I bought a Tesla Y in Nov 2022 with a ton of excitement. I used to drive a minivan and was ready for an upgrade. It’s been more than one year of back and forth and till today basic features do not work. Navigation volume by default randomly goes to 0, wipers from auto randomly go to 0, when on auto the wipers either don’t work or work at random speeds. Here are the steps I took:
Right when I bought the car, tesla mobile service said it looked ok and didn’t do anything.
Then I took it to the Dublin location and said it’s firmware update and shrugged me off by saying it’s a firmware update and will happen at “some” point.
I ended up filing a BBB complaint and only then I got calls from the office manager in Dublin. They kept my car for a night but really didn’t do anything and nothing changed.
I set up another service request and said won’t leave till I get a proper explanation. One of the service people (he was great), deleted my profile and reconfigured everything and said this should fix the issues. But guess what, nothing has changed. The final answer was we cannot do anything else, it’s a firmware issue!
So here I’m stuck with a car I paid $67,378! Being an Indian the voice command doesn't understand my accent and while driving I’m forced to go to the dashboard and have to manually turn on the wipers and the navigation speed. It’s not even safe at this point to drive this car. Both these super basic features worked in my minivan with buttons right on the navigation wheel. Not only is my car half price for what I paid a year back, but I hate it for basic usability issues. Why sell cars, if they are not ready for prime time and rip people from their hard earned money!
