week later and they have not released the lien (after cashing my bank check). I cannot sell the car until I get the lien released.
Stay away from SETF. They will not help you. They will delete your online access as soon as you pay the loan off (I paid off early), and when you call the customer service people will not care to help you.

I purchased a car in 2005 with a dealership in my hometown. The car was financed with Southeast Toyota and I paid it off within two years. After it was paid off, Southeast Toyota sent me my title as well as a check for an over payment. Months later I was notified that I owed them a car payment for some reason. How is that possible when I paid the car off within two years and I was sent the title to the car. They have reported me to the credit bureau and I have been disputing with them for several years. They will not delete it from my credit report. This error has affected my credit score. I'm about to hire an attorney and contact the president of the company for this mistake. It is obvious that Southeast Toyota doesn't want to admit to making a mistake.

I bought my car in August. I ended up being 3 months late on my car payment, but in the one month the it was late, SETF did NOT take a full payment out of my bank account. i thought that it was okay and was planning on paying the payment at a later date which was indicated. They ended up repossessing it! My car has been hit four times and they are wanting me to pay off the whole thing! they want 18, 464 when my car is only valued at a little over 16, 000. i have spoke with five people, all of whom have been so very, very RUDE. I EVEN HAD ON HANG UP ON ME WHILE I WAS TALKING! i asked the supervisor who made the decision why i just couldn't pay the interest off and the past due because i had evidence of me being in the hospital and being in internship and having to care for my mom and she told me there are plenty others like u but I'm not going to do that. and hung up. i called back to ask for her supervisor and she told me no she was the highest person which was not true and she made a decision in ten mins! she tried to say that they called me, but they did not and have not called me!

I will be contacting the state commissioners or someone above her to see about my car.

I spoke with J. Murray and she is trying to assist me. She also said she's speaking with the Title department supervisor to look into sending titles with tracking. I don't have my title yet, so I'm not happy yet, but I will say that at least they are responsive.

Background: When I originally bought my car it was titled in South Carolina. Recently I moved to Georgia.

I paid off my car in December and called Southeast Toyota Finance and they said they would send me my title in around 15 business days. After over a month, I still hadn't received my title, so I called them again. In the second call, they said they sent me my title but would also send me a release of lien letter and that I could take it to the DMV. I did receive the release of lien, but the title never arrived. When I went to the DMV, they told me the title was not on file in Georgia, and that I would need the original title.

I made a third call checking on the title. This time, the customer service agent cut me off while I gave her the history and said something along the lines of, "Oh, sometimes we get the title late. It looks like we just got your title. I'll expedite it to you." I thanked her, and a week later I received a black and white photocopy of the title. I called the DMV to ask if that was sufficient to register my car in Georgia, and they said I needed an original title.

I made another call today to SETF and this time the customer service rep said that they do not have the original title and that it was sent in December. I asked how I could get a proper duplicate title and she said that SETF could not help me - that I would have to get it from South Carolina.

On top of all the time I've already wasted on calls and trips to the DMV, now I have to spend time and money to request a duplicate title from South Carolina. This is such a hassle.

If they had good customer service, they would do two things:

1. Send original titles with a tracking label. I asked the last customer rep if they tracked their mail or if they just used standard USPS mail. She answered that it was just standard USPS. No tracking.

2. Take care of this for me! I've wasted enough time. Sure, it's only $50 for an expedited duplicate title from SC, but that's $50 out of my own pocket because of a failure on the part of SETF.

I wish I had read this before I financed my auto last year! Although I have had no problems up until now...I had an accident last June and finally got my diminished value check, payable to my husband and World Omni because they have a vested interest ... they are supposed to endorse the check and return to me, however, they want to apply the money to the rear of my contract...My insurance company said she had never heard of a company doing such a thing as the money is mine..I told them no and they are supposed to get back to me. we will see what the outcome is.

I was initially thrilled to be financed through Toyota; my experience at the dealership was wonderful (Toyota of Hollywood). But, my husband and i had a loss of job and consequent financial issues. Southeastern Toyota Finance repossessed my van from my job with three baby seats in the back. They asked if I could make the payment, I said yes, and they took the van anyways, while I was on the phone BEGGING them to take the money. BUYER BEWARE. DO NOT FINANCE THROUGH THEM. This company is disgustingly sinister. We bought another car through HERTZ CAR SALES. IT WAS AN AMAZING EXPERIENCE. From start to finish, Hertz was professional and kind. We are so happy!

I have successfully financed cars with over 10 different banks and credit unions over 40 years and have never experienced the torment and torture afforded by these unethical, unprofessional, irresponsible human beings. Won't let you pay your payments, no matter how hard you fight to. Won't send title after you pay off the car. Rude, digusting. I can't understand how people who work their aren't ashamed to go to work every day. I always pay my bills on time and have an 820 credit score and these monsters almost ruined it. I am now printing all of these complaints and leaving them in my three clinic waiting rooms for over three thousand patients to read. Let the truth be heard. Love my car, but will never buy at Toyota Dealer again. Bring on the auction.
