Starpoint Resorts/Sapphire review: Timeshare

We entered into a timeshare agreement with Starpoint Resorts on 4/16/2023. On that day we attended a fantastic presentation of all the wonderful things Sapphire/Starpoint Resorts timeshare had to offer. The salesmen exaggerated the timeshare and provided me and my husband with untruthful information to try to bribe us into signing a contract. We were put in a room that had numerous tables of other people that watched the presentation. Each table had a couple representatives that pressured you into purchasing the timeshare. I felt like you were being interrogated! They auctioned off how the first couple people to sign would get a Hawaii vacation all expenses paid. When we kept saying that we did not want to do the timeshare the salesman got an additional sales representative (higher up the chain businessman) to come to the table and attempt to bribe you into the contract. They pushed untruthful information regarding what the timeshare includes and how much money we would save. The salesmen kept pushing us to sign with statements such as “you don’t sign now you won’t get the FREE trip to Hawaii”. Next thing you know there is 4 people from the company standing over us pressuring us to purchase the timeshare & many promises of what the timeshare includes. By that time the 2 Hawaii trips were already accounted for since more than 2 people had already been pressured and caved into signing the contract faster than us. We were told that even though those trips had already been accounted for, if we signed within 2 mins that they will also give us the FREE Hawaii trip. We were assured that if we were not happy with our ownership, we could sell it back to the company. Once giving the okay to what we were led to believe was a valuable investment, we were put in a room with a lady that had what appeared to be the contract on her computer screen. The lady would summarize in a sentence or two what the page stated and then she would hit enter on her keyboard and a typed version of our name would appear. The lady would then go to the next page of the contract and the same thing. We never once having to sign our name physically on the contract and then we were told that the contract would be emailed. We were given tickets for dinner and a “free” hotel stay for sitting through the presentation. (hotel stay was not free by any means) We were told that the time share would be available to our children, friends, and other family members for use anytime, and that we did not need to be present for friends/family to utilize the timeshare. We were told this membership would be the cheapest and most flexible way for us to vacation since we would be able to travel anywhere at any time for a very small fraction of the price. When returning home from vacation we received the information for the “free” Hawaii trip for signing up for the timeshare (the trip that the salesman pushed and stated numerous times that the “free” Hawaii trip was about equivalent to the total amount we would invest in the timeshare). We also received the “free” hotel stay for sitting through the presentation both items not being free. There were fees & many other charges that had to be paid up front before being able to book, not to mention lots of restrictions. This then raised a red flag to look for the contract they were going to send to our email. After looking at the contract there were many many things that were not as promised. (It was like a jewelry clerk selling this beautiful 2 carat diamond white gold ring for thousands of dollars and then when you go to pick up the ring the clerk handing you a tiny plastic quarter machine ring). We looked at the website that was provided and we found out pretty quickly this timeshare was not what we were promised. Vacationing was not extremely flexible like we were promised, resort fees were not included like we were promised, etc.. We contacted the company at the # provided and was told that it was past 3 days from the time that we signed the contract. (again, let me remind you, we did not sign the contract, our names were input into the contract by a lady behind the desk) We then received a letter stating that we owed over $800 that is due within 30days which was in addition to $900 that they had already withdrew from our acct. This was not what we had agreed upon. On May 30th we mailed a certified letter to Starpoint Resort Group stating for them to cancel our contract & remove us from further liability for fees associated with the timeshare. We requested the $900 be returned and requested written confirmation and a response back within 14 days. We never received a letter; however they have continued to attempt to withdraw large amounts of money out of my bank acct. & contacted numerous people in our family asking them if they know who we are and to relate a message to us “we will not rescind the contract and they better use it because they are going to get charged for it either way”. We keep receiving letters saying that we need to pay ridiculous amounts of money and now they have reported that we owe thousands of dollars to the credit bureaus &it shows negatively on our credit. We receive dozens of phone calls a day between Starpoint Resort and their collection agency demanding money. They have resorted to making false telephone numbers w/ our area code (920) to contact us. We have not used this timeshare one single time, we have not even used the “free” hotel stay that we were promised or the “free” Hawaii vacation because of the lack of honesty through this company. Again, never used the timeshare and never used their “free” gifts aside from the dinner that was offered from attending the presentation. Our attempts to contact this company to resolve these issues & get the timeshare rescinded have been unsuccessful. Our complaints have been completely ignored and the only form of written communication they provide us with is a new bill with a higher balance that cannot be explained. We were pressured and misled into this contract with Starpoint through Sapphires. Broken promises, lack of information was provided by the company for terms of the contract, no hard copy of the contract, we were never told we had 3 days to cancel or we were stuck in the contract. Starpoint lied and misrepresented the timeshare, they made false promises and then pressured and rushed us through the process. We demand our contract with Starpoint Resorts be rescinded and we want to be refunded the $900 this company withdrew from our acct. for this scam. These untruthful and interrogating sales tactics should be illegal.
