I attempted to return defective software to the store and was told I could only exchange the software for an exact duplicate, which they didn't have. The only way to exchange it was to drive to another Target store. The software was defective when purchased. I had my original receipt.
There is no 'exchange for same item' policy posted in their software department. Even if this policy was posted it is not legal according to the Uniform Commercial Code (federal regulation).
I will never again purchase software, CDs, DVDs, or electronic goods at any Target stores. In fact, I will not make any purchases at Target if I can buy the merchandise at Wal Mart.

unauthorized charges
The short and simple: Someone got a hold of my bank card and used it to make a bunch of purchases. My bank canceled the card but not before a purchase was made on Target.com for $250. I called them today, the very same day of the transaction hoping to stop the shipment and make it easier to get my money back. No one could help me. They claim to not I called back later thinking maybe I had just got a rookie, nope. After a 15 minute phone call with an Indian accented woman who couldn't understand that I wasn't trying to return something I had to give up and let the order ship. I'll let the police handle it and just hope I can get my money back. Thanks for nothing Target.

ghd hair straightener
I purchased a GHD hair straightener from http://www.target-ghd.com
The product arrived - and broke approximately 2 months later. I contacted the company and they advised that I could return the product as it was under warranty and they would send me a replacement product .
On the 22 July 2008 I posted the item as described by them. I have since emailed them numerous times as I have not recieved a replacement GHD. They have not responded to any of my emails.
I then attempted to get the GHD repaired indepently - to be advised that the product I have bought was a fake.
Again i have had the same problem after a couple of months my straightners broke too with them just not heating up. After sending them back to GHD they informed me that they were fake with little chance of me seeing my money again.
I have experienced the same problem, i sent my straightners off to have them repaired and i was told they were fake.
GHD told me to take this further and get my money back.
faulty merchandise
Last Halloween I purchased two fog machines. It was too late in the year for us to redo the Halloween Decorations so we just put them away until this year. We opened them, set them up, only to find out that neither of them worked. My neighbor had the same problem with the two he purchased. I called the store manager Joann and she refused to take them back or exchange them (they are selling the same machine this year) and gave me the number for customer service. Needless to say THEIR CUSTOMER SERVICE REPS ARE IN INDIA AND BARELY SPEAK OR UNDERSTAND ENGLISH. I filed a complaint with the Better Business Bureau and just received a phone call from their coroporate office. A "Jeffery" informed me that they will only return them within 90 with a receipt. Be careful when purchasing merchandise from them. If you do not have a receipt or if you do not have the original packaging, and if the item doesn't break within 90 days, THEY DO NOT BACK THEIR MERCHANDISE.
Its not their fault you didnt read the return policy. It dosent make THEM a bad company, it just makes you the typical customer with ALWAYS something to complain about.
second time burned
After being duped into buying the "hands free" can opener sold to us by a as seen on tv store and dealing with it never working correctly we decided to buy the "One Touch" I had purchased one for my Mother and she loves it so my Partner and I decided we wanted one too..we found one in Target..I should have known something was up we could not find any instructions and felt maybe they were left out..so we put some batteries in and it sounded funny..thinking maybe the batteries were old we replaced them and it seemed to work better..3 months later it started sounding like it did when we first bought it..then it hit me we bought a "One Touch" someone else had returned as defective and instead of tossing it they simply replaced it in the package and resold it..this is the reason there was no instructions! Now here is is one week past the date when we can get a exchange or refund and we are stuck with a second can opener sold to us despite the knowledge it is defective..we will never buy anything like this from Target again and we may never do business with them ever!

hiring young but not older people
I have placed a application with this Compang and reccieved a e-mail that they where not hiring. That has been a week. Today I went to Target and there was a sign saying now hiring. I don't know why they would not even speak to me person to person. I have been in retail almost 17 years and have worked in many departments. I have a complete resume bu no one is looking at that. I am very upset. My husband passed away 2 years ago and I am trying to get back to work. I feel that they are not looking at me because of my age. Believe me I could work circles around anyone. I want, no I NEED a job. Times are tough but when they have opening and do not even speark to people well it stinks.
I hope someone who reads this can help me understand the reason behind this policy.

I live in the Mesquite, Texas area, and shop at the local Target store. Most of the time your products are of high quality, but I bought an area rug ( approx. 8x10) costing around $175.00 on sale at the Mesquite store last spring (2010), and the thing is falling apart! It is a retangle-shaped braided rug, and the colors were beautiful; however, the colors have started to fade, and there are loose strings coming out of the braids all over the rug. At this rate, the rug will not last another year. It has also streached out of shape, and has a tendency to "bunch up" (this could be a fall hazzard). This is not happening because of excessive wear; only normal wear-and-tear of a household of two people. Please let me know if there is any kind of guarantee of this product, and thank you for hearing me out.

The store which you applied to may not have a true opening. They may have forgotten to update their employment kiosk signs. Target accepts applications year round whether they are hiring or not. If you applied online, it also depends on what selections you made when you applied. I would recommend going to the store and submitting an application in person from the hiring kiosk. Provided you have the availability to work when they need you, when they have an open position they will call and you will go through a set of interviews. Locally, our Target has quite a bit of older employees. One lady whom always helps me out when I buy clothes/jewelry just celebrated her 86th birthday. She and her daughter both work at Target. I don't think you were being intentionally discriminated against. Times are tough, most retailers are not hiring.

This complaint spans several weeks.
My employer is closing, and Target sent a representative to talk to us about going there when the store closes.
The rep they sent was the head of thier Human Rescources department. They had arranged a "job fair" in our store to tell us about working at Target, pay, and jobs available. She came totally unprepared and had no information to give out - keep in mind this meeting was planned WEEKS in advance.
Despite that, I filled out an in-store application anyway. Several days later, another HR worker called my home and asked me to come in to talk to them. When I came in, they made me wait for 15 minutes to get a hold of her; and all she had to say was that I needed to fill out an application (she couldn't have said that over the phone?). I told her I had filled an application out already - so she put me on hold for another 20 minutes to look for it. She came back on the line and told me my application wasn't finished and I needed to fill out the last part. I told her I had already filled out the 'entire' application - she put me on hold again to look for that! She returned and asked me to come to the office to fill out a paper version because they "lost" mine.
I filled out the paper applications and waited another half-hour for my first interview (1 of 3). After the interview I waited for the second one. Both interviews went very well and the interviewers (not HR employees) where very nice.
After interview number two, the HR girl told me that my third interview would be done by their head of security, but he wouldn't be back for a few days. I waited a week and called back - they corrected the original "few days" to "he's on vacation for two weeks".
After the two weeks I called back to talk to HR about scheduling the interview. The first four times I called, no one answered the phone at all. I kept trying and got an operator to answer twice. One of the times she transferred me to HR and HR just plain hung up! The second time, the operator (again, not HR dealing with it) told me that there where no openings in their interview schedule, but I could leave a message and they would call me back later.
I didn't feel the need to leave a message. If these people treat you like ### after offering you a job, how badly will they treat you when you actually work there?
I talked to my co-workers who had considered working there and ALL of them expressed similar experiences. HR had either been openly rude or simply avoided talking to them all together.

I am a former Senior Manager for Target and I agree that they do treat you like dirt. Even management is treated poorly, behind the scenes of course but very poorly never the less. I worked their for 5 months and could not stand the way they treated me. I have been in the Army for over 20 years serving my country the best I can. schwinn bicycle repair
My dad bought me a schwinn bicycle in 1964. The bike is still in out family and my father's great grandson is now riding the bike. This bike has never broken a spoke or needed any repairs and it cost about $20. I bought a schwinn at target in 2005 for $200. Withing 2 years of the purchase, the bike spokes have all broken because they are made from cheap pot metal. It lasted for a dozen rides and now it's ready for a land-fill. Target told me to bring them the bike for inspection in june of 2008. I gave them my receipt and they took the bike in for a repair (Replacement of the front and back wheel) after spending $90 on gas for 4 round trips to target, and wasting an entire summer, target told me to come pick up my bike 3 months later. No repairs were done. I ordered all the parts from schwinn and now i need to spend an additional $80 - $100 dollars for bike repair tools and parts. Target dropped the ball every step of the way. Today i spent 2 hours on the phone and spoke with 4 different customer service reps before i was told that target would not compensate me for all of their errors. I urge everyone to stop shopping at worst retail chain in america... Target!

My email to Target:I bought items- sub-total was $59.36 with $2.97 tax & $3.00 store coupon. Total was $62.33. After a $10.00 pharmacy gift card, I paid $52.33. I later returned the $24.89 item with the receipt. INSTEAD of a refund of this amount, I was given another stupid gift card and a credit of $16.14 to my credit card. The clerk was rude. She said the "computer" did it and she couldn't change it. I asked to speak to a manager and she said she was a manager. This is one of the reasons I rarely shop at Target even though the store is close to my home and work. I feel like you stole $10 of my refund and held it hostage. I am too busy to carry around and try to remember to redeem a gift card. I hate the things and I don't want to use them. I want an explanation and I want this garbage to stop. It's wrong.

This complaint is exactly right...I bought an item and never used it or even took it out of the box. When i finally had time to look at it I found out it was the wrong thing. I took the item, WITH the receipt, back to target, they told me the item was bought over 90 days ago and the receipt has expired. Who ever heard of such a stupid rule! So 89 days and all is OK but 91 days and forget it? I was even willing to work with them and accept a gift card but again they said "computer won't let me do it".
I can't understand how a store that is still selling this very item, I have a receipt & I'm willing to take a gift card, that I didn't want and should not have had to take, would not work with me. The customer service people were rude and uncaring.
I requested a manager and things just got worse. All she did was give me a [protected] number to call. I called and got no where with the customer service rep and then again the manager. Then I found out I was calling New Deli, India. How can anyone in India help me in Pennsylvania? This was just getting worse and I was not getting any answers.
So I waited a few days and tried again to return the item to the store with different customer service people on duty. This time WITHOUT the receipt, said it was a gift and I didn't want it. Without any problem at all the same computers worked and item was returned.
I learned my lesson! If you tell target the truth the computers don't work but if you tell them what they want to hear the computers work!
TARGET you need to STOP that 90 day expired receipt concept. If someone has a receipt and you have the item on your shelves there should be NO reason that item can not be returned. People need every dollar they work for these days and this is just robbery!
Shame on you...and I hope to see a change in store policy soon!

Target will not allow returns of any product that was purchased in a box and assembled, even with the receipt.
My brother purchased a tv stand for our mother who is in assisted living. He assembled the tv stand, but it was too short for her to use. The next day we returned it to Target and asked to exchange it for a taller one or get a refund. The response was, "you should have noticed the dimensions printed on the box before you bought it." They refused even a partial refund SINCE IT HAD BEEN ASSEMBLED. We mentioned that their policy should be posted. The supervisor on duty was not concerned and dismissed our request. Buyer beware! If you are not absolutely sure of the item, don't buy it from Target. You will not be allowed to return or exchange it. We will avoid this problem in the future by not buying from Target.

Wow! Might be that particular store. I've never had a problem returning or exchanging anything at Target. But then I never tried to return a completely assembled RTA furniture piece.
tv broken
Purchased TV from Target and it broken in the first six month. The TV just stopped working and will not turn on. I was told by target it needed to be addressed by the company and they can not do anything. The company told me to send the unit back with a check for $65.00 and they would fix or replace the unit. I may have been a fool the first time but not a second time. This will go to recycling and I will never shop at target again. I will never promote target for any reason. What a poor chose to sell this product.

What brand television was it? That'd be where the complaint belongs. Otherwise, if you'd have bought the television at Walmart or Bestbuy, would they be to blame for the defective manufacturing? Not likely.
lack of human resources training
I grew up in Minnesota where Target Corporation was a big deal. Their stores were clean, employees had a dress and conduct code. Yah their prices were higher than Walmart but you have less hassle of being mobbed and better quality.
My husband works for Target. He is very dedicated and works very hard even when he is pain from some of the work he has done. He has been through 4 managers and several district managers in 4 years. In his region, he has been there the longest. He volunteered to work overnights and even miss my birthday one year.
Okay...here is my problem. The department he works in is VERY UNETHICAL! His managers lack common sense and have no idea the basics of Human Resources. They treat their department like something they scrap off their shoe and even when the "Higher Ups" are very pleased with budget and performance, their managers always find a way to kick them down. Other departments are aware of these problems and have addressed the issue to them. But the structured system at Target has failed this department.
This specific department is having so many problems that their turnover rate is extremely high and their pay scale is very low. They can not retain employees for an extended period of them. They have even promised pay increases but once hired, they become non-existent. One manager has nickeled and dimed his department to try to be below budget, when his employees achieved this, he gave them a lower raise for their efforts and took a large bonus. I know that most of this is not unheard of but disheartening for a large structured company like Target Corporation that brags on its "Branding".
His manager has become so desperate to attack my husband that he has given him verbal warnings about missing Fridays and Mondays. My husband recently missed yesterday (Monday) due to an infection that began last Thursday! My husband was smart enough to produce a doctor's note for his Manager. My husband has earned his time off. Sickness is not predictable and my husband always makes sure he doesn't put his store in a bad position because of it.
Now that his Manager has went back to look at his time of schedule from the past, I will take the time to go back and receive doctors notes from my husband missing days due to illness for himself or our children. I will also consider calling an attorney about legal advice if his Manager continues to find bogus items to give warnings for.
You might think...they are doing their job. There is more to the story including the Floater who is very ill with Cancer and the Managers refusing to hire additional people to help him.. This poor man has 4 children and is ALWAYS on call, they promise him relief every week. The "African-American" person that was given the slight promotion of Lead until his work got him demoted but when the man felt this department wasn't for him, they denied his request to locate somewhere else because he fills their Minority quota and they can not afford to lose someone else.
Times are tough for everyone right now and we can't afford for my husband to lose his job because his boss can't do his.

Well it does not surprise me that all this is going on.I was hired for season as tps in assets protection . Etl AP she does not no how to talk to any one including guest . She has nasty attitude if. A guess come in the store and ask a question she gets down right nasty with them and calls the cops to issue trespassing.I observed it multiple. Times. Even call law enforcement on older lady who clear had medical tags and a medical wrist saying she. Was mentally disable complained she was under the influence and tried to have her kick pout of the store 1503 . I was so embarrassed when I heard law enforcement. Tell her u didn't see her tags on her. Wow . My second day on the job which was on black Friday after all those long hrs with no break I ask ti take a quick 15min . After my break she call me into the office calling a liar and all sort crazy stuff and turn around and says good job . I was like wow. I had talk with stl and corrected until she went on family leave from work. I got work day after Christmas I receive a letter from hr stating they Aappreciate hard and would love to have me on the team as non- seasonal team. Member . I accepted only for two hr later for etl AP to come in and fire me saying she has multiple complaints of sexy harassment and videos prove it what a laughing stock this is I have a beautiful wife I love that I come home to everyday .I don't feel need to look else where. It was all so funny cause if there's a complaint its hr problem hr wasn't present. I don't mine or take I personal if u don't want to continue employment . Target has hired Jamin Dick, a convicted criminal for assault, in their IT dept. What a bunch of two-faced liars.
Abuse of basic employee rights and aggressive management tactics from Store managers on down is rampid in this corporation. I am most curious about the comments defending Target from so called former HR staff. The two here that state that there is no conflict of interest with bonuses for Managers. They state that Store Manager bonuses are tied to making budget and profitability among other factors. What any business person with half a brain can figure out is that the ONLY way for Store Managers at Target to make budget and be profitable to the expense number they are given is to eliminate older and more expensive employees. This is a common and unwritten practice at big chain stores. It's common sense that if an older employee of say 5 years who has earned extra vacation time...and potentially annual raises...the Store has to hire and spend that many vacations days in extra cost to have someone else cover those shifts. For example, if you have a store with all young employees who only have 1 or 2 weeks vacation at most and you compare to a Store who has half the employees are older than 40 and have an average of 4 weeks vacation...the largest expense and cost in each store is the labor and the store with the older employees has more than double the labor expense. There is NO WAY a store can make budget and no way the Store Manager gets their bonus if they have older employees. If this in fact is the unwritten policy ... to indirectly force out older employees so store managers make their bonus...it's a form of age discrimination among other things. How does a so called former HR person for Target not understand simple expense budget management and keeping labor costs low? I agree something big should be done to Target corporate and all large chains where they force out older employees mostly so Store Managers can make bonus money. That is the classic conflict of interest. I have even heard of situations where the Store HR person is also the Store Manger. Talk about a scam. That is a law suit waiting to happen.
I worked at Target and had many problems there. But when reading your post I was made to think that maybe you're either been lied to or are misunderstanding what your husband is telling you about the company. I was a Human Resource Manager at Target and NO ONE ever gets bonuses or are rewarded for skimping on raises for their employees. That's not how the system works. According to how often the compnay made budget and the income it provided the store is given a certain amount of money it is allowed to give raises off. IT HAS to be under the amount or it will never be approved from district. Manager bonuses are a joke and are not received because of meetiong this budget requirement, but is given because of where you fall on your performance review.
IN ADDITION, THERE WAS NO MINORITY QUOTA at Target. Althought Target encourages diverse groups of emplyees it is ridiculous for this man to blame Target for not being transfered because of a minority quota. When someone was denied transfer from me it was because I would feel guilty passing a problem onto another store if I knew they were a bad worker, OR if the store did not have an opening for the position.
I do agree that Target has ALOT of issues I say agian, but it's difficult to take your article seriously when there's such agregous lies about how the system works. YOu may not have meant to lie, but your information is very inaccurate.
My wife has a knee with four torn ligaments, and her managers at Target refuse to give her proper breaks. They even force her to punch out for lunch but still work the half hour! Today she was basically black-mailed, guilt tripped and bullied into coming to work even though she is is so sick she can hardly stand, talk, or eat! At work she tries to go home but the same thing, being called a baby and a faker. I talked to her on the phone and though barley able to understand her she tells me "I can't come home because I don't want to be the one they talk about" Is it just me or do this seem like a grossly perverted middle school lunchroom.
Here is the kicker she works in the downtown Minneapolis store attached to cooperate and has even told Gregg Steinhafel in person about it!
I worked for target for a total of 6 days and quit. I was training as an ETL and I soon realized that what I was really being trained to do was be an hourly employee. I started thinking that I seriously took out student loans and put in blood, sweat and tears into school to climb ladders and put together shelving. I left a great paying job that I was bored with hoping that this would be an exciting fast paced environment to get some management experience. I found everyone a bit unfriendly and the hourly employees seemed to not be so friendly when I tried to make conversation. Perhaps they were use to young kids right out of college with no experience treating them like crap...who knows. I was not prepared or willing to put in effort to motivate people who were not motivated to get to know you! Everyone seemed a bit to miserable for my taste. I have always worked for companies where people were willing to get to know you and were friendly. The climate tells you a lot about the culture and the whole "fun place to work" is just a wish and not reality. The pay was only 46k a year and they expected you to work 50 hours +. When I quit I told my trainer that I thought this was a 50 hour work week but the other ETL's stated that it can be more like 60 or 65 hours a week. So divide my salary by (lets say 55 hours a week) and I am now I am making what I made right out of highschool in 2002. The trainer said that the excess hours were not true and that if that is the case they arent doing their jobs well. He then said the hours are more like 40 or 45? If these people are not doing their jobs correctly I suppose these are the people you want to train me then? So its been 3 1/2 weeks since my first day and I have yet to receive my pay check. They said it would be mailed and I would get it on October 1st or the 2nd the latest. Well I still havent received it, the store is stating it was mailed at the beginning of the week. Well they must be lying because it doesnt take a week for local mail to get to your house! I will be putting in a complaint with the department of labor because they have 2 days to get my paycheck in my hand, that would be the actual payday or by the saturday following. I called today about my check and the hr etl said it was mailed out the beginning of the week but couldnt tell me what day? She then said I should get it by Monday and I said that would be a holiday so she said then by Tuesday. Nice HR manager she is because she clearly does not no the law about how long you have to provide someone with a check. If I was told the correct information about how they are distributed perhaps I could have gone in to pick it up on friday. Instead I was lied to stating it would be mailed to me directly and here I sit with no paycheck. I havent received a a check since the beginning of september from my previous employer! Target is unprofessional and probably the most negative place I have ever worked! Thank God I found a job that same week I determined this place was horrible!
I TOTALLY agree with almost everything, that everyone has stated on here! I found this website searching for a phone number for Target headquarters to form a complaint! Its almost refreshing to see that I am not the only person having major issues with working for Target! I have been working for Target for about two years, and their human resources team is totally unprofessional. I was on a medical leave for almost two months with a serious, and now chronic medical condition. They have my doctors notes, and to this day still hassle be about my absence being unexcused. I feel that myself, at the age of only 19 could do a much better job then any of these people working in human resources. They are lacking common sense, and do not know how to run a business professionally.
i work at target. i have worked there for 3 years now. i am very unhappy there but with how things are going with jobs out there i have no other choice but to stay there. right now i am having a problem with them . i was on vacation and i dislocated my knee. when i came back i went to the doctor and he told me that i could work i just couldn't stand for long periods of time that i had to sit . i gave my lod and stl a doctors note . first the stl said she couldn't take the doctors note because they don't take notes but she would make sure that i was able to sit if i needed to. the next day i had to work but in the morning i noticed that my knee was swollen all the way to my ankle . so i decided to call out just in case . i didn't want to hurt it more. about a week later i went back to work and my team lead said she had to talk to me . i work at the fitting room . she didn't take me to the office or anything she talked to me there. i don't think that legal to do. she made me look bad in front of people . she said that because i called out the last time i worked she was going to put me on probation for 30 days and i cant call out or anything for those days . so for the next 3 days that i worked i wasn't allowed to sit either . they said they weren't going to give me special treatment. when i went back to the doctor he told me i now have fluid in my knee and that was caused by me standing at work for so long on it. i also have to miss work on friday for an MRI to be done . they were not happy i was going to have to miss that day and told me i did it for that day so i didn't have to go to work . it's funny they say they won't take my note because it's a company rule but yet they have taken them for others before. i don't know what to do .any advice?
Reading through these posts I'm a little dumbfounded at how widespread these problems are. My wife is a current employee of Target and I found this website while I was searching for a way to file a complaint to their headqaurters. The Target my wife works at is a fairly busy 2 story store and they are constantly under scheduling the closing shift. They will have as few as 6 people to close the store and get it ready for the next day. They work the employees like dogs and get mad when things are not being taken care of properly or quick enough. Does anyone know of a way to file a formal complaint with the headquarters?
I must say, I can sympathize with each of you. As far as dating another team member, our store has a Team Lead (hourly) dating a team member, but since Target ensure she does not report to him, then they say it is OK. Well, when he is the TLOD, is she not reporting to him? of course she is.
They went a far as telling the team leads and ETL's that they "highly discourage" them from being freinds with Team Members on Facebook! Talk about a violation of the first amendment!?
Well my wife works as a Team Lead (or I should say worked) and she filled out a punch correction sheet for me, since I have Rhumetoid Arthritis and can not always write. She did so on the 24th of December to ensure they were in for the end of year. I asked her to complete it while I was in the Back of the Store pulling their CAFs so they would not be in the "Red" for the day. She signed it for me and submitted it. She did not approve it, just submitted it.
They brought her in and asked her, she told them she did. Without asking why she did other that the posted note, they terminated her. No previous warning, all her evaluations were above average and she was a "company player".
When asked about the appeal process, the store manager said :we do not have one, sometimes these things happen because people make an honest mistake". There was no benefit realized for either of us because of her actions. I had worked this time and she gave the correct time out punch.
Did I happen to say this was after she attempted to go to work with pneumonia for two weeks (during holiday schedule) and four days after I filed a harrasment complaint against a different hourly team leader?
Well here I am at 5am, attempting to find someone I can write to so they can review this actions before some further action is taken.
They differ not only state to state, but district to district, from store to store and team member to team member. Far and equal treatment has never been something they can say they do.
I am looking for information which a similiar scenario may have taken place in a different Target store.

target's poor return/exchange policy
I purchased a Dirt Devil vacuum at a local Target store on 02.28.08.
This vacuum, although it works well, breaks belts about once a week. I have had other vacuums over the past 30 years that I or my wife have used in exactly the same way and with the same frequency, and we have never had this problem.
When it broke its most recent belt the other day, I decided to return it. What I would like is another vacuum, or to be reimbursed for the cost of the vacuum I bought only 3.5 months ago, which is nearly useless.
Unfortunately, Target has refused to allow me to return or exchange it, because we are 2 weeks past the 90 day limit on their receipt.
This is a mistake on Target's part, because I will never buy anything that costs more than a few dollars from Target again, I will avoid shopping at Target whenever possible, and I will also make sure my friends are aware of the inflexibility of Target's return policy. Target's policy of never making an exception is counterproductive and unsupportable. Other major retail chains are willing to extend themselves on occasion to retain the loyalty of their customers, in consideration of past business and in the interest of potential future business.
I am very disappointed in Target's refusal to do so, and will definitely adjust my buying habits accordingly.

You know when you get up to register at some stores and the clerk says, "do you know about our return policy?"
Well that's because there are so many people like you running around with the assumption that we can just take things back when we're done with them or when we get around to returning them. If it doesn't work when you get home, turn around and return it (don't forget your receipt). If it breaks after 90 days, take it up with the manufacturer. If you don't want it anymore, sell it or give it away.
And above all, if you want high quality, don't shop at places like Target and Wal-mart! You. Get. What. You. Pay. For.
I worked at a store without a time limit on returns. At least twice a year we would have people return really old stff..like 20 years old. I'm sorry but 3 months should be plenty of time. If it's a manufacturing issue, take t up with that company
the receipt says 90 days not 104 days. There has to be some cut off. Otherwise what is stopping people from returning stuff that they bought from target 10 years ago?
I totally agree - I too, attempted to return a bed comforter last week that I purchased in March. (It didn't end up working into my redecorating that has been delayed.) I fully expected to be able to return this item as :
1. It was never used, it was still in it's original packaging.
2. It was shown in their weekly sale flyer as well. (Obviously current merchandise!)
I was told that there was absolutely nothing they could do since my receipt was EXPIRED!

Having had a retail store of my own before, I know how important good customer service is. Due to their lack of it, I suspect that the hand writing is already on the wall...
They were totally inflexible with their customer service. I too, will not shop at Target again. There are too many competitors that are out there to be treated like this. With stores closing almost daily in today's economic climate (and some major ones at that) I would think Target would realize that nothing lasts forever... When the announcement eventually comes that they are "re-structuring" or are closing their doors, it won't surprise me a bit, and quite honestly I will feel like a little justice will have been served.

I went to the Target store under the pretense of a *good deal on some hair products that my girlfriend had given raves about. I was elated to find that the Chi was on sale for the magnificent price of nearly 50% off (according to the advertisement listed above), upon checkout it rung up at an astronomical price of $149.99. I called an associate over and they insisted that the price was true. I kindly showed them the area where it stated otherwise according to their label, and they remained adamant that it was not their fault. I proclaimed their false advertisement to the Snr sales mgr and the store manager who were blatantly rude and disregarded the sign that they clearly posted. They were callous and rude in their endeavors to prove a point, and I will never shop there again. I dare say that the two were probably involved in an affair of sorts as they were intent on claiming the same statement.
You sound like a crazy person. Why would you think they were having an affair? I bet you are a horrible customer.
