We went to a timeshare presentation on September 15, 2017 we didn't go for it so they Sent us to another guy who told us about Quest Travel Club we decided it sounded good so we took it. The guy rushed us through paperwork we played 195.00 down payment. He also said he gave us his cell phone number which was not true it was the office number. I tried to call and no one would answer then around 19 i got ahold of them it was to late to cancel that I had to send a certified letter within 3days the salesman said5 Castro cancel. When I called the guy said you should have read the small print. I cannot find out any info about Quest Travel Club. I am thinking I have been scammed
Misrepresentation
We were in Hilton Head for a wedding and were there a day ahead of time and had a couple hours to kill. We had owned a Worldmark timeshare for more than 20 years and used it regularly with little or no trouble. We agreed to go to the presentation more for the $125 Visa card than anything else since it was dovetailed into lunchtime and we figured they would buy us lunch and we would listen for a few minutes to a spiel.
Well the deal sounded really good. They said they would give us $18, 000 for our existing timeshare that we were paying $300 a quarter for maintenance and we would only have to pay $900 every 3 years from then on. They told us that they would give us $6, 000 in credit towards the down-payment and that we would receive the additional $12, 000 within 3 to 6 months, depending on how long it took to settle the sale of our existing timeshare. Never once did they mention that we would end up paying the maintenance on our old timeshare and payments on the new one. Ever. They led us to believe they were either buying our timeshare or had a ready market for it but that we were finished with it. We were very surprised a few weeks later when we got a contract in the mail from a third party vendor that said we had agreed to let them sell it but that we still owned it and were basically selling it ourselves. What a joke. We would have never agreed to such a ridiculous scheme if they had been honest. I'm embarrassed to admit that I'm a financial advisor and my wife is a tax accountant. We live in numbers and complex financial situations. This seemed anything but complex. They led us to believe we would have an easy transition and would receive our money fairly soon. Had we any idea we would be selling our existing unit ourselves and having to pay for both in the meantime, there's not a chance we would have agreed to do that. I called the office in Hilton Head and spoke with a very rude individual who sounded like she had taken calls like that often. She told me that we had signed documents that put all this in motion in May and that there was nothing we could do about it.
We were misled. No doubt about it. I cannot believe we did not look them up on google before doing this. They have federal lawsuits, class action suits, etc. against them and it's all a variety of the same thing that happened to us.

Do NOT have anything to do with Coral Resorts. Don't even listen to its sale pitch! The entire operation is a big scam Coral Resorts sale people say that will take over your timeshare and take the maintenance fees off your hands IF you join Coral Resorts vacation club! It sounded very good to my husband and me as we are paying over $1000 a year for one week of timeshare maintenance. Coral resort connections (like Elite Equi9ty) will ask you to sign your timeshare title over to them and pay about $400. 2 years later, we have heard nothing about any property title being transferred. We are calling coral resorts, elite equity, timeshare recyclers..any outfit that could help us learn the status about our takeover. No one knows anything! iT IS A TOTAL scam and we are looking for a class action suit against Coral Resorts.

Just wanted to give others some hope here...We must have gone on this site 20 times after we bought and found out how misled we were by this organization. I wish we did our research properly within the 5 day cancel time and looked here before we bought. To everyone that just bought, CANCEL your contract and look on Ebay if you want a timeshare, they are free. If you are like us and got stuck after the 5 days, do what we did. We went to an local attorney for what turned out to be pretty simple advice. He instructed us to stop our payment immediately and referred us to an exit company that he checked out for us. The paperwork was quite minimal actually. We did receive some calls and letters from the resort for a short period that were not even very bothersome. We stopped those by sending in a simple cease and desist letter which we just got off a google search for cease and desist timeshare. Worst decision we ever made was buying this timeshare with this group. Never again, live and learn.

Make sure you visit the unit you were sold. After several years trading his UNIT my cousin decided to vacation at his TIME SHARE UNIT only to find out that the unit was never built. His mistake was he allowed them to talk him into another unit and gave him a free extra unit, with floating time on both. Now he's paying maintenance on both unitS, at higher rates because the units are more expensive.

I hope by writing this complaint it will help others as did the ones we read that helped us see the fine print that was misleading and conveniently left out of the conversations with the sales rep. Mike was his name, however I feel that most of them are all trained by the same staff members and use basically the same sales techniques. As with most of us we went into this timeshare pitch for the free tickets and island cash with no intentions of buying at all and we told ourselves that over and over. Well, the salesman was good and after he explained all the opportunities we would have, it seemed too good to be true and we believed we were in the position that this would work well for our family. Too Good to Be True, first red flag. However we asked many questions and his answers left us feeling positive with the 5 day back out possibility. So let’s get to the point. Here are the reasons after Googling, reading website complaints and looking at the fine print on the actual contract that made us rescind our offer and get a full refund. These are our reasons and opinions and they might even be disputed by the company, but a few red flags was enough for us not to continue any further.
Just to give you a comparable - this is the deal we got. We were offered a triennial 3 bedroom at Hilton Head that gave us 21, 333 points each year. Maintenance fees were $300 each year and paid every 3 years. One bonus week each year at the price of $250 to be used anywhere. All this for the total cost of $8, 170 plus $395 closing cost. Maybe this number seems high or low to you. We were offered to sell back our first year bonus week (because it was in high demand) for $3, 000 off our purchase, which is how we got the number down to $8, 170. Initially he showed us starting prices of $19k. That was until he brought forward a property that was supposedly reclaimed because the prior people stopped paying for it. All the same benefits of the 19k property with lower maintenance fees. Gee, sound too good to be true?
1. First off this is not an investment, it loses value as soon as you leave and even more so over time, which is the opposite of what the salesman stated. After doing some research I have found that there are lots of people selling their timeshare for far less than what they paid. Many websites state the devaluing of the timeshare. There is even some stories of people offering their timeshare for $1 just to get rid of it so that they don't have to keep paying the maintenance fees.
2. Now the whole “it’s just 9, 000 points to stay anywhere for a week” thing we were told plus just $159 for the transfer fee. Well it’s more like 30k – 118k points per 7 day stay. Yes you can get one for 9k points, but that is last minute options for only a few choices. Reality is that it would take you almost three years of points to stay at a nice location with proper and early reservation. After doing some searching here is a link right off of RCI’s website that is very helpful. 3. This triennial thing was another strange way to word things. As we were told, we got to pick and use vacation spots each year. So with the mindset the salesman put into our heads stating we would still be able to take 3 resort spots each year. That’s two spots for 9, 000 points each and the bonus week spot, with still 3, 000 points left to carry over. Well now we know it takes a lot more than 9k points. The salesman states that the triennial is only to make the maintenance fees lower. So you would pay in our case, $900 every 3 years, instead of a bill of $300 every year. This appears to be true, no big deal here. However looking into the contract a little more is may be that it looks like you can actually only pick a vacation spot once every three years. Seems weird, but that’s just how I read it quickly as per the words stated in print. This may not be true, but it was just another red flag. Although the manager that refunded us, did state we could use the point we accrued each year, but now knowing it would take thousands of more points each year, this no longer seemed like the great deal.
4. Something that was NEVER mentioned, but was confirmed when we rescinded was a yearly membership fee for RCI. On top of the maintenance fees RCI themselves has a fee to be part of the whole points trading timeshare thing that they run. 5. We already made up our mind about rescinding the offer, so I didn’t look too much into this last one. But when we bought, we were given a specific week and somewhere in the paperwork I saw something about it being seasonal. It almost appeared that based on the time your week was/season is the time that you can only pick. Like I said, not too sure on this one, but I really didn’t care to read into more of it, enough red flags for me.
REFUND PROCESS: Believe it or not - the whole rescinding of the offer and refund process went smooth and fast. We went back to the first office that we went to on day one, and after giving our paperwork to the front desk, a man from the back came forward to help us. He just wanted to know are reasons for rescinding and at that time he confirmed some of the misleading information and stated a few statements confirming some as well. As he stated he did go back and refund our credit card for a full refund. It is important to bring the blue square box back, otherwise there is a $100 charge for it. Luckily we read that part. We signed some paperwork and he even stated on that paperwork that there was no need to send in the certified letter that is stated in the fine print for a refund offer to take place. This part of the process was easy and made us glad it is all over. Now we can enjoy the rest of our vacation without the headache and stress from this timeshare disaster. I’m just glad we didn't get past the 5 day window. Please also keep in mind the multiple lawsuits against this company and other complaints from others.
Fraud timeshare
Scam us for more than 12000. On the pretense of vacation anytime we wanted to and even sold us a unit to rent it out for us. Never have stayed not one night in their resort and pay over 300 bucks each yr for maint. Fee. Call and even drove there to try to meet with them and they did not have the people there I talked to so had to talk to another person and, she had the gall try sell me another wk. I asked why would I pay another dime to you when you have not upheld one agreement with me. This is unreal. I have try to talk with these people with no luck at all.
I still don't think you people know how a timeshare works if you are complaining about never being able to use it... I have owned a timeshare for over 10 years and I have ALWAYS been able to use my time... In fact, I have used the system to get extra time because people like you do NOT use it properly and it leaves open weeks...

Same scam and stry as those above. One other thing that they pulled on us when we used our week was bait and switch.we were put in Springwood location which is an older part of coral sands. Never even mentioned when we bought. Did not know it existed. Also given unit away from the fine am entities. There are people who live there year round. Not a 5 star. They brag about their 5 star rating but this is not from their timeshare owners it is from RCI members that trade into it. We do not receive anything from them until time for maintaince fees. Then there is no names on the bill which goes to a po box! We are elderly. Bought because we wanted to use with our children. They can't go at the times they gave us which we were told we could use anytime every year with (Developer Weeks) when we tried that we had to pay $1800. Hear the FBI is getting involved.i am contacting FBI, Sc Attorney General and BBB. Shame on officials of Hilton Head for allowing this fraud. They are well aware. From what I can make out, you bought into a timeshare vacation offer and never used it.

Scams & lies
We are currently in the process of parting ways with Coral Resorts. We had not even had our first ownership very long before being lied to again by Hunter French. He claims that his brother is the boss and because of this apparently he is allowed to say whatever he wants. He did just that. He created out of thin air an entire fraudulent presentation on how our developer weeks were no good as our previous salesman claimed, and if we upgraded he would guarantee $2000 per week to us. He and his manager both confirmed they would be “Platinum” weeks, which are always full.
We explained that we were already struggling with our 1st (lower) payment and thought we were lied to, and could not afford a higher new payment. Hunter did not hesitate to tell us we would not have to worry and the $2000 from each developer week (he somehow gave us a 2nd one) would cover our payments, and get us paid off sooner.
We are now stuck, at no fault of our own except for taking people at their word. Our first salesperson did the same.
We have explained this to Coral Resorts and they are only trying to cancel what we did with Hunter French, when they know we were lied to the first time as well. We were promised a check for selling our Westgate property, which was supposed to arrive in 90 days. This of course never happened either. The company that was supposedly “selling” the Westgate property told us that most of the properties listed by Coral Resorts never sell, and certainly not for the amount we were quoted. Even their affiliate companies told us we were probably lied to by Coral Resorts. Because of this we are stuck with that payment as well, when Coral Resorts said not only will it be gone, but we can expect a check. So much for that.
They are just trying to provide a temporary fix so we will go away. We are stuck with a permanent problem because of their lies, so to us that is not fair. We will be contacting Hilton Heads newspaper next and I encourage everyone else to do the same.
They have reported on this company before, and probably would not mind helping people who need it, and like to enjoy Hilton Head. This company gives the island a bad name. we are going to stay in contact with the authorities and see this through until we are refunded and out of business with them. They cannot be trusted. Even people that have worked in their customer service department have spoken up about what scam they are running. Let’s make it known to the authorities and media that this company needs to be shut down for good. They do not care about people, bottom line. Companies that do not care about people should not be open.
Every owner possible should get in contact to form class action. At least maybe the island packet should survey people walking out of that company on how they feel about them. Just a thought
Did you get anywhere yet? I was lied to as well. I was told about the developer weeks paying my loan and maintenance fee, that never happened. I was told if I didn't want to trade my weeks, I didn't need to maintain the exchange membership, that was a lie. I was also told that if I ever wanted to sell my time share I could call them and they'd sell it for me because they have a very high demand for resale properties. When I called to get rid of it, they were nasty and told me they don't do that. I've been trying to get rid of my time share since 2008 and have yet to get anywhere.
Lachelle and Danny Taylor/ Billy Hodge are Crooks-All Fraud
Like others I have just begun seeking a cancellation and a refund of the monies I have paid these crooks. After being made aware of these posts recently I now know why I felt so awful about my timeshare with them. We were all flat out lied too!
I was told the same lies about using my points that it seems most were told from the beginning. I too thought that any week I used would only cost 9000 points, only to be told by RCI I had been lied to. I was also told from the beginning that I should expect a check from my developer week when it was not used. Well, 2 years-no use- and no check. What was worse was coming back to Coral Resorts and basically being told I should have not bought what I did...why sell it then?
Danny and Lachelle Taylor promised a package to provide a vacation for what my family actually needed if I upgraded. I needed to take them to Hilton Head in the summer. I told them I would have had to take out a loan against my home to afford it, and even then it would be tight if I did the deal. Lachelle said not to worry and that she would see to it that I was paid for my now "2" developer weeks each year.
She claimed as you can see that each week had a value to me of $1600/week that I was supposed to be paid in the coming January. I told her I would not believe this if it was not in writing. She immediately had her husband Danny go and get the "marketing contract" for them to buy my weeks immediately and all I had to do was decide where the check was to be used in January. He was putting it in writing for me, and said it was guaranteed. Nowadays, I did not think any company could put something in writing if it was not going to happen, but obviously the Taylors are allowed to.
It appears they have done it to others on here as well. How can this family be allowed to make these fraudulent statements to people. I have had several affiliates of Coral Resorts since tell me that these forms are bogus. There is NO company that has ever "bought" weeks from them or owners especially. Reba management has even said that most owners end up paying a company upfront money out of Virginia to advertise their week and the weeks never rent. All LIES
To make it worse, before I could even find out that this check was never going to come. I met with Billy Hodge that December. He backed up all of the Taylor’s lies and told me I should expect the money as promised. He said that with Danny being a manager he was the only one who coud put it in writing so I was lucky. However he claimed that the summer time was now Platinum and my contract was not. I had to upgrade to it since this it what it now took to come to Hilton Head in the summer.
Apparently in the 9 months since I upgraded with Lachelle, the entire system had changed, so he claimed. Billy needed several more thousand from me to make this work and I needed it to take my family back in the summer. Again, I borrowed the money. Billy said of course not to worry because the money I was owed would pay for this upgrade too, since I was owed $3200 per year.
30 Days later I found out it was all a lie. Lachelle, Danny, and Billy intentionally lied and had me borrow money against my own home on the promise of something that they knew was not true. None of it was from the beginning.
I am now taking this to higher authorities and intend to get out of my contract and get my money back. I cannot believe this company and the authorities still allow this to happen. I complaints on here similar to mine that date back 3+ years ago. These people (especially the Taylors) should not allowed to be in the business of selling to families.

People have been warned for over thirty years on lots of TV programs and in the press about the pitfalls of timeshare, or its posher name, fractional ownership, and yet they are still buying them, the majority of timeshares are managed by crooks, its a pity because on the face of it its a good idea, its when you read the small print that the problems show up, dont touch it with a bargepole, there, you have been warned again. Trade property
We traded a Marriott timeshare at Harbour Pointe for a timeshare at Coral Resorts at Island Links. The trade went through WB Marketing that was recommended by Coral Resorts. We sent all the paperwork and our deed to WB Marketing in 2008 for the trade to take place. I phoned Marriott in September of 2008 to see if they received the paperwork and they told me they did except for the WB Marketing license number and another form they needed. I had tried to reach WB Marketing numeous times but did not get a return phone call. I called Coral Resorts and I was told that WB marketing went bankrupt. It has been 5 years since this happened. We get a maintenance fee each year from Marriott to pay. I spoke to Coral Resorts and they said they would pay that maintenance fee each year. Coral Resort has received the trade, WB Marketing had our deed and we are stuck getting Marriott's maintenance fee each year to take care of. All the trouble we have gone through we have decided that we no longer want either timeshare. We will be working on escalating this issue until this problem is solved.
Ripoff and lies
We were told that Coral would sell our Diamond Points, after six months, and apply the monies to the cost of the points we purchased. Never happened. When we went back to check, they gave us a song and dance, and wouldn't let us see the salesman that gave us the lie. Then we were told that we would get an owners week. Coral said we would get notification in August, and we were to let them know if we were going to use it, or they would use it for "suckers", when they would have them use the so called "free" nights, so they could talk then into buying points. Never happened. Called many times and left messages, and not one return. So we are now stuck with both Diamond and RCI points with Coral.

Lies / rental income, we have proof
My wife and I are writing this to send a message to Coral Resorts and all other owners who have been taken just like us. We have now given the "developer week" scam a little more time and are 100% certain it is a complete lie. Luckily we have the lie/promise/proposal in writing (see attachment). Our attorney has advised us to contact as many owners as possible from this point, as she has spoken to several that have had the same issues with Coral Resorts, and we live in Ohio. We don't have the time or the resources as of the moment to do so, so for know this post will have to do.
We will try to shorten the tragic tale for you, and just give a little background info. We purchased with them 5 yrs ago-Lied too-BIG TIME. Not enough points( told all vacations should be booked last min for better deals), the Developer week will rent and pay us $900-$1200/yr, the golf package can be used anywhere/anytime, the salesperson got our hopes up on Europe/etc. as he kept showing us pictures how he used his points in Turkey or Greece.
Of course we couldn't even get back to Hilton Head when our kids were out of school with the amount of points we had. From what we have read on here, this sounds like the standard sales pitch at the resort, as we have been back for "owner updates" and heard the same chatter amongst the room. My wife and I swore that if we ever did business with this company again, we would get everything in writing. For the last several years we resisted any upgrades, but on our last owner "update, " we gave in.
Our owner services rep we will call "Michelle" (not her real name, but for now we have been advised not to use them). She was very nice, but with good reason, she wanted us to buy something. We had a nice discusion about our kids and we were aware that what we had could not bring us back to Hilton Head when they were out of school. She listened and presented us with a week that would be Deeded a spring break week every year. We knew this would work, but it would cost more money. At the time, and presently, we made it clear that we cannot afford to upgrade.
She then presented us with "changes that have been made with the developer week program." If we owned one previously and we upgraded, that it would go to "Platinum" status, which would guarantee rental income if we did not use it. The rental income she quoted of $1600/wk on 2 weeks($3200/yr written by her on the form) would easily pay for the upgrade as it is only an $8500 purchase, and a $175/mo payment. We knew what platinum status was from previously being denied reservations from RCI/owner services because we did not have enough points to come during platinum season. She said that the platinum weeks stay full, as was proved from our phone calls.
Given that these things had merit and we needed to get a week when our kids were out of school we chose to talk about it. My wife and I chatted for several minutes without her and agreed that this change would serve us well, IF everything was in writing and kosher. She came back to the table and we told her our only condition was that the rent money must be in writing and guaranteed or we could not afford it. She said no problem, and we went ahead with the deal. As you can see from her copy (which she didn't want to give us) we were promised $3200/yr for 2012/13/14. Clearly this never happened and will not, which brings us to where we are now. Stuck, and mislead into a purchase we cannot afford when we were just trying to do the right thing for our family.
We even gave the sales rep the benefit of the doubt for a while. When we called last yr about our check, we were told January 2013 is when it begins. In the meantime the only calls we tried to make to verify this would be coming in January 2013 were to the developer week hotline and a woman named Kate Swisher. She couldn't have been more rude and cold to us. Granted we may have vented a bit and given her too much backround info, but we may have never been nearly as upset if she did not take the tone that she did. A little sympathy would have at least counted for something. She questioned our decision, and gave off the impression several times that we should have never believed that particular sales rep in the first place. Thanks so much for making an already frustrated customer feel dumber, great approach.
Apparently this is encouraged at the resort as the other girls at Reba management were right on her level in giving us a warm and fuzzy feeling about our purchase. It was almost as if they expected everyone to be mad when they called, because they probably are.
Well, Jan has come and gone and sure enough, no check. No one at Reba Mgmt or Owner Services seems to know what we are talking about. They probably think we are crazy, or stupid. To put and end to this madness we finally consulted an attorney. She feels that since we have the promise in writing, we will get our contract cancelled and receive all of our money back. She also put us in touch with 2 other owners in our area that are in the same boat. One did an identical upgrade it seems with an "Amy" in owner services who was quoted more income than we were and intends to pursue legal action. The other one has just recently purchased for the first time and feels that they were mislead as well by a younger salesperson and his manager, which ourselves and RCI even have verified for them. This has to stop. We are people trying to spend time with our families at a nice place in an affordable way. If any other owners wish to contact us that are in the same boat, please feel free to do so through the site. Understand that we have kids and can only devote so much time to this headache.
We intend to keep our payment current until April when we come down to Hilton Head and speak to other owners about it as well. We are confident that we will come home in april with our money returned to us or rent checks in hand and will make many other owners and prospective customers aware of what this company does and how they treat people.
We too were scammed and have paid them over 11, 000 and still have 2 years left on contract. I cant afford to waste anymore of mine and my husbands hard earned money on this. I don't have a clue how to begin to fight it and definitely can't afford a lawyer. Please help
Just walk away from it like we did. These folks are crooks, don't give them the satisfaction of taking your money every month. Send them notice you are not to be contacted and be done with them. That is your right! We never want to come to Hilton Head again because of these people!
I am so ready to fight these crooks! My parents fell for this scam and purchased a time share in Nov 2011. The crooks were operating a kiosk at Coligny and were hounding people that were walking by on the sidewalk! How these people are able to operate out in the open on this island is so far beyond comprehension! I begged my parents not to fall for this, but they didn't listen. The salespeople made it sound so good, they fell for it. I tried to research before they signed any papers, but because these crooks operate under so many different names, I was unable to find any concrete evidence of this scam until it was too late.
There is absolutely no availability on any resort that we would stay at. And the "Last Call" garbage, which was one of the biggest selling points to my parents is absolute crap! There is never anything decent available! On top of that, the maintenance fees are three times as much as quoted at the time of sale! And we keep getting bills in the mail for different fees that are due. Ridiculous!
Like I said, I am ready to fight! Anyone who has information on who I should contact or how I can get involved in a class action lawsuit, LET ME KNOW! I don't even care if we end up with $5 after the settlement, we just WANT OUT!
Timeshares have been in existence so long now that I find it hard to believe anyone even listens to the presentations anymore much less buys them. I go to several different charity auctions every year and there is ALWAYS a time share usage up for auction because the owners never use them and, because they are donating the use of their time share, they at least get to take a donation write off on their taxes. We have the same experience almost to the letter! Right down to being told we were rednecks! We have paid over 11, 000 dollars and have not used this timeshare once! We offered to GIVE it back to Coral Resorts with no return on our parts just cutting our losses and chalking it up to a lesson learned, but we were told they did not even want it back it was worthless! Buuuut for some more cash we could buy something that would work for us. We laughed in their face for a change. They could not get us out of there fast enough I was making such a scene. I told my husband we should stand in front of the place and tell everyone who would listen our experience, but he would not let me he was afraid I would go to jail! But the real crooks would still be operating inside. I guess right now I want to know has anyone just stopped paying? And if so how bad does this hurt your credit? We are done! And just want out! Also to the Island of Hilton Head we will NEVER come back there, this situation has ruined any good memories we have from this beautiful island. I am sure their tourist board and chamber of commerce would be interested in this comment because I am sure we are not alone!

My husband and I are in the same boat as you. We purchased in June and have made several attempt to speak to someone but calls go unanswered. We were told so many lies I can't even list them here. The biggest concern I have is that the Maintenance Fee was higher than expected. Also they told us they have a "Buy Back" developer week program that doesn't really exist. Could you please share the contact info of the lawyer you are using? I have contacted the BBB but they were unable to help us. Lies/Rental Income in Writing, Proof in hand
My wife and I are writing this to send a message to Coral Resorts and all other owners who have been taken just like us. We have now given the "developer week" scam a little more time and are 100% certain it is a complete lie. Luckily we have the lie/promise/proposal in writing (see attachment). Our attorney has advised us to contact as many owners as possible from this point, as she has spoken to several that have had the same issues with Coral Resorts, and we live in Ohio. We don't have the time or the resources as of the moment to do so, so for now this post will have to do.
We will try to shorten the sad story a litlle, and just give a little background info. We purchased with them 5 yrs ago-Lied too, many times over. Not enough points( told all vacations should be booked last min for better deals), the Developer week will rent and pay us $900-$1200/yr and cover our regime fee, the golf package can be used anywhere/anytime, the salesperson got our hopes up on Europe/etc. as he kept showing us pictures how he used his points in Turkey or Greece.
Of course we couldn't even get back to Hilton Head when our kids were out of school with the amount of points we had. From what we have read on here, this sounds like the standard sales pitch at the resort, as we have been back for "owner updates" and heard the same chatter amongst the room. My wife and I swore that if we ever did business with this company again, we would get everything in writing. For the last several years we resisted any upgrades, but on our last owner "update, " we gave in.
Our owner services rep we will call "Michelle" (not her real name, but for now we have been advised not to use them). She was very nice, but with good reason, she wanted us to buy something. We had a nice discusion about our kids and we were aware that what we had could not bring us back to Hilton Head when they were out of school. She listened and presented us with a week that would be Deeded a spring break week every year. We knew this would work, but it would cost more money. At the time, and presently, we made it clear that we cannot afford to upgrade.
She then presented us with "changes that have been made with the developer week program." If we owned one previously and we upgraded, that it would go to "Platinum" status, which would guarantee rental income if we did not use it. The rental income she quoted of $1600/wk on 2 weeks($3200/yr written by her on the form) would easily pay for the upgrade as it is only an $8500 purchase, and a $175/mo payment. We knew what platinum status was from previously being denied reservations from RCI/owner services because we did not have enough points to come during platinum season. She said that the platinum weeks stay full, as was proved to ourselves from our phone calls.
Given that these things had merit and we needed to own a week when our kids were out of school we chose to talk about it. My wife and I discussed for several minutes without her and agreed that this change would serve us well, IF everything was in writing and kosher. She came back to the table and we told her our only condition was that the rent money must be in writing and guaranteed or we could not afford it. She said no problem, and we went ahead with the deal. As you can see from her copy (which she didn't want to give us) we were promised $3200/yr for 2012/13/14. Clearly this never happened and we have discovered will not, which brings us to where we are now. Stuck, and mislead into a purchase we cannot afford when we were just trying to do the right thing for our family.
We even gave the sales rep the benefit of the doubt for a while. When we called last yr about our check, we were told Jan 2013 is when it begins. In the meantime the only calls we tried to make to verify this would be coming in January 2013 were to the developer week hotline and a woman named Kate Swisher. She couldn't have been more rude and cold to us. Granted we may have vented a bit and given her too much backround info, but we may have never been nearly as upset if she did not take the tone that she did. A little sympathy would have at least counted for something. She questioned our decision, and gave off the impression several times that we should have never believed that particular sales rep in the first place. Thanks so much for making an already frustrated customer feel dumber, great approach.
Apparently this is encouraged at the resort as the other girls at Reba management were right on her level in giving us a warm and fuzzy feeling about our purchase. It was almost as if they expected everyone to be mad when they called, because they probably are.
Well, January has come and gone and sure enough, no check. No one at Reba Mgmt or Owner Services seems to know what we are talking about. They probably think we are crazy, or stupid. To put an end to this madness we finally consulted an attorney. She feels that since we have the promise in writing, we will get our contract cancelled and receive all of our money back. She also put us in touch with 2 other owners in our area that are in the same boat. One did an identical upgrade it seems with an "Amy" in owner services who was quoted more income than we were and intends to pursue legal action. The other one has just recently purchased for the first time and feels that they were mislead as well by a younger salesperson and his manager, which ourselves and RCI even have verified for them. I believe they have posted on the web as well.
This has to stop. We are people trying to spend time with our families at a nice place in an affordable way. If any other owners wish to contact us that are in the same boat, please feel free to do so through the site. Understand that we have kids and can only devote so much time to this headache. We intend to keep our payment current until April when we come down to Hilton Head and speak to other owners about their situation as well. We are certain that many, many owners have been conned into purchases just like we have made.

We went to HHI in April 2012 and went to the presentation with Coral Sands and REBA management - we were told we were purchasing 3 weeks at the Coral Sands resorts to 17, 900.00 and a 300.00 dollar a year maintanance fee. We paid cash !! When we returned and attempted to book a week in October 2012 thru RCI - we were told that we didn't even have enough...

Just making any other owners and their families aware of some things. RCI and Coral Resorts do monitor these websites to be pro-active on solving issues for owners. They did help us solve ours, and we are a little "happier" I guess you could say. However, it is easy to get carried away after reading other reviews to carry on about how the salesperson said this or that and lied. As soon as you use their name they have permanent proof of a libel suit.
We spoke to a local law professor after a phone call from the resort. They made us aware that after our previous post the salesperson could file suit against us for libel/slander. They made us aware that we purchased from the resort and not the salesperson-which is true. His name was nowhere in the contract. The law professor we spoke to confirmed all of this, and we could have been in a real mess.
We took his advice and called the salesperson and apologized formally. He was understanding and apologized as well, even offered to help with the issue. Don't make this mistake, even if you are upset like we were, think first. Most of what is written on here is by ex-sales people the resort has let go. You will notice year after year that only a handful remain with any of these companies. Complain about the company all day, don't think they can do a thing about it.

I plan on filing a formal complaint with the SC Department of Labor, Office of Investigations and Enforcement. I don't think Coral Resorts or Reba will do anything but it will make me feel better. I send everything in writing now, no more phone calls that are normally not answered, plus I want documentation. Does anyone know who is the manager at the Coral Resorts in HHI?

Verbal misrepresentation and Fraud
In March 2013 my husband and I visited Hilton on a 3-day stay through Vacation Play. As part of the promotion we were to sit through a sales presentation for a timeshare.
Our sale rep was Phil Lucchese. He did an outstanding presentation (or so we thought) and we purchased a timeshare. When the finance mgr brought out the contract to go over my husband tried to read it and the mgr kept saying PHIL already went over all this with you so my husband finally gave up. We currently owned a timeshare that PHIL told us they would purchase and apply towards our purchase price of the new timeshare. This was a lie as 4 weeks after we returned home we received an email from Resort Solutions to list our timeshare. This email was conveniently sent after our time limit to cancel the transaction. PHIL stated the day of the presentation that it would take 3 to 6 months to close on our old timeshare. When I asked why he said it was because my time share with Royal Holiday was out of Mexico.Another lie. PHIL also told us not to use our old timeshare or the sale amount would not be correct. So it is now November and our maintenance fee on the old time share was $615 and we will loose that as we followed PHIL's instructions and did not take a vacation.
He also stated that with the amount of points we would receive with the new timeshare we would be able to stay three weeks at Hilton Head. Another lie. He did not mention that we would have to pay a fee to stay at our home resort to RCI. When we contacted RCI to book our week. We were told we do not have enough points for even one week.
When you try to contact Coral Resorts you are able to only leave messages with no return calls.
My husband and I are not unintelligent people and I feel that we wre scammed. MY husband is a 100% percent disabled veteran and I have 28 years of government service. We should have refused to buy the timeshare without first taking the 10 page contract and reading it but that is hind sight now.
We are in the process of filing a formal complaint with the SC Dept of Labor. The claim examiner stated that the more people we could get together for a class action the better. If you have experienced a similar problem with Coral Resorts please contact me to join in the filing.

I would like to be involved if at all possible. My husband and I vacationed in Hilton Head in September of 2012 and were reeled in by the timeshare salespeople...we declined to finance a timeshare and were led to believe that an alternative program would be for us. We stated that after having a recently discharged bankruptcy and 8 children to support that we did NOT wish to enter a contract. That salesperson assured me NO contract was involved, and we could cancel anytime without penalty. I submitted a deferred payment which was debited early and overdrew our account. I spoke with a Manager at the organization and they reversed the payment, and were told to close STOP charging. The charges stopped and the debt went straight to our credit report...Now we're looking at struggling credit again...I'm sick of this scamming company!
Fake Smiles with lots of Lies
Coral Resorts are full of smiles but they are full of b.s. They lie to you when they sell you the timeshares cause once you buy it you are stuck. Than they smile and polite in your face but talk and gossip behind your back. They are unprofessional and I am surprise that they are a gold crown company with their many mishaps. You would think a company that small would have their staff more in control but they don't. I actually heard the front desk talk about guests when they thought no one was around. It's sad and disrespectful of them to do something like that but they do. The front desk isn't "rude" but they aren't that friendlily for them to be the first and last people you see when you check in and out. One girl Anna is so fake with her smile that it is annoying and if they hired her after she was an intern their than they will hire anyone who is fake. Like Susana who you only see at the welcome breakfast with her fake smile and lies also. Asked her about warming up the pool and she said she would get that done and it never happened and when I asked her about it when my week was up she said that she couldn't do anything about it that is was on a timer etc but than I heard her tell someone else that she would get it taking care of but I was told it was on a timer. So this company is full of lies and deceit. Trust no one when you use this company because Reba management is a scam and its being going on for over 20 years. WATCH OUT PEOPLE...BE WARNED

Do not trust sales people. We upgraded our timeshare w/ & we were told we would not pay a maintenance fee this year because they would transfer our fee from the one we traded in which was paid but not used this year. Even signed a paper to that effect. An addendum to the contract. Wrong. Reba expects payment because we were already assigned our points to rci - even though we did not use them. Lie. Lie. Lie.
I could not agree more! I cant believe they are allowed to lie the way they do! We were told we would not have to pay any types of fees if we did not use that year... wrong! Now I am looking at $5000 dollars in fees for something I didnt use! I would strongly suggest not working with this company as you will be burned!
Beware!! Wife and i are being sued!! Slander / libel
My wife and I have recently hired the most high paid defense attorney in our county and he has informed us we will probably LOSE are lawsuit. BEWARE of slandering a salespersons name at this resort, they have an attorney on staff and unfortunately you and I as the customer DO NOT. Our salesperson who we made several comments about not thinking it was a big deal has filed suit against us and we almost have NO DEFENSE our Attorney says. By us putting our opinions IN WRITING online the salespersons attorney had all the proof they needed to prove defamation of character by libel. All WE have is a contract that shows what we BOUGHT! Nothing to show how he LIED to us over and over. Do not bother to post "anonymously" either. Any attorney will hire a computer guy to do a reverse internet lookup and see EXACTLY where the comments came from, and they can prove a very easy connection based on location he said. WE ARE ROYALLY SCREWED. COMPLAIN ALL DAY ABOUT THE RESORT, BUT DO NOT RISK MORE OF YOUR MONEY TO CALL THESE GUYS LIARS IT IS NOT WORTH IT! We wish we NEVER BOUGHT. To date: Timeshare Cost $24, 900, , , , , , Atty Fees $12, 600, , , , , and he predicts our settlement cost to the salesperson will be in the area of $35, 000-$60, 000 for any lost business the salesperson proves because of our comments. (This doesn't take much to prove) These websites WILL NOT remove comments by the way. We are HOPING to settle asap to avoid future canceled sales that WE could be held responsible for! Watch yourselves everyone...and GET OUT OF TIMESHARE
